Bear-san, Drawing a Picture
âSo, what do you think we should do?â (Noa)
âIt would be a shame to change clothes straight away.â (Misa)
Noa and Misa said as they looked at their outfits.
True, it would be a shame to change clothes straight away after being given the chance to wear a kimono from the Land of Wa. And they even tied up their hairâ¦
âIf thatâs the case, Yuna-sama, I have a small favor to askâ¦â (Sakura)
Sakura hesitantly asked.
âWell, would you mind drawing a picture for me? I want to remember the clothes that Noa lent me.â (Sakura)
I didnât have a camera with me.
Well, there might be a magic tool with similar functions that I didnât know about.
But the fact remained that it wasnât here right now.
I understood what Sakura wanted, so I replied, âOkay.â
Sakuraâs face broke into a big smile at my words.
âThen, please draw me too!â (Noa)
âI want you to draw me as well.â (Misa)
Noa raised her hand high in the air, and Misa also timidly asked.
âSure, if you are happy with my drawing, I will also draw two of you a picture.â (Yuna)
âIâd love to be a subject of Yuna Onee-samaâs drawing.â (Misa)
It made me happy to hear her say that.
âYuna Onee-chan, me too!â (Shuri)
âIâll draw a picture of Shuri, as well.â (Yuna)
âYes!â (Shuri)
âOf course, Fina too.â (Yuna)
Fina also looked happy at my words.
âBut if I have to draw everyone, it will take a long time, so we wonât be able to go outâ¦â (Yuna)
I turned my attention to Noa and Misa.
This time it was a trip for both of them.
Currently, weâve only stopped by Sakuraâs house to rest. There was still time for us to sight see more.
âThis is one of those memories.â (Sakura)
âI donât want to regret later, thinking that I should have had it drawn.â (Noa)
Well, if that was the case.
âIf itâs for a memory, why donât you draw everyone together?â (Shinobu)
Shinobu, who was listening to our conversation, suggested this.
âAll of us?â (Sakura)
It was true that if everyone was together, it would be like a group photo.
âBut then wonât we need Yuna-sama to draw five copies of the same picture?â (Sakura)
âWe could have someone make copies of it.â (Shinobu)
It should be possible just like the picture books.
âThat works, but only one of them will be the original drawn by Yuna. There might be a fight over it.â (Sakura)
âI donât mind having a copy, so Iâd prefer if everyone is in it together.â (Noa)
âI also prefer everyone to be together.â (Sakura)
Sakura and Noa replied, and Misa and Fina nodded, while Shuri tilted her head.
âIf thatâs what everyone wantsâ¦â (Yuna)
So I would be drawing everyone in one picture together.
âWell then, while Yuna is drawing, Iâm going to go to the castle and get permission from the King for everyone to enter the castle.â (Shinobu)
Shinobu remarked.
âI donât want to waste everyoneâs fun time.â (Shinobu)
âI almost forgot. In that case, I should go tooâ¦â (Sakura)
âSakura-sama, please let Yuna draw a picture of you.â (Shinobu)
âButâ¦â (Sakura)
âIâll be fine on my own. Besides, when Yuna asks for something, even the King wonât refuse.â (Shinobu)
The way she said it sounded like they would do whatever I asked them to.
âIf youâre worried about Shinobu going alone, Iâll go with her.â (Kagali)
âKagali-sama?â (Sakura)
Kagali-sama, who had been sitting quietly and watching us, suggested so.
âCan I leave it to you?â (Sakura)
âItâs been a long time since Iâve seen him, and Iâm afraid heâll get annoyed if I donât show up from time to time. Iâm going to go and see him.â (Kagali)
âThen, Iâll go with you.â (Suzuran)
âNo, Suzuran, you should look after Sakura and the others. If everyone is gone, Sakura will be in trouble.â (Kagali)
Suzuran-san looked at Sakura, then at Noa and the others, and finally at Kagali-san.
âI understand. Shinobu-san, please take care of Kagali-sama.â (Suzuran)
âLeave it to me!â (Shinobu)
Shinobu and Kagali-san left the room.
We who remained in the room prepared for the drawing.
âSakura, youâre in the middle.â (Noa)
âAre you sure?â (Sakura)
âYes, of course.â (Noa)
Then they decided which position they would like to take.
Suzuran-san brought chairs and everyone sat down on them.
From the left, Shuri, Fina, Sakura, Noa and Misa were seated.
I prepared to draw with a piece of paper on the side.
âItâs a pity that Yuna-san will not be in the drawing, but it canât be helped.â (Sakura)
âWell, Iâll be the one drawing. Iâll start now, so donât move too much.â (Yuna)
Everyone was sitting there, staring at me.
I felt like I was being watched, and it made me a little uncomfortable.
âIf you get tired, just let me know. Weâll take a break.â (Yuna)
Sitting in the same pose for a long time may be tiring, so there would be no problem if they took a break and moved around for a bit. And so, I started drawing.
âYuna-san, you are good at drawing.â (Suzuran)
Suzuran-san, who had been watching from behind, let out her thoughts on my drawing.
âThank you.â (Yuna)
Suzuran-san commented as she watched me saying, âItâs wonderfulâ, âYouâre drawing more and more,â âIt looks just like Sakura-samaâ, âThe other girls as wellâ.
Suzuran-san provided a sort of live commentary every time I moved my drawing tool.
âSuzuran, you mustnât disturb Yuna-sama.â (Sakura)
âIâm sorry.â (Suzuran)
Suzuran-san took a step back after Sakura warned her.
Then, after some time, while I was drawing and showing the progress to everyone occasionally, Shinobu and Kagali-san came back.
âIâm back.â (Shinobu)
âIâm tired.â (Kagali)
âWelcome back.â (Sakura)
Sakura replied to the two.
âKagali-sama looks tired.â (Sakura)
âSou almost didnât let me come back.â (Kagali)
âI also couldnât come back earlier either because of that situation.â (Shinobu)
It appears that permission to enter the castle was granted immediately.
According to Shinobu, she simply said, âYuna brought her friends. They are asking whether it is possible to see inside the castle.â and was given a âSure,â immediately.
After that, they talked a little about us and Kagali-san, and finally came back.
âHe must have been happy to see Kagali-sama for the first time in a long time.â (Sakura)
âIf he wants to see me, he can simply visit me at my house.â (Kagali)
âNo, he canât go to see you easily because of his job and position.â (Sakura)
âHe used to skip work a lot. How serious has he become?â (Kagali)
Well, it was His Majesty, the King, and I didnât think it was easy for him to leave his work and go somewhere.
When one was in that position, one had to behave in a manner befitting that position.
So I always believe that.
It was not a great position to be in.
It was just more responsibility, more work, less freedom and more trouble.
In novels and manga, the protagonists who were sent to another world aimed to become a great King or a noble Lord thinking that it was a great position. However, if it were me, I would never aim for that.
Iâd want to escape from being a princess or a young lady of nobility, participating in parties and wearing dresses.
Noa and the others were living in that kind of noble society, right?
Maybe they were just suffering in a way that I didnât know about.
But it might be nice to use power, run the economy, be the ruler behind the scenes and take it easy.
âYuna-san, youâre making a wicked face.â (Noa)
Oops, it looked like what I was thinking was showing on my face.
I pinched my cheeks to loosen my face.
I hated the hassle, but I thought it might be a bit of fun.
The picture was completed after a certain amount of time.
âIâm done~!â (Yuna)
âFinally finished, huh?â (Kagali)
Kagali-san yawned, and Sakura and the others gathered around me.
âYuna-san, you can be a great painter.â (Sakura)
âYour work is like that of a real artist.â (Noa)
âYou canât distinguish it from the real thing.â (Misa)
Thatâs too much praise.
Professionals paint every day to keep their skills up. There was a world of difference between me, who only paints occasionally, and them.
âIâll ask them to make a copy of this later.â (Shinobu)
Shinobu carefully placed my drawing in a wooden box and put it in her item box.
âExcuse me, Yuna-san.â (Suzuran)
As I stood up to stretch, Suzuran-san called out to me.
âWhat is it?â (Yuna)
âIf itâs not too much trouble, could I ask you to draw one more picture for me? (Suzuran)
âA second drawing? Do you want me to draw Suzuran-san?â (Yuna)
âNo, not of me, but of Kagali-sama.â (Suzuran)
âMe?â (Kagali)
âI will do what I can to repay you.â (Suzuran)
I looked at Suzuran-san and then at Kagali-san.
Suzuran-san had been taking care of Kagali-san for a long time. So I assumed that she probably wanted the picture of Kagali-san because of her work and as a keepsake.
âIf you donât mind my drawing.â (Yuna)
âI havenât given you permission yet.â (Kagali)n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âIn any case, I will draw you and Suzuran-san together.â (Yuna)
âOh, thank you!â (Suzuran)
âI said, I havenât given you permission!â (Kagali)
No one listened to Kagali-sanâs words.
âWhy should Iâ¦â (Kagali)
Kagali-san complained, but still modeled for us.
Two chairs were arranged and Kagali-san and Suzuran-san sat down on them.
âKagali-san, donât make such a sulky face.â (Yuna)
âKagali-sama, I apologize for making you do this for me.â (Suzuran)
âIâm always indebted to you, so itâs fine.â (Kagali)
âThen, smile.â (Yuna)
âMy face is always like this.â (Kagali)
I never noticed Kagali-san ever smiling at all.
She was always drinking.
âKagali-sama, youâd be cute if you smiled.â (Suzuran)
I agree with that, but Kagali-san had a rather mystical image.
She was a demon fox, but she also used to look like an adult, so even in her current childlike body, she still had an adult demeanor.
So I drew Kagali-san in such a mystical way.
Suzuran-san was drawn to look like a motherly figure looking after Kagali-san.
âYuna-sama, youâre excellent at drawing.â (Sakura)
âI also want to see Kagali-sama in a picture!â (Shinobu)
And soon enough, Kagali-san and Suzuran-sanâs picture was also completed.
