Chapter 54: 53 - Forbidden

He's BackWords: 13015

Ι looked down to my feet, and then at the very concerned boy. I felt like the most horrible person to have walked the earth, as I had no idea what to respond. In front of me stood Noah, a good friend and a person who had the guts to tell me how he felt for me, without me having to beg for that confession.

But then why was Aiden the only person in my mind? The same guy that had told me he's loved me for years, was now making out with someone else in front of me and even though I was certain I couldn't stand to participate in this theatre play anymore, he was the only one I wanted to be with.

"Please, say something" Noah pleaded, taking my hands in his own. I looked at him, probably resembling a deer in headlights, and opened my mouth to speak, the words struggling to leave my mouth "I- I need some air" I said, going for the most cowardly choice.

I turned on my heel, trying my best to find the door as my vision was blurry and my head was buzzing, the music only making things worse. On my way out, I bumped into a couple that was most likely cursing me for ruining their moment.

"S-Sorry" I muttered, and my breath hitched when I realised the couple in question was Jagger and Maya. I needed to get out of that room as quick as possible, so I shoved past Jagger and nearly sprinted out, the shoes Ivory had picked for me making it even harder to do so.

I finally reached the door, cold hair hitting my face instantly and I cursed myself for forgetting my jacket inside. My back hit the wall before I slid down, my bottom hitting the concrete. I hid my face in my hands. I felt like someone had put me on a wagon of a train heading for the cliff, and I wanted to get off.

Worse part is, I am that someone.

Aiden's POV

"Wanna go to the car?" Lindsay offered, her hands moving to the hem of my pants. "We were in the car not more than half an hour ago, babe, give me a moment" I tried to convince her, and the  minute the words left my lips I understood just how much of a scum I really was.

"Fine" she said, frustrated and turned around to continue dancing on me- well, my dick. Just then, my eye caught someone sprinting outside. Evelyn? My mind went to Noah, and I wanted to get there ASAP. If he's the reason she's upset, I'm busting his face.

"Hey, I ran out of cigs, I think I'll go get some real quick" I told Lindsay, hoping she'd buy it. "Don't be late" she said, grabbing me by the colar to kiss me.

I went straight for Noah, who seemed just as puzzled as I was. "What the fuck happened?" I asked. He looked at me, regret evident on his face. "I think I fucked up" he confessed and I grabbed him by the shoulders "Why did she leave, Noah" I questioned, my patience running thin, but he seemed too in his head to answer.

"Should I go find her?" he asked "No" I replied, faster than I would've liked. "No. She probably needs space, she'll come back when she's ready" I told him, knowing damn well I was sabotaging my friend.

"Where are you going?" he asked, once he gained his cool. "To get cigarettes" I replied and he nodded. "Alright, now if you'll excuse me, I have to, uh, get drunk" he said and left without another word.

On my way out, I saw Jagger and Maya. "Did you see Evelyn?" I asked and they both looked at me, stunned. "Outside" Maya said. I got out, looking around frantically for my girl - who wasn't really mine. I found her on the floor, her hands hiding her face while her knees were brought to her chest.

My mind went to the last time I saw her in this exact stance, that night I had brought her to that party with me. I studied her, being almost able to feel her distress, and realised I never wanted to see her like that again.

Ι sat next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Eve?" she looked at me, tears in her eyes.  "Leave" she whispered, and my chest tightened.

"Don't-"

"-No you don't Aiden. Ever since you came here I've been a mess. I don't want this anymore" she said, pulling away from me. "You don't mean that" I said, feeling like someone was pulling the ground from under my feet.

"I don't know what I mean anymore. You said you want us to be together and then you came here with her. You haven't stopped touching her all night, Aiden." her voice broke and I wrecked my brain to find a good answer, but nothing came up. She was right.

As if she read my thoughts, she continued. "I know I'm right. I just don't know how many times I have to tell you, I can't wait for you anymore. This is our senior prom and I wanted to spend it with you. Now instead of that, Im here crying because of you" she said and my mouth fell open.

"I made you cry?" I questioned, my voice barely audible. "Can you just go?" she asked again. You lost, Black.

Feeling utterly defeated, I looked at my car that was parked nearby, contemplating taking it for a drive where I could remind myself how much I've truly fucked up my life, as well as hers. I got up, ready to leave, but then an idea popped in my head.

"You said you wanted to spend prom with me?" I questioned and she frowned. "What difference does that make sense, now?" she asked and I smiled, extending my hand for her to take.

"You can. Come" I told her, and she reluctantly got up, her beautiful features distorted as her cheeks were wet, her eyes were puffy and her frown deepened.

She placed her hand in mine delicately and I led us to entrance in the front of the school, walking inside quickly. "Where are we going?" she asked, her tone demanding. "You'll see" was my simple reply, and I could tell she didn't like it.

Evelyn's POV

"If you don't tell me where we're going, I'm not coming" I said firmly, taking my hand away. He sighed. "You wanted a prom. I can't take you to the real thing, so I'll make a makeshift one." he explained.

"What about your girlfriend? " I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. He came closer to me, making me lift my chin to look at him. "I'll make sure, next time you use that word, you'll be referring to yourself" he said and I gulped, trying my best to keep the tough facade going.

"Shall we?" he asked, and I nodded. He opened the door to what looked like the janitors closet. Walking inside, I looked around the room, full of boxes and old equipment.

Aiden found a box of candles from a school play and lit them. Along with the music that could still be heard from the main room, he managed to make quite the atmosphere. "It's not what you expected, but it's...something" he said and I gave him a quick smile, before going back to my act.

I knew he had the power to make me forget everything and fall right in his arms, so as much as I enjoyed the gesture I knew I shouldn't show it too much.

He closed the door behind us, looking both ways warily before doing so. he turned to me, showingh me his open hand. "Dance with me" he proposed but I didn't move. "Please" he added, his eyes losing their usual ardency.

I put my hand in his, and instantly he pulled me against him. My breath hitched as I looked up at him. His hand guided my own to his shoulders, while his went to my waist.

"Have I told you how gorgeous you look in this dress?" he asked and I shook my head. "If my memory's right you were busy complimenting Lindsay" I responded and he huffed. "If this is how you wanna play, we can play..." he stated, looking away for a moment.

"Why did you leave Noah" he let out and even though it was meant to be a question it sounded more like a demand. "That's none of your business" I quickly replied. In an instant he pulled me even closer so that my chest touched his and I would smell the whiskey in his breath. "Yes it fucking is" he stated.

"It stopped being your business when you chose to bring her here and rub It in my face" I said, and we both knew we were referring to no business, but myself. "I had to bring her here, she's getting suspicious and if she realises what's going on we'll have a lot more to worry about than your jealousy" he said. My mouth fell open and I stepped away from him.

"What exactly is going on, Aiden? 'Cause I'm starting to think there's another reason why we're still talking about this" I said, making him scoff. "Oh, really? What exactly is the reason?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and resting his back against the door, lighting a cigarette.

"You want us both" I said and he instantly chuckled. "You find it funny that I think that? How could I not?" I asked, raising my voice involuntarily. "You could fucking trust me" he yelled, walking to me. "But if you can't, and I have to ask you to, maybe we shouldn't be doing this" he said.

"Maybe we shouldn't" I agreed, my anger and jealousy getting the best of me. "You know why I left? Noah told me he's into me" I said, knowing exactly what my words were doing to him.

His eyes darkened and he threw the cigarette on the floor, putting it out with his shoe. "What?" he said, his voice dropping an octave. "You heard me. He likes me and unlike you, he wasn't too much of a wuss to tell me" I spat out, seeing how his anger was slowly starting to get the best of him.

He ran a hand through his hair, breathing through his noise sharply. "What did you do, Aiden? You told me you loved me and then fucked your girlfriend" I said.

In a split second, he had me pinned against the wall, one hand wrapped around my throat while the other one rested on the wall, right next to my head, trapping me.

"Did he touch you?" he asked, ignoring what I had just said. I looked at him, not reacting. "Fucking answer me, did he?" he asked again, through gritted teeth. The low light from the candles created more shadows on his face, making him appear scary but at the same time hauntingly handsome. His tone didn't scare me, nor the fact that he had me trapped in the janitor's closet, at his mercy.

What did scare me, was how badly I wanted to kiss him in that moment. And so I did.

The moment our lips touched, I was flooded by his taste; cigarettes and alcohol. Aiden represented a lifestyle I was always opposed to, but something about the way he did it made him undeniably irresistible. Someone could argue he seemed forbidden. Maybe that's what made me so crazy about him.

Our kiss was a mixture of anger and lust and I couldn't tell which was stronger. His grip on my throat loosened, and he placed his hand in the nape of my neck, fisting my hair while I held on to his arms.

The hand he previously was using to trap me was now lifting my leg up and hooking it on his waist. Impatient - yet much more gentle than how he was touching me a second ago - he placed me on the table next to us. My legs opened on their own accord, letting him walk between them, as I pulled him closer by his blazer, already missing his lips.

He pulled me by the waist, pressing his lips on mine, and I could feel the smirk that had formed on his lips. He pulled away, but before I had the chance to whine about it, his lips went to my neck, whiles hands traveled down my body, exploring.

I tugged on his hair, titling my head so as to give him more access. A gasp left my lips when I felt him sucking and licking the sensitive area. Wherever his hands touched, they left a hot trail on my skin.

I wanted to be the only one he touched like this, me, not Lindsay.  Lindsay. I pushed Aiden off me, standing up. "What the f-" "-You need to go back before she starts looking for you". I told him, moving over to fix his messed up hair.

I blew out the candles and opened the door. We both walked ou the room, closing the door behind us. Before I had the chance to walk away, he grabbed arm to pull me against him. He looked at me for a moment, playing with my hair before kissing me once more. I smiled into the kiss.

"I wanted one more. before we have to go back" he explained, and I placed a kiss on his cheek. "Now you have two" I told him. We both seemed to have forgotten the fight that took place not too long ago, and my main concern was for him to get back to her as quick as possible.

That's something I never thought I'd say.

We walked cautiously down the corridor, moving towards the front entrance, from which we would part ways, so that we wouldn't be seen walking inside together. Suddenly, we heard the front door slam against the wall, the sound echoing through the empty corridors.

I looked at Aiden, mouthing 'What do we do?', my eyes going wide, in fear of who had caused the sound. He simply shrugged, looking calm as ever, while my blood froze more and more by the second.

"Evelyn!"

"Cole?" Aiden and I both said, confused as ever. My brother came storming towards us and I tried my best to figure which excuse I could use to prevent Aiden's death. "Why aren't you picking up the phone, I've called you so many damn times" he said and I took a moment to study him. His eyes were red, and his face pale, distress taking over his features.

"I must've left it in my jacket, what's up?" I asked, getting incredibly anxious as he hadn't even acknowledged Aiden yet, leading me to the conclusion something serious was going on.

"You need to come home. Someone took Jason"
