Chapter 6

It took me 5 seconds to regret coming to their party once I've entered Jason's house.

Thank God I'm his neighbor, so I didn't have to find parking because my whole street is filled with cars, not to mention the dozens of people in front of his lawn.

Just as we're walking up the porch steps, I suddenly hear wolf noises. "Emma Sullivan, what a surprise!"

Standing right beside of the front door is Mateo Velez, one of Jason's old friends from camp.

I give him a friendly smile, and once I'm near the door he pulls me in for a hug.

Me, being the uncomfortable person I am, awkwardly pats him in the back and gently pushes him away.

"I haven't seen you in a while Sullivan, what's new?" Mateo asks with a friendly grin.

Oh you have no idea.

I casually shrug and send a small smile his way. "Not much. Hey, I need to get inside, but I'll catch up with you later, okay?"

He nods, and ruffles my head before letting me go.

Once we've all stepped foot in the house, Jasmine grabs my arm and turns me around. "Who's that smoking hot cappuccino?" She asks, wiggling her eyebrows.

Anna purses her lips, and nods in agreement. "Yeah, I haven't heard you talk about him before."

I shrug nonchalantly, and begin looking around the room. "He was a friend of Jason's back in camp, I think the summer going into grade 5."

Jasmine nods, and looks around the room as well. "Uh, hey I see a friend of mine. I'm gonna go say hey, I'll meet you in a little while okay?" She asks, giving me a friendly smile.

We all nod, and watch her walk off to some guy I've never seen before. Maybe he's new like me?

Lauren suddenly groans, bring mine and Anna's attention to her. "I want to drink. If I'm gonna wear a skirt, I'm gonna need something to help me forget it."

She then grasps onto both of our wrists and drags us to the kitchen.

Once we've made it to the mother load, I start looking around the room again. A few moments later, a shot glass is in front of both Anna and Lauren.

Anna's reaction resembles an afraid puppy, however Lauren seems to be demonstrating a tiger, ready to pounce on her pray.

Before they start drinking I quickly interrupt their moment. "Hey guys, I'm gonna go look around for Jason, alright?"

Without looking at me, Lauren shoos me. "Go find lover boy."

I raise my hands in surrender and begin making my way out of the kitchen. In the corner of my eye I spot Dylan, who's staring at Lauren. I quickly put my head down so he can't see the smirk on my face.

Looks like your lover boy found you.

Once I've checked the whole first floor, I begin making my way up the stairs, and spot a sign that says, No Hooking Up In Bedrooms!

Like that'll stop them.

I walk past the sign, and walk to Jason's room, where I assume he's hiding.

Once I've opened the door, I'm enveloped in complete darkness. Just as I'm about to leave, I begin to her moaning. Coming from his bed.

Waiting for my eyes to adjust to the darkness, I squint my eyes and immediately recognize Lucas on top of another person.

I would not be surprised if Lucas and Jason were hooking up right now.

Doubting my thoughts, I look under his body and spot Brianna. I think that was her name at least.

I widen my eyes, and quickly, but quietly reverse my steps. Once I've shut the door, I realize a deep breath I've been holding.

I begin making my ways to the stairs to continue my search for Jason, however I'm stopped by the sounds of groaning behind me.

At first, I thought I was hearing the noises from Jason's bedroom, but it would have been muffled.

Turning around, I look at the scene in front of me with my mouth wide open with no shame.

I mumble a small wow to myself, however by the Jason stops dry humping himself from the unknown girl must have meant he heard me.

He turns to face me, shock evident on his face. He whispers my name, and releases his grip from the girl.

Tilting my head to the side, I try to hide my disappointed look by smiling. "You know, I expected this from Lucas, but really? Dry humping a girl where any one could see?"

I look behind me, and back at Jason. I shake my head softly and walk down the stairs.

Walking past the drunks in the living room, I make my way back to the kitchen, only to find Carly from Calculus talking to Anna.

Furrowing my eyebrows, I look across the room, trying to find a blonde head.

I come to a stop when I find her against the fridge. Looking to the hovering body in front of her, I quickly connect the dots.

Dylan is whispering something into her ear, and she shivers. She tries hiding his effect on her by simply glaring at him, however she cannot fool me.

Dylan begins making his way down again, this time to her lips and I stand there, not knowing what to do.

Although Lauren hates to admit it, she likes him. But she's not ready to admit it to herself so maybe she'll need this kiss?

I widen my eyes and immediately shake my head.

No. Nope. She will kick him in the crouch right away, and cause a scene.

Sliding past through the people in my way, I make it up to them in less than 5 seconds.

I grab onto Lauren's wrist, and push her towards me. "I need a drink!"

As I'm dragging her from behind me, I hear her shaken breath from behind me, and I instantly know pushing her away from him was a good thing.

Lauren picks up a closed bottle of cherry flavored vodka from the counter, and rinses out two shot glasses.

She begins pouring a shot for both of us, and Anna joins asking for one too.

Once we've all got a glass, we clink our cups together and drink.

♡

An hour later, and many shots of cherry flavored vodka later, I'm resting on the couch.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm drunk, but I tend to be really happy, and sort of dizzy when I'm tipsy.

I rest my head on the couch cushion and look for Anna and Lauren. Who I then spot dances on tables.

I frown, and look down at my phone in my hands. I wish I brought my kindle.

"Why the sad face?" Someone says. I look up and spot the same guy Jasmine was talking to from before.

Still having the frown, I shrug and look back down. "I want to read but my friends said it would be lame to bring my kindle. It wouldn't be lame! It- it would be cool!"

Suddenly, a giggle erupts from me. I sound like a child.

Looking up into his really blue eyes, I grin. "Hi, I'm Emma."

He sends me a smile, with a little dimple peaking out. "Adam Lockheart. Just transferred to Berkley."

"So many new people this year!" I pat on the empty seat beside me, and wiggle my eyebrows. "Come sit. I don't bite. Sometimes..."

Adam laughs, but takes the seat nonetheless.

Resting my head on top of both of my hands, I tilt my head to the side, and give him a curious smile. "So Adam Lockheart, where you from?"

"New York. This place is a lot more... Quieter than there."

I point to my head, than aim it at him. "Ah, yes. You New Yorker's are quiet loud aren't you?" I grin.

"Some might say," he sends me a smile back.

I touch his shoulder, and furrow my eyebrows, bringing my head closer to his. "You remind me of someone."

He scrunches his nose, and shakes his head. "No, I don't think so Emma."

He begins to peel of my hand off his shoulder, but me clearly not being in my right mind, decides to squeeze his muscle.

I start to giggle more, and then start full blown laughing.

"It's like a squishy toy! Small - then big!" I add in between my giggles.

Once I'm all laughed out I rest my head on his shoulder and poke his cheek. "You have like... No face fat. How..."

After he's chuckled at my statement, he looks down, and slowly leans his head in.

Uncoftorable on where this is going, I don't move.

Suddenly, he's off of me.

I jump up and sit properly, just as Jason is shoving Adam to Lucas, who then shoves Adam against the wall.

Lucas seems to be whispering something that Adam doesn't like because he starts clenching his jaw, and all of his pretty features tighten.

Enough of this.

Standing up, I walk to get in between Lucas and Adam.

I stare at Lucas, and send him the meanest glare I could muster. "What on earth do you think you're doing?" I ask.

Lucas, who never stands down from a glare-off, clenches his jaw. "You're intoxicated, Emma. You're not in your right mind to be making decisions."

I raise my eyebrows in shock. He cares about my decisions now, does he?

Grabbing Adam's hand, I rise it up for Lucas to see. "That's my decision to make Lucas."

At that, I drag him out of the living room and up the stairs until I reach the guest room.

Cracking the door open, I',m immediately shocked that no one is making babies on this bed.

Pushing him inside, I let go of his hand and closes the door. Also locking it to piss off Lucas even more.

Turning around to face Adam, he grabs my waist right away and lowers himself.

I gently push him away, and start rubbing my forehead. "Sorry if I'm leading you on right now, but I just need them to think we're doing something."

Adam is about to reply until a sharp bang rings throughout the room. Glancing at the door, I smirk and face that directed and cross my arms.

"Open the door Emma,"I hear Lucas growl.

Deciding to play with fire, I giggle. "Oh, Adam. Don't do that."

Lucas shouts my name one last time and bangs on the door. After a couple of seconds, everything is silent, until suddenly the bedroom door swings open, with a furious Lucas coming my way.

He grabs my wrist and pushes me so I'm behind him. He growls at Adam, which begins to make me giggle. He's like dog, who's angry at someone for taking the thing he likes away.

"I would recommend to go, before some very bad things will happen," he snarls. Looking over Lucas's shoulder, I spot Adam smirking, then taking steps towards the door.

Just as he's about to leave, he turns around and winks at me. "See you later, Emma."

Once he's gone, Lucas turns turns around and glares at me. "What were you thinking?"

"What was I thinking? Who do you think you are?" I shout. Deciding not to argue with him for the a millionth time, I storm out of the room. Just as I reach downstairs, I spot Jasmine, Anna, and Carly dancing in the center of the living room.

I look around the rest of the living room to see if I can spot Lauren. Once I can't seem to spot her, I decide to look for Dylan.

I search the whole first floor, and become a little frightened. Is Dylan taking advantage of her?

Rushing back upstairs, I begin my search for f-boy number three.

Once I'm at the top of the stairs, I immediately spot Dylan's dark brown hair.

Paying attention more closely, I spot Lauren against the wall with her legs around his waist as they're kissing.

I groan. Everyone is hooking up today, it's too much.

I decide to head into the guest room once again, and sit down on the bed.

Why did I even come here?

Oh yeah, Lauren threatened me.

Suddenly, voices are being heard coming from down the hall.

Recognizing Lucas's voice, I rush into the closet to avoid talking to him.

Just as I close the door, the guest room door is opened.

"Have you seen her?" I immediately recognize Jason's voice.

"No Jas. I told you, ever since I kicked Adam out, I haven't seen her," irritation is evident in his voice.

"Well where could she be? Do you think she left with him?" Jason asks.

"I... I don't think she's that stupid. Honestly Jason, I think we should just tell her," Lucas admits.

Again... What don't I know?

"No, not an option," Jason deadpans.

"Well why not? She deserves the right to know Jas."

"What am I gonna say, Lucas? Hey Emma, I don't know if your mom finally told you, but hey! You're a witch! Yeah, they're real. She won't believe it Lucas."

What.

The.

Fuck.
