"Absolutely not!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air as I paced in front of the bed. All four of my mates were causally seated on the piece of furniture, looking as calm as ever as I tried to reason with them. "The point of this get together between Rhys and I is to catch up. If you four are there it's going to be awkward and I don't need you terrorizing him the whole night! Don't you think you've scared him enough?" I rambled, crossing my arms over my chest as they patiently waited for me to finish.
We've been at it for 10 minutes now. With me pleading with them to let me go out without them and them just simply shutting me down. It made me so frustrated that I actually pondered the fact of just sneaking out and ending this conversation. But I knew that sneaking out would be nearly impossible with them. I remember having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night a few days ago and as soon as I tried to climb over them to get there, they all shot up with a growl. I recalled jumping in fright at their reactions, not at all expecting for them to hear me because of how quiet I was being. Apparently, they have become so accustomed to me lying in the middle of them that even the slightest movement from me has them on full alert.
"You are not going to a night club without one of us." Louis states firmly, complete disregarding what I said and bringing me out of my thoughts.
I cried out in frustration, stomping my foot on the ground like a child. "You're not listening to me! I don't want any of you watching over me at the club. I want to spend time with my friend alone." I exhaled loudly, bordering on screaming because of how unfair they're being. "Why aren't you willing to compromise?"
"Angel, I think we're the only ones who are trying to compromise. You want to spend time with your friend alone? Fine, it will be in the safety of a dorm room where we know any possible threats will stay away. Yet you insist on this night club, so, we are bending once again with the condition that one of us will be there to supervise - not even all four of us, one. And you say we are the ones being unfair?" Liam laid out sternly, clearly not amused by my tantrum. I bit my lip, my eye brows furrowing as I watched him get up from the bed slowly and make his way over to my frustrated frame. "I don't think you're understanding that there is a gang of feral wolves who have it out for us. They will snatch you at any moment that you seem vulnerable. What better place to get you than at a night club, away from any protection and with an Omega friend? I'm honestly surprised that that mate of your friend is letting his Omega go out on his own."
I froze, not daring to meet his eyes as I processed what he was saying. Okay, so I may have left out the fact that Greyson is indeed going to be with us at the club because then I know for sure they would never let me go. Liam didn't like me being with him when he was in the room, imagine if none of them were there. But now I almost want to spill that Grey will be there and that Rhys and I won't be left unprotected. Although I doubt that will really alter their decision so I continue to keep it to myself.
"I swear to you I will be fine." I pleaded, looking up into Liam's eyes and trying to look as sincere as I could. "The club will be full of people and I promise I'll never stray away from the crowd and you can even pick me up and drive me there! Just please please let me go." I begged, grabbing his hand in both of mine to add to the affect. I looked at my other mates pleadingly, even jutting out my bottom lip.
I watched as they all shared a look with each other and seemed to be internally communicating. I bit my lip in anticipation, waiting patiently.
Finally, I heard Liam sigh after a nod from the other boys, "Fine." I squealed, immediately launching myself at him. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck as my legs tangled themselves around his waist. I felt his hands under my thighs to support me as I continued to show my excitement by busting his ear drums. "On a couple conditions." My happiness died down a little as I pulled back to look at him. "You don't drink more than 3 cocktails. This way, if by chance anything happens, you are well aware."
"Deal!" I agreed quickly, bouncing contently all over again.
"And you accept no drinks from anyone but the bartender, and you have to promise you'll watch him make it to ensure he's not adding anything funny." Zany pipped in from his spot on the bed, looking at me pointedly.
"Okay!" I accepted, still perched on Liam's waist.
"You don't dance with anyone other than Rhys. If I can smell another man on you once you get home, you can forget about your night outs without us." Niall warned, all emotion void from his face accept seriousness.
"Okayyy..." I whined, "I would never cheat on any of you." I promised in complete honesty, slightly offended that they would even need to make that a rule.
"It's not you we don't trust, baby. It's the one's around you that we worry about." He assured me, making me nod in understanding.
"I promise I won't talk to anyone but Rhys."
"Good boy." Pride swelled in my chest from the praise and a wide grin made it's way onto my face as I blushed.
"We will be driving you to and from the bar and you will have your phone on loud. We expect a text every hour saying you are fine. So help me Harry if you don't follow this rule then we will assume you are in danger and turn that whole bar upside down. Understood?"
"Every hour?" I groaned, kicking my feet in annoyance.
"Every hour." He growled, his eyes flashing to show the seriousness of the rule. "This is all for your safety, Harry. We literally wouldn't survive if you were taken from us. It's even worse that we're not mated yet, so we don't have the mate link to communicate and our marks aren't on your shoulder to keep others away, so we're putting all of our trust in you. Is it clear why we're so hesitant to let you go out without us?" I nodded at his words, fully aware that they're doing this for my protection. It's because of the damn Seekers.
"I promise to follow all your rules if you guys promise to not have me watched tonight." I responded at last, looking at all of them seriously.
"We already said we wouldn't follow you -"
"I'm talking about the men you hire to stalk me all day and keep you updated." They all paused, looking at each other and doing that inner communication thing again.
"Stop that!" I growled, slapping Liam's shoulder and falling back on my feet. "Stop communicating through the Alpha link to each other so I can't hear. Even if we aren't mated yet I still think I should be aware of any discussions you four are having. Aren't you the ones who said this," I motioned between all of us, "is a team effort?"
They all sighed. Liam turned my face towards him to get my attention once again, "Angel we promised to not be at the club because you argued we scare your friend and draw too much attention. The guys we hire to watch you will remain unnoticed and we swear you'll not even remember they're there."
"No, no! I refuse! I don't want to be stalked! Now I want you to swear to me that I will not be watched or else I won't follow any of your other rules. We're compromising remember?" They all seemed very pissed about me arguing this factor but I couldn't find it in me to care. I will stand my ground because I don't want to live the rest of our lives feeling like I won't get a say in things. Now I know they like to feel in control and I do like their guidance but they have to be willing to budge on some things for me.
"We aren't budging on this Harry." Liam said firmly, his expression hardening.
"You're not budging on anything!" I threw my hands up in exasperation. This is exhausting! One moment it feels like I'm getting my way and then the next they go and add in another condition and it's like we're back a square one. "I'm not a child! I don't need to be under constant surveillance. I can handle myself perfectly fine. I did before we met each other and I will now." I said strongly, crossing my arms over my chest as I looked at them all furiously.
"You were fine because the Seekers didn't know you were our mate. For god sakes Harry I want to just forget about this conversation all together and chain you to the bed! Can't you see this isn't easy for us either?" Niall groaned, getting off the bed and making his way over to me. "Letting you leave is like putting a sign on your back that you're free to take. It's only natural for an Alpha to want to protect his Omega, but then add to the fact that there are four of us and we are four of the top Alphas in the world...it intensifies everything. I know this is hard on you and you're overwhelmed but we want you to try and see it from our side of it. We're trying to work with you on things like we promised but there are just some things that we can't let happen. And letting you out at night without any surveillance is one of them."
I buried my face in my hands as I listened to him speak. With every word I knew he was being sincere and I just am going to have to get used to all the attention after being ignore my life. "Fine." I sighed loudly, dropping my hands from my face. "But I want to pick out the person watching me and I want to meet them first. This way I know who's going to be following me around all night."
They all grinned at that, "Deal."
-----
"So we meet again." I sighed, pouring a cup of coffee for the man sitting at the kitchen counter. It was the same man who had been watching me at the cafe with Rhys and Greyson. Only this time, I'm meeting him on slightly more friendlier terms.
The boys had agreed to leave me and their 'watch guard' - who I now learned was named Jemiah - while they went to talk to Niall's father in his office. They mentioned it had something to do with the unity of their packs but they didn't go into too much detail. I assume it's way too complicated anyways and even if I want to be involved in their lives, pack business doesn't really seem...intriguing to me.
"So we do." Jemiah smiled, showcasing his slightly crooked teeth. He actually had a nice smile, I noticed. His teeth were oddly very white and he had two very deep dimples at the sides of his mouth. I also noticed how blue his eyes were. They were nothing like Louis or Niall's but they were captivating none the less. "I heard your Alphas are letting you out tomorrow night."
I narrowed my eyes, "They're not letting me do anything. I am in control of myself but as a good mate I ran it by them."
"Mhmm..." He trailed off, "Anyways, why is it you wanted to meet me beforehand?"
I blushed and cleared my throat, passing him his mug of coffee. I remained silent for awhile, watching as he took a sip and waiting for me to continue. "Yeah about that..." I trailed off, rubbing my arms anxiously. "I have a favour I need to ask you..." I peeked up at him, noticing his raised brow and intrigued expression.
"Oh?"
"Yeah." I sighed. Damn this is so much harder than I thought. When I rehearsed this conversation before he came I thought it would go a lot smoother. "Look." I eventually got out, knowing that it'd be easier to just rip the bandaid off. "The reason I wanted to meet you is because I needed to make sure you could keep something a secret from my mates." He seemed about ready to protest to whatever I was going to say next after that but I held my hand up. "Just hear me out!" I pleaded desperately. "I may have told a fib to them about a small little detail on my plans for going out. In my defence I didn't realize they'd have someone watching me so I was hoping I could just get away with it and never mention it again." I rambled, blushing at Jemiah's clearly unimpressed face.
"What's the little fib?" He asked sarcastically, making me bite my lip.
"I-I told them it would just be me and my friend Rhys, who's an Omega but the truth is... Rhys' Alphas going to be there too. But he's my friend too so it really shouldn't be that big of deal!"
"So then why is it?" He questioned in confusion.
"What?"
"That big of a deal? If he's your friend then why does it matter if he's there?"
"Because my mates don't like that he's an Alpha and that I was roommates with him before I met them. Plus Grey wasn't exactly the nicest to them when they first met and vice versa so they don't really have the best history. And if I told them that Rhys is bringing his mate they'd ask why I couldn't bring mine." I spilled, burying my face in my hands as I explained. Thankfully Jemiah listened to me as I laid out the situation but he kept his face emotionless. "Him being there won't be of any danger I promise! I just need you to not tell them he's there! I beg you," I clasped my hands together, my eyes widening in a pleasing way, "if they found out I'll never be allowed out on my own again."
He remained silent for a couple minutes, processing my words in his head. Eventually, he released a deep breath, "Look Harry, I feel for you. I really do. It must be hard to have four really protective and possessive mates...but..." My face dropped at that. "They're technically my bosses and I can't lie to them. If they ask me who was there with you I can't lie to them. I could lose my position in the pack. Plus, watching over you is what's paying my brothers tuition to attend this University. If your mates find out and tell Professor Horan, my little brother could get kicked out. You have to understand." He explained seriously, his expression showing how firm he was.
"I would never let them do that!" I gushed, being completely honest. "I swear if you got caught I would make sure I took the full blame."
He seemed to be pondering it because of the amount of sincerity in my voice.
"Please..." I whispered, my voice cracking.
"Okay." He sighed, giving in. "I will not tell them your little Alpha friend is there if they do not ask. Because technically if they don't ask, I'm not lying. But if they do directly ask me, I'll have no choice but to tell the truth. I'm sorry Harry, family comes first." He bargained, honestly seeming sympathetic for my situation.
"It's okay, I appreciate you trying though. And I promise, if I get caught, and I'm praying I don't, I will take full responsibility. I won't let them do anything to you or your brother." I said firmly, being completely serious. I know that my mates have a tendency to be very firm on their decisions but if I really want something, I know how to get it from them.
Jemiah smiled at me, drinking more of his coffee. I looked at the time, noticing that we still have about a half and hour before the boys return from their meeting. I didn't really want Jemiah to leave so soon though, because I didn't want to have to be cooped up in the dorm alone.
"So," I began, trying to make conversation. "You said you were a part of their pack? Which one of their packs are you apart of?"
"Louis." He answered, chuckling at my attempt to fill the silence. "I'm one of his top warriors. I'm a beta ranking wolf but I was chosen as one of the warriors. You know, since packs can only have one true beta." I nodded at his words, vaguely aware of how packs are run from what my pack back home was like. My pack wasn't really a united one. We rarely had pack meetings and if we did, they never lasted long enough to be considered anything important. The Alpha of our pack was a skittish man who was more of a coward than anything. He had his beta do all the talking for him and rarely dealt with any pack issues directly.
Anyways, each pack has one Alpha and one Beta normally, but I guess the rule isn't really set in stone so it could be changed. Well I guess it will since my mates are all planning to be Alphas of one united pack. Then in the pack you have a Gamma, which is typically a beta ranked wolf or a low ranked Alpha that didn't make the actual position of Alpha or Beta. Which is actually what Greyson is. He's an Alpha by blood but he's not his pack Alpha. He's the Gamma of his pack and from what I heard, he enjoys the position.
And then of course you have the warriors in the pack which could be lower ranked Alphas or Betas and then at the bottom of the food chain you have the Omegas. Omegas can be given a warrior status but it's rare and very unlikely. Though Omegas do still have to train as every other pack member does so they are still able to protect themselves if need be.
I got so lost in my thoughts I didn't even hear the front door opening and the scents of my mates filling the air.
"Well it's been fun chatting with you, Harry. See you tomorrow night." I smiled and waved at him as he left, mouthing a small 'thank you' which he accepted with a smile.
"Hey precious." I looked up just in time for me to be picked up off the ground and into the arms of one of my handsome mates. "You miss us?" He smirked, making me nod with a blush as he kissed my cheek sweetly.
We have yet to come to lip kisses yet but I have a feeling they're not far off. Knowing my mates, they're waiting for the perfect moment.
"So what'd you and Jemiah talk about?" Louis asked as he collected said mans mug from the counter to put in the dish washer. My face immediately heated up, not knowing what to say. I slightly squirmed on Zayn's hip, my arms tightening around his neck.
"O-Oh... just getting to know each other." I answered, technically not lying. The boys seemed to accept that answer and started talking amongst themselves making me let out a breath.
Oh god, this lying thing is so much harder than I thought. If they ever found out that I've been lying to them, Niall's previous words may just come true and they might literally chain me to the bed.
I buried my face in Zayn's neck. I just have to stay strong for a couple more days. C'mon Harry, you can do it...I hope.

It doesn't have to be zianourry it doesn't even have to be one direction! I'm just looking for some good reads :) preferably a book that isn't too short either!
