Artemis Pov

I couldn't sleep. I have been awake just staring at my ceiling, the thought of Storm going back being the only thing on my mind.

Don't let mate go. Red whimpers and I scoff rolling my eyes at her.

"Don't even talk to me."

I already apologized for it but can you blame me for acting like a bitch.

I give her a flat look. "Yes I can. You nearly marked him without permission."

But you stopped me. She says in an obvious tone I press my lips together raising the mental block to shut up her. Turning to my side, I stare at the window watching the sun rise behind the trees and I sigh biting hard on my lips to keep myself from crying.

He's leaving today.

*****************************************

Storm's pov

I'm really leaving today. Staring at the empty portion of my bed I frown cuddling the pillow to my chest as I inhale it.

Smells just like her.

She had been sleeping in my room for awhile now but after we came back from the pack house, she hardly looked at me and went straight to her room. I was so tempted to follow her but I didn't because it felt like she needed the space to think.

I stayed up all night waiting for her to come but she didn't and now it's almost 8 in the morning and still she hasn't even entered my room but I know she's awake.

I slowly look around the room, eyes landing on my bag in corner fully packed with my clothes and I sigh rubbing my face up and down before finally throwing the covers away and getting up.

It's nine in the morning when I finish everything, my bag in my hand as I slowly look at the room.

Fucking hell I'm acting like I won't come back here again but what if I don't? I clench my jaw, looking around the room one last time before leaving. Taking the stairs one at a time, I find Artemis in the living room staring outside as she brings the mug she's holding to her lips.

I smile watching how comfortable she looks with her legs tucked under neath her and a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. She breaths in deeply a content smile on her face as she slowly faces me, eyes lightening up.

"Hi." I say and she stands up, the blanket falling from her shoulders as she sets the mug on the table walking towards me.

She stops in front of me lowering her eyes as she tucks her hair behind her ear. "Hi."

My hands itch to do something and I slowly raise it, tilting her chin up. Her lips part slowly violet eyes searching my grey eyes and I cup her cheek resting my forehead on hers. "I don't know why I'm feeling this way."

"What way?" She murmurs lowly licking her lips and I glance at it gulping.

"Feeling as if my heart is being ripped out." I whisper pulling back to stare into her eyes and she bites her lips slowly nodding her head.

"I feel it too." She mumbles looking up into my eyes and I clench my jaw, breathing deeply and releasing it out.

She steps back smiling at me. "Selena would be here any minute."

"Is she coming with us?" I question following her into the kitchen and she nods grabbing her car keys. Just then the sound of the front door opens and Selena walks into the kitchen a smile on her face.

"Storm, Artemis." She greets staring between the two of us for a minute before she rolls her eyes pointing to us. "You're acting as if you aren't going to see each other again but you will."

I purse my lips staring at her. I mean she's not wrong, I can visit on the weekends or if I don't have classes and Artemis can come as well but it still feels like the distance between us doesn't need to be there.

Artemis rolls her eyes grabbing my hand and pulling me out of the kitchen. "I know Selena."

Selena scoffs locking the front door. "Then stop acting all depressed. Everyone can feel it."

Artemis ignores her handing me the keys and I take it, throwing my bag in the backseat with Selena there. Artemis sits at the front and the moment she's done buckling up, I grab her hand intertwining our fingers together and placing it on her thighs.

She blushes looking at it before glancing in my direction and I wink at her finally backing out of the drive way. It doesn't take long until we hit the main street.

Looking at the rear view mirror, Selena having a concentrated look on her face, her sunglasses perched on her nose as her tongue sticks out and I frown realizing something.

"Where's Ollie?" I question and Selena snorts pushing the sunglass to the bridge of her nose.

"He's busy with stuff but he says he'll come visit when he gets back."

I raise my brow at her cryptic answer. I'm guessing the stuff is what was in that file and she shrugs pulling the sunglasses back up and staring at her phone again. I turn to watch Artemis, her head resting against the window as she looks outside.

I squeeze her hand and she looks up suddenly.

"Are you okay?" I mouth to her and smiles nodding her head reassuringly before she looks away from me and I press my lips together staring straight ahead my brows furrowed in concern.

It's almost noon when we reach the parking lot. Stepping out of the car, I groan stretching my muscles feeling my back muscles crack and I sigh.

Selena looks around but I can't tell exactly where she's watching because of our dark her sunglasses are.

I stand beside Artemis grabbing her hand, pulling her along with me with Selena behind us. Stepping in the elevator I press my floor number, tapping my feet on the ground as we wait. I glance at Artemis from the corner of my eye, a look of concern quickly taking over my face.

She's been really quiet.

It dings and we step out. Taking my keys I unlock it, nearly tackled to the ground from someone wrapping the arms around me.

"The apartment has never been the same without you!" Lyle says squeezing me tightly and I groan struggling against him.

"Let go." I grit out and he shakes his head lifting me off the ground, my feet dangling a bit. My eyes widen as I stare at him in shock.

Since when did he become so strong.

"Never." I turn to look at Artemis and Selena for help only to find them snickering at me.

Selena giggles staring between the two of us amusingly. "Got to love the bromance."

I give her a flat look, scoffing under my breath. "There's no bromance here just an annoying little bug who won't let go." I hiss through clenched teeth.

"Accept the-wait a minute." Lyle let's go pushing me to the side, his eyes widening in disbelief as he stares at Artemis and Selena. I glare at him straightening my shirt and standing beside them. I grab Artemis dragging her inside, with Lyle and Selena behind us.

Lyle shuts the door a look of shock on his face as he looks at us before landing his gaze on me, eyes narrowing into silts. "I thought it was just you and Artemis on the trip?"

"It was." I deadpan.

He frowns giving me an accusing look as he jerks his thumb towards Selena. "Then why is she here?"

I roll my eyes at him a flat look on my face. "None of your business." Selena snorts making herself comfortable on the couch.

Lyle scowls at me. "You know what go back and while you're at it take your freaking attitude along."

I roll my eyes ignoring him, walking to my room and shutting the door behind me. I sigh pushing my hair from my face as Artemis takes in everything around her.

I guess the last time she was here she didn't get the opportunity to do so because of the unfortunate incident with a certain person.

She looks at me raising her brow. "What?" She murmurs softly and I shake my head.

"Nothing." I reply dropping my bag to the ground, taking slow hesitant steps towards her I stop in front of her my brows drawn together looking into her eyes.

"You don't seem happy."

She scoffs, rolling her eyes and sitting on my bed a tired sigh escaping her. "If you were in my shoes I doubt you'd be happy to leave your mate unprotected."

I chuckle pushing my hair from my face. "Probably."

"I honestly don't think it's a good idea but you still have your life to live and I'll try and understand it." She mutters playing with the hem of her shirt as she looks everywhere but my face.

I sigh dropping on my knees, placing my hand on her thigh as I tilt her chin up. "Think of this as a long distance relationship."

"They never work." She deadpans and I scowl at her.

"Just take it like that. I'll visit you on weekends and when you're free you can come and visit me."

She stares at my hand on her lap deep in thought before nodding her head, looking up to me. "Fine."

I grin, leaning up to kiss her forehead. "Good girl."

She rolls her eyes pushing me away as she smiles tucking her hair behind her ear. Laughing at the blush on her face, I get up rubbing my palm on my stomach.

"I'm hungry."

She frowns staring at me with concern. "I forgot you hadn't eaten." I shrug pulling her out of my room to find Lyle and Selena watching that weird show Sunny likes to watch, what's it called? Ah yes vampire diaries.

Ignoring them, I head to the kitchen opening the fridge only for me to scowl. Moving to the cupboards, I purse my lips when I also find them empty.

You have got to be kidding me!

I tighten my jaw glaring at it and Artemis lays her hand on my shoulder, turning me around to face her. "What's wrong?"

I point to the empty space behind and her lips for an 'oh' pressing them together, eyes shining with laughter and my frown deepens.

"It's not funny Artemis." I deadpan and she clears her throat smacking her lips together as she stares at me with a serious look on her face.

"You're totally right, it's definitely not funny." And looks down biting her lip, her shoulder shaking with the silent laugh that she's trying to hold in. She looks up and I give her an unimpressed look, huffing when she giggles.

Rolling my eyes at her, I go back to the living room smacking Lyle on the head and he turns abruptly scowling at me as he rubs it.

"Back with your abusive nature." He snaps and the glare on my face deepens.

Pointing an accusing finger at him, I narrow my eyes. "When was the last time you guys did grocery shopping?"

He presses his lips into a thin line, brows furrowed as he taps his index finger on his chin. "Uh probably like a month ago, I'm not sure dude."

My jaw drops staring at him incredulously bringing my gaze to Artemis her cheeks puffed up, eyes staring amusingly at Lyle and she looks at me biting her lips and looking away.

"I'll order for pizza." Selena speaks up coughing to hide the laugh that escaped her when I narrowed my eyes at her. I huff, glaring at a sheepish looking Lyle rolling my eyes at his dumb face.

I sit on the ground pulling Artemis to me and she blushes when she lands on my lap. I smirk and she rolls her eyes stretching her legs across my thigh and resting her head against my chest.

I stretch my legs in front of me, leaning my back against the chair before wrapping my arms securely around her. I sigh kissing her forehead and looking up to see Lyle wiggling his brow at the two of us, a toothy grin on his face and I scowl.

"What?" I snap.

The grin becomes wider as he points between the two of us still wiggling his brows suggestively. "So the two of you huh?"

Staring at him flatly he huffs throwing his hands in the air. "What happened on the roadtrip? You look so cozy together."

A lot happened Lyle, a lot.

I look down only to find Artemis asleep, her lips slightly parted as she breaths, her brows drawn together in a frown.

I frown, she looks so tense and I place my finger between the space of her brows smoothing it out and she sighs hugging me close to her.

"Storm." She mumbles going right back to sleep. My chest tightens from the pained way she mumbled my name, my face softening as I tuck the strands of fallen hair on her face behind her ear.

Pressing my lips to her forehead. "We'll be alright." I mumble a tired sigh escaping me.

"You like her."

Lyle's voice snaps me from my thoughts, looking up to find him watching us curiously. I had honestly forgotten he was in the room with me, pushing my hair from my face I nod my head at him.

"Yeah." I mutter staring at her.

Get a grip Storm! You'll be able to see her.

The sound of the front door opening grabs our attention and I purse my lips hearing the sound of people moaning.

Fucking hell Jay.

He makes his presence known when he slams the brunette he's with against the wall, pinning her arms above her and grabbing her thigh hooking it around his waist as he practically dry humps.

She moans whispering his name and I can practically hear the smirk in his voice. "You like that don't you?" He murmurs cockily rubbing his crotch against her and she moans again, arching her back towards him.

She giggles when he buries his face in her neck, freeing her hands and grabbing his shoulders slamming him against the wall a little bit harder than intended and the noise wakes Artemis up, her eyes glowing violet as her chest vibrates with a growl.

My eyes widen and I quickly bury her face in my chest hiding her eyes when Lyle looks at us.

"Did you hear that?" He mumbles looking around the apartment with a frown and I press my lips together shaking my head.

"Nope."

He frowns but drops it, a smirk on his face when the brunette slowly unzips her dress well if that's what you want to call the outfit she's wearing because honestly I don't even know what to call it.

Jay smirks unbuttoning his shirt and I purse my lips at them. Are they fucking dumb not to see us here?

"What is happening?" Artemis mumbles against my shirt trying to pull away from me but I cup the back of her head keeping her face still buried in shirt.

"Adult stuff." I mumble raising my brow when the dress drops to the ground. A look of pure lust on Jay's face as his eyes slowly trail over her body before meeting her eyes.

"You know I can hear and smell what is happening right?" Artemis says and I press my lips together knowing very well that she's rolling her eyes right now.

I tug her hair and she yelps hitting my chest. "What was that for?"

"Being a smart ass." I reply tugging on her hair a bit rough this time.

"What the heck!" She screams into my shirt, the sound tickling me a bit.

"Don't roll your eyes at me." I retort and she huffs relaxing in my arms. The smirk on my face drops when my eyes land on Lyle resting his face against his palm as he stares at them with an excited look.

What the fuck is wrong with him.

Just when she's about to take her bra off, Selena walks into the room, freezing on the spot as she stares at the scene in front of her, a look of pure horror on her face.

Artemis uses my point of distraction to pull away, huffing and blowing her hair from her face. "Oh my.." She whispers staring at them

"What the...." Selena whispers trails off and Jay suddenly looks up, his eyes widening in shock, mouth opening and closing.

How did he even hear her and not us?

His gaze suddenly snaps to Lyle, then me, then Artemis before falling back to Selena as if possible his eyes go wider, a deer in headlights expression on his face.

"Babe what wrong?" The brunette whines trying to grab his attention. When she notices that he's not minding her, she huffs turning around and freezing on the spot, a look of mortification on her face.

Lyle waves at her, a smirk on his face. "You should consider working as a stripper."

I smack my forehead shaking my head when she shrieks staring at us in horror.

"Selena." Jay whispers still staring at her and she raises her brow, amusement clear on her face as she crosses her arms in front of her.

"Yes Jay." She replies a small smirk on her face and he groans running his fingers through his hair. Brunette girl keeps on shrieking and Artemis purses her lips at her.

"Her voice is so annoying." She grumbles and I raise my brow staring at her amusingly.

Jay presses his lips together, an irritated look on his face as he slaps his hand against her mouth. "Get out." He snaps

Her eyes narrow into slit and she steps back, a glare on her face. "What?"

He rolls his eyes, picking her clothes from the ground and shoving it into her hands pointing to the door, a bored look on his face. "Go home Sarah."

"Excuse me." She mutters in disbelief staring at him clutching her dress to her chest.

Lyle snickers under his breath.

"Are you deaf? I said get out Sarah." He snaps grabbing her arm, dragging her out.

"Let me go asshole and it's Kathy!" She yells struggling against him.

"And I don't care Samantha." He retorts shoving her out and slamming the door in her face. He walks back to the room, rubbing his neck nervously as we all stare at him.

"That was something." Selena mumbles sitting down and Jay looks up suddenly laughing awkwardly.

"Yeah about that.." He trails of running his fingers through his hair messing it up.

"Uh huh.." She taunts.

He glares at her before standing up straight, a cocky look on his face. "If you're interested you know where to find me."

One look at his face and she burst out laughing.

He falters a bit staring at her in surprise. "What's funny?" He questions

She wipes her eyes, staring at him before bursting out again. "You are. Anyway the pizza will be here any minute." And ignores him.

He scoffs under his breath, staring at her with a weird look before shaking his head and walking out.

It's dark when Artemis and Selena decide to leave. Lyle made them promise to visit to which the agreed and Jay well Jay just couldn't look at Selena, mumbled a quick bye and left to his room.

We are in the parking lot and I stuff my hands in my pocket staring at Artemis.

Selena steps forward pulling me in a hug. "I'll see you soon." She mumbles and I nod pulling away with her grin my eyes shifting back to Artemis to see her staring at the ground deep in thought.

Selena looks between the two of us, a small smile on her face. "I'll leave you two alone." I nod sending her a grateful smile and she pats my arm, walking away from us.

I sigh stepping close to her. "Hi."

She looks up smiling sadly at me. "Hi." I frown, the pain in my chest tightening and I grab her arm pulling her flush against my body. She stands on her tiptoe wrapping her arms around my neck tightly burying her face in my neck and I in her hair.

"I'll miss you." She murmurs softly, her breath hitting against my skin and I pull her closer breathing in her scent as I release a sigh.

"Ditto." I reply. She pulls away cupping my cheeks a small smile on her face as she leans forward placing a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"I'll see you soon." She mumbles, her lips still pressed against it and I close my eyes squeezing her waist. She finally pulls away, green eyes changing to violet as she smiles one last time waving at me before entering the car.

I watch in silence as their car disappears into the night.

Who invented assignments and thought it was a freaking good idea to invent exams too! College has been biting me in the ass because of the amount of catching up I had to do that's it's been two weeks since I last saw Artemis.

We talk on the phone almost every night and I understand why she hasn't been able to come, the attacks on the pack and other packs have become more serious.

According to what she said, there is an emergency meeting for all the Alphas and she's being planning for it.

It's strange how apparently, no one has ever seen her before and now she's considering to actually attend a meeting full of werewolves males who can potentially hit on her.

I purse my lips, staring at my laptop when I think about another male even coming close to her. Yeah that is not fucking happening.

Another thing that has been on my mind is what happened with Red and the marking. I still don't feel comfortable having someone actually bite my neck and I don't think I ever will.

I raise my hand to my neck rubbing the spot where she had constantly being looking at. "I guess this is where she'll bite me." I mutter blowing out a frustrated sigh and pushing my hair from face.

I really need a hair cut.

The door to my room opens, and Lyle walks in an excited look on his face as he jumps on my bed staring at me with a grin.

I raise my brow at him and he wiggles his brow raising his shoulder up and down.

I give him a flat look and he huffs throwing his hands in the air, a look of annoyance on his face. "You seriously have forgotten what today is?"

My forehead scrunches up in confusion. "Am I supposed remember something?" I mutter slowly racking my brains to see if I've forgotten anything but who am I kidding my brain is baked with the amount of stress, so any other thing is useless.

He scoffs, shaking his head at me. "Sunny is coming over."

I purse my lips at him watching him blankly. "Yeah so.." I trail off wondering where he is going with this.

"So it's annual get shit faced." He yells startling me and I groan closing my eyes. How could I have forgotten this? Sunny usually picks a random day in the month to do things she probably will never do if she was sober and when it happens, she likes to let Jay, Lyle and I tag along.

It was fun until I ended up spending the night in a cell because Sunny had a spontaneous idea to rob a mall. Lyle and Jay actually were excited to be there of course because let's face it they are just as dumb as she was that day.

I'm sure the officer wouldn't have let us go but I guess he thought we were too drunk that's why he decided to keep us there, probably to sleep it off and not do anything stupid.

"I'm not going anywhere." I mutter turning to face my laptop and Lyle sighs, slamming his fist on my desk. I glare at him and he rolls his eyes.

"It's not fun if we don't have you acting like the responsible one." He whines shaking my shoulders and I scowl shrugging his hand off me.

"Well I don't -

The door to my room slams against the wall  and I frown, staring at the person standing there.

Don't they know how to freaking knock.

"Baby brother!"

Someone shoot me right now.

"Sunny!" Lyle yells excitedly running up to her and pulling her in a hug. She laughs hugging him back before letting go, a smirk on her face as she walks towards me.

"I'm not going." I state bluntly and she rolls her eyes at me pulling me up so she can hug me.

"Shut up." She mumbles wrapping her arms around me and I return the hug. She pulls back, blue eyes staring at me as she smiles looking around my room stopping at my desk when she sees the pile of work there, her brow raising up.

"I'm catching up." I mutter ignoring the questioning look in her eyes. Wait a minute, I turn to face her, seeing the scarf wrapped around her neck and I purse my lips at it.

She hates wearing scarf.

"Sunny.. " I say and she looks at me. I point to the thing around her neck and she freezes before smiling.

"Oh that, I thought I should try something new." She mumbles looking me straight in the eye, her feet tapping rapidly on the ground.

As if I would ever believe that.

"Lyle get out."

He frowns opening his mouth to protest but I give him a cold look and he sighs staring between the two of us before nodding and leaving. I get up glaring at her and she backs away from me slowly.

"Uh Storm what are you doing?" She says eyes wide and before she can step any further I grab her wrist, pulling the scarf from her neck and my jaw tightens, eyes narrowing as I glare at the bruise around her neck.

"Where is he?" I mutter calmly staring at it and she sighs reaching for the scarf but I pull back glaring at her. "Don't make me ask twice Sunny!" I snap

She sighs running her fingers through her dark brown hair, lips pressed together as she frowns. "I don't know." She mumbles looking away.

I clench the scarf in my hand tightly. "Who knows about it?"

"Snow."

"How come?"

She groans sitting on my bed. "He happened to stumble on it and honestly he would have actually killed him if I hadn't pulled him away from there."

"You should have let him." I grit out, my jaw clenching as I continue to stare at it. Fucking douche face.

She rolls her eyes grabbing the scarf and wrapping it around her neck. "Just promise you won't do anything stupid."

I shrug not saying anything, my blood still boiling from the anger within me.

She gives a pointed look and I sigh offering her a tight lipped smile. "As far as Snow did it, I'll back off."

No I won't.

She smiles patting my cheeks. "Great now, come on we've got to go."

I sigh nodding my head, I guess she needs to do this.

She grins dragging me out of my room and I meet Lyle and Jay actually ready an excited look on their face.

"The parent is tagging along?" Jay questions bouncing on his feet and I scowl at him, flipping him off and he grins.

I grab my keys and wallet, opening the door and freezing on the spot when I find Ollie standing there, his hand raised ready to knock.

I look around him and he rolls his eyes stuffing his hand in his pocket. "Artemis isn't here."

My shoulders slump in defeat and I sigh. "Oh."

He pats my back. "You'll see her don't worry."  I nod my head. He steps back looking at me for a minute, sniffing the air around him. "You smell different."

I frown scrunching my face in confusion. "I smell different..." I trail off staring at him weirdly and he nods sniffing me once more.

"Yeah, it smells nice though. New cologne or something?" He questions still giving me a weird.

"Uh not really, I still use the-

"Come on Storm let's go." Sunny says pushing me out of the way, freezing on the spot when her eyes land on Ollie.

His eyes glow electric blue staring at Sunny. "Mate." He growls

My keys drop to the ground, shock written all over my face as I stare at the both of them.

This cannot be freaking happening!!
