Chapter 2
It has been 3 days, and I still haven't spoken to both Jason, and Lucas. What did I expect? Jason apologizing and forcing me to socialize with Lucas again? Obviously not.
It's finally Friday, and I have 8 hours to go until the weekend officially begins, and wearing onesies take over.
I jump out of bed 10 minutes after my alarm rings, and quickly get ready. I settle with a grey t-shirt with comfy black shorts. As I'm adjusting my strap from my bag from the kitchen, there's a knock on the door.
I'm about to shout that I'll get it, before I realize my dad let 5 minutes prior.
Jogging to the door, I open it, and look wide eyed at the person in front of me. I finally come to my senses a second later and shut the door on him. Hopefully hurting him in the process.
Just as I'm about to turn around, he starts to knock repeatedly, "Come on Emma, we need to talk," he says behind the door.
I grit my teeth, and open the door slightly, giving him the fakest smile I could muster, "You're right Jason, but I'm so busy right now. Maybe I could schedule you in close to never?" I slam the door straight after.
Walking back to the kitchen, I check phone. School starts in 10 minutes and it's a 20 minute walk. Dammit.
I rush to the basket in the center of the island, and grab a banana. Following that, I open the cupboard, and take a bottle of water. Through all of that, I'm cursing at myself for not saving up for a car.
Once I lock the door to my house, I turn around and see Jason leaning against his car on his elbows, looking straight at me, I raise my eyebrows, "Can I help you with something?"
He pushes himself off the car, and walks until he's right in front of me. He tilts his head to the side, and gives me a small pout, "Let me drive you," he mumbles silently, but loud enough for me to hear.
I look at him in shock, and laugh in his face, "Me? Go in a car with you? And end up being charged for murder in the end? Nah I'm good," I slap his arm, a little to hard to be considered playfully, and smile at him, "Bye!"
As I'm about to turn around, I feel his grip on my wrist. Looking back up, I see him using his puppy eyes on me. Oh crap.
"Come on. We both know you hate being late because it's awkward. If you drive with me, you'll even have enough time to go to your locker," He says positively.
He's right, of course. Being late means coming into a silent class with everybody looking at you, and I'm not exactly cheering for people to pay attention to me. I think about it for a moment. The drive is easily a 2 minute drive. I could simply pretend to text someone.
I look back up at him, and clench my jaw, "Fine, but no talking," you win this round Jason.
Once I walk across the lawn to meet his black BMW 528i, Jason rushes to my side and opens my door.
He smiles at me which would normally make a girl swoon at his feet, but luckily, I'm not affected by him, or Lucas's devious ways.
I smile back at him, and me being petty as I am, I shut the door, and open it myself.
Once I close the door, I glance outside, and see him rubbing his temples.
He jogs to the other side of the car, and once he's seated, he buckles his seat beat and reverses out of his driveway.
Just as I'm about to pull out my phone, I hear him say, "I'm sorry, Emma."
I stare at him blankly, waiting for him to elaborate.
"I-I know you're upset with me, and I'm sorry that I stopped speaking to you, I-I just thought I could protect you," he says as he's rubbing his forehead.
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, "Protect me? How in any way were you protecting me?" I continue, raising my voice, "Were you protecting me when I was calling you from the hospital after the accident? Were you there for me at all? No. Because you were clearly too cool to even be talking to me, right?" My voice cracks in the end, and I hope he doesn't catch it. Stupid feelings. I quickly put my head down and hope he doesn't see my eyes betray me.
I shake my head, chuckling sadly, "Please. Tell me how you were protecting me," and he responds by shaking his head, "I-I can't Emma."
I finally look back up, and nod my head slowly, "Got it."
I see we're parked at school, and I quickly unbuckle my seat belt, "Thanks for the ride," I say before I close the door.
Once I clime the stairs, I look for my locker, only to see two people making out- no, eating each others faces out. A girl, is pressed up against my locker, and the guy is lifting up her leg, holding her one leg up at a 90 degree angle.
Jesus Christ. Vancouver wasn't nearly this bad when it came to PDA.
I catch giggling coming from beside me, and spot two girls looking at the happy couple. Who even giggles?
One seems to be really giddy, and excited from the scene in front of her, while the other one rolls her eyes.
Oh my God. No way.
I finally click two and two together. The girl on the locker. She's cliche popular girl. And thing one and two are her minions. And boy toy over there is probably the guy she's territorial about.
Dammit.
I would leave, and not deal with any of the drama coming to me, but I need my Math textbook. Yesterday this guy forgot to bring it, and Mrs. Carlton gave him a pile of math sheets to complete. I'm not down for that.
I decide to just go for it. I cough mildly, which doesn't work obviously, and cough a little louder. The girl, removes her lips from the guy, and he kisses her neck.
She opens her eyes, and and raises her eyebrows. I give her an awkward smile and point to the locker she's currently up against.
She gently slaps the guys shoulder, and mummers, "Luke, stop. Let's go somewhere more private."
I look at the guys back, wide eyed. He turns to look at me, a glare sharp on his face, but once we make eye contact, the look that would make any girl, or man run, turns into a smirk.
He lets go of her thigh, and turns back to her, "Find a room. I'll meet you there," he says, speaking monotone.
She smirks, and traces her finger on his bicep. She looks at the girls and nods her head towards the direction I came from.
As she's passing me, she gives me a confused look, but doesn't say anything.
Huh. I was wrong.
Lucas is still against my locker, and I roll my eyes. I walk in front of him, and smile at him. I stick my arm out, and touch his arm. He looks shocked for a second from my gentle touch, but regains himself when I push him out of my way.
As I'm putting in the code, his annoyance button, suddenly turns on, "So princess. How you doin'?"
I open my locker, and quickly take out my textbook. Once I shut my locker, I turn towards him, "Don't mock Joey Tribbiani, Lucas. He's better than you in more ways than one."
I turn to leave, walking to my first period class, until I hear a quiet chuckle beside me, "Oh baby, you crack me up," he says as he catches up to me.
I turn towards him quickly, and give him a tight smile, "Then my jobs done," I decide to finish the conversation, and jog into the hall where my class is.
Of course, him always having to have the last word, follows me, "You job is never done, babe. Which is why I'll be here to annoy you for all of eternity."
I stop suddenly, and turn my body until I face him completely. I look up at him, confusion written all over my face, "Why Lucas? Before you annoyed me because you had to be around me because of Jason," I lift my hand up in exaggeration, "If you haven't noticed, We aren't friends anymore, so why not just leave me alone?"
He stares at me blankly, before looking away, "It was never about Jason, Emma."
At that, Lucas walks away, his fists clenched so hard I think he's actually drawing blood.
I stare at the spot Lucas was just standing in confusion. Never about Jason? Then what was it about?
The second bell rings and I widen my eyes. I rush to class, and see the teacher still isn't here. As I'm about to take my seat, Mrs. Carlton enters, "Sorry everyone, traffic was really bad going south-"
Suddenly a light tapping is being targeted on my right shoulder. Turning my head slowly, I see Jason give me a lazy grin, "Hey."
I give a awkward smile in return, "Hi..." I turn back around and face Mrs. Carlton. She's still talking about how traffic could all be avoided if the roads would have two lanes for each side, not one.
"Pst. Emma." I hear behind me. I silently groan, and wonder what on earth he could want.
Turning around I smile tightly, "What Jason?"
Clearly not noticing my annoyance, he rest his chin on his palm, and tilts his head to the side, "How was Vancouver? Learn anything new there? Got any new talents? No, having 22 marshmallows in your mouth doesn't count."
I look at him confused, "What's with the sudden interest, huh Jason?"
His response was a quiet chuckle, "I'm still not used to you calling me name."
I raise my eyebrows at that. He doesn't want me calling him the other names that are swarming in my head. "Well... If you'd like I can call you something else. But I can't promise it will be nice," I smile brightly.
"Mr. Valentine and Ms. Sullivan! Is my lesson getting in the way of your conversation?"
"No-" I begin before Jason cuts me off.
"Yes."
I turn to glare at him, and turn to face Mrs. Carlton, "I'm sorry miss, it won't happen again."

Once class is finally over Lauren and I head to our English class. Anna then meets us right in front of our class when it's finished, and we all begin to head to the cafe.
"He-he's unbelievable! He can't keep his hands to himself, and-and... Ugh!" Lauren says as we're walking. I haven't seen her this frustrated at the opposite gender in a really long time. She always makes sure they don't get the upper hand.
But clearly not with Dylan.
Anna, trying to lighten the mood, pokes her cheek, "Oh Lauren! Sounds like someone has feeeeelingssss."
Instantly, Lauren grabs Anna's finger and throws it down before stomping into the cafeteria like her mom just said no to buy chocolate at the grocery store.
Then there was two.
Anna stares wide eyed, clearly surprised at her attitude, "No babe you know I was joking!" She then runs after her.
Then there was one.
Just as I'm about to open the doors to the cafeteria, I hear quiet mumbling in the corner.
Turning around, I spot a girl looking from side to side, probably looking for someone. Taking a closer look, I realize she was one who was giggling at Lucas's make out session with the other girl.
The girl then makes eye contact with me and my eyes widen. I take slow backward steps towards the door, and turn around when I think I'm close enough and walk fast.
"Hey wait!" She calls. I internally groan, obviously expecting to have some sort of human interaction that doesn't include Lauren and Anna.
I give her a friendly smile, and raise an eyebrow, "Yeah?"
She turns to the cafeteria doors and asks, "Have you seen Jason Valentine? I can't find him anywhere, and I know you both have the first two periods together."
My eyes widen slightly. How does she know I'm in his class? Either she found out his schedule and looked in his classrooms and spotted me, or she's a spy who has all of his classmates ID's and is out to get him. I'll go with option one.
I clearly have a look of disgust on my face because she then reacts as if I offended her mother, "What's wrong with Jason? He's better than whoever you'll ever go out with you-you-"
I raise my hand up to stop her from completing that sentence, "If the next word is going to even be mildly offensive, I will clock you. Don't call me a bitch, whore, slut or whatever name you're about to say about me. You know nothing. Okay?" I smile and pat her shoulder, her eyes still widened by my small speech.
I spot Anna, and Lauren closer to the windows and smile. I see an extra tray on the table, untouched. Walking up to them Lauren smiles softly. I guess everything is okay with Dylan?
I sit down and look at my food. Mac and cheese.
I look up and give them a sad look, "Thanks for buying me food guys but you really didn't have too. You bought be food this week already," I begin to pull out my wallet before Anna's hand stops me.
"No, it's fine. You always bought us food, and snacks when we went out. Plus, what are friends for, right?"
I smile and thank anyone up there for my friends.
Lauren then looks up from her phone, a frown taking up her face, "I can't hang out today, I'm sorry. My mom and dad decided to have a date night after 7 years, leaving me to babysit my brother."
I shake my head, and give her a small smile, "Don't worry about it. Can you do tomorrow then?"
She nods, and so does Anna.
I raise my hand, "High School Musical Marathon is a go then!"
We all high five and laugh... Well, me and Anna laugh. Lauren just roles her eyes with a hint of a smile on her lips. As much as Lauren denies it though, I know she likes the movies.
Once Anna and I say goodbye to Lauren, we leave the cafeteria. But not before I catch Lucas and Jason staring at me from the center table.

Of course, Lucas once again manages to find me during fitness as I'm running around the field. It took all my strength not to push him on the road when I was nearing it.
My teacher eventually saw him. Who wouldn't? He's built twice my size, or any other girls size. She kicked him off the field and shouted that if she ever saw him flirting with his-this is the worst part- girlfriend, during her class, she'd send him to the office.
his response was a simple chuckle, and a wink sent to me.
I simply put my finger down my throat to imitate me vomiting.
Class ends soon after, and Anna and I go ahead to change.
We separate ways at the same spot as we previously have been doing, and I head to class.
And just my luck...
When I get into my Chemistry classroom, the one and only Lucas Scott is leaning on my desk. Oh why God, why?
I stop in front of him and give him a tight smile, "Can you get your butt off my seat?"
He gives me a mischievous smile and shrugs, "I'm not on your seat princess," and I immediately glare at him.
"Okay, remove yourself from my personal space, you're unwanted, Scott," which he chuckles to. What is so funny?
He turns his body so he's facing the whole class, and raises both of his hands, "Who thinks I'm unwanted?" He shouts to the class.
Suddenly, a bunch of girls in the class begin yelling their responses.
"You're always wanted in my bed!"
"Come over here and I'll show how wanted you are baby."
"I love you Lucas!"
I roll my eyes. Why are girls immediately in love with guys who are assholes? This is giving guys the wrong idea that the only way to get a girl, is to be rude. By the time this generation needs to find someone to marry and start a life with, we are all going to be fucked because there won't a nice guy around.
I shake my head, and glare at him, "You can't help yourself can you? You know you're loved but trust me, they don't love you, they love the fact that you're bad. And... A girl always wants a bad boy to be good for her. So don't flatter yourself."
He looks at me, and closes off all emotions. He begins stepping forward until we have little space between us. The class suddenly becomes quiet.
Tilting his head to the side, he narrows his eyes trying to study me, "How about you Emma?" He brings his lips right next to my ear and whispers, "Do you want me to be good for you?"
He brings his head slightly back, and we make eye contact. What game is he playing at?
I chuckle, and weakly push him away, "You-you're the most confusing person I've ever met."
His response is his classic smirk, and he's about to say something before my teacher's voice bounces off the walls, "Lucas! Emma! Why aren't you in your seats? Just because I was a little late doesn't mean free time. Now, sit!"
I jump up, from shock, and sit down in my seat.
I look at the spot Lucas was just standing, but he isn't there anymore. Turning my head slightly, I see he's seated at his desk already, looking at me intensely.

Once class finished, I left the school right away and started my journey home. It's Friday, and I don't want to spend anymore time in that school than I already do.
I unlock the door, and head to the kitchen, seeing a note on the table.
Emma, I'm going to work late tonight. Don't wait up for me. -Dad
I'm not surprised, he's been working later than usual, and tells me through notes. Probably because he doesn't have to suffer creating a conversation on the phone or on messages. At least this way, no communication is given except for the one thing he wanted to tell me.
Shaking my head, I begin to wonder where everything went wrong. We were close before we left. Jessica, my dad and I went to the park every Sunday, and when Jessica became to cool to go to the park with her younger sister and dad, it was just us. Everyday, before we would go home, we would buy ice-cream, which my mom wasn't really a fan of because it was right before dinner.
But, right before we left, I was crying on his shoulder asking what went wrong and all he told me was that he loved me.
Trying to push past my tears, I climbed up the stairs.
Deciding I needed a shower, I peeled my clothes off, and jumped in the hot water.
20 minutes later, I'm walking downstairs in my bunny onesie, planning on making hot chocolate before I binge watch every episode of Stranger Things on Netflix... Again.
As I'm putting mini marshmallows in the glass cup, a knock at the door interrupts me. I check the time on the wall and see it's only 6.00 pm. Walking to the door, I swing in open and spot a nervous looking Jason on my front porch.
I raise my eyebrows, and Jason takes that as an invitation to come inside. I'm abut to comment, before he begins rambling, "Listen, I know you're mad at me for not being there for you. I hate myself for not calling you after I heard about the accident, but I thought I would make it worse," he starts pacing back and forth, gripping his hair.
I frown and look down at me feet, "You left me. Our lifelong friendship. For what? Just tell me," I ask desperately. I just need to know the truth.
He only shakes his head, "I-I can't. Just trust me when I say it could put you in danger," he starts rubbing his temples.
I look at him in shock, "What are we in? A dramatic movie? Why is is dangerous, huh Jason? You're just making excuses. Avoiding the actual truth that the reason why you left me was because you became popular," I sneer the last word.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. Once I've calmed down, I look up at him, "If you can't tell me the truth, I don't think I can forgive you, Jason."
He chuckles sadly, which causes me to see the pain in his eyes, "You always said forgiveness is key to a happy life."
I clenched my jaw and looked away, "Well I always forgave people and look where it got me."

Second chapter, DONE.
My flight to Miami is in 12 hours (currently 2.30 am) but I had to finish this chapter.
I know some of you probably think Emma's being a little over dramatic, but try imagining the whole situation in her shoes.
Please let me know what you think in the comments! Who's your favorite character so far?
I love you guys, see you in the next chapter!
