Chapter 24
Chloe's P.O.V
I woke up the next day feeling angered as all the memories from last night flooded my mind. I swear if anything happens to my family, I WILL get my revenge, on both Hunter and Xavier. I can't believe he won't tell me!
I got up and got ready to go train Xavier's pack. Wearing my black Nike training tights and my purple Nike training tank top and topping it off with my purple free runners I made my way downstairs while putting my hair in a high ponytail.
When I got downstairs, all of my pack was already there except for Scott. I looked around and I couldn't find Corey as well. Oh no! don't tell me they already went after Hunter. I walked off towards Chase and Corona. "Where's Scott and my brother?" I asked worried.
They both looked at each other, wondering who should tell me. I looked at them sternly, and immediately Chase answered looking slightly worried himself. "They took off this morning, not telling us where, but it's obvious they're going after Hunter." He said while rubbing the back of his neck.
"And you let them go!" I yelled, getting angry.
"I had no choice. He used his Alpha tone on me. We all have to stay here and train and go on as if everything is normal." Chase replied slightly irritated. I clenched my fists as my jaws tensed. My brother and cousin are out there in danger, and the pack can't do anything because Scott ordered them.
I walked off furiously. I can't believe this! They went without me! If anything happens to them I'd blame myself for not being there for them. Since Corona and Chase were partners for training I was stuck with Adam. This day couldn't have gotten any worse. But as usual it did.
Xavier came running up to the group I was training. He just stood there while Adam explained what the group would be doing. Atleast it was just Xavier, if Elena was part of this group, I swear I would've killed someone.
My group began to start there training. They were doing circuits, working on their speed, power and agility. The only person who didn't participate was Xavier, as he was growling at Adam, who stood by my side. "Get going Xavier!" Adam said while glaring at him.
"Don't tell me what to do, mutt!" Xavier growled out taking a step towards Adam.
I came and stood in between them pushing them away from each other. "Xavier go!" I said sternly, not caring how harsh I sounded. Scott and Corey are off looking for Hunter and I'm still mad at Xavier for not telling me what he knows.
Xavier looked at me with a pained look, but I didn't care, I glared at him and he just nodded his head and ran towards the rest of the group who were on their second round of the circuit.
Now it was just Adam and I, standing there, observing our group. I didn't say a word to him, since last time we were together, we both left on bad terms. "Chloe?" Adam said
I just ignored him, still observing the group really closely in case they had any weaknesses they needed to fix. "Chloe." Adam said grabbing my arm.
"What do you want?" I snapped back, moving out of his grip. He looked shocked, but didn't say another word. I just rolled my eyes as I resumed giving my attention to the group.
"Look, can we please talk?" He pleaded.
"There's nothing to talk about." I said not once looking at him.
"Chloe, you and I both know that's not true." He said grabbing my shoulders and turning me towards him. In the distance I heard Xavier growl, I just ignored him. Adam looked into my eyes. "Chloe, what I said, there was no excuse for it. I was a jerk and a complete dick."
He said staring deep into my eyes, and there was no sign of him lying. "Chloe I'm sorry ok, I'm sorry. I can't stand it seeing you and knowing that you hate me. We were close friends." He said letting go of me, but not breaking eye contact. "And I miss how close we use to be. I miss my best friend." He said sadly.
I won't lie, I did miss him too, we were really close after all, and he did kind of save my life and not to mention he gave me light during my darkest days. I just sighed not knowing what to do. "Please Chloe? I miss you." He pleaded.
"Adam." I sighed. "as much as I want to forgive you and have my best friend back, you hurt me too deep and I don't think I can ever forget what you did. I felt betrayed by YOU, my. best. friend" I told him as his hopeful smile turned into a frown.
"But Chloe, you must understand what it's like, you of all people should know that when you meet your mate, you can't help but forgive them for everything they've put you through because your made for each other. You can't help but love them and want to be with them.. despite everything they may have done in the past... I love her Chloe, I love her"
"Even after everything she has done to me? Everything she put me through?!"
"Even after everything she has done I still love her" I can see the truth in the expression on his face and I can't help but think of Xavier.
I know I'm still attracted to him and no matter what we will always belong together but can I really put everything he put me through in the past and move on, maybe, its not like I haven't considered it but he is still hiding things from me.
"I know what you mean Adam, and I guess I would be a hypocrite to stay mad at you when even after everything Xavier put me through I can't hate him.. but I can dislike him so I don't understand why you forgave her so quickly " I said getting all up on his face.
Adam was about to say something but suddenly I was viciously ripped away from him. Thinking it was a jealous Xavier, I was ready to rip off his head, but as I turned around I was face to face with his little annoying sister. That wasn't going to stop me. "Speak of the devil and she shall appear." I said in an icy tone.
"What do you want Elena?" I yelled at her. I was ready....to...rip...her...head...off.
Soon Elena was by Adam's side too, glaring at me. Well isn't this the best day ever? Note the sarcasm.
"Stay away from my mate!" She yelled and Adam immediately nudged her telling her to stop. "If you're own mate didn't want you, what makes you think MY mate would." She said with a snobby attitude. Xavier just growled at her.
"Calm your farm, I wasn't hitting on Adam." I told her. I was so not bothered for Elena. "Just stop being jealous of me for once, but then again you should be, because Adam and I have a history." I told her simply, smiling as I saw her face show a bit of hurt. "And you know what they say, history always repeats itself." I provoked her, I couldn't help it, shes make me so mad.
Both Xavier and Elena growled. Elena looked at Adam, hoping he would say something, he just smiled at me, I returned the smile, ignoring both Xavier and Elena's growls. Elena just clung onto Adam's hand, trying to rub it in my face that they're together.
I just laughed.
"Elena go back to your group, we're training." I said in a dry tone. She just scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah keep rolling your eyes, maybe you'll find a brain back there." I said in a fake happy tone as I smiled brightly at her.
Xavier just laughed as a small smile made its way onto Adam's face, but as soon as Elena looked at him, it vanished. "Don't worry about her. You just go back to training." He said as he kissed her forehead and pushed her in the way towards her group. He looked at me accusingly.
"Hey it's working progress alright." I said holding my hands up in surrender. Adam just laughed before he turned towards Xavier.
"GET BACK TO TRAINING!" Adam yelled at him. This was the second time he had to say it, so I don't blame him for screaming. Xavier just stood his ground and didn't flinch. They were standing head to head. This isn't good. I still remember when they got into a fight, Adam didn't stand a chance.
I went and stood in between them again, facing Adam. "Don't worry I got this." I said. "Go check on our group." I told him as he just rolled his eyes in annoyance but obeyed what I said. I turned towards Xavier and glared at him. "When a pack warrior commands you to do something, you do it!" I said strictly.
Xavier flinched at my tone of voice. "Is that why you and Adam are talking again, cause he commanded you to." He replied with so much hate and jealousy.
I just rolled my eyes at him as I sighed in frustration. He is going to be the death of me. "Just go back to training that is an order!" I said ignoring his question.
"I know you're mad that I can't tell you." He replied grabbing my arm.
I stared at him in fake disbelief. "You don't say." Sarcasm dripping off each word I said.
"It's better if you don't know." He pleaded as he grabbed my other arm and looked into my eyes.
I shrugged him off. "You either tell me...or you get the hell out of my face." I said shoving him away from me as I walked towards Adam who was leading our group back inside. "What's going on?" I asked confused.
"Trainings finished for the day." He said slightly amused as he continued to lead our group back inside.
I just took a deep breath in and exhaled, trying to calm myself down. I turned around and I felt myself getting even angrier. There in all his glory stood Xavier, waiting for me. It was only us two on the field. I just walked straight past him, ignoring everything about him.
"Chloe please?" He called out after me, but I kept walking. "Chloe!" he called out louder.
I stopped, but didn't look back at him. "Are you going to tell me?" I said annoyed, knowing he wasn't going to.
"Chloe you need to understand." That did it! I turned around and walked back up to him and stood directly in front of him, even though he towered over me since he was taller.
"No, you need to understand! Scott and Corey are out there looking for Hunter, and I'm stuck here with you." I said with so much venom, he looked taken back. "So if anything happens to them." I said staring directly into his eyes. "I'll make your life a living hell. Hunter won't be the only one you need to worry about." I said poking his chest angrily.
"You make me seem so heartless love." Someone said, making me break eye contact with Xavier's.
"Hunter!" Both Xavier and I growled out as Xavier stood in front of me in a protective stance. I pushed Xavier out of the way and staunched up to Hunter and slapped him across the face. "You bastard!" I shouted as I kept punching him, yet he didn't flinch.
He caught my hand as I went to punch him again. "Love, you're hurting me." He said with fake hurt as he placed my hand over his chest. I cringed in disgust.
"Mine! Let go of her!" Xavier growled, grabbing my arm from Hunter and placing me behind him.
"Careful now Xavier, don't want to start something you can't finish." Hunter threatened as he stretched his arms.
"If it's necessary I will." Xavier growled out as his grip on my arm tightened. "She's mine!"
Hunter growled back sending a meaningful look towards Xavier as he took a step forward. "Is that a challenge?"
I however was fed up. I have no idea what there fighting about. "CAN ONE OF YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!" I asked frustratedly as I yelled at both of them.
Hunter raised an eyebrow and looked at Xavier with an amused smile. "Are you going to tell her or shall i?"
Xavier's body tenses as he watched Hunter step forward and take my hand in his.
"Let me tell you a story love." He said caressing my hand.
What did I get myself into?
