Prologue
"You're such a little shit face Lucas," I yell at him. This is probably our fourth argument. Since we left the school 2 hours ago.
"Why are you yelling at me! It's not my fault your boobs stole my shrimp!" Lucas, aka the little dipshit replied.
"You put it in there, you- you dick!" A couple silent seconds pass, before Lucas begins laughing and patting his knee. What a fucking cowboy.
"A dick? Why princess, would you like to see it?" A smirk growing on his ugly face. Hot face, really hot face. No!
"There you guys are. Jeez I could hear you guys yelling in the ballroom," Jason, my best friend finally takes in my appearance, and groans, "What happened now?"
At the same second, Lucas and I begin spitting to Jason ours truths. Well mine is the truth, Lucas just has bullshit flowing out of his mouth.
"Okay! Okay, Emma what happened?" Jason asks. I quickly turn to Lucas and give him a nasty smile before responding.
"I was at the buffet with Anna, and Lauren and this- this shit eating mushroom put the shrimp that was on the table, in my fucking dress. Jason, you said the graduation dinner would be fun. News flash, it's been quite a bust," I say. Jason had hopes Lucas and I would mend our "friendship" that died in grade 5, but alas, that has not happened.
Jason is about to reply because a sound goes off. Checking my pocket, I realize my phone is ringing.
Turning around, I check the caller ID and see my sister, Jessica's name on the screen.
Accepting, I bring the phone to my ear, "Hey Jess what's going on?"
The only response I receive is faint yelling in the background, then a door being shut until my sisters breathless voice booms through the phone, "E-Emma, you need to come back. Ask Jason's mom to bring you. Things are getting bad. Dad's throwing things."
Shit.
"Okay Jess, I'll ask him. I'll see you soon," I hang up the phone and turn towards Jason, "When did your mom say she was picking you up?" I ask.
Jason checks his phone, "About 5 more minutes, what's up Em?"
I rub my forehead in frustration, "Can you ask your mom if it's okay if I carpool with you guys? I need to get home."
He immediately nods, "I don't even have to ask, she'll obviously take you home, we live right beside each other you know?" He gives me a lazy smile. I roll my eyes, thankful he's lightening the mood, "Thanks for the reminder."
Just then I look at Lucas and realize he's giving me a knowing smirk, "Well won't you look at that? We're gonna be backseat buddies babe."
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, "Um... what?"
He rolls his eyes, making it seem like my question is stupid, "I'm sleeping over at Jason's, meaning I'm getting a ride with you. Possibly with you riding me too," Just as those words leave his mouth, I punch him in the stomach.
"Get your mind out of the gutter, Lucas. You're gonna end up with many possible HIV's in the future Jesus," I mumble, as he groans.
Next thing we hear is a honk outside, and I quickly leave the boys to say bye to my friends inside. Once I'm back outside, Jason's in the passenger seat, and Lucas is leaning on the car right beside the open back door, probably waiting for me.
I step in front of Lucas, and am about to go in until his body covers the entrance, "Ah, ah, ah Emma. You must give me a kiss from those sweet lips of yours to enter your carriage ride."
I simply kiss my hand, and smack his face, the shock is evident on his face, but I honestly don't care at the moment, I need to get home.
I push him aside, and step into the car, "Hi Mrs. Valentine!"
Jason's mom turns from her seat and give me an award winning smile, "Hi honey! How was the dance? Were the boys behaving?" Just as she asks the last question, she glares at me, unable to hide her smile, "And how much times do I have to tell you to call me Daniella?"
I blush in embarrassment just as Lucas gets in the car, "Sorry Daniella."
I turn to face Lucas, and see he's rubbing his check where I just slapped, I give him a nasty smile and lean in to whisper in his ear, "How was the kiss honey? Sweet enough for you?" I pull back a little and make eye contact with his glaring eyes before leaning back and laughing quietly under my breath.

I get inside the house right as Jessica runs down the stairs, "Thank God. Pack your stuff, now. We're leaving."
I look at my older sister with wide eyes, "Leaving like all of us?"
She shakes her head frantically and grabs my hand taking me upstairs, "No, just us. We have to go," I look around the house, and I don't hear the one thing that was happening when I was on the phone with her 10 minutes ago, the yelling.
Once we reach my room I ask, "Where's mom and dad?" Just as I ask that, she drops down to the ground, and lies her head on my mattress, "Mom's in her room packing, and dad left somewhere. Mom thinks we're going with her, but we can't, not after what-"
"Emma? Honey are you home?" My mom interrupts her. I look at Jessica, and yell back that I am.
Less than a second later, mom is in front of my room, "Good you're packing. We're leaving tomorrow morning. I know this is last minute, but my sister said she has space for us for as long as we need to find a place," My mom finishes her rant, breathlessly, while I look at her in shock.
"Mom what's going on? Where are we going?" I ask, which my mom replies to by giving me a small smile, "Your father and I... We're getting a divorce. And to answer your other question, we are going to live with my sister in Vancouver."
I stare at her in shock. Divorce? My parents were one of the happiest couples I've ever seen. They have never argued, they had the same taste in everything... How could they just randomly decide to get a divorce?
Jessica glares at mom, "You have to tell her the truth, how could-"
Mom gives Jessica the nastiest look I've ever seen on her face, causing some wrinkles I never knew she had, to appear, "Jessica. Outside. Now."
My mom leaves my room, and Jessica groans and gets up to follow her, before turning back to me and mouths pack.
Once they're both gone, my tears start flowing. I reach for my phone, and open up Jasons contact. I look outside the window to see if his room lights are on. Once I see the light shining out of the closed blinds, I hit call, and wait for him to answer.
"Em? What's up?" I try to sound normal, and control my tears, but the next few words make it sound like I'm a dying velociraptor.
"I.. My parents... Divorce.... Leaving... Vancouver.."I sob into the phone. I wait for his response, but once I look at my tear soaked phone, I realize he hung up.
Next thing I know, the door bell rings, and I jump out of my bed.
Opening the door, I get crushed by someone, and am about to pull them off before I realize it's Jason.
I wrap my arms around his waist, and put my head on his shoulder. He tightens his hold on me and lets me cry on his shoulder.
"Shush... Everything's okay. I'm here."
