Bear-san Meets with Lord
âI will not allow you to kill him.â (???)
âMy Lordâ¦whyâ¦â (Cyrus)
The knight died before he even heard the answer.
Yes, he was dead.
It was not pleasant to watch someone dying in front of your eyes.
Unlike the corpses of monsters and animals, it evoked a different emotion.
âWhat happened, Swaying Bear-chan, Hugging Bear-chan, please move aside. I canât see.â (Noa)
Noa tried her best to look at the knight, but Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear blocked her.
It seemed that they understood my intention. I was glad that Noa didnât have to witness the moment when a person was killed.
Seeing the moment someone was killed was different from seeing a dead body.
But I didnât even notice this guy approaching us.
Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear didnât warn me about him either, and when I looked at them, they looked apologetic.
Ronne jumped out from behind Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.
âBellung!â (Ronne)
Ronne came up beside me, shouting the manâs name.
Bellungâ¦this man was the Lord of this town, the one who tried to make Ronne his own.
He was the main culprit, the reason so many people were suffering.
Such a man was right in front of me.
âWasnât that Knight a Knight in your service?â (Yuna)
I turned to the slain knight.
âI donât consider him my Knight when he tries to kill my dear friend. He is my enemy.â (Bellung)
âDonât be ridiculous, you call Ryan your dear friend, yet you did this to him.â (Ronne)
âRyan is just doing his best as my best friend, which is to keep showing me fairies.â (Bellung)
âThat is not something a best friend would do. You didnât even consider his feelings when you did this to him.â (Ronne)
Actually, if I considered someone a friend, I wouldnât directly mention our relationship (as friends) or brag about it (the friendship). I was not one to express my emotions regarding such topics directly.
If it was not for me being awkward about these things, I would not have trouble making friends.
âHe brought Ronne to me, we studied fairies together, and he gave me his magic power. What would you call that if not friendship?â (Bellung)
When he said so, I couldnât retort anything in return.
Ryan brought Ronne to the Lord of his own volition, and together they studied fairies, and according to Ronneâs story, Ryan even offered him his magic power of his own volition.
âBut he wouldnât have expected you to keep him sleeping in a place like this to drain his magic power.â (Ronne)
I agree with Ronneâs statement, and I never would ever think of doing something so horrible.
Some people might give their lives for the sake of their family, friends, and loved ones. But no one would agree to give their magic power to another person until they were bedridden just to show them a fairy.
âYou have never even talked to him about this, what do you know about his feelings regarding this? Perhaps it is his intention to continue to give me his magic power, you know? Well, that time would probably never come. After all, these magic circles are supposed to last for a lifetime.â (Bellung)
A lifetime⦠that would mean that Bellung didnât wish for Ryan to wake up at all.
There was certainly no way for us to confirm Ryanâs will currently.
Dead men tell no tales. Ryan is still alive, but since he couldnât speak, it was basically the same thing as being as good as dead.
For years, Ronne, Ronneâs partner, and the residents of this town suffered because of a man who was willing to do anything to achieve his selfish motives.
It just made me furious.
âSo, hereâs another question for you, who are you people? What are you doing in a place like this?â (Bellung)
âWe are here to rescue Ronne from you.â (Yuna)
âI donât think I will allow you to do that.â (Bellung)
The manâs face warped at my words.
However, I had no intention of following what he wished.
âIâm not asking for your permission.â (Yuna)
âBut did Ronne herself say that she would go with you?â (Bellung)
I was told by Ronne that she didnât wish to leave her partner, Ryan, behind. Besides, she could not return to the fairy forest where her friends were because this person could use their connection to locate her.
In the worst-case scenario, I could escape to Crimonia by using my Bear Transfer Gate, but Ronne would not be able to return to the Fairy Forest as well.
Howeverâ¦
âWell, she did say that if we cut the magic connection between you and Ryan, she would return home.â (Yuna)
âDo you think you can do that?â (Bellung)
âIf I blow it all away, it wonât matter anyway.â (Yuna)
âHouh, youâre a funny young lady. You are even dressed funnily as if you are trying to make me laugh.â (Bellung)
Disgusting bastard.
âIâm not dressed like this to make you laugh.â (Yuna)
âWell, people dress differently. I guess you are not dressed like this to make me laugh. Would you be so kind as to introduce me to that person, though?â (Bellung)
The man looked behind me.
Primme should have been hiding behind Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, but now she was currently floating on top of Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear and about to go forward.
âPrimme, donât come out!â (Ronne)
âSo youâre the person who took this personâs magic so that you could see my sister.â (Primme)
Primme ignored Ronneâs words and came over to us.
âYou are Ronne-sanâs sister, are you not? You are beautiful as well, just like your sister.â (Bellung)
He looked at Primme with ecstasy in his eyes.
He was really fascinated by fairies.
However, as the one who was receiving such a stare, Primme did not feel comfortable.
âFufu, thatâs harsh. Why donât you become mine? I guarantee you a life without any inconvenience.â (Bellung)
âNo, thanks. Iâm not a thing, and besides, you canât see me.â (Primme)
Primme should have disappeared by now, and when Primme moved, the manâs gaze followed in her general direction but not focused on her.
âIndeed, I wonât be able to see you. Perhaps one of the ladies over here is your partner?â (Bellung)
The man turned his gaze to me and Noa, who was behind Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.
âItâs me.â (Yuna)
I answer honestly, not wanting Noa to be mistaken and attacked.
âPrimme, come out.â (Yuna)
I called out to Primme to prove that I was her partner, and the manâs gaze turned to Primme now that he could see her.
âOh, so you are her partner.â (Bellung)
Now, he was looking at me as if he were licking me.
It was disgusting.
âWhy donât you come and live with us? I will give you the best hospitality.â (Bellung)
âHospitality? You mean sleeping eternally like that guy?â (Yuna)
I looked lightly at Ryan, who was sleeping.
I didnât know what this Lord was planning to do, so I looked at him with minimal eye contact to keep track of him while looking at Ryan.
âThatâs up to you. As long as you donât suddenly start talking about sending her home like he did.â (Bellung)
âRyan⦠he said soâ¦â (Ronne)
So Ryan did want to send Ronne home. On the other hand, this man in front of me was opposed to that. To keep Ronne in this place, he even did such a horrible thing to his supposedly best friend. How selfishâ¦
âAnd you lied to me about it. I thought you said you had no family or acquaintances. Is it possible that you have other fairy friends?â (Bellung)
The manâs expression changed as he smiled at me.
âI only said that because my sister and I had a falling out a long time ago, and I didnât know where she was. Of course, Iâve never met any other fairies, so I donât know where they are.â (Ronne)
Ronne lied, trying to protect her sister and her fairy friends.
If this man knew about the fairy forest, he would definitely bring a lot of trouble.
âWell then, that sister of yours, Primme-san, right? Shall we hear what she has to say about this? Where did you come from? Are there many more of your fellow fairies out there?â (Bellung)
âHmph! Whoâs going to talk to you?â (Primme)
âSo you donât care about what happens to your partner?â (Bellung)
The man now looked at me.
âWhatâs going to happen?â (Primme)
âYou donât have to tell us that.â (Yuna)
The guy looked at the sleeping Ryan.
âYou think you can do itâ¦â (Yuna)
âI think so, butâ¦â (Bellung)
I wonder.
Well, that knight under him certainly looked strong, if only from his point of view.
Even if Bellung hadnât seen my match with that Knight, he should have at least witnessed the final stage of the match.
And yet, he was still looking so composed.
âIt seems that you are quite a skilled fighter, far from how you appear, so letâs fight, though I will definitely win.â (Bellung)
He said as he looked at the Knight he had killed.
âIf I win, you will stay here with the fairy for the rest of your life. If I lose, I will release Ronne.â (Bellung)
âDo you expect me to believe such a promise?â (Yuna)
âIf you donât believe me, all you have to do is beat me.â (Bellung)
The man then rolled up his clothes at his chest.
ââ¦a magic stone.â (Yuna)
What came out from under the rolled-up clothes was a magic stone embedded in his body.
Then, just like the man who was lying down, there was a magic circle also etched on his body.
âIf you win against me and break this magic stone, the supply of magic from him will stop. That means you will be able to take him and Ronne away.â (Bellung)
If the man was saying was true, I could take Ronne and Ryan out of this place if I won the battle and destroyed the magic stone.
âDonât fight, Primme, itâs not too late. Run away with your partner.â (Ronne)
ââ¦Sister.â (Primme)
âYou can run away, Ronneâs sister, but I wonât let that bear lady go.â (Bellung)
âKuhâ¦â (Primme)
âBecause with your partnerâs magic power, I will be able to find you, no matter where you go. If you could stay with us, I would be pleased.â (Bellung)
Ronne did mention that he could locate Ronne by tracing her magic power.
So that means if I was ever captured and studied, he would be able to find Primmeâs location.
âWell, what do we do now? Bear lady.â (Bellung)
âThatâs obvious. Iâm going to beat you to a pulp and get Ronne out of here.â (Yuna)
I pointed my Bear-san puppet at the man.
âThen letâs go outside. Itâs too small for both of us here. Besides, weâd both be in trouble if anything happened to him.â (Bellung)
He said so as he looked at the sleeping man. Unlike the Knight who was killed, this man would be more annoying in many ways.
But I see no reason to refuse the proposal.
Even if this man could fight me at his full power, I could also fight him at my full power.
So I accepted the manâs proposal.
âOkay.â (Yuna)
The man smiled at my words and walked silently up the stairs.
