Bear-san Explores The Room, Part 1
Three bear-shaped lights float above us, made by Finaâs light magic.
âA bear? A fox would be cuter, Fina, how about changing it into a fox?â (Kagali)
Kagali-san said while looking at the bear-shaped lights.
âWell, I practiced imagining Yuna-oneesanâs bear, so I can only make bears.â (Fina)
Fina makes an apologetic gesture.
âThen it canât be helped. Next time Iâll train you hard with foxes.â (Kagali)
âEtto, yes?â (Fina)
Fina nodded at Kagali-sanâs words.
âFina, you donât have to train with her if you donât want to. Kagali-san, Fina has a personality that makes it difficult for her to refuse, so please donât make unreasonable requests.â (Yuna)
Fina looked at Kagali-san and me, then nodded after worrying a little.
âWhat, is it an unreasonable request to turn it into a fox light? Well then, when Sakura starts practicing magic, Iâll make her learn fox magic.â (Kagali)
Fox magic. That means itâs in the form of a fox.
Well, I thought that was cute.
I donât know if Sakura can use magic after what happened, but I hope she can.
âYou guys, youâll never know when a knight armor might attack, so how about being a little nervous.â (Mia)
Mia warns us against making a fuss over the bear light.
âEven if it attacks, weâd notice it because weâd hear the sound of moving metal.â (Yuna)
We descended the stairs, illuminated by the bear light. After descending the stairs, a long corridor stretched in front of us.
âWait a minute. Thereâs knight armor in the back.â (Mia)
Mia speaks up.
But I canât see it.
âFina, move the light forward.â (Yuna)
âEtto, yes.â (Fina)
After replying, Fina moves one of the bear lights floating ahead.
The movement is awkward, but sheâs doing it properly.
She seemed to continue practicing even after her magic study session.
The bearâs light illuminated the end of the passage, and we saw a knight armor.
âThere really was a knight armor. Iâm surprised you noticed.â (Yuna)
âFufu, My eyes are good.â (Mia)
âWell, Iâm going to go take it down now.â (Yuna)
As usual, I silence the knight armor with a lightning-clad bear puppet.
And after confirming the safety of the surroundings, I called everyone.
âA door.â (Yuna)
Behind the knight armor was a large double door.
âUuuuuuuu, eh~â
Gacha, gacha.
Mia pushed the door and turned the knob, but the door didnât budge.
It looks like itâs locked tight.
âLooks like we have no choice but to break it.â (Yuna)
âThere wonât be many knight armors coming out from inside, right?â (Mia)
âWe wonât know until we open it.â (Yuna)
Thereâs no way to tell with detection skills, and thereâs no way to confirm.
âBut how do we break it?â (Mia)
While Mia was wondering, my bear puppet was holding the doorknob.
Then, I put all my strength into it. With a loud thump, one of the doors comes off.
âHey, what did you do!?â (Mia)
âI just tore the door off.â (Yuna)
With the help of my bear puppet.
âNo, no, it shouldnât be that easy.â (Mia)
âIâm sure the door was already damaged. Now, letâs go inside.â (Yuna)
I am not going to be bothered with a lot of questions, so I decided to put the broken door up against the wall and went inside. Before doing so, I peeked in to make sure it was safe. Fina moved the bear light accordingly.
Finaâs bear light illuminated the doorway.
I can see what looks like a fence in the front.
We moved up to the fence.
The fence goes all the way to the end, and it looks like a large room. A bit big may be an understatement.
âI have no idea how big it is.â (Fina)
Finaâs magic light alone canât illuminate the whole room, so I also cast my light magic.
âWater?â (Yuna)
It was water that was illuminated by my light.
âA reservoir?â (Carol)
âBut itâs quite spacious.â (Mia)
Mia leans against the fence and looks out into the distance.
Bigger than a school pool.
âDonât fall off, because if you do, I canât help you.â (Yuna)
âWell, you canât help anyone with that kind of appearance.â (Mia)
Itâs quite wide, but if itâs a reservoir, itâs okay to have this much. On the contrary, itâs rather small.
I moved the bear light, but there was nothing suspicious about it.
Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear are also not responding.
âThen again, Yunaâs light magic is a bear too.â (Mia)
Mia looked at the light of the bear floating near the ceiling and said genuinely.
âNext time, maybe I should try practicing bear magic too.â (Carol)
Since Carol said such a thing, then Kagali-san said âA fox would be betterâ.
âWhatâs up with you and foxes?â (Mia)
âBecause I like foxes.â (Kagali)
Well, as expected, Kagali-san canât call herself a fox.
Fina spoke up as I looked around the large room while this conversation was going on.
âYuna-oneesan. Over there, thereâs a door. And a knight armor.â (Fina)
There are several doors leading out of the entrance, with passageways on either side. And in front of one of those doors is a knight armor.
âThat means that door is suspicious.â (Kagali)
âI wonder if the person who put the knight armor over there was stupid. There are so many doors, but to put the knight armor only in front of that door.â (Mia)
Mia said what everyone was thinking.
âWell, it takes courage to leave things defenseless.â (Yuna)
Especially if there are countless treasure chests in there, it takes courage to leave without securing it.
I think itâs human nature to want to lock up the things that are important.
I defeated the knight armor that was blocking the way and came to the door.
The door was locked, but it never mattered. I broke down the door, then cast bear light into the room and checked it.
There are no knight armors in sight.
âIt seems to be fine.â (Yuna)
I turned off my bear light, and when Fina and the others entered the room, Finaâs bear light illuminated the room instead.
The room was kinda small. Itâs the size of two rooms that are about 6 tatami mats wide.
I looked around the room.
âItâs in a lot better condition than I thought itâd be.â (Kagali)
âMaybe because itâs underground, so itâs not that bad.â (Mia)
As Kagali-san and Mia said, it was in a better condition than expected, probably because it hadnât been exposed to the outside air.
âWell then, letâs see what we can find.â (Yuna)
âThatâs right. Since they went to the trouble of putting the knight armor out there, there must be something in here.â (Mia)
Mia gets motivated.
âYuna-oneesan. I want to search too, so can I get off from Swaying Bear?â (Fina)
âYeah, sure.â (Yuna)
There isnât anything particularly dangerous, so I gave my permission.
Then we split up and searched the room.
âAs expected, the light doesnât turn on.â (Mia)
Mia touched the magic stone attached to the wall, but there was no reaction.
âIâm sorry, Fina. Can you please help me get some light into the room?â (Mia)
âY- yes.â (Fina)
When Mia asked Fina, the three floating bear lights moved and lit up the entire room.
âThank you.â (Mia)
Fina looked happy when Mia thanked her.
It seemed that she was happy to help.
âThere are bookshelves, but no books.â (Mia)
âIf there were books, we would know what kind of magic tool they were making.â (Yuna)
âI wonder if they disposed of them when they left or took them. If so, thereâs little hope for the other rooms.â (Kagali)
I think it was the room of a researcher who was making magical tools, but we couldnât find anything noteworthy.
âThereâs a bed. Thereâs something bulging in it.â (Mia)
At Miaâs words, everyoneâs eyes turn to the bed.
âI have a bad feeling,â (Kagali)
âSame here.â (Carol)
âFina, donât look.â (Yuna)
âYeah.â (Fina)
I asked Fina to step back and have Swaying Bear cover her view.
After confirming that, Mia puts her hand on the blanket.
âHere we go!â (Mia)
Mia slowly lifts the blanket.
The dust was flying around.
And underneath the blanket was exactly what we imagined.
âU~uâ
Mia and Carol lightly avert their eyes.
A skeletal remains lay on the bed.
Iâm glad I didnât let Fina see this.
âFina, you absolutely must not look this way.â (Yuna)
âKagali, you shouldnât look either.â (Mia)
âYou donât have to worry about me. Iâve seen more than my fair share of dead people.â (Kagali)
âEven though youâre a little girl. What kind of life are you leading?â (Mia)
Kagali-san stares at the skeletal remains.
âYou really arenât afraid, are you?â (Mia)
âThereâs no reason to be afraid of something like this.â (Kagali)
âIf it were my sister, she would be crying by now.â (Mia)
Kagali-san ignores Miaâs words and observes the skeleton.
âIt got something in its hand.â (Kagali)
âYouâre right.â (Yuna)
A short cane-like object was held by the hand of the skeletal remains.
But no one wanted to reach out to it.
âCome on, Mia. Itâs your turn.â (Kagali)
âM- me?! Iâm going to take it?â (Mia)
Mia is surprised when Kagali-san pushes her back.
âWhat, are you letting a little girl like me do it?â (Kagali)
Kagali-san used her appearance just for this moment.
Thatâs a nasty thing to do. But I donât want to call her out because I donât want it to come back to me, so Iâll keep my mouth shut.
âThatâsâ¦â¦â (Mia)
Mia shifted her gaze from Kagali-san to me.
âIâm tired from fighting, you know.â (Yuna)
Itâs a lie. But If possible, I donât want to touch the skeletal remains either, so Iâd like to refrain.
Mia gives up after looking at Kagali-san, me, and Carol.
Carol was shaking her head as hard as she could.
As expected, Fina, who is hiding behind Swaying Bear, doesnât want to do it, so she prepares herself.
âFine, Iâll do it.â (Mia)
Mia slowly reaches out to the skeleton.
Her hand is trembling.
Why do people want to surprise others at times like this?
But, as expected, I held back. I weighed myself here.
While I decided to hold back, Kagali-san slowly approached Mia.
Then, when Miaâs hand grabbed the staff held by the skeletal remainsâ hand, Kagali-san raised her voice.
âWaa~â (Kagali)
âKyaa~â (Mia)
A cute girlish voice that was different from usual came out from Mia.
âItâs quite a cute voice.â (Kagali)
Kagali-san laughed, perhaps because she liked Miaâs reaction.
âYou⦠Thereâs a limit for mischief.â (Mia)
Mia is a little teary-eyed.
âWhat, did you leak?â (Kagali)
âI didnât leak!â (Mia)
What leaked?
I always did this kind of thing.
âYuna! What are you laughing at!?â (Mia)
The boomerang curved at me.
âKeep an eye out on Kagali. Youâre her guardian.â (Mia)
âItâs not like Iâm her guardian or something.â (Yuna)
In the first place, Kagali-san is older than me.
âIf you learn such mischief from an early age, you wonât grow up to be a good adult. I really want you to follow my cute little sistersâ example.â (Mia)
No, Kagali-san is an adult, an old lady even. Besides, sheâs not a person, to begin with.
âYou stay on top of the bear.â (Mia)
Mia picks up Kagali-san and puts her on top of Hugging Bear.

Authorâs Note:
And so, we are exploring underground.
With Yunaâs bear magic, the door opened easily. (lol)
