Storm's Pov
The next day, Damien arrived with the car packed in front of the house. We had to leave early and Riley felt a sad when we told him we had to go. The kid is great and it would be fun having him with us but I don't think he knows that we're considering him into our pack.
"Can't you stay for a bit longer?" He murmurs looking up at me with sad eyes and I go on one knee, bending down to his level.
I ruffle his hair smiling sadly at him. "Sorry buddy but I can't."
He sighs dejectedly bringing his gaze to Artemis. "Please A, let Storm stay so I can spend time with him."
I see douche roll his eyes. Yeah trust me, if you weren't here I'd probably stay.
She shakes her head, wrapping her arms around him. "He can't but you'll see him soon okay." and pulls back placing a kiss on top of his head. She steps back, resting her head on my shoulder and I wrap my arm around her waist kissing her hair.
Dorothy comes behind Riley, placing her hand on his shoulders as she stares at us with a smile, eyes crinkling. "I can't thank you enough for bring him home Alphas, thank you so much."
"How about you make us those cookies and then we call it even?" Ollie says coming up to my side and she laughs shaking her head at him.
"I will." She says and glances at Artemis.
"Don't forget what we spoke about." Artemis murmurs staring at her and Dorothy nods a small smile on her face. Satisfied with everything we pile in the car, turning around to wave at them and I press my face against the window, showing douche my middle finger.
He glares at me and I smirk, sticking my tongue out. Immature right? I know but fuck him.
I lean back with a smile, turning sideways to see Artemis staring at me with raised brows.
I blink. "What?"
She gives me a flat look and I smile shrugging.
Damien packs the car in front of our pack house. Lyle, Jay and Selena stand at the entrance staring and once we get down they rush towards us.
Lyle eyes run over my frame, lips pursed as a frown makes way to his face. "You look different."
I frown glancing down at myself before looking back up, forehead scrunching up. "I do?"
He nods still staring at me and nudges Jay jerking his head to me. "Doesn't Storm look different?"
Jay frowns. "Yeah he does."
Okay? What is happening? I glance at Artemis to see her staring at me with a smile before she shifts her gaze to Ollie. "I need you to call the elders to shift the alpha meeting to a month's time."
Ollie frowns staring at her confusingly. "Why?"
She shrugs glancing at me once again."Just because."
"You know they are not going to be happy with this right? I mean the meeting was shifted early because you decided to finally come out of the shadows and every pack wants to know who the Alpha of this pack is and now you want it to happen within a month?"
She nods. "Pretty much."
He groans throwing his arms in the air, eyes narrowing into slits. "I had a date with Storm's sister and now you're telling me to try and reason with a bunch of people with hearing problems?"
She nods again still staring at him boredly and I frown at the mention of Sunny. He's going a date with her?
"I should get paid for what I'm doing." He grumbles and Artemis rolls her eyes at him.
"It's your duty." She states flatly and turns when Selena taps her shoulder, a frown on her face.
"Someone came looking for you." Selena mutters and Artemis frowns.
"Who?"
Selena purses her lips looking around before her eyes glaze over. Artemis tenses up before she sighs nodding her head. Her eyes return to normal and she stares at Artemis cautiously.
"Ollie please make sure you let me know what they think once you're done." She says and he nods walking inside the pack house. Artemis glance at a stoic Damien who has his eyes fixed on my friends.
"Damien I need you to make arrangements for Lyle and Jay to be protected at their apartment." She orders and Damien bows his head also walking away.
I grab her shoulders turning her around, a worried look on my face. "What's going on?"
"Nothing for now but your friends cannot stay here much longer and you cannot go back." She adds and I step back with a frown.
"Why can't I go back?"
She sighs running her fingers through her hair. "I'll explain later but trust me if there was another way I would take it but there isn't."
I purse my lips nodding my head, turning around to face Lyle and Jay who have confused expressions on their faces.
"Is everything okay?" Jay questions.
"There's nothing for you to be worried about, once Damien has everything ready, you'll be able to go back to your apartment." Artemis says softly and Lyle frowns pointing to me.
"What about Storm?"
She sends him a small smile. "He will have to stay here." And turns to face me. "I have to do something and I might come home late."
"Does it have anything to do with the person who came looking for you?"
She frowns, biting her bottom lip before nodding hesitantly. I guess this is another thing that I wouldn't know about.
I sigh, hugging her. "Well just be careful okay."
She pulls back grinning at me. "I will." And turns to face Selena. "Come on let's go."
Selena nods and they run in the opposite direction of the pack house, heading straight into the woods.
I purse my lips watching their retreating forms with a frown, when will she stop being secretive?
"I still can't get over the fact that werewolves exist." Lyle murmurs also staring at the spot they were in.
Sighing, I rub my palm on my face clenching my jaw before looking away. "Want a tour?"
True to her word, she came back home late and without a word retreated to her room. It's the middle of the night when I hear the door to my room creak open, a figure walking towards my bed and gently slides in.
I turn around sleepily, wrapping my arms around her and she freezes before relaxing burying her face in my chest.
"Are you okay?" I murmur drowsily and she nods kissing my jaw.
"Everything is fine." She whispers cuddling close to me and I nod kissing her hair and going back to sleep.
Stretching my muscles once I feel myself drifting back to consciousness, I pat the space next to me frowning when I realize it's empty.
She left already?
I try listening to any sounds from the house and that's when I hear the light patter of feet walking in front of my door before they stop. Supporting myself with my elbows, I stare at the door waiting for Artemis to open it and she does, peeking her head inside with a large smile gracing her face.
This is a different look compared to what she had yesterday.
She walks in with a slight spring in her steps and jumps on my bed, bouncing up and down excitedly.
I raise my brow, staring at her amusingly. "You seem to be in a good mood."
She nods dropping to the bed with a sigh, propping her elbows and resting her face against her palms, the same large grin on her face and violet eyes twinkling with happiness. "I am more than happy and do you know why?"
I shake my head, turning on my side and copying her movements.
"Well today is special because you." She says jabbing my chest and blushes when she realizes I'm not wearing a shirt. She blinks shaking her head and smiles again. "And I" and points to herself. "Are going to train!"
The smile drops from my face. "What?"
She nods excitedly getting up from the bed. "Yup! I am going to train you to use your new found abilities."
My frown deepens. "Arte-"
"Shushhhh." She says pressing her finger on my lip. "No talking. I'll explain when we get to the training grounds. So get up, get dressed and meet me downstairs." And proceeds to push me off the bed.
I stare at her in shock, quickly rising to my feet. It's then I notice the outfit she's wearing, dressed in grey leggings, paired with tennis shoes and a black sports bra. She giggles bouncing on her feet and walks the the door, twisting the handle before stopping and facing me. "Oh before I forget, I made breakfast and your friends will be coming with us."
Watching her retreating figure in surprise, I scratch the back of my head wondering what just happened?
Breakfast was quick because Artemis kept on rushing me to eat fast. I have honestly never seen someone so excited to train another person before.
"She looks like a kid on sugar rush." Jay mumbles staring at her back and I nod.
Glancing at him from the corner of my eye, I wonder if now would be a good idea to ask him about Selena. To be honest, I don't want to hurt his feelings or make him uncomfortable and obviously Selena has her mate out there and we both know it's not Jay.
Fuck it, I'm asking.
"So what's up with you and Selena?"
His shoulders tense up and he slowly turns his head, eyes narrowing into slits. "What's up with the question?"
I frown, giving him a flat look. "Don't start with me."
He sighs opening his mouth to speak when Lyle cuts him off.
"Uh hey Storm can I talk with Artemis?"
I raise my brow at him then shrug. He nods catching up to her and I frown staring at the pair when Lyle's shoulder brushes against hers.
"Why are you glaring at him like that?" Jay mutters raising his brow at me and I blink looking at him.
"I wasn't glaring at him."
He gives me the 'are you kidding me' look and scoffs pointing to my fist. I look down to see them clenched tightly, my fingernails digging into the skin.
Pursing my lips, I unclench them. "Just answer my question."
He sighs looking away. "We spoke when you left and she explained why she couldn't tell me about who she is."
I nod listening to every word but then get distracted when Lyle places his hand on Artemis shoulder.
Why is he touching her?
"Uh Storm... "Jay mutters and I hum glaring at the hand on her shoulder. That hand doesn't belong there and why isn't she doing anything about it.
"Storm!" A voice snaps and I shake my head snapping out from the trance I was in.
"I'm sorry please continue." I mutter looking away from them. Jay furrows his brow, eyes looking back and forth between the three of us before he chuckles shaking his head.
"You don't want anyone touching her." He states and I sigh nodding my head.
"I can't really explain why but just the thought of someone even touching her hair or even just the tiniest of brushes against her skin, I feel this intense stirring within me, crawling over my skin and all I want to do is just rip the arm of who ever touched her." I explain and Artemis suddenly turns around to face me, a frown on her face and stops allowing Jay and I to catch up with her.
Once closer she steps forward. "Is everything okay? I could feel you getting angry." She murmurs worriedly searching my face for any sign of anger and I shake my head, leaning forward to peck her lips.
"I'm okay."
She furrows her brows, clearly not believing what I said but drops it and beams at me. "Well then shall we begin."
Looking around, I realize we've walked deeper into the forest, a little opening in the center and surrounding us are big, tall trees different from the ones we usually see. I purse my lips bringing my gaze back to Artemis who honestly looks too excited for this.
"Lyle, Jay, do you mind sitting on the log way over there." She says pointing all the way the to broken tree trunk lying further from us but close that you can see whatever is happening. They nod, walking there and I clasp my hands behind my back, waiting for her to say something.
She nods in satisfaction once they are far enough and turns to face me grinning. "I know you're confused about why I'm excited but there's an explanation for it."
I nod basically telling her to go on and she smiles, tying her hair up. "Lyle said you looked different right?"
I frown nodding and she smiles.
"Have you looked in the mirror lately?"
"Not really." I mutter wondering where she's going with this.
"Well you should after this." She says making sure her hair is secured tightly and looks up at me. "My mark is coursing a bit of changes to you. It first started with the hearing and when I left you for that week, I decided to try and see if you had gotten any other abilities."
My brows furrow, listening to every word she's uttering and she takes three steps back, hands placed on her lips as she tilts her head to the side. "Hence Red jumping for the building. We made a bet to see if you'll be able to catch me and well you did."
I'm so confused right now.
"I still don't get it." I say and she grins.
"I transferred my abilities to you. The speed, the hearing, the quick reflexes, the super strength, heightened senses and quick healing but I don't know if you've gotten that one yet." She explains still observing me.
I fold my arms in front of me, trying to process whatever she's saying. "So you're saying that you marking me has made me like you minus actually changing into a werewolf?"
She nods. "Pretty much."
Wow. I push my hair from my face nodding my head. "Okay."
She raises her brow staring at me skeptically. "Okay? You aren't going to freak out or something?"
I shrug. "I think I have passed the stage of freaking out when I hear anything supernatural related. M'kinda getting used to it."
She stares at me for a minute before nodding her head and then rubs her palm excitedly. "Well then, first things first let's work on your speed."
"I think it's okay." I mutter and she chuckles shaking her head.
"Maybe but you still need to learn balance else you'll end up falling each time." She says stepping close to me. "You see where Lyle and Jay are sitting."
Looking over to them, I nod and Artemis smiles. "You're going to run that distance with just normal human speed."
I frown looking at the distance between where we are and where they are, it's far, almost a two minute walk there.
Facing Artemis, I nod my head ready to run but then she stops me. "Try not to get hurt too much."
"What?" I say scrunching my forehead in confusion and she smiles patting my back.
"On my mark." She begins and I get into position, eyes straight ahead. "Go!"
I now understand why Artemis said I should try not to get hurt too much because what I thought was just a normal human speed turned out to be well different.
"Stop!" Jay yells quickly getting up but it's too late and I crash into them, rolling over until I finally stop my back hitting the tree behind me. Groaning I turn on my side, grunting in pain when I feel every part of my muscles sore.
"Fuck." Lyle groans clenching his jaw and Jay lies on his back just staring at the sky, a pained look on his face.
I did not see that coming. A shadow looms over me and Artemis face comes into view, brows furrowed in concern. "Are you okay?"
"Peachy." I grit out and she purses her lips, bending down and placing her hand on my shoulder. She closes her eyes and a surge of energy wraps around me before she let's go rising to her feet.
Standing up, I twist my torso around hearing it crack slightly before releasing a tired sigh.
"It seems we have a lot work to do." She mutters staring at me and I narrow my eyes at her. She shakes her head, the grin coming back again. "Let's try this again."
So for the next two hours, I try to run at a normal pace but end up either running into a tree, or stopping too late and my personal favorite falling flat on my face and each time Artemis lends me some form of energy that renews me.
I groan, jaw tightening and throwing my hands up in frustration, clearly done with this whole situation. "Nothing is fucking working!"
Artemis hums in response staring at me for a minute before her eyes widen in realisation and she snaps her finger. "You need to think like a human."
I blink. "What?"
She nods pointing to everything around us. "Don't think like someone who has supernatural abilities but think of yourself as a regular human."
My faces scrunches up in confusion and she rolls her eyes at me. "Just humor me."
Pursing my lips at her, I sigh getting into a running position once again.
Artemis steps behind me, rubbing my tensed shoulders. "Relax." She murmurs and I feel every tension in my body leaving.
"Good. Now close your eyes, forget about everything and just focus on the sound of your breathing and my voice."
Closing my eyes, I take in deep breaths, blocking out everything except the sound of Artemis voice.
"Feel the air slowly surrounding you, everything slowly coming to a stand still except for you, you're the only one moving and stopping as you please." She whispers. "Remember that whilst you're stopping you must imagine your feet being locked to the ground, preventing you from moving."
Listening to her words, I slowly open my eyes and she leans close whispering one word into my ear. "Run."
So I do, the trees stop moving, everything slowing down except for me and my breathing gets  heavy, heart pounding in chest with my eyes trained on Lyle and Jay frozen on the log. I clench my jaw, watching them. You can do this Storm.
With one last intake of air, I slowly let go thinking of everything she said and I stop just in time to avoid hitting them again.
"I did it." I whisper in shock staring at my friends who have their jaw dropped as they openly stare at me. I stare at my two feet firmly on the ground, fuck I didn't fall to my face.
Lyle is the first to speak up. "You did it."
I nod too speechless to actually make a sound and he whoops loudly slapping me on my back. Grinning, I turn around, Artemis standing in a distance and before she can raise her hand, I run appearing right in front of her and pulling her into her bone crushing hug, spinning her around.
"I did it!" I yell chuckling and she giggles wrapping her arms tightly around her neck.
"Yes you did!" She responds just as excited as I am and I pull back, cupping her cheeks and pressing my lips hard against her own.
She responds immediately, moving her lips against mine as she threads her fingers through my hair tugging on the ends and I groan in satisfaction pulling her closer to me.
She pulls back breathlessly, lips swollen and I lean in again, taking her lower lip and sucking on it before letting go, resting my forehead against hers as I try to control my breathing.
"I'm so proud of you." She whispers pressing her lips against mine once again.
"Go on a date with me." I murmur against her lips and she pulls back raising her brow at me.
"What?"
I grin resting my hand on her hips. "Go on a date with me, tonight."
"I don't think that's-" I cut her off with my lips pulling back to see her blushing.
"I'll come pick you up at 6:30."
She frowns glancing down at her watch to see it's almost one in the afternoon and looks back up, a smile on her face. "Okay."
I grin, kissing her one last time before stepping back. "I'll see you soon okay."
I'm really hoping Artemis likes this, it took the rest of the day to plan for it so I just hope that she will like it.
Standing at the foot of the stairs I rub my sweaty palms on my jeans, my feet tapping nervously on the floor as I wait for Artemis to get down. Lyle and Jay are spending the night at the pack house so they aren't here to give me that pep talk, not that I need it but I can picture Lyle snickering at my sweaty palms and making fun of me being a bitch.
Footsteps slowly descends from the stairs and I look up, breath hitching in my throat when my eyes lay on her. She called me asking what she should wear and I said she should dress casual. Let's just say I won't ever say that again because Selena gave me hell for that saying how is she meant to dress casual if it involves a lot.
Women and their stuff, I just don't get it sometimes.
Her lips tug up in a slow smile brightening up her entire face and I physically have to take a step back from how breathtaking she looks. Dressed in a black overall with three silver buttons on the side and a grey T-shirt underneath that has the words classy and cute written in curvatures and her feet adorned in a black and white converse.
So simple yet so perfect and totally her.
Her hair is left in loose curls framing her entire face and whatever magic used on her eyes has made it pop out even more. She stops in front of me looking down shyly and I step forward, tilting her chin up with my finger so I can get a better look at her face.
She blushes looking away once again and I cup her cheeks, pressing my lips softly to hers not moving them but just enjoying the feeling of her lips on mine.
Pulling back the pad of my thumb rubs her cheeks fondly. "You look so beautiful." I whisper kissing her nose and she does the cute thing where she twitches it around and then giggles.
"Thank you." She murmurs shyly. I grin taking her hand in mine and pulling her out of the house.
She frowns when we pass by the garage, turning to look at me with furrowed brows. "Aren't we taking the car?"
I shake my head, pulling her towards a different direction. Walking through the forest in silence except for the sound of our shoes crunching on the leaves. The moon fully out as it lights the path, I look up smiling to myself when I realize that the stars are out, glinting beautifully in the night sky and I glance at Artemis from the corner of my eye to see her smiling to herself.
My mouth dries up when she turns sideways to look at me, the reflection of the moon twinkling within her violet eyes and she smiles tucking her hair behind her ear.
There are not enough words to describe the intense feelings raging within me. My chest tightens when she grins showing those pearly white teeth and I stop, wrapping my arm around her waist and pulling her into a hug.
She freezes but returns it, wrapping her arms tightly around my waist as she lays her head on my shoulder.
"Is everything okay?" She murmurs softly and I squeeze her tighter burying my face in her hair. Fuck she smells so good.
"I just want to hold you." I murmur sighing when she nuzzles closer to me nodding her head.
As we get closer to the destination, I grab her wrist stopping her before taking the blindfold from my pocket. She stares at it confusingly and I smile reassuringly at her.
"I don't want to ruin the surprise."
She frowns but nods turning around with her back facing me and I step forward wrapping it around her eyes making sure to tie it securely before grabbing her hand once more and leading the way.
"Are we there yet?" She mutters squeezing my hand and I stop looking around to make sure everything is okay before standing in front her and untying the blindfold.
She blinks, adjusting her eyes and gasps bringing her hand to her mouth as she looks around. "This is amazing Storm." She says, her eyes slightly tearing and I smile taking my hand from my back presenting her with a white rose.
She brings it to her nose, sniffing before jumping into my arms and I chuckle, spinning her around as she giggles excitedly.
I didn't know what to do for the date but then I remembered how much Artemis liked to build forts and how much she loves looking at the sky especially at night so I decided to have a night time picnic with her.
It involved a lot a pillow and blanket shopping as well as fairy lights in order to build the fort. Even had to bring Jay and Lyle to help me set it up and since there weren't any trees to hold it together, we had to improvise with chairs and wooden planks.
(picture of the fort)
I chose the field of flowers that I came across the first time I heard about witches because of its open space and the clear view of the sky. What makes this moment even better is the fireflies glittering in the darkness.
She smiles once she let's go, staring at it in awe.
I smile grabbing her hand. "Let's sit down. " She nods making herself comfortable on the pillow and I grab the basket along with the laptop I borrowed from Ollie since mine is back at the apartment and set it in front of her.
"So we both know your weird obsession with popcorn." I mutter rummaging through the basket and she perks up clapping her hands excitedly when I place the buttery popcorn on her laps.
"Oh my gosh! Thank you!" She grins grabbing a handful and stuffing it in her mouth as she groans, eyes closing in satisfaction.
Chuckling at her childishness, I take the rest of the food from the basket, courtesy of Ollie's mom who made sandwiches, a mixed fruit bowl and Artemis' strawberry milkshake.
"So what do you want to watch?" I question staring at her with a smile on my face and she freezes mid chew, staring at me for a minute before swallowing then grabbing the laptop.
With her brow furrowed in concentration she clicks on something, lips tilting up in a smile and turns to face me eyes shining mischievously.
I narrow my eyes at her suspiciously. "What are you doing?"
She shrugs, smiling innocently and places the laptop down. Furrowing my brows, I look over her shoulder and groan.
"Oh c'mon! Vampire Diaries? Really Artemis? Really?"
She giggles nodding her head at me and I groan throwing myself on the blanket and crossing my arms in front of me. She looks over staring at me amusingly.
"Just for today okay? Pretty please?" She says giving me the puppy dog look and I frown looking away.
There is no way I'm going to fall for that look, nope.
"Storm." She whines climbing over and straddling my waist. "For me, please."
"Nope."
She huffs, gripping my chin, forcing me to look at her and I quickly shut my eyes.
"Oh c'mon!" She huffs frustratingly and I smile thinking of how adorable she looks right now but the smile slowly slips from my face when I feel the faintest of lips brushing against mine.
She leans forward, trailing her lips across my cheeks until she reaches my ear."Open your eyes Storm." She purrs and I squeeze her waist tightly, opening my eyes and cupping her cheeks to bring her lips on mine.
Kissing Artemis is my favorite thing to do and I don't think that is ever going to stop. She pulls back staring at me with a hooded look and I definitely know I'm reciprocating the same thing.
"Let's eat." She murmurs absentmindedly still staring at my lips and I wet them watching as her eyes follow the action.
"Yeah, let's eat." I mumble still gripping her waist tightly and none of us make a move to get up. The same tightening in my chest happens, a sudden rush of emotions flood through me and I have to hold in my gasp.
I have not felt this way about anyway before and even though Artemis is my mate, she still ignites something that has been buried for a long time even when I was with Carla because looking back to our relationship, I don't think I felt half of what I'm feeling right now.
She bites on her bottom lip, looking down before slowly lifting her eyes to me.
"Fuck it." I cup the back of her head, threading my fingers through her hair and bringing her lips hard on mine. She quickly responds wrapping her arms around my neck and I sit up, forcing her to sit on my lap with her legs locking around my torso.
The kiss starts out slow and passionate until she bites on my bottom lip and I groan, tugging her hair to get a better angle. She let's out a small moan, fingers playing with the nape of my hair and I lick her lip asking her for entrance but she refuses.
Mentally groaning in frustration, I flip her around causing her to lie on her back. She gasp in surprise and I use that opportunity to slip my tongue in, massaging it gently with hers as she moans tightening her legs around me.
How does she even taste like strawberry right now?
She slowly grinds her crotch against mine and I clench my fist pulling back from her and releasing a harsh breath through my nose, my jaw tightening.
"What's wrong?" She murmurs softly and I open my eyes, staring at how red and swollen her lips are, every trace of innocence plastered against her face as she stares at me worriedly.
This is not helping my situation.
I look away, pushing my hair from my face and sigh irritatingly. "Nothing is wrong."
She frowns cupping my cheeks. "Did I do something wrong, your feelings seem to be everywhere."
My eyes widen when she drops her hand from my face, looking away from me sadly and I quickly bring her face to mine pecking her lips.
"No, you did nothing wrong!" I rush out making sure she believes every word I'm saying and she furrows her brows, forehead scrunching up in confusion.
"Did you not like it?"
Panic flares within me and I shake my head. "Fuck Artemis! I liked it a lot okay, a little bit too much." I sigh licking my lips. "I really really liked it. "
"So why did you pull back?"
"Because of that." I state flatly pointing downwards to my crotch and she follows my actions, eyes widening as a blush finds way on her cheeks.
"Oh." She mutters looking away shyly and I smirk.
"Yeah Oh." I mimic chuckling when her cheeks get even redder.
She clears her throat. "D-do you, uh."
I raise my brow staring at her amusingly. "Do I what?"
She smacks her lips together, hollowing her cheeks and sighs tucking her hair behind her ear. "Do you need a moment to um..to uh, you know---"
"To what?" I muse bring my hand to muffle the laugh that wants to escape me and she huffs, eyes narrowing into slits and this time I burst out laughing, shoulders shaking with every movement and she purses her lips pushing me off her and grabs the popcorn stuffing it back in her mouth.
"Don't be like that Artemis." I say still laughing and she looks away hitting the play button for the movie. Chuckling, I sit behind her wrapping her arms around her middle waist and rest my chin on her shoulder.
She sighs leaning back into me, her body relaxing in my hold.
"What do you like about the stars?" She glances sideways looking at me for a minute and then looks back to the sky, a frown on her face.
We are lying side by side, my hand placed underneath my head and Artemis has hers placed on her stomach as she stares at the sky.
She sighs. "It reminds me of my parents."
I frown. This is actually the first time she's talking about her family.
"You don't talk much about them." I mutter.
"Gee I wonder what gave it out." She mutters sarcastically and I take one arm from underneath my head, stretching it to flick her forehead.
"Storm!" She whines and I chuckle.
"Don't roll your eyes at me." She huffs and somehow I know she was about to roll them again but then stops sighing frustratingly.
It's quiet again until Artemis speaks up. "They died when I was a kid."
"What happened if I may ask?"
She sits up, bringing her knees to her chest and rest her chin on it. "They died trying to protect me. We liked star gazing a lot so anytime I look up at the stars, I feel closer to them."
I sit up, looking at the stars and then I smile. "Hello Artemis' parents."
She snaps her head to look at me, brows furrowing in confusion. "W-what are you doing?"
"What does it look like I'm doing." I state obviously and point to the sky. "I'm saying hello to my mate's parents. Gotta make them like me you know."
She stares at me for a minute and laughs, shaking her head. "You're an idiot."
I grin, winking at her. "I'm your idiot."
Then look back up, the grin still plastered across my face. "I just want to let you know how amazing, beautiful, strong and kind your daughter is even though she lacks in the humor department." I say teasingly.
She scoffs, slapping my arm playful and I catch her wrist pulling her towards me as I repeat the next words. "I'm so happy that you risked your life for her because I wouldn't have gotten to opportunity to ever feel this way about someone in my life."
Her lips part slightly, face showing nothing but complete fondness as she cups my cheek resting her forehead against mine. "I'm so glad you're my mate Storm and I wouldn't change it for the world."
I lean forward, slowly pressing my lips against hers and pull back rubbing the pads of my thumb on it before looking into her eyes. "Always and forever."
She smiles nodding her head. "Always and forever."
*********
"Ring, ring, ring."Â I frown in my sleep. What is that?
The ringing sound comes again and Artemis groans cuddling closer to me. "Storm your phone." She murmurs sleepily.
"Huh?"
"Phone." She repeats tangling her legs with mine and I groan patting the space next to me. Who the fuck is calling me? Finding it, I slide my fingers across the screen without checking who the caller is and bring it to my ear as I pull Artemis closer to me.
"What the fuck do you want?" I mutter groggily, burying my face in Artemis hair and she sighs nuzzling her face in my chest.
"Storm Xavier Wyatt! Is that how to talk to your mother and why aren't you in your apartment?!"
It feels like a bucket of cold water is poured on me once I register the voice and I quickly sit up pushing Artemis away from me.
"Mom."
