Bear-san Teaches Magic Part 4
âFufu, so many bears.â (Noa)
Noa was delighted to see the little bears lined up in the yard.
âBut their expression is weird. Even though Yuna-sanâs bear is cute.â (Noa)
Noa compared the bear she made with the ones I made.
âNo, I donât think so. The bears Noa made are cute too.â (Yuna)
âBut, as expected, Yuna-sanâs bear is cuter. Donât you think so too, Fina?â (Noa)
Noa showed both bears to Fina.
âEtto, itâs true that Yuna-oneechanâs bears have a slightly cuter face.â (Fina)
Fina also compared the bears and gave her honest opinion. I donât think she would have said such a thing before, but thatâs how close she has become to Noa.
âMaybe itâs because I donât have the image down to the finest detail?â (Noa)
In my case, I donât have that image in my mind. Maybe, but the bearâs expression depends on the casterâs emotion. If I think of a cute bear, itâll become a cute bear, and if I imagine an angry bear, itâll become an angry bear.
That may be thanks to the bear equipment.
âBut after a while, it will crumble, which Iâm having difficulty with right now.â (Noa)
Unfortunately, the bears Noa created crumbled the next day.
âItâs still weak, and maybe it doesnât have enough magical power.â (Yuna)
âU~u, I need to practice more!â (Noa)
Noa squeezed her hand and struck a pose of trying her best.
And Fina can now freely manipulate water as long as thereâs a water source nearby.
The range was about 1 meter, but beyond that, she still couldnât do it well, whether it was because of the magic or because it was difficult to visualize. Incidentally, Fina also practiced making bears with water, as if imitating Noa.
âAs expected, I also have to dress up as a bear to master the bear, after all.â (Noa)
âCliff will get angry, so stop it.â (Yuna)
If she did that, Cliff would be pissed. Eleanora-san might laugh, but Iâm the only one who can endure the shame.
While we were having a leisurely conversation, Cliff came into the garden.
âHowâs it going?â (Cliff)
âFather, look. I made a lot of bears.â (Noa)
Noa opened her arms to show Cliff the bear statues she made today. The ground was lined with palm-sized, bear-shaped clay figurines.
âAs expected, it was all about bearsâ¦â¦â (Cliff)
Cliff made an exasperated expression.
I understand that feeling, but we canât help it because the person herself was motivated. Images were important for magic. You could say she learned magic because she likes bears.
Cliff crouched down and picked up one of the bears.
âBut still, youâre doing well.â (Cliff)
âI practiced hard.â (Noa)
âEven so, it isnât strong enough, is it?â (Cliff)
The bear crumbled as Cliff put pressure on his hand. Noa saw it and screamed.
âFather, what have you done!?â (Noa)
âNo, I was just trying to confirm its hardness.â (Cliff)
âBut itâs still a terrible thing to crush them!â (Noa)
Noa puffed out her cheeks.
She canât help it because, between being broken naturally and being broken intentionally. The former canât be helped, but the latter left a feeling that it wouldnât break.
âThen, you have to make it so that it wonât break.â (Cliff)
âSomeday, I will make a bear that will never break.â (Noa)
Noa clenched her fists and declared so.
One day this garden will be full of bears, but I want to say it wasnât my fault.
âBut still, youâve learned magic faster than I thought you would.â (Cliff)
âYuna-sanâs teaching method was excellent.â (Noa)
Cliff already knew about the bearâs light magic.
He was astonished even then. But he was more amazed that the girls could create different colors of lights in the shape of a bear.
âI heard that talented people are not good at teaching others, but that doesnât seem to be always the case.â (Cliff)
âTalented?â (Yuna)
âThere arenât many mages as talented as you.â (Cliff)
It wasnât my talent, but the bear equipment God gave me. Noa and Fina had the natural talent to learn magic so quickly.
âSo what about the other magic types?â (Cliff)
Cliff asked Noa.
âWe just changed things.â (Noa)
âLet me see it.â (Cliff)
âU~u, I understand. But please donât laugh.â (Noa)
Noa showed Cliff some non-earth magic.
The fire was just enough to burn a little, and the water was just enough to flood her hands. The wind was just enough to make her hair sway a little.
Itâs not even close to a footnote compared to the studentsâ magic meet. Thereâs also a reason why I have yet to teach them in earnest. Noa and Finaâs growth were just beginning.
But seeing Noaâs magic, Cliff smiled and praised her.
âThatâs all I need to see. The rest you will have to learn on your own. Yuna can teach you the basics of how to gather magic power and how to create images. But beyond that, it depends on your magical power and preferences. Take your time. Learn the magic you like.â (Cliff)
Cliff said to Noa, then looked at me.
âYuna, thank you for everything youâve done. Noa is beginning to understand magic. But now, you can let her learn slowly.â (Cliff)
âAre you sure?â (Yuna)
âWe canât let magic lessons take up all her time. I told Noa that once she learned the basics, she should also study other things.â (Cliff)n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Apparently, she neglected other things due to magic practice.
âU~u, Iâm sorry. I wanted to learn more about magic from Yuna-san.â (Noa)
âBecause she will neglect her other studies. We must moderate magic lessons.â (Cliff)
Magic is one of many things she has to study.
âOkay, I understand.â (Yuna)
Besides, I donât want to teach others magic too much.
The rest were all dangerous magics. Whether fire or wind magic, if it became strong enough, it would burn its opponent or shred them to pieces. I donât think itâs right for me to teach that.
Of course, all magic depends on how the caster uses it, but it would still be dangerous.
If she needs it after this, she can learn it by herself.
That may be after she went to the academy or sooner.
But I am sure Cliff and Eleanora-san will make that decision.
Although, if she asked me to teach her again, I would do so.
âThank you for today, Yuna-san.â (Noa)
âYouâre welcome.â (Yuna)
âFina, it was fun practicing magic together. Letâs practice together again. At that time, I will also be able to use water magic even better.â (Noa)
âYes, I had a great time practicing with you, Noa-sama. I will also practice making bears using earth magic.â (Fina)
âLetâs make a lot of bears together!â (Noa)
âYes!â (Fina)
They held each otherâs hands and made a promise.
Itâs a heartwarming scene.
I could enjoy a leisurely life without fighting monsters for the first time in a long time. I had been caught up in a lot of trouble recently. It was fun to relax with Fina and Noa once in a while.
When I dropped Fina off at her home that evening, Tirumina-san invited me to dinner. She said it was to thank me for teaching Fina magic.
Occasionally, I am treated to a feast on their table, and I accept the generosity with open arms.
âYuna-chan, thank you for teaching Fina magic.â (Tirumina)
âThis is nothing compared to what Fina gave me.â (Yuna)
Fina has done a lot for me since I came to this world. This much is nothing.
âYuna-oneesan, youâre the one whoâs always helping me out.â (Fina)
âThatâs not true, Fina. Youâve helped me in so many ways.â (Yuna)
If it werenât for Fina, I donât know if I would have enjoyed living in this world. Itâs possible that I would have been a shut-in. Itâs because I met Fina that I am here now.
âSo how much magic has Fina learned?â (Gentz)
Gentz-san asked.
âArenât you going to ask Fina to show you her magic instead?â (Yuna)
âBecause Yuna-oneesan told me not to use magic after practicing the whole day.â (Fina)
Oh, right, I did say that. I heard that Fina kept her word. She is a good girl.
âFina, why donât you show them then?â (Yuna)
âIs that okay?â (Fina)
âAs long as you donât feel tired, you should be fine. If you use too much magic power though, you will faint from fatigue, so be careful.â (Yuna)
âIs that so?â (Fina)
âBased on my experience, no doubt about it.â (Yuna)
I felt exhausted when I defeated the Kraken, even though I only used magic power.
I would have collapsed there if Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear had not carried me.
âSo be careful not to use too much magic.â (Yuna)
âOkay.â (Fina)
âOr maybe you should find out your limits for once?â (Yuna)
âYuna-chan, donât let my daughter do anything unreasonable.â (Tirumina)
âIâm just kidding.â (Yuna)
I was half serious when I said itâs good to know your limits. But Fina, who was just learning magic, might not want to push it.
After the meal, someone darkened the room. Itâll be easier to see the light magic. Fina gathered magic power and casted light magic.
âItâs Bear-san!â (Shuri)
A light in the shape of a bear floated on Finaâs palm.
âI donât think you have to make it into a bear.â (Yuna)
âTogether with Noa-sama, I was practicing making bears, and it was easy to imagine.â (FIna)
Ah, itâs the same way I can easily imagine bears. If she only imagined bears all the time, she could make bears without much trouble.
âBut, youâve already become able to use such splendid light magic.â (Tirumina)
âOneechan, youâre awesome.â (Shuri)
âThatâs amazing. But Iâm not going to allow you to become an adventurer.â (Gentz)
Gentz-san said to Fina like a real father.
Although, I agree with that.
âIâm not going to be an adventurer, so donât worry. If I became an adventurer, I think Mom would be sad.â (Fina)
âFinaâ¦â (Tirumina)
Finaâs birth father was an adventurer who died. So she knew that if she became an adventurer, Tirumina-san would be worried.
âFina, youâre so sweet.â (Yuna)
I pat Finaâs head, whoâs standing next to me.
Then Fina surprised everyone by creating multicolored bear lights.

Authorâs Note:
This marks the end of the magic lesson for now.
Sometime in the future, Iâd like to write about the magical appearances of the two as theyâve grown.

Itâs a story about an orphanage. Please check it.
