Zane âI'm the one who put myself in this predicament. Whatever the sacrifice is, I'll make it.â | paused, thinking of how little time we had left. Tm supposed to meet the witch at the Stillwood Inn in three days. How long will it take to get the wolvesbane and whatever else we need? And how long does it take to work?â
âI've already ordered it.â Lanie said quietly. âIt wonât be delivered to the house for safety and anonymity.
We'll have to go pick it up.â
âIn Stillwood?â Xander asked.
She shook her head. âOutside of town. Iâm waiting for the message to let me know when we can p âWhat's the âWhat's the sacrifice?â Mason asked Gabriela sighed, âPermanent infertility. I'd imagine it could result in temporary or permanent impotenc âF uck that,â Xander snarled.
| wasnât happy about the idea | could never sire a pup of my own, or that my d ick would stop working.
âWhat else?â
âOr gan damage, leading to failure. Itâs very toxic,â Gabriela said.
Lanie nodded. âWeâd need ash, belladonna, raspberry leaf, Salt. Some other things | canât think of. | wrote it all down.â
âEasy enough to get all the rest of that online or in town,â Mason said. âBut...dude, you donât want to risk taking this shi t, do you? It sounds like it could really f uck you up.â
âIt could kill him,â Xander bit out. âSo, no f ucking way!
âIt's probably our only option,â | shot back. âUnless you can find another way for me to tell a witch | decided | donât really want to knock her up. Pretty sure breaking a vow made with a binding spell would also f uck me up pretty good.â
âIf sheâs desperate enough to allow you inside her body and to make her pregnant,â Gabriela said, Td say sheâs definitely not going to just let you walk away. Or if she does, sheâll demand it out of one of you.â
She pointed at Mason, then at Xander.
âAnd that absolutely cannot happen, as Iâm sure | do not need to tell you how very, very badly giving a witch access to an Alphaâs powers would go,â Gabriela finished. She gave me a sad look. Tm sorry, Zane, but | do think you will have to at least make the effort of breeding with her in order to fulfill the vow.â
But if | take this concoction, potion, whatever it is, it'll make it so | canât get her pregnant? Or | wonât be to perform, or what?â | swallowed some wine, but it tasted like gasoline.

Lanie frowned.
âThat won't stop her from getting what she wants,â Gabriela said. âShe can force him to an ejaculation without needing an erection.â
Xander recoiled. âThe f uck you say!â
âHey, Iâm not a fan of the idea, either.â | went to him and put my arms around him so | could force him to look into my eyes. âBut we're going to make sure she canât do that. Okay?â
He shook his head fiercely. âI donât want you to do this sh it, Zane. | donât want you risking your f ucking life...F uck! This is all so f ucked.â
âIf he canât get it up for her, that might be enough to make her call it off?â Mason suggested. âSheâs probably not used to men not being able to get hard for her.â
âIt won't matter,â Gabriela told him.
â| think we have to let him...â Lanie coughed into her fist. Her cheeks bloomed crimson. She wouldn't at me. âHe has to f uck her.
He has to go through the entire process of at least pretending heâs trying to get pregnant, so thereâs no way she can claim he broke the vow. But with the right combination of wolvesbane a the other ingredients, we can make him incapable of impregnating her.
me.â
âThatâs what we'll do, then,â | said firmly, holding onto Xander as he tried to squirm away. âHey, Look at | waited until he did. âWe both know that fatherhood has nothing to do with who donates the sperm, and everything to do with who raises and loves the child. Right? We have three infants in this house right now that prove that. Anyway...â | faced Lanie.
âHow can we even be sure that any of this is going to work?â
âIt's going to work. | feel it. The Goddess is guiding me,â Lanie replied with such confidence | was. immediately convinced.
It all felt like sh it, though.
âDo you trust me, Zane?â Lanie got up from the table to join me and Xander.
After a second, so did Mason. The four of us made a circle, shoulder to shoulder. | closed my eyes and bowed my head to give my answer.
âYes. With my life. Always.â
