Potions class started with Snape complaining about the O.W.L.s explained how important they are. He then proceeded by assigning them quite a difficult potion.

The Draught of Peace was extremely difficult but how can Snape be Snape if he didn't try to make his students give up on life.

The ingredients had to be put in the right time and order and measurements, the mixture had to be stirred the right number of times and in the right directions that changed a couple of times.

In the end, all the students had to hand in their potion in a labelled flask. Gwen frowned at the acid green colour instead of the dull beige that it should be. Her failed potion caught the attention of Snape and some Slytherins who all snickered at the sight of it.

Later that day Gwen also had Arithmancy without any of her friends. Arithmancy was a difficult subject and Gwen had to work hard to keep up.

Gwen barely achieved a high enough mark to pass the class. She wasn't even sure why she choose the subject in the first place.

Gwen later had her first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson with Professor Lupin who proved that he was more than capable to do his job. He was better than all the teachers they had in the past combined.

The lesson also started with a small lecture about the O.W.Ls but the rest of it was a practical one.

After learning that the students were barely taught anything in the previous years, Professor Lupin decided to teach some defensive spells for them to try out.

Gwen also nearly slept during History of Magic along with the rest of the class. Gwen knew that the story of it all was probably exciting but Professor Binns managed to bring the subject to death.

She spent half an hour asleep and the other half aiming spitballs at the twins with Lee.

The last lesson of the day was Herbology, another subject that Gwen wasn't good at. Gwen was terrible with plants, magical or not. She couldn't even keep a cactus alive.

All she knew about Herbology was that she needed to pass it somehow.

When dinner time arrived Gwen was completely knackered. She heard the news about Hagrid's first-class which didn't go well at all.

Apparently, Hagrid brought Hippogriffs for his first lesson and one managed to attack Draco Malfoy. Apart from the fact that Hagrid might get in trouble, Gwen felt ecstatic that he was getting what he deserved.

"You know that sucks," Gwen stated as she dropped the chicken leg bone on her empty plate. "I mean, we haven't even got the chance to see the Hippogriffs because Malfoy had to screw everything up."

"Well, what do you expect? It's Malfoy we're talking about." Angelina said while rolling her eyes.

"You know what, I congratulate that Hippogriff for having the balls to do what we all wanted to do to Malfoy," Alicia admitted through gritted teeth. Gwen nodded in agreement and reached out for one of the chocolate muffins in front of her.

The twins, Lee, Angelina and Alicia all raised their goblets and clanked the glasses together. Gwen laughed and raised her own goblet and clanked it with the others.

The group went back into their common rooms after the feast. Gwen's Prefect duties with Cedric weren't for another hour so Gwen stayed chatting with the group, excluding Angelina, while doing her homework.

"So, that spell that you talked about. You know the one that turns things invisible, do you have it with you?" Fred asked the busy girl. Gwen looked up and set her quill down on her table. "It's upstairs in my trunk. I'll go get it for you."

Gwen went up the staircase that led up to the girl's dormitories. When Gwen entered the dorm she saw Angelina laying in her bed with the latest issue of Witch Weekly Magazine in her manicured hands.

Angelina looked up as soon as she heard the door close and smiled when she saw Gwen.

"You going for your night stroll with Diggorayyy?" Angelina asked as she put the magazine down. Gwen started to shuffle through her trunk to find the spellbook.

"Okay, you've been spending too much time with Lee. Plus, it's not a stroll it's our job." Gwen exclaimed. Angelina snorted and Gwen spun around to look at her after finding her book.

"Oh, please! You definitely have a crush on him and I think he likes you too. I swear that you two will be together in no time. Then you would use your prefect duties as an excuse to push each other against walls and snog the life out of each other." Gwen choked on air and felt her cheeks heat up as Angelina gave her a knowing smirk.

Gwen looked at her friend and started walking back towards the door. "That's absurd? So maybe I like the guy but..." Gwen didn't dare finish her sentence and quickly ran out of the dorms. Gwen rushed so fast that she fell the last few steps.

Gwen quickly stood back up again. "You know that one of these days you're going to get yourself killed." Gwen spun around to see Ginny descending with a reading book in hand. "Hey, Gin! How are you?" Gwen questioned.

"Fine actually, don't you have somewhere to be?" Ginny asked the brown-haired girl. Gwen bit her bottom lip. "No I don't.. wait!" Gwen stopped mid-sentence when she finally remembered.

"Oh yeah! I have to meet with Cedric... Five minutes ago!!" Gwen panicked once she looked at the time on her watch.

"I have to go! Bye Gin! Love you!" Gwen yelled behind her as she ran across the Common room. She threw the spellbook at Fred who caught it with ease. "Be patient and don't use it until the feast tomorrow night! Bye! Love you guys too!"

And just like that, the girl disappeared out of the common room so that she could meet up with the handsome boy.

Fred kept staring where Gwen had just disappeared. He sighed and opened the book to find the spell that she was talking about. Fred found the page rather quickly as Gwen had marked it with a hair clip as a bookmark.

"Listen, Fred. We know that this must be hard for you but I'm warning you to not do the same as last time." George warned his twin brother. Fred raised his head to look at his brother and Lee.

"What are you saying?" Fred asked as he placed the book down on the table in front of him, having no idea what was happening.

George and Lee shared a silent look while Fred tapped his foot impatiently. Lee sighed and forced himself to continue.

"Do you remember when Gwen had a crush on Oliver?" Lee started. Fred nodded his head in indication for Lee to continue. "Well, you started acting jealous and then Gwen noticed that you were acting strangely."

Fred furrowed his eyebrows not entirely interpreting what they were going with. "Acting strangely? How?"

George gave him a small, nervous smile and started ticking off a list of things. "You made fun of Oliver, you glared at Oliver, you never listened to Oliver about Quidditch, you complained about him, you talked trash about him-"

Lee stopped George by placing a hand on his shoulder. "I think he gets it," Lee said, glancing at the redhead in front of him. "Actually, no, I don't."

George clasped his hands together and inhaled sharply. "See because of your attitude, Gwen noticed that you didn't like Oliver that much so she backed off. So, what we're saying is that because you are one of her best friends, she valued your judgement which affected her thoughts on liking Oliver."

Fred scoffed and crossed his arms. "That's not true and you know it." Lee sighed once more.

"Denial is not just a river in Egypt. Look we know that being in love with your friend is hard. It's scary to admit your feelings to someone that you like because you never know if she likes you back. But Gwen seems to really like Cedric. And if you really love her then you would want the best for her."

Lee expected Fred to argue back but to his surprise, he was only staring mindlessly at the crackling fire. "I think I'm going to bed now," Fred stated and left his two friends alone in the common room.

"I'm so sorry that I'm late," Gwen confessed once she spotted Cedric leaning against the wall outside the common room.

Cedric smiled and shrugged at the girl. "It's okay. Better late than never, right?" Gwen chuckled. "Yeah, right."

Cedric and Gwen spent a few minutes of awkward silence, neither having any idea what to say to each other. Finally, Gwen gathered up some courage.

"So... We have nothing but time here. What do you hope to do in your future?" Gwen asked finally breaking the silence.

"Not sure yet. My father is set on me working at the ministry like him." Cedric replied. "How bout you?" He asked.

"Auror. Just like my parents and brothers." Gwen confessed to the handsome boy. "Not sure how I can become one since I can barely stand up for more than five minutes at a time," Gwen added.

Cedric couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "You seem to be doing good now." Gwen shushed him and stopped to take a good look at Cedric. "Don't you dare jinx it."

Cedric and Gwen stared at each other for a few seconds. Cedric then slowly reached his hand out and placed his thumb on Gwen's left cheek, wiping something away. Gwen gave Cedric a questioning look.

Cedric retreated his hand back. "You had an eyelash on your cheek. See?" Cedric showed Gwen his thumb and she could indeed see the eyelash.

Gwen had no idea what happened next, all she knew was that somehow she suddenly lost her balance and fell to the ground. "Oh, Merlin! You okay?" Cedric asked the girl and offered a hand which she gratefully expected.

She nodded and started straightening out the non-existent wrinkles on her clothes. Mainly because it would give her an excuse not to look up and face Cedric.

"I'm good. As I said this is perfectly normal. I mean I already fell off my bed, fell down the stairs twice and slipped on something today." Gwen stated, letting out a nervous chuckle.

"Don't be ashamed. I think it's kind of cute." He stated as they continued their walk once again. Gwen raised an eyebrow. "The fact that I put myself and others in constant danger is cute?"

Cedric shrugged and a bashful smile appeared on his face. "I don't know, it just is."

"Well, your definition of cute is different from mine."

Gwen and Cedric spent the rest of the hour talking to each other as they tried to fill the time. They started with an intense discussion about Quidditch and the teams that they supported.

The two also talked about their hobbies. Gwen was surprised to hear that Cedric thoroughly enjoyed sketching while Gwen stated how much so loved to write and how one day she desperately wishes to take up archery.

So, in the end, Gwen didn't mind her prefect duties one bit.

When Gwen arrived in the Common Room at night she planned to head straight to bed.

As she was about to climb up the stairs, Angelina and Alicia grabbed the girl by her arms and dragged her to a small table in the corner of the room.

Gwen stared at the two girls in front of her in disbelief. She felt like she was being interrogated for a crime she didn't commit.

The confused girl awkwardly waved at them. "Umm. Hello?" She had no clue what was happening.

"What happened with you and Pretty Boy Diggory?" Alicia asked leaning her head on the table. Gwen rolled her eyes when she finally realized what it was truly about.

"Nothing really, we just talked. I made a fool of myself when I fell but he didn't seem to mind since he called it cute-" Gwen tried to leave as she explained the events to them but was grabbed by Angelina who pushed her back down on her seat.

"Wait, a second? He called you cute?" Angelina shrieked. Pretty much the entire common room heard her as they turned around to see what had happened. Gwen shushed her super excited friend. "Keep your voice down!"

Alicia dramatically sighed. "You're so lucky. You have the most popular and handsome guy in the school liking you. Congrats!" Gwen rolled her eyes.

"First of all, there was nothing that says that he even likes me and second he's not just good looking. He's nice, smart, talented-" Gwen stopped as soon as she saw the look the two girls shared.

"And I'm going to bed before you two keep bugging me with false accusations. Goodnight!" Gwen waved at them and escaped before either of them could do anything to stop her. Gwen finally entered her room and flopped down on her bed with a satisfying groan.
