Gwen Hamilton thought that her sixth year would be a nice, easy-going one.
However, that all changes at the news of the Triwizard Tournament that would be hosted at Hogwarts.

Her sixth year at Hogwarts wasn't supposed to be complicated. She expected a normal, relaxing year where she simply had to go to class and play Quidditch.
What she got was the exact opposite of that. It didn't cross her mind that her boyfriend would join a deadly competition.
She also didn't think that she would have feelings for someone who definitely wasn't her boyfriend.
