Chapter 15
I enjoyed my victory for approximately 2 seconds before Lucas took action.
It all happened in seconds. Lucas lifted up his hand, and a uncapped water bottle was in his hand.
All he did was look at it, and all the water inside the bottle was on me.
Of course, after that I couldn't let him have the last laugh, so I did it to him again, and he did it to me until we were on a full on water fight.
After a couple of minutes of trying to talk us out of it, Jason swore and sprayed both of us at the same time.
We spent the rest of the afternoon using our magic to pour water on each other.
It was a win-win for me. I got to make them soaking wet, while I got to practice using telekinesis.
However, my practice got cut short when Danielle â Jason's mom â walked in the the middle of me spilling a bucket full of water on Lucas.
She was obviously furious, but we thankfully had something up our sleeve to clean up our mess.
Magic, clearly.
Once we've all tired ourselves out, Jason went upstairs to clean himself up for dinner while Lucas left without a word.
Just as I was gonna leave, Danielle gave me an invitation to their dinner tonight, and me being me who doesn't want to see her father, agreed.
I went home to change and came back in 30 minutes to see Jason setting up the table, and his mother cooking a small portion of pasta for 4 people.
The rest of the night went smoothly, and then Thursday came by.
At lunch, it was Lucas's first time joining us in the classroom at lunch, and let's just say, he was more annoying than useful.
How, you say?
Starting with the fact that if I even missed the can by 10 centimeters, I would become the laughing stock of the century.
On Friday, I begged Jason to let me cuss Lucas out of the room, but of course he didn't budge.
Plus, he was videoing the whole time, saying that he has to record this moment so when he's sad, he can look at my failure and it will brighten up his day.
Asshole.
Thankfully I didn't embarrass myself as much, not including the... very strong words I called Lucas when he was recording me.
After school, I told Anna and Lauren that they should go together to the party because I would be occupied with Jason at his house before hand.
They hesitated before agreeing, knowing this will be the first time we went to the party separately, but to make them both feel better, I told them that I'd find them right away.
Once they got more comfortable with the idea, I walked to Jason's car to see Lucas leaning against it.
"Why, the fuck are you here, spawn devil?" I groan, and he laughs dryly.
"Well isn't it obvious? I'm clearly in love with you and am planning to make my move," he grins, and I just narrow my eyes.
"Why do you exist?" I state boldly, and he crosses his arms.
"Because I was God's favorite, duh," he smirks, and I raise my eyebrows.
"You know, if you're such a know-it-all, maybe you should know when to shut the fuck up," I smile politely, and his egotistical look disappears into a look of annoyance.
He opens his mouth to speak but gets interrupted. "How do I already know you both are fighting by not even having to listen to the conversation?" Jason says from the other side of the car.
Before I can reply, he tilts his head to the car. "Both of you. Get in."
I move to open the passenger door, but Lucas blocks my way. I raise my eyebrows as he opens the door for himself, but before he gets in, I slip in from under his arm and go inside the car.
"Mother fucker," he growls, and shuts the passenger door for me.
When he opens the back door I look over my shoulder and grin. "What a gentleman you are!"
He glares at me, and then looks outside, pouting like a little baby.
How cute.
â¡
We got to Jason's house soon after, and we spent quite a bit of time practicing magic â with Lucas actually helping for once.
By 5.00pm we were all tired, and had some time to kill before we had to go to Brianna's party, so I recommended that we watch The Exorcist, the 1973 version.
Jason somehow managed to find it on cable, so we all took a seat on one couch. Jason on the far left side, Lucas in the middle, and me on the right.
Sitting beside Lucas left me tense for a short while, but after getting more into the movie, I made myself more comfortable on the couch.
The next thing I remember, is lying down on a hard surface with my eyes shut as something, or rather someone is yelling in the background.
I move my head on the hard surface so I can get more comfortable, but freeze when I remember who's sitting beside me.
Am... I lying on Lucas's lap?
I flutter my eyes open and ignore the TV that is currently still playing the movie.
I look down slowly and groan internally when I am, indeed on his lap.
Something tightens on my hip, and I finally pay attention to the hand that's resting on my hip.
Why, God why is this happening to me?
I turn my head so I'm facing up. When I see Lucas's gaze still on the TV, I slowly get up from my position.
"I-I'm sorry Lucas," I chuckle under my breath. "I didn't mean to fall asleep on you."
He slowly looks at me, and nods barely.
"Okay," I mumble under my breath before standing up to go to the bathroom.
When I'm in the bathroom upstairs, I lean against the door, and suddenly began feeling butterflies in my chest when I remember my predicament downstairs.
Those fuckers are still there? I thought I killed them all in the fifth grade.
Shoving all the thoughts of him away, I wash my hands and face before I go back downstairs to face him again.
"Em, go to your place and get ready, we have to leave in 30 minutes," Jason says as he stands up from his position on the couch when he sees me on the last stair.
I look at the TV screen and see that it's shut off. "Did the movie finish?" I ask, and he nods as he turns me around and pushes my back until we're in front of the door.
"Yes. Now please don't make us wait a decade," he pleads before opening the door for me.
I take a step outside, and turn around to give him a thumbs up. "You can count on me."
He snorts, and shuts the door.
Hey! I'm not that bad.
I'm about to knock on the door to give him crap, but grimace when I remember how much times I had to make him wait for me.
Never mind.
â¡
I'm dressed in black jeans and a white t-shirt quickly once I'm in my bedroom.
I reapplied deodorant, and perfume, and also decided to put on mascara and some lipstick.
I had no time to straighten my hair, so I let it down in natural waves.
I slid my feet into my running shoes, and made my way to Jason's house 4 minutes before the deadline.
"Shocking, you're here before the party ended!" Jason shouts happily from the living room once I'm inside the house.
"Oh shush, I'm not that bad," I laugh as I'm walking to the couch.
He snorts, again. "Okay Em."
I look beside him, and find Lucas fascinated on whatever he's doing on his phone. "New girlfriend I assume?" I wiggle my eyebrows, and Lucas looks up from his phone to glare at me.
Once his eyes are locked on his screen again, Jason stands up. "Em, Mateo is gonna pick me up before we go to the party because we have some shit to do, so Luke is gonna take you to Brianna's house," Jason says gleefully, most likely happy that me and Lucas will be in the same place without any exist.
After 6 years, he still roots for me and Lucas to rekindle our friendship.
Pathetic.
I tightly smile, and nod. "Got it."
"Stand up Scott," I say, looking down at him.
He grudgingly turned off his phone, and without saying anything, he grabs Jason's car keys from his hand and walks outside.
"Okay... I guess we're leaving then," I grumble under my breath as I make sure my phone is in my back pocket.
Once I'm in Jason's car, Lucas immediately reverses from the driveway.
"Jesus, did you learn to use the speed limit when taking your tests?" I ask when I see he's going 20 above the maximum speed limit.
"Relax Princess. We're on an empty road," he says dryly, and I just glare at him.
"I guess switching from Adam, back to Jason hasn't done anything good," I cross my arms, and suddenly begin to remember what happened at the mall.
"What were you both arguing about when you were in the mall anyways?" I ask, and he gives me a nasty look in the corner of his eye.
"None of your business Princess, now shut it," he says lowly, and me not wanting to interrupt the hibernating bear, decides to leave it be.
For now, at least.
In 10 minutes, we find parking on Brianna's busy street.
And by parking, I mean Lucas going up to some poor man's house and stating that he's gonna park his car on his driveway.
I would feel bad for the man, but Lucas gave him money towards the end â he tried to make sure I didn't see it by blocking my view, but I couldn't miss the cash he was handing him.
It made me smile on the inside a little.
Once we're inside her house, I come to the quickest conclusion that everything in the household is white.
White floors, walls, decoration, table, counter, couches... you name it.
We both get inside her house at the same time. I'm about to make my way to the living room to look for the girls, but Lucas suddenly wraps his arm around my waist and guides me to the kitchen instead.
He tightens his grip on me, which I don't think he did on purpose, because once he did it, he released my waist so fast it was as if I burned him.
I was about to complain, but stop short when I see Anna and Lauren taking shots of some alcoholic drink.
"I would ask what that was about but... my girls need their drinking body!" I shout over my shoulder as I'm making my way to the girls.
"Cherry flavored vodka? You both know me so well," I swipe away an imaginary tear when I see an unopened bottle of my favorite alcoholic drink.
"Damn right we do!" Anna slaps my butt playfully and she narrows her eyes.
"Did you do butt implants or something?" I widen my eyes at Anna's question as Lauren laughs.
I begin stuttering like a crazy person. "W-what? N-no! That's crazy of you to think so," I defend, and she nods her head, still not believing.
As they're both taking their shots, I poke my butt, and furrow my eyebrows.
I think she's already drunk.
â¡
In the middle of mine and Lauren's loud argument about who hates shopping more, someone puts their arm around my shoulder.
I grimace, and without looking at the person, I remove their hand from my shoulder and give it a hard twist.
"Jesus Christ Emma!" Adam shouts.
I widen my eyes and drop his arm. "I'm so, so sorry. If you haven't noticed, I'm pretty... paranoid is the word, I guess."
He rubs his arm, and laughs. "I can see that."
"Ah there you are Adam! I thought you'd never show up," Brianna says, coming up to the both of us with her posse following from behind her.
"Here. This is my dad's good stuff," she grins, winking at me as she hands both of us a shot of alcohol I didn't notice she was holding before.
"Um, thanks Brianna," I smile politely, and she smirks before walking away.
Once she's gone, I begin smelling the drink. "What the hell are you doing?" Adam asks me in the middle of my sniffing.
"Just making sure," I pout my lips, shrugging.
Adam laughs, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Cheers," he says before he drowns the glass.
I bite my lip before I drink the burning alcohol.
Ugh, I hate scotch.
â¡
I was dancing with Adam for 20 minutes to Sorry by Justin Bieber when I suddenly begin gagging.
"Sunshine you okay?" Adam asks, but I cover my month to prevent from throwing up.
"Emma?" He looks at my face and must have saw something because the next thing I know, he's taking me to the bathroom.
Once the toilet is in view, I rush to it, and open my mouth, letting all the food ate this afternoon leave my body.
Adam pulls my hair back and shushes me. "Are you better now?" He asks and I shake my head vigorously.
He lifts me up slightly, and moves me so I'm leaning against the wall with my head risen up.
"I'm gonna go get you a glass of water okay? Don't move," he cups my cheek, and when I nod slowly, he quickly rushes out of the bathroom, shutting the door closed from behind him.
As the minutes pass by while I'm waiting for him, sweat begins forming next to my brow, and my breathing quickens.
"Oh God, what's going on?" I ask myself.
"Damn, you're pathetic, weak Princess," a taunting voice says from across the room.
"Lucas?" I squint my eyes, and find him sitting on top of the closed toilet lid.
"You're a sad excuse of a human being. Why do you think I stopped being friends with you? I was embarrassed of you!" He shouts loudly as he laughs, and I cringe.
"No... you weren't," I say in between breaths, and he laughs again.
"You are an embarrassment. That's why your dad didn't talk to you when you left. That's why Jason stopped speaking to you. That's why your sister and mom died. They wanted to be rid of you."
"No!" I cry out, shutting my eyes closed tightly.
"No..." I whisper more to myself.
"This isn't real. This isn't real. I'm drugged. That's it," I open my eyes, but my whole vision is blurry.
I squint, trying to focus on the toilet seat to see if anyone's still there â thankfully there isn't.
I shut my eyes closed, and take calm breaths to prevent myself from throwing up again.
Suddenly the bathroom door opens. "Adam, did you get the water?" I groan, still keeping my eyes closed.
"No," I hear him say as he picks me up bridal style.
He holds me until we're still upstairs, and finds an unoccupied bedroom. "I'm surprised Brianna's letting me sleep in a room," I grunt when he lies me down on the bed.
Adam stays silent for a little bit, until suddenly he starts dragging a finger up my covered leg and stops half way up my thigh.
"Adam... what are you doing?" I ask hesitantly, and when I feel him spreading my legs apart so he can stand in between them, red alarms inside me start going crazy.
"Who... who is this?" I try shutting my legs, but he holds them down.
No. This is not happening to me.
I pull my knee back from his grip, and I kick him as hard as I can â which isn't hard at all.
"You bitch," the man growls right before jumping on top of me, holding my hands back, and keeping my legs separated.
"No," I groan, shutting my eyes tighter when he holds both my hands with one of his own, and using the other to expose my stomach.
I try tapping into telekinesis to do something, anything, but the drug he or someone must have given me must have deactivated it for a short period of time.
He raises my shirt higher and I use as much strength as I can to push him off but I hardly do anything.
He leans down to kiss my neck, and I hold my tears.
Please, Someone. Help.
â¡
My poor Emma :( I hurt her here, and hurt Mason too.
Do you think she will be saved â and if yes, by who?
Who do you think is the mysterious guy?
