Chapter 21
Behind a bunch of tall bushes we saw two people, a boy and a girl, making out. We looked closer and to our surprise it was Maya and Matthew. We just stood there staring in shock, I couldn't believe my eyes. Surely she was being forced to kiss him. No mother to be would cheat on the father of her baby, would they? I was so confused. I looked over to Xavier, and he didn't look surprised, however he did look pissed. He gestured for me to keep quiet as he crept closer to where they were, I silently followed, careful to not make a sound. We hid behind the bush and stared at them. Thank goodness they finished making out, or else I'm sure my innocent eyes would be scarred. They were just talking, well arguing.
"Babe, I'm tired of waiting, its been 6 long months, I need you back, by my side." Matthew said while holding her hands.
"I know baby, but it's just a few more weeks, and then I'll have the birth and then the plan is back in action at full speed." She said reassuring Matthew, as she held his cheek.
"Ok, but the baby is mine right?" He said angrily as he possessively held onto her baby bump. I looked at Xavier, with wide eyes, to say I was shocked would be an understatement. Xavier looked both relieved and confused.
"Of Course Mattie, who else's would it be?" She cooed.
"Good, cause if it was Xavier's I swear I would've killed him." Matthew replied as he went in for another kiss.
I know Xavier and I's relationship is complicated, but he is my mate, and I felt like I had to defend him. "Too bad, cause Xavier would've killed you." I sneered as they broke away from the kiss and they both growled at me, which caused Xavier to growl and stand in front of me in a protective stance.
Maya looked shocked. She tried to act as if she was innocent. "Xavier baby, it's not what it looks like." She said walking up and grabbing his arm, I let out a growl as Matthew yanked her back and growled 'MINE' and that's when our suspicions were confirmed ..... it was in deed what it looked like.
"Oh so it doesn't look like you manipulated Xavier, for a reason that we still don't know and that you and Matthew are mates?" I said sarcastically. "I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as if you-" I said walking in front of Xavier and pointing at the two of them, "tried to overtake Xavier's position and have the pack as your own." I said accusingly. They both kept quietly and I smirked in victory as the silence was a confirmation that I was right.
Maya shook her hand out of Matthew's grasp and came and stood in front of me. "You're just half right." She said. "Don't think your top shit just cause you beat the crap out of Elena. Don't let the state I'm in fool you. I know karate." She said holding her hands up in a karate stance.
I just laughed. "Okay panda bitch, calm down, before your baby pops outs." I said with a little too much attitude that Matthew came and stood in front of me, daring me to continue. I just raised an eyebrow at his gesture, is he really going to fight a girl?
Matthew growled at me. "You better back off mutt!" he threatened coming closer and closer as he clenched his fists.
"Or what?!" Xavier replied in the same tone Matthew used, as he moved me out of the way and stood head to head with Matthew. They just stood there glaring at each other, both with clenched fists while they growled at each other. "If you ever lay a hand on MY mate and the rightful Luna to this pack, I'll kill you!" Xavier dangerously said as he shoved Matthew so hard, he fell to the ground.
I was filled with so much joy, when he said that, that I didn't even realise I was smiling, until Maya's annoyingly high pitched voice interrupted me. "I'm not sure whether to find this cute or pathetic. Everyone knows that when a girl goes back to the guy that treated her like crap, it's because she can't do any better and she's one weak as little bitch." She said tending to her mate who seems to be knocked out. Damn Xavier, since when did you get that strong?
What she said got me. It's true! Only someone stupid would get back together with someone who treated them like crap. But I wasn't going to let her win. "I'm not sure whether you're jealous or just plain pathetic." I said in distaste. "I mean everyone knows that when a girl tries to steal your man, replace you and takeover your life, she's not only jealous, she's psychotic." I said with so much hate. "And to pretend to be with someone while you have a mate! To kiss someone else who isn't your mate, when you know you have one, to 'make love' with someone besides your mate-" I said using two fingers as quotation marks as I said make love, "and worst of all to pretend to have somebody else's baby! That's just pathetic and low... even for you." I said crouching down so I was at the same level as her as I stared directly into her eyes. "A. Weak. Ass. Little. Bitch." I said pausing between each word.
I stood back up and went and stood with Xavier and stared at the two of them with disgust. "I should exile both of you for your attempt to destroy this pack." Xavier said in a serious voice. "But since we need all the people we can get to help fight off the rogues, I can't exactly do that." He said looking angry. "You two are both lucky!" he sneered out as Maya looked at him with a smug look.
"I don't care what circumstances we are in." I said pissed off that Maya caught me off guard, calling me a weak pathetic little bitch. Nobody and I mean nobody will ever make a fool out of me again. Both Xavier and Maya looked at me weirdly. "As the rightful Luna of this pack." I said emitting so much power, which made Xavier grin at me and Maya bow her head down in submission even though I haven't finished speaking yet. "I hereby exile both you Maya Prescott and you Matthew Montgomery from the Moonstone pack. You have 24 hours to leave this land or you WILL be put down as rogues and will be persecuted." And with that I walked off not waiting for any of them, just ignoring Xavier calling out to me and Maya cursing at me.
"Chloe wait!!" Xavier said running up to me. I ignored him and kept walking. He caught up to me and embraced me into a hug. "Talk to me, tell me what's wrong, please Chloe." He begged me stroking my arm.
I ignored him and pushed him off of me and went to walk off but he grabbed my arm. "LET GO!" I yelled frustrated at him, and boy even my own tone of voice scared me, it held so much power. I didn't care if I sounded too harsh to Xavier, I was pissed off..... pissed off at what Maya said, therefore making me pissed off at everything.
"No." Xavier replied, unaffected by my tone of voice. I turned towards him and glared at him.
"Leave me alone Xavier, now's not the time." I said yanking my hand out of his grasp. I continued to walk off but Xavier still not getting the point that I wanted to be left alone came and grabbed my arm again turning me towards him.
"I'm not going to leave you alone Chloe, not now, not ever. I did that once and It backfired on me, I was stupid and foolish to do that, but not anymore. Whatever happens and whatever you say, I will not leave you alone Chloe, I won't I just won't because I love you!" He said looking me in the eyes. "Chloe Maka, I love you!" he said moving closer to me. I was speechless, he was confessing his love to me. I've been waiting two years for him to say this, so hearing him say it made my heart swell, but I've been hurt so many times, I just can't deal with any more pain.
I took a step back, I won't allow myself into any more situations where there is a possibility I will get hurt again. "Chloe please, let me make up for those two horrible years I made you go through. I promise you, you won't regret it." He pleaded as he took a step towards me.
I waved my hand in a dismissive manner, stopping him from taking any more steps towards me. "Xavier don't!" I said. I can't take any more of his apology. Its affecting me so badly, not in a bad way, but in a good way. His making me feel happier but I just can't forgive him, what he did was unforgivable. "Please." I whispered as I looked anywhere but him.
"I won't stop until you're mine Chloe, no matter how long it takes, I'll be waiting for you. Even if it takes until my last breath." He said, no sign of any lie. "At least I'll die a happy man." He told me grabbing my chin and turning my head so I was looking directly at him, as he stared into my eyes.
A single tear escaped from my eye falling freely on my cheek. Xavier wiped it away with his thumb, causing sparks to erupt all over my body. He smiled to when I guess he felt it too. I just moved his hand away from me. "I'm sorry Xavier but I just can't." I said backing away from him. He looked kind of taken back. He was about to ask me why, but I didn't let him. "What Maya said was right, only someone stupid will go back to the person who treated them like crap." I said sadly. "And if they do, then they're just pathetic and weak." I said sighing as i looked at the trees behind him.
"So you're just going to listen to what Maya had to say, and ignore everything I have just said." He told me looking hurt. I was about to reply but he beat me to it. "There is nothing weak with giving someone a second chance, it shows how kind hearted you are."
"Yeah in other words, how weak you are." I replied in a flat tone.
"No it shows how strong a person is. Forgiving someone is never easy to do, it only takes someone with strength and a lot of heart to forgive someone." He told me truthfully. I was going to say something but again he beat me to it. "But as I said, I don't care what you say, or what happens, I am never leaving you." He said reaching for my arm.
I just moved away and continued to walk. He didn't stop me, he let me walk, and I was glad I needed to refresh my mind. I continued to walk to the mall until I heard someone behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a smirking Xavier. I was about to ask him what he was doing but most probably reading my mind he said, "I told you I'm not leaving you."
"So you're going to stalk me?" I said squinting my eyes at him. He just shrugged his shoulders. I rolled my eyes and ignored him.
I walked in to the mall and went straight to EB games. Don't judge I love my video games. "I went straight to the wrestling game area. I saw the new UFC game and I instantly knew what I was going to buy. Grabbing it excitedly I walked over to the cash register, but then in the corner of my eyes I swear I saw Corona and Corey kissing. I did a double take but there was no one there. What the hell? I just ignored it, cause there both at training. I went to turn around until I bumped into someone.
"Ow." We both said as we held onto our foreheads, well I held onto mine and he held on to his chest. "Gosh, are you related to a brick wall or something." I said rubbing my head.
He just laughed. "I was about to ask you the same thing." He said looking at me.
I looked up at him and it was Chase. "Well then to answer your question, yes, yes I am." I joked as he laughed. "Anyways aren't you meant to be at training." I asked as I went to pay for my game.
"To answer your question, training finished early today." He said following me around. He looked at the game I bought. "You like UFC?" he asked shocked.
"A tad bit sexist there, don't you think Chase." I joked. He just looked down, not knowing what else to do. "Yes, I love UFC, but my all time favourite is grand theft auto." I told him to break the awkward silence.
"Mine too." He said looking up at me. "You wanna go walk around the mall?" he asked shyly.
"Sure." I replied happily. "So where's everyone else?" I asked as we walked around.
"Don't know, Scott said Corona was going to be here, so I came to check on her, but I just found you." He said scratching his head. "You didn't happen to have seen her?" he asked.
"Uhh I'm not sure, I saw someone who looked like her." I told him truthfully.
"Oh ok. It's just that she's been acting weird." He said looking worried.
"What do you mean weird?" I asked, Corona has always been unique in a weird way.
"Well she's been acting more girly, she's really secretive now and she decides to go places without telling me, like now and last night when she slept at your house. I don't know if I did anything or said anything to her that would make her hate me." He said sadly.
"I'm pretty sure she doesn't hate you." I said patting his shoulder. "She might dislike you at times, but never hate." I said jokingly, to reduce the negative tension in the air. "Anyways, sounds like she has a crush on someone." I told him.
"On who?" he asked sternly. I looked taken back, I've never seen Chase angry. He calmed down and apologized.
"Sorry, it's just, well you know how Corona is, she speaks her mind, she's stubborn, quick tempered and well the list goes on. We tolerate it because she's our friend, but I don't think anyone else would and well if she does have a crush on someone, I'm afraid they won't like her back and well break her heart." He said looking at the ground.
"Trust me that will never happen, I'm sure Corona won't fall for someone she knows she wont have a chance with." I said making him a bit happier.
"You know what would cheer you up?" I sang and he just gestured for me to continue. "The food court." I yelled, grabbing his arms and walking towards the food court.
We were currently at Subway laughing at the joke he told him. We ordered a foot long each and two cookies, as it came for free if we bought a foot long. While we were having an argument over who got which cookie, Xavier came and interrupted. He came and sat next to me, slinging his hand over my shoulder. In disgust I shoved his hand away, as Chase laughed at him.
"What are you looking at?" Xavier said to Chase trying to cover up his embarrassment.
"Not you." I said getting up and sitting beside Chase. "Sorry about him, he just recently came out of the mental clinic. Yeah his a bit slow, up there." I said pointing at his head as Xavier just held onto my hand and smiled when I retaliated and tried to pull my hand back. I just rolled my eyes and with so much force I yanked my hand back and smiled a satisfied grin.
There was an awkward silence, and I was getting uncomfortable just sitting there, while Xavier kept staring at me, while Chase is whispering jokes about Xavier into my ear. I just wanted to punch him, because I wanted to laugh, but it was just so awkward that I felt if I did anything, it would make this even more awkward. 'I bet you 5 bucks that Xavier sleeps with a photo of you next to him' Chase whispered in my ear.
I immediately stiffened as heat began to rise into my cheeks, and Chase just chuckling in my ear as he sat straight. Before Xavier could question what happened, I said, the only thing that came to my mind. "What are you doing tonight Chase?" and immediately I knew I chose the wrong choice of words.
"You." He said jokingly as he bit his lips and flipped his hair out of his eyes. I immediately shoved him as Xavier growled a vicious low growl. I turned towards Chase and began to have a mental argument with him.
"I'm just playing you." Chase said amused as he held his hands up in surrender. "I'm going out with Scott and Corey." He said and immediately gasped. "Crap, I wasn't meant to tell you." He said running his hands through his hair.
"Where are you's going?" I asked feeling rejected.
"To the club, it's a boys night out." He said, giving up since he knows I won't stop until I get the answer.
I smiled. "Not anymore." I said smirking. "Count me in." I said.
"And me too." Xavier said sternly as both Chase and I looked at him like 'who the hell do you think you are? no one invited you' But seeing the seriousness in his face I just sighed and gave up.
"Well anyways I'm going home now." I said looking at Xavier as he grinned and got up, getting ready to walk me. "So come on Chase, let's go." I said, as Xavier looked shocked.
I ain't going to let Xavier get me back anytime soon. I dragged chase with me and we hurried off, but not before I turned back towards Xavier, "See you tonight." I said winking as Xavier stiffened and he blushed. Oooh it's going to be fun messing with Xavier, now that Maya is out of the picture. Dear alpha you are going to regret rejecting me and making me cry.
