Bear-san Guides Deiga-san, Part 3
Fina and I arrived in the room that was currently being used as a storage room.
There were indeed some belongings in the room, but there was also a bed, so if we cleaned this room a bit, Deiga-san could use it.
I put the big things in the bear box, and Fina opened the window to let in some fresh air.
âUncle Deiga was pleased to meet Anzu-chan.â (Fina)
âAnzu seemed happy as well.â (Yuna)
It was not what Anzu would have wanted, but I wish Deiga-san had contacted me first before coming. This way I could have arranged for Anzu to spend quality time with him. Maybe close the shop for a few daysâ¦
Iâve already asked someone to do the shopping for me, so if I suddenly close the shop now, it would cause problems for that person.
Well, if I simply put supplies in the bear box, it wouldnât cause issues even if the number of supplies was quite a lot, even if we were just moving it for one day.
But if I suddenly close the shop now, it would cause trouble for my regular customers. There may be families who were planning to go out to eat.
When I think about it that way, taking a day off without letting people know beforehand could cause many trouble.
Knowing this, maybe Anzu also felt that she couldnât take a day off so easily.
This was a difficult part of working in the service industry.
Well, for me, Deiga-sanâs arrival to Crimonia was not something that happened many times a year, so I thought that it would be alright to close the shop. However, I doubt that Anzu probably would take a day off just for that, so I might have to force the store to close.
As I was thinking about this, Fina was preparing a bucket.
âShall I fetch you some water?â (Yuna)
âItâs okay.â (Fina)
Fina said and reached for the bucket.
âEi (water magic)!â (Fina)
At the same time, water filled the bucket.
It was water magic.
Fina then put a cloth into the bucket, wrung it out, and started wiping the floor.
Her magic control was getting better.
I suppose Fina was growing as well.
And if the two of us do the cleaning together, the room would be clean in no time.
For now, I moved the luggage in the bear box to the corner of the hallway.
If they needed anything, it would be a problem for Anzu and the others.
When we finished cleaning and moved downstairs, some guests had already arrived for dinner.
And in the kitchen, there was also Deiga-sanâs figure.
âYuna-chan, have you finished cleaning?â (Petora)
Petora-san spoke to me.
âYes, we are done here. So why is Deiga-san here?â (Yuna)
âUncle Deiga was helping me with the prep work, but then he just started cooking.â (Fina)
I see.
As I thought, he could not hold back from helping them.
I looked into the kitchen.
âDad, youâre in the way.â (Anzu)
âWhat do you mean I am in the way? Are you telling me, your father, that Iâm a bother to you?â (Deiga)
âWell, you are big.â (Anzu)
âAnzu, where is âthatâ?â (Deiga)
âItâs on that shelf.â (Anzu)
They seemed to be arguing, but they also looked like they were having fun.
And since I couldnât keep Fina waiting for their argument to end, I sent her home.
âYuna Onee-chan, you canât be lazing around here all day either, okay? Iâm going home.â (Fina)
Fina left after saying so.
Finaâs mother was strict.
It was my job to make others work hard while I slack off.
As it would be a shame to just leave, we all decided to have dinner at Anzuâs restaurant.
Then, when the store closed, everyone helped to tidy up the place, and the day was over.
âThank you for your hard work.â (Yuna)
âWeâve worked hard!â (Anzu)
âWeâre done.â (Petora)
âItâs over!â (Seno)
Everyone took a seat.
âDinner time!â (Deiga)
Deiga-san made dinner for everyone.
I already ate, so I just watched them.
âItâs been a while since Uncle Deiga cooked for us.â (Seno)
âYeah, itâs delicious.â (Anzu)
âI wonder what it is. Itâs the same dish as Anzu-chanâs, but itâs slightly different.â (Petora)
âEven though they look the same, Deiga-sanâs food tastes slightly better.â (Yuna)
âHmm, maybe itâs because I havenât reached the level of my fatherâs cooking yet.â (Anzu)
Anzu also said this while eating the food.
âIs it the subtle control of the heat or the way the ingredients are stirred?â (Anzu)
âAnzu-chan, itâs the muscles. Uncle Deiga has amazing muscles, so if you train your body, you will also have muscles like Deiga-sanâs.â (Seno)
I imagined Anzu with muscles like Uncle Deigaâ¦
âPfft.â (Yuna)
I couldnât help but laugh when I pictured Anzu with bulging muscles.
âOh, Yuna-san. You were just thinking of something very strange, werenât you?â (Anzu)
âItâs not that weird. I was just imagining Anzu getting muscular like Deiga-san, as Seno-san said.â (Yuna)
When I said that, everyone looked at Deiga-san and then at Anzu. Then they started laughing.
âIt wonât suit you.â (Deiga)
âAnzu-chan with muscles.â (Seno)
âI think Anzu-chan looks good just the way she is.â (Petora)
âYouâre all so mean.â (Anzu)
âWell, cooking is a physical job. I trained Anzu from a young age, but she never got any muscles.â (Deiga)
Indeed, cooking all day was hard work.
And whether muscles were necessary was another matter.
If it werenât for my bear outfit, it would be impossible for me to keep moving all day with my current level of fitness.
Just thinking about the preparations they had to do every day was scary.
In the middle of such a pleasant conversation, Deiga-san dropped a bombshell.
âSpeaking of which, has Anzu found a boyfriend?â (Deiga)
Deiga-san asked everyone with a serious expression.
âOh, Father!â (Anzu)
âDoes Anzu-chan has a boyfriend?â (Yuna)
âI donât know.â (Seno)
âI donât think so.â (Petora)
âIâve never seen her together with a man.â (Seno)
âShe doesnât seem to have any luck with men in any town. Even in Mileela, the men there didnât even approach her.â (Petora)
Could it be that men didnât approach her because Deiga-san was around?
But that wouldnât be a reason why she couldnât find a boyfriend in Crimonia.
âAnzu-chan is so focused on cooking.â (Seno)
âIs that so?â (Deiga)
âSheâs always talking about cooking, and if she sees any rare ingredients, sheâll buy them.â (Seno)
âShe made me taste-test so many things.â (Petora)
âSo you are saying that cooking is her lover?â (Yuna)
When he heard those words, Deiga-san looked at Anzu sadly.
âAnzuâ¦youâd better start learning how to pick a good guy, or youâll be in big trouble.â (Deiga)
âDad, please donât talk about embarrassing things.â (Anzu)
âItâs not embarrassing. Iâm just trying to be a good father.â (Deiga)
âYouâre just meddling.â (Anzu)
Anzu turned her head to the side, looking away.
Deiga-san looked sad.
I wondered if he wanted to see his grandchild soon.
âItâs been a while since youâve seen each other, so donât fight.â (Yuna)
âItâs because my father is saying strange things.â (Anzu)
âAs a father, I just want to see my grandchildrenâ¦â (Deiga)
Ah, I knew it.
âTell that to my brother. He should get a wife and get married.â (Anzu)
âHeâs always out at sea, but when he comes back home, he works behind the scenes.â (Deiga)
That was why I didnât really get to see Anzuâs older brother either.
He might not be as sociable as Anzu.
Even after that, Anzu happily chatted with Deiga-san, despite her complaints.
The next day, when I left the house, Fina was there.
âWeâre going to see Uncle Deiga, right?â (Fina)
Finaâs mother found out about our plans.
All joking aside, when I went to Anzuâs shop with Fina, I saw Anzu chasing Deiga-san away.
âCome on, Dad. The shop will be fine, so go for a walk.â (Anzu)
Anzu pushed Deiga-sanâs back.
âButâ¦â (Deiga)
âYou saw yesterday, too. We donât need your help.â (Anzu)
âWeâre here as well, so donât worry.â (Seno)
âAlright, Iâll leave Anzu-chan in your care.â (Deiga)
Deiga-san, who had been pushed out of the shop, made eye contact with me.
âMissy.â (Deiga)
âDid they kick you out?â (Yuna)
âYou were watching?â (Deiga)
He looked embarrassed.
âAnzu told me to go around the town.â (Deiga)
âSince youâve come all the way to Crimonia, I think it would be nice to take a walk around the town.â (Yuna)
âYeah, I guess so. I guess I will.â (Deiga)
âWell then, weâll show you around.â (Yuna)
Fina and I decided to show Deiga-san around Crimonia.
Deiga-san, who was a chef like Anzu, wanted to see where the ingredients were sold, so we went around the shopping district and market where the shops were lined up.
At lunchtime, we ate bread at the âBearâs Loungeâ.
Then we went to the orphanage.
âUncle Deiga!?â (Neff)
Neff-san, who came from Mileela, looked surprised.
Neff-san now resided at the orphanage and looked after the children there.
âIâve heard a lot about you from Anzu, but you look well.â (Deiga)
âYes, I get my energy from the children every day.â (Neff)
âIâm glad to hear that.â (Deiga)
They both responded with smiles.
Then we headed over to see Tirumina-san, who had just finished her morning work. Tirumina-san often spent her mornings having tea with the director and Liz.
âItâs been a while, Deiga-san.â (Tirumina)
âTirumina-san also. I am grateful for the care you give to my daughter.â (Deiga)
âHaha, Anzu-chan is such a good girl, so itâs not hard work for me, and Iâm grateful for that.â (Tirumina)
âUncle Deiga!â (Shuri)
Shuri came running over.
âOh, itâs been a while since Iâve seen you, too, Shuri. How have you been?â (Deiga)
Deiga-san patted Shuriâs head with his big hand.
âYes, Iâm fine!â (Shuri)
âNext time you come to Mileela, letâs go digging for bamboo shoots.â (Deiga)
âYes!â (Shuri)
We did all went looking for bamboo shoots and digging them before.
Since then, bamboo shoot dishes started appearing on the menu at Deiga-sanâs inn.
After that, we ate at various restaurants with me escorting Deiga-san, to the point that my stomach had reached its limit.
I liked to eat, but I couldnât eat a lot.
Fina was the same, and she looked distressed.
She probably couldnât eat dinner anymore.
âThank you for today, girls.â (Deiga)
âTomorrow, youâll be going around town with Anzu, right?â (Yuna)
After all, it was impossible for me to go on a food tour for two days in a row.
Iâd rather not.
Besides, Iâm sure Anzu would be able to show Deiga-san around from a different perspective than Fina and I.
If it were me, the places I would show him would be very limited to places I go to.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
If someone liked food, I could guide them to a food shop.
If someone liked fashion, I could guide them to a clothes shop.
If someone liked books, I could guide them to a bookstore.
If someone wanted to see the scenery, I could guide them to a place with a spectacular view.
Everyone, however, had their own recommendations for places to visit.
After I parted with Deiga-san, I took Fina home and then went home myself.
And a few days later, Deiga-san returned to Mileela.
This time, we also made a promise to visit Mileela.
