Bear-san receives a Letter from a Summoned Bird
A few days have passed since the Huge Slime incident.
I have been holed up for the first time in a long time, and I had to stay indoors. However, I could not stay at home alone like in my former world.
Since I came to this world, more and more people have come to my house.
âYuna Onee-chan, please watch over my magic training again, even if itâs just once in a while.â
Fina started to say such a thing, probably because of the Slime.
Fina asked earnestly, so I said, âSure.â
It was nice to have more means to protect myself than anything else.
Then Noa came to visit me between studies.
âSwaying Bear, Hugging Bear. Over here.â
Noa played with Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, who had turned into cub-sized bears.
âI knew it, Bear-san is the best.â
Noa looked satisfied as she hugged Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear as they approached her.
âNow I can study hard again.â
âWell then, Iâm glad.â
Peace.
Then I heard from Tirumina-san that the store was doing well, and the director of the orphanage told me there were no problems with daily life, and I was left with nothing to do but relax.
I enjoyed my adventures, but spending time relaxing like this was also nice.
While I was lounging on the bed with Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, Swaying Bear, and Hugging Bear squealed and looked out the window.
âWhatâs wrong?â
Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear look out the window and see a large bird.
For a moment, they were surprised but soon realized it was Sanya-sanâs summoning bird.
The bird was as large as an eagle, and when I opened the window, it entered the room and perched on the back of a chair.
Sanya-san, were you watching me?
Sanya-san could see things far away through the summoned birdâs eyes.
It was useful but also an ability that could be used for criminal activities.
If you put it that way, magic could be used for various crimes.
A kitchen knife could be used to make delicious food, but it could also be used as a weapon to stab a person.
As with anything, the power depends on the mind of the person who uses it.
I waved my hand in front of the bird, but it didnât respond, as it was not supposed to be able to control the bird.
At any rate, as before, I looked at the birdâs neck and saw that a tube was strapped to it.
âItâs a message, right?â
I opened the lid of the tube attached to the summoned birdâs neck, and a curled-up piece of paper came out from inside.
âWhat is it? Itâs not a problem, is it?â
I had a bad feeling about this, but I couldnât help but look at it.
I unfold the rolled-up paper.
I knew it was from Sanya-san.
I thought it would be a hassle, but I was wrong.
It was more like a letter to Fina.
It said that once a year, the Adventurersâ Guild of the Royal Capital sponsored an event to compete in dismantling techniques.
The letter was a request for Fina to participate in the event.
I didnât know there was such an event.
Maybe I should tell Fina about it.
âKuh.â
The summoned bird chirps.
âHere, you can return now.â
âKuh.â
The bird didnât fly out the window.
âAre you waiting for a reply to your letter, by any chance?â
I couldnât reply right away, so I just wrote what I would tell Fina on a piece of paper and put it inside the birdâs tube.
When the bird confirmed that the letter was inside the tube, it flew away from the window.
I closed the window and went to Finaâs house.
Fina was helping out at home, and Tirumina-san and Shuri had gone shopping.
And instead, there was an unusual person in the house, even though it was daytime.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âGentz-san, you were at home.â
âItâs my day off.â
As a matter of course, the Adventurersâ Guild was not closed on regular holidays. So it was a rotating day off.
âYuna Onee-chan, have some tea.â
âThank you.â
I drink the tea.
Yes, it was delicious.
âSo, what happened today?â
I told him I had received a letter from Sanya-san and what it said.
âThey have a dismantlingâ¦â
âOh, I remember something like that.â
Gentz-san, who was listening to the conversation with me, interjects.
âFather, do you know about it?â
âFina doesnât know?â
âYes.â
âWell, itâs an event sponsored by the Adventurersâ Guild in the Royal Capital. Besides, Fina has been a member of the guild until recentlyâ¦â
Gentz-san seems to remember something about Fina in the past and closes his mouth.
Yes, I know. It was easy to forget because it was hard to imagine now, but not so long ago, Fina was busy living.
It was only natural that she didnât know about events like that in Kingâs Landing.
âDad, Iâm happy now.â
Gentz-san smiled happily at Finaâs words.
âSo, what are you going to do?â
The letter only said that there was a demolition event and that he wanted Fina to attend.
It did not say anything about the contents.
âSimply put, itâs a Dismantling Skills and knowledge competition. The main participants are adventurers and employees of the adventurersâ guild.â
âHave you ever participated in this event, Gentz-san?â
âNo!â
No need to be so puffed up and proud.
âWell, basically, the Adventurersâ Guild in the Royal Capital will take the lead, so transportation and lodging will be at their own expense. Thereâs no merit in taking time off work to go.â
âSo no one from the guilds in Crimonia will be participating?â
âNo. I will be away from Crimonia for a few days. Besides, itâs just a festival organized by the royal capital, so we wonât get paid for dismantling.
It would certainly be hard not to get paid.
Given that, the benefits of participating from Crimonia were low.
âBesides, the staff canât participate unless the guild master gives permission.â
âReally?â
âIf we all joined, the Adventurersâ Guild would run out of staff.â
That was true. If every personnel from the Guild joined, there would be problems with the work of the Adventurersâ Guild.
âBesides, if the guild master gives permission, heâs like the guildâs representative in town.â
âSo if Iâm a representative of Crimonia?â
âThat would be different. Fina is not a guild member, and according to Yuna, she will be introduced by the guild master of Royal Capital. Right?â
âMe, with an introduction from the guild master in the Royal Capital⦠Impossible!â
Fina shook her head.
âJust to confirm, are adventurers free to join?â
âAdventurers have freedom. What is it? Is Yuna going to be part of this? Did you get the ability to dismantle without us knowing about it?â
Gentz-san looked a little surprised, but there was no way I could dismantle the place.
âI donât participate, I canât dismantle, and I never will.â
âYuna Onee-chan is fine with not being able to dismantle for the rest of her life.â
Fina raised her voice.
I wondered. Was it my imagination that it sounded like I should be a useless girl for the rest of my life?
âItâs okay. Iâm not going to dismantle you for the rest of my life.â
âHow is that that even possible for an adventurer?â
Gentz-san looked at me dismayed, but dismantling was impossible for a city girl.
I didnât have the skills, knowledge, or experience to dismantle monsters, and thatâs a triple whammy.
Even if I were to participate, I would probably fail the first round or fail the qualifying round.
I did not intend to participate, though.
âFina, why donât you participate?â
ââ¦!â
âIt would be a good experience.â
ââ¦butâ¦â
âBesides, Yuna is going with you, right?â
âYes, Iâll go with you.â
If Fina would like to go, I would go with her.
Then I felt safe.
âBut my motherâ¦â
âYou think Tirumina will stop me?â
Fina thought for a moment and shook her head.
âI bet, Fina, I donât think sheâll let you go alone, but Tiruminaâs trust in Yuna is very high.â
She was flattered but embarrassed to be told so clearly.
As I was talking with Fina and Gentz-san, the door opened.
âOh my, Yuna-chan.â
âYuna Nee-chan!â
Coming out of the door were Tirumina-san and Shuri, who had gone shopping.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âWe were just talking about how Tirumina-san has a high level of trust in me, so I can let Fina go.â
When I replied, Fina said shyly, âNo, I wasnât!â Fina said shyly.
âAnd what were you talking about?â
Tirumina-san asked as she put away the items she had bought.
I told her about Sanya-sanâs letter.
âSo, if Yuna-chan goes with you, that means Iâll give you the green lightâ¦Gentz is rightâ¦thereâs no better adventurer to trust than Yuna-chan.â
It was nice to know that they believed in me.
âOh, but since youâre escorting her this time, I wonder if thereâs a commission? Iâd be happy to give you a discount on the friend price.â
âI donât want your money.â
I had no intention of taking money from Fina and her family.
âBut Iâd like to see Finaâs courage too.â
âMe too!â
At Tirumina-sanâs words, Shuri also raised her hand.
âWell then, Tirumina-san, would you like to go too?â
âSure?â
âAs long as there are no problems with my work.â
She knew about the bearâs transfer gate.
âYes. Iâm sure Liz-san and the others can take care of the eggs for a bit, and Iâm sure we can get the store done ahead of time.â
âOkay then, me too.â
Hearing Tirumina-sanâs story, Gentz-san expresses his willingness to go with them, but was rejected.
âGentz-san must have caused trouble for everyone in the Adventurersâ Guild when he went to the sea.â
âWell, yes, butâ¦â
âBesides, as the head of the family, I wish you the best of luck.â
Tirumina-san smiled at Gentz-san.
âGood luck, father.â
âOh, okay.â
Shuri even said all he could do was nod.
Gentz-san, I feel sorry for you, but it was the husbandâs role to be depended on by his family.
Above all, they canât depend on me when Iâm single, so maybe this would be a good thing for them.
As I am now, I might end up being single all my life.
From out of nowhere, I heard Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear cooing.
