Chapter 14: Chapter 13

Alpha Female's MateWords: 27096

Artemis' Pov

I never thought I would find my mate and it's not because I didn't have one or something but it just took so long to finally meet him and now that I have him, I must deal with the fact that he is a human. I'm not mad or annoyed that he is human in fact I'm quite happy he is because then it will give me an excuse to protect him. Werewolf males tend to be over protective, possessive and too arrogant for their own good so it's really nice to have a human mate.

Sitting in the car, I stare out the windows watching as the trees move past us, my mind drifting towards my mate. I can't help but worry about Storm. Was it right leaving him behind?

No it was extremely dumb of you.

I roll my eyes at my wolf, Red. She just picks the worst moment to announce her presence.

Hey don't hate on me just because I think you're stupid for leaving him.

Selena and Esme can protect him.

She does what sounds like a scoff. I can protect him much better than they can thank you very much .

Raising the mental block to shut her up, I watch as Ollie sings to every song on the radio and Damien even though he wouldn't show it I can feel how annoyed he is. I sigh at them opening the mind link to Selena.

"How is he?"

"Well he is stuffing his face with Chinese food so I'm guessing he is fine."  She shows me a mental picture of Storm sitting in front the tv watching Lucifer. I giggle at how adorable he looks focusing his attention on the show.

"Is Esme done with the spell?"

"Not yet, she basically kicked me out the moment you left. Said she needed total silence and privacy."

"Figured, well I'll check up on you again."  I shut the mind link off after she responds. I wish I was back at home with Storm, I already miss him makes you wonder how I even spent five months without him. Well if you take into consideration the training, eating and drowning myself in pack work then yes that's how I survived and it didn't help when Red kept on pushing forward to go after him.

I heard my name, I miss mate. Let's go back and let Ollie and Damien handle this.

I would have done so in the past but not this time.

Whatever. I do have a question though.

What is it?

Why the fuck did you lie to mate about your age? You and I both know you're nowhere near 19.

I gape at her in disbelief. I'm sorry and risk him running away when he hears I'm way old enough to be his ancestor yeah I think not.

She stretches her self and rolls her eyes at me. Just saying, after keeping him in the dark about what is really going. I'd thought you might I don't know be honest about this.

I regret giving you a voice.

Sounds like a personal problem. With that she shuts of the link and I purse my lips at her. Tracing the hickey he gave me, I smile remembering when he tricked me well he thought he tricked me anyway. The way his grey eyes lit up everytime he gets excited is literally my favorite thing. His eyes in general is my favorite thing, they depict exactly what his names says.

Ollie turns in his seat, smirking at me and I raise my brow. "How are you feeling?"

I scrunch my face in confusion."What do you mean? "

"You know, finally leaving the park to attend your own meetings and letting everyone know that the largest and most dangerous pack in the world has alpha."

I purse my lips at him an unimpressed look on face. "Just because no one has ever seen me before doesn't mean I should feel nervous or scared. If anything I'm intrigued on how the meeting will be."

He stares flatly at me. "You should feel scared because after all you're finally coming out from the shadows and what better way than to start with the Alpha of rogues."

"How is he like?" I question and he shrugs.

"Typical alpha male you know, proud, possessive, has anger management issues, can be a jerk, thinks he's hot and so full of himself and well you'll see for yourself." He murmurs looking forward again.

I tap Damien on his shoulder and he glances briefly at me in the rearview mirror. "How long till we reach the pack?"

"We should be there by 1pm Alpha." He says and I nod checking the time to see it's 12:45pm. I sigh opening up the console beside me, taking out the emergency snacks. Opening the bag of chips I offer some to Ollie who dips his hand in it taking almost half of it, glaring at him when he purposely chews loudly in my face. I roll my eyes at his immaturity, offering some to Damien hoping that he will refuse and he does.

Bringing the chips to my lips I think about what Ollie said about me finally exposing myself to the other packs. It's no news that everyone has been wondering whether or not my pack had an alpha and I used to find it funny when other alphas travel to my pack seeking to take the alpha position only to go back when Ollie or Selena step in to fight. I know the moment I come out its game over and well he will finally know I'm alive; that is if he already does considering the attacks.

"We're almost there Alpha." Damien says pulling me out from my thoughts. I have not stepped foot onto rogue territory before but there's always a first time for everything.

"I must warn you though they will not be welcoming." He mutters and I nod.

"I'm aware." Damien stops the car abruptly almost sending me flying from my seat when a wolves suddenly appear in front of our car surrounding us.

"A little warning next time." Ollie snaps rubbing his head that hit the window. Damien ignores him staring straight ahead at the snarling wolves. "I'll handle this." Ollie mutters opening his door and walking towards them. I shake my head at his confidence, rolling my eyes when he smiles cockily at them. Ollie might be a dickhead but he can be intimidating when he wants to, learned that the hard way.

"Whose in charge?" He questions and a grey wolf steps forward. Judging by the size and the aura he is emitting I can definitely tell he is the Beta. He snaps his jaw when Ollie takes a step forward and he rolls his eyes at him. "Do you mind shifting? I can't really talk if you're in this form."

He regards him for a minute before shifting and I avert my gaze.

I know you already peeped, no need to act like a saint. Besides who says you can't look at the menu, just don't order.  Red says and shuts the link before I can scold her.

"Who are you?" His gruff voice booms and Ollie shrugs.

"I'm here to speak with your Alpha." He replies and blondie frowns at him.

"Do you have permission?"

"Nope."

"Then I suggest you leave." He snaps and the other wolves growl taking a threatening step forward. Damien opens his door about to step in but I place my hand on his arm stopping him.

"Let him be." I say softly and he nods closing the door. We watch in silence as playful smile on Ollie's face disappears. Squaring his shoulder and somehow growing an inch taller he stares at him watching in complete silence as the wolves start whimpering, taking steps back and blondie trying his best not to feel intimidated but I can smell his fear and so does Ollie because his mouth tugs up in a slow smirk.

"I don't know what part of what I said sounded like I was asking for permission so let me say this again, take me to your Alpha." He demands calmly and he nods, sighing in relief when Ollie smiles again. He pats his cheek and walks back to the car a slight spring in his step.

He turns to me wiggling his brow and I laugh at him. "Nicely done."

"What can I say, I'm just awesome." He replies cockily and I smack the back of his head. "Not cool Artemis." he mutters and I smirk at him. Blondie shifts back into his wolf and leads the way for us.

He leads us to what I can assume is the pack house judging by the size of it. Getting down from the car, I observe my surroundings and I've got to say their pack house looks beautiful. People come out from their homes, whispering and pointing at us no doubt sensing something powerful. Some step back when I return their stare, others bow their heads and most of them growl at us.

Well this has taken different turn.

Well they should fear us.

I'm not interested in making people fear me Red.

You should, makes it more fun when they squirm in our presence.

I roll my eyes at my cocky wolf and Ollie nudges my shoulder, pushing his sunglass on the bridge of his nose and bending down to whisper in my ear. "Maybe you should  tone down the alpha thing by a lot because if you continue, you'll have people on their knees."

I frown when I realise he is right, half of them can't seem to stand up straight and I take in deep breaths reigning in the power. Sighs of relief echoes around me and Ollie pats my shoulder.

Mom she looks so pwetty and I wuv her eyes. I blush when I hear the child tell the mother that and Ollie scoffs at me.

"Lies Artemis don't let it get to your head." I give him a flat look and he smirks at me. Blondie moves to stand in front of us fully clothed this time and I stare at him curiously. From afar I couldn't a clear view of his face but now that I do even I have to admit he looks cute. His dirty blonde curls covering his forehead, dull grey eyes and a stubble adorns his face. Lean yet muscular but definitely not like Storm.

Storm has the perfect body, muscles at the right place, his jawline sharp and those plump lips of his.

"I'm Nathan, Beta of the rogues." He introduces, eyes glancing at me for a second before Damien blocks his view. He frowns at the action, shaking his head and turns to Ollie. "I'm assuming you're the Alpha."

He shrugs and doesn't bother to correct him. One would mistaken Ollie to be the Alpha because of the aura he gives out. Good thing I supresssed mine before he got here.

"We would like to see your Alpha now." He states and Nathan nods glancing in my direction again before walking towards the pack house. He opens the door and everyone stares at as. We are definitely a pair, an intimidating warrior who looks like a giant, Ollie wearing sunglasses indoors and the tiny girl between the two of them.

"It's okay everyone just go back to what it is you're doing." Nathan assures them. He turns and gasps when he stares at my eyes but composes himself quickly. "He's on the second floor." He mutters walking towards the stairs. We follow him standing behind the double doors leading to his office.

Nathan knocks. "There are some people here wishing to speak to you."

"I told you I do not wish to be disturbed." A husky voice snaps from behind the door. Nathan sighs and offers us an apologetic smile.

"I'm sorry but he is in a really bad mood so if you could wait-"

"No time to waste." Ollie murmurs and kicks the door down, Nathan gapes at him turning to look at my face and I smile sheepishly at him.

"I'll have it fixed." I mouth to him and he looks at me, then the door, at me again and sighs muttering something under his breath that sounds like 'what is with people breaking this damn down when they come here.'

"What the hell!!" A voice growls. Without a care in the world, he struts in walking over the pile of broken wood on the floor. I have never met Alex before but I have heard about him. Stories of how he was accused of killing his parents and exiled from his pack. How the ladies call him a dark prince because his beauty cannot be compared to any other but I call him jerk face.

"I'm sorry about your door." Ollie mocks completely not sorry about it. He makes himself comfortable on the chair and props his feet on the table. The alpha glares at his legs and I watch on amusingly at how furious Alex looks right now.

"If you don't get the hell out my office and my pack I'll-

"You'll nothing." He cuts him off and that seems to annoy him. Alphas hate being challenged and Ollie is doing that.

Ollie don't provoke him.

"You're no fun Artemis."  I narrow my eyes when Ollie stares at me before sighing.

"Remember I called requesting for a meeting." He states and Alex frowns.

"And I declined." He retorts and points to Nathan standing beside him. "Get these people out of my pack!"

"Yes alpha." He bows and walks towards us. Damien and Ollie rise to feet prepared to fight back and I groan. I really need answers and this is clearly not going to plan.

Moving from my position against the wall, I stand in front of them and the Alpha stares at me in surprise no doubt shocked about my violet eyes and maybe the fact that a woman is here. He gives me a once over, eyes lingering on my chest a bit longer than necessary before meeting my eyes as a smirk takes over his face. Well he definitely looks like a dark prince, black hair messy on top, a slight 3 o'clock stubble and those dark eyes sucking you in. Pink lips pulled up into a smirk with the faintest of dimples appearing on his cheek.

We should pluck his eyes out and feed it to him for staring at us. Only mate can do that. Red growls in disgust.

"Well hello there." He says licking his lips and I smile politely at me.

"Hi." I say softly. He walks closer to me and I see Damien move from the corner of my eyes.

Stand down. I order and he hesitates for a second before nodding retreating back to the corner.

He takes my hand bringing it to his lips, kissing it and it takes everything in me not to break his fingers and punch that stupid smirk right of his face.

I wouldn't mind doing that.

There's no need for that Red. I'm not a violent person.

Lies but whatever.

"Alpha Alex right?" I say still smiling.

"It's Alex to you little lady." He flirts.

My eyes twitch a bit as I offer him a tight lipped smile masking the fact that I'm irritated with his fruitless antics.

Who the fuck is he calling little. Red snaps and I nod in agreement.

Deciding to brush aside that comment and smile at him. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience but I'm in need of some answers and I think you can help me with that."

"Anything for you Miss....

"Wilder. Artemis Wilder." I say and he smiles.

"Miss Artemis how can I be of service." He purrs and Ollie gags in the background.

"Well rogues have been attacking my pack and I was wondering if you had anything to do with it?" I say going straight to the point. The smile on his face drops suddenly, stepping back and glaring at me.

"How dare you accuse my pack of attacking yours." He snaps and it's really taking so much energy to keep the smile on my face.

Jeez why so defensive, it's just a question. He probably did it anyway. Red mutters.

"I'm not accusing you I'm just asking if-

"Well enough!" The smile finally drops from my face. "Who the hell do you think you are to just waltz in here like you own the place, break down my door and lay false accusations on my pack?!" He yells taking a threatening step towards me. A hand appears in front of me pushing him back with enough force that he stumbles a bit, Nathan steps forward and Damien glares at him.

I sigh tucking my hair behind me ear, tapping Damien on his shoulder. "Thank you but I can take it from here." He glares one last time at the Alpha and steps aside.

"I don't mean to cause trouble and who I am doesn't really matter." I say softly staring straight into his eyes. He glares at the obvious challenge that I'm making by staring at him.

"Well I do not answer to little girls like you." He says furiously and I narrow my eyes at him clearly expressing my distaste for being called little.

"Not even to the Alpha of Midnight fall pack?" Ollie questions curiously and I close my eyes in frustration. Opening my eyes I see him staring at me in shock before bursting out laughing.

He eyes take me in slowly, his pupils dilating a bit and points at me. "You? The alpha? What a joke." I frown looking at myself before looking at him.

Well even I won't take you seriously with what you're wearing.

There's nothing wrong with my outfit.

Sureeeee. She says and cuts of the link

I stare flatly at the Alpha as he continues to laugh. "What is wrong about me being the alpha?" I mutter feeling offended that he would think that way.

"Was there not anyone with balls to take up the position of alpha that they left it with a little girl like you?" He says rudely and my face becomes blank.

Ollie pulls his sunglasses to his nose whistling at him."You're fucked." he mutters bringing the glasses back up and relaxes against the couch.

He needs to learn some respect. Red growls.

He looks at Ollie weirdly, a cocky look on his face when he stares at me and snorts."What are you going to do about it? Hit me with your purse?" He mocks.

Smiling innocently at him, my eyes glow and I watch in amusement as his jaw drops. Before he can utter a word, I move fast grabbing his arm and twisting it behind his back, taking a fistful of his hair and slamming the side of his face against the ugly looking desk I've being meaning to break since I got here, applying pressure to his twisted arm until I hear a snap and he screams in pain.

Pfft what a bitch. Can't even handle a broken arm.

"I suggest you take step back if you don't want to end up like your alpha." I retort calmly to Nathan and he raises his hand in surrender. Alex struggles against me and I apply more pressure. If I go any further his head will go through the table and he might lose an arm.

"The more you struggle the faster your arm will fall off." He stiffens before relaxing. "Good, now are you ready to answer my questions or should I be more convincing that I've got balls." He nods his head quickly and I release him. He jumps away from me like I'm a parasite but before he goes any further I grab his arm quickly snapping it back in place without so much as a warning

He yells in pain and Ollie rolls his eyes at him. "Pfft Alpha of Rogues my ass. More like bitch of rogues."

Smiling innocently at him I point towards his chair and he sits glaring at me. "What do you want?"

"Rogues have been attacking my pack." I repeat myself

"Not my problem." He says crossing his arms in front of him trying to look intimidating and Nathan slaps his palm against his forehead.

Bitch didn't learn his lessson, hmm dude is bold. Red says nodding her head in appreciation.

Giving him a fake smile and moving faster than he can blink I grab his head quickly slamming his nose against the table, smiling in satisfaction when I hear a crack.

Now that I think about it, it's good Storm didn't come along. Don't want mate to see this side of us. I nod in agreement, one thing I don't want to happen is for Storm to fear me.

"Fuck!!" He yells clutching his bleeding nose.

"You might be the Alpha of Rogues but do not forget this I am the Alpha." I retort calmly showing him my red eyes as his eyes widen, titling his neck to the side and submitting before me and his beta drops to his knees.

Taking back control I smile innocently at him. "Now shall we try this again?" I ask politely and this time round he agrees genuinely. "Good now as I was saying Rogues have been attacking my pack and you're the only one who accepts rogues."

"Yes but I can assure you we aren't the ones attacking your pack because my pack too is being attacked by this so called rogues." He sighs rubbing his nose and wincing in pain. He runs his fingers through his black hair in frustration.

I frown at him, "Since when?"

"It's been going on for a week that is why I had to cancel the meeting because I am traveling to meet the elders." I scoff when he mentions those pretentious  assholes.

"Trust me they are going to be of no use to you." I state as a matter a fact and he raises his brow at me.

"And how would you know?"

"I just do but let me just-

"Alpha Alex!" Someone rushes in nearly stumbling over broken door. Ollie and Damien move to stand in front of me and Alex stands to his feet abruptly knocking his chair down.

"What is it?" His tone worried and Nathan moves to his side.

"We're under attack." The guy says panting and Alex growls loudly.

Slamming his fist against the table he turns to Nathan. " Gather the warriors and make sure you get everyone to safety!" He rushes out heading straight for the door and I grab his arm stopping him.

"Let me help you." I say softly yet determined.

He shakes his head, grabbing my wrist from his arm. "I'm sorry but it's too dangerous for-

"A girl?" I cut him off and he purse his lips at me frowning. I sigh." I think it's safe to say that I'm capable so accept my help or deal with the consequences." He studies the determined look on my face and sighs.

"Fine but stay close to me." I nod my head and turn to Damien and Ollie.

"You know what to do." I say and they nod their heads as well. We  run out of the house watching as people scream running in different directions. I watch as Nathan's wolf jumps on the back of the rogue, gripping its neck and tearing a huge chunk of flesh from it. Alex growls shifting mid run into his black wolf, grabbing the tail of the rogue and flinging it across the lawn as it hits another wolf taking it out as well.

"Impressive." I mutter to myself. Taking deep breaths I ask Red.

Shift or no shift?

She comes forward staring at the situation through my eyes and retreating back to my mind. No shift, I don't want to get my paws bloody.

I roll my eyes at her but nod nonetheless. Guess I'll be getting my dress dirty then. I look around and see Nathan's wolf struggling against one. It snaps it's jaw at him and I run quickly grabbing the head and twisting it before it can sink it's teeth into him. His wolf  sends me a grateful nod and I smile at him. He gets up, running towards another and I crouch down allowing a reddish-brown wolf to fly over my head. The wolf narrows the hazel eyes at me, growling. Tilting my head to the side I watch as it whimpers, staggering a bit and shakes the head no doubt feeling drowsy. It lifts it paw to the snout, brushing against before finally dropping.

Behind you. Red says and I turn just in time to see another wolf barreling towards me before it's tackled to the ground by black wolf. He grips the neck, shaking it from side to side until it cracks and falls limp. He drops the wolf walking towards me and I've got to say his size is impressive towering over me by a foot long.

"Thank you." I whisper. He takes a step back before running to the fight again. I watch as Ollie punches the rogue in the face knocking it out instantly. He raises his head and smirks at me.

"Bet you can't do that can you?" He says smugly through the mind link and I give him a flat look. Without even answering I turn around quickly punching the rogue in the snout and I watch as it flies, taking two other rogues out, hitting the bark of a tree and breaking the tree into half.

I turn back to smirk at Ollie. "You were saying?" I taunt and he purse his lips at me giving me the middle finger before doing a back flip grabbing the tail of a  brown wolf and throwing it against the wall. This goes on for awhile until every last one of the is dead, pushing my hair from my face I throw a limb away and I hear someone yell in surprise.

"Fucking hell Artemis!!! Now I've got blood on my shirt!" Ollie pouts rubbing his blue shirt that has now got blood stains on it. He glares at me when it becomes worse and I smile innocently. I was hoping it will actually hit him. I look at my dress to see it's still white and I smile in triumph, not even a speck of dirt but can't say the same about me feet and hands though. Alex's wolf trots towards me with Nathan by the side with clothes in his arms. He shifts when he gets closer, smirking at me when I cover my eyes.

"Don't be shy it's all yours just say the word." He says.

"Put your clothes on." I say softly and he chuckles.

"I'm done." I take my hand from my eyes freezing on the spot when I realise that he is still naked. I trail my eyes over him from his broad shoulders to his toned stomach, abs on display and the deep v-line going towards his well thing. I bring my eyes back to him to see a cocky smirk on his face.

"I've seen better." I state flatly, smiling in satisfaction when his jaw drops. Turning I walk towards Damien and Ollie. "Are you alright Damien?" Checking for injuries on him and he nods his head. I sigh in relief running my fingers through my hair as I look around me, the place surrounded by bodies.

"Well this has been fun." I mutter and Ollie narrows his eyes at me.

"Not for me." and points to his bloody shirt. "This was my favorite shirt and you ruined it."

Rolling my eyes at him, "Sorry not sorry, anyway Damien check for a reddish-brown wolf." He nods and leaves us just as Alex walks towards us.

"It seems that we got carried away a bit, there aren't any survivors left." He mutters watching his pack members gather the bodies of the dead wolves.

"Don't worry I got you covered." I say softly. Just then Damien walks towards us carrying the wolf on his shoulder. He drops the unconscious wolf in front of us and I run my fingers through it's fur. Soft and healthy, sniffing the wolf I realise it doesn't smell like a rogue at all.

What do you make of this Red?

How would I know.

Pressing my lips to a thin line, I groan at her. For once Red can you be helpful.

I will if you let me shift. I need to stretch my body. She fires back.

I offered and you refused.

Well duh, I'm not going to waste my energy on them and besides they don't get to see me yet only mate has the right to. I want him to be proud.

You know I can't do that, I want to ease him into our world before I show him you.

Fine then have fun choking on those answers you want. And with that she cuts the link, so immature.

"Is he dead?" Alex murmurs bending down to poke it and it jerks up catching him off guard.

"Does that answer your question?" I raise my brow at him and he nods. I stand to my feet and something splatters on my dress, looking down I see mud on it and I turn to see Ollie whistling looking at the sky.

"Wow the sky looks really blue." he murmurs.

"Really I could never tell." I mutter sarcastically and he winks at me. Alex stares at us in amusement running his fingers through his black hair as his dark eyes stare at me.

"Take the wolf to the prison."He orders at one of his members not taking his eyes off me and they nod dragging him. A genuine smile appears on his face. "Would you like to stay for dinner?"

I frown remembering that I have to go back to Storm but before I say anything Ollie cuts me off. "Yes we would, I'm starving."

Alex grins at us. "Great, I'll have them prepare us something. And while you're at it Nathan will show you to the guest rooms so you can freshen up."

"Thanks." He nods his head and leaves. I turn to Ollie and smack his head.

"Ouch! What was that for?" he snaps and I roll my eyes at him.

"I had no intentions of staying here." I retort and he shrugs.

"Don't you want to find out about the attacks and besides you're the only one who can wake the rogue up." I frown at him when I realise he is right.

"Fine let's gets this over with." I mutter and we follow Nathan back to the pack house.
