Amelia, Tyler and Marco went on a drive to explore the markets near the outskirts of the city where their resort was, while Bella slept in her room and Jack had a little spa day to himself.
Amelia and Tyler decided to see for the old heritage shops of the village while Marco looked for signal on his phone. Amelia found a vintage silver necklace for herself while Tyler though lucky of himself to get his hands on an artifact. They searched the place to find more similar stuff, but when they couldn't they decided to go back. It was almost lunch time and they were sure the other two would be ready by now to start the day.
On the way back they decided to stop at the little coffee shop they had noticed earlier. Tyler parked the car on the little space in front of the shop which almost touched the main road. Amelia got off the passenger's seat while Marco asked them to get him his order in the car itself.
Tyler placed the orders as Amelia sat on a table waiting for their orders to be prepared.
She loved the fragrance of the freshly brewed coffee that filled the coffee shop air. She looked over to the other tables. On one of them sat a women who might be in her mid 30's , with her laptop, typing something in it, while on the table to her left sat a couple who were probably on their second date. She loved to look at people, to notice their sweet little actions, and that was what she was doing right now.
"Is this seat taken", she looked up to find the similar set of hazel brown eyes she had met in the morning.
"Hey, what are you doing here?", she said surprised to find Shawn in the coffee shop.
"Well, I like it here", he said as he took the seat opposite to that of Amelia's.
Shawn couldn't take his eyes off Amelia. He admired her chocolate brown eyes, and her light brown hair, which was left open to both her sides, the tangles of her hair complementing her perfect face cut. Amelia looked at him, as he was roaming his eyes on her face. It wasn't anything that would make her feel uncomfortable. He wasn't looking at her lips or anything. She could feel the decency with with he looked at her. And when she looked into his eyes, trying to find any signs of lust, as she had read in so, so many novels, she was surprised to find none. All she saw was happiness, and admiration for her. She could eel his hazel eyes light up every time he looked at her. And she couldn't help but notice it this time, confirming her gut feeling.
"What?", Amelia said in a low tone as he still couldn't get enough of her.
Shawn opened his mouth to say something but closed it the very next second. Amelia smiled at him, and raised her head signalling him to continue with whatever he wanted to say. Shawn chuckled as he pressed the tip of his nose with his thumb and index finger trying to hide the embarrassed laugh now that he was caught red handed staring at her. Amelia narrowed her eyes at him as she giggled. Shawn finally decided to speak.
"Nothing", he said in response to her "What", while shrugging his shoulders and raising his right hand in submission.
Tyler picked the cartoon tray which carried the 5 cups of coffee.
He turned around only to see a man's back towards him on the same table as that of Amelia.
He went closer only to be surprised to his friend on the same table.
"Shawn", Tyler said as he smiled slightly.
"Hey, Ty how have you been?", Shawn said as he rose from his seat only to shake hands with his friend and to hug him next in a man hug.
The two guys looked at a confused Amelia next who was now standing as well.
"How do you two know each other?", Tyler asked moving his eyes from Shawn to Amelia.
"We met at the resort", Shawn said immediately before Amelia could even think of opening her mouth.
"Ahhhh that explains it", Tyler said as he looked at his feet thinking something.
"That", Shawn raised her eyebrow at him," explains what exactly" he asked.
"Nothing", Tyler looked back up at Shawn and smiled.
"We know each other since 4 years now", Tyler said pointing his finger at Shawn looking at Amelia.
"Ohhh business stuff I suppose?", she asked.
"Kind of", Shawn said.
"Jack called", Tyler said looking at Amelia.
"He must be waiting", she remembered.
They looked at Shawn next.
"I was leaving as well", he said giving them his best smile.
Shawn held the door open for the lady. Amelia smiled at his sweet gesture. Tyler noticed the sudden change in Shawn's behaviour for the first time in 4 years.
He was sweet and decent and well behaved before as well, but never as sweet and gentle as he would be around his best friend.
"Ty?", Shawn said for the third time putting a hand on Tyler's shoulder, shaking him a bit, dragging him out of the zone he was currently in.
"What?", Tyler asked as he looked at them.
"I was saying I'll met you in the evening in the resort", Shawn said.
"Yup text me", he said.
And the three of them said their goodbyes.
Shawn's eyes lingered a little longer on Amelia before he turned around to go to his car which mind you was a matte black Audi R8 Sypder.
Marco who was still busy on his phone, possibly snap chatting his boys still had his eyes on glued to the screen of the magic box.
Tyler moved to the drivers seat as Amelia sat on the passengers seat and they drove back to the resort.
The matter black car was right behind them as Tyler and Amelia would notice after every few seconds.
They entered the gates of the resort and expected another car to do the same but that never happened.
Shawn would probably be busy with some work is what Tyler old Amy as they moved towards the villa.
Marco was ahead of them this time, happy to have finally received some network.
They reached the villa to find a much relaxed Bella on the couch who for a change greeted them with a smile.
"Good afternoon my sunshines", she said.
"Dude what happened to you?@, Marco said placing a hand on her forehead to see what caused the sudden change in her always annoyed mood.
She hit him playfully on his chest.
"A few hours at the spa can do that to anyone", Jack said from the other end of the lounge.
They placed the coffee tray on the centre table as all of then sat around on the couch to watch television.
"I got you these", Amelia said giving Bella a pair of silver earring she had bought at the heritage shop in the market.
"Thanks Amy", she said placing the gift on the couch beside her after looking at them.
"You don't like these", Amelia asked in disappointment.
"No Amy, I love them, it's just that they aren't from Tiffany's so", she said being as polite as she wanted to sound.
Amelia felt hurt to have listened to that. She looked back at the television when she looked at Tyler. He looked intensely in her eyes and closed his eyes for a second trying to comfort her. Slightly smiling at him she rose from the couch and excused herself to go to her room.
She opened the curtains of her room to let the 4 p.m. sun shine in her room. Opening the door to the balcony she stepped out and looked at the sight in front of her.
That is what she just needed to forget and the forgive. She looked at the valleys and the mountains, the little houses that were spread out on the hills, with red coloured roofs, and terrace farms beside them. On those terrace farms she could spot a few women and men, walking, while some just sat basking in the evening sun, as the rays of the sun were still warm on her cheek. She felt warm on the outside of her body while her heart felt the warmth of the view in front of her.
"Hey", he heard someone call her. She looked down from the balcony only to see Shawn there.
He had his camera in his hand this time.
"What are you doing here?", she asked.
"They say", he looked at her and smiled," Never miss a good shot"he paused for a second, and continued again raising his camera in the air for her to notice, "Do you mind?", he asked.
Amelia didn't say anything. She just smiled at his words and nodded.
He clicked her photograph and removed the camera from his face, not moving his gaze away from her.
He could notice a few lines on her forehead . She had been thinking something he knew the instant he looked at her before, but now her quietness confirmed his doubt.
"What?", she asked as he didn't moved his gaze still from her.
He moved his head slowly side to side as he walked away from the lawn in the direction to his own villa, " meet you in the evening", he said before disappearing behind the villa.
"Evening? What was in the evening?", she thought to herself as she moved back inside her room and closed the sliding door behind her locking it.
She moved towards the bed next and laid on her back resting for a few minutes before she heard the knock on the bedroom door.
"Amy", Tyler callee for her as he opened the door only to find her relaxing on the soft mattress. He laid down next to her such that both had their feet hanging down from the opposite sides of the bed, while their head were right next to each other in the opposite directions.
"I got you a sandwich", Tyler said with no enthusiasm.
"Which sandwich?", Amelia said with the same energy level that Tyler had.
"A double cheese tomato sandwich", he said as he placed the plate of sandwich which was on top of his flat stomach next to him on the bed right above Amelia head.
Amelia registered Tyler's words and got off the bed in an instant. "Ohhhhhhhhhh", she exclaimed as she took the sandwich in her hand and relished the very first bite of it kneeling down on the bed now.
Tyler got up and placed his back on the back of the bed right next the Amelia's as he smiled on being able to make his friend smile.
"And she finally smiles", Jack said as he entered the room through the open door.
"Wow this is delicious", Amelia said taking another big bite of the sandwich.
Jack raised the collar of his shirt listening the Amelia. Tyler looked at him and cleared his throat.
"Find you made it", Jack said lowering the collars back to their original place.
Amelia smiled at their little chit chat as she offered them the sandwich. The two of them took two extra large bites and Amelia are the rest of what was left.
The sandwich actually made her day and she couldn't stop smiling now.
Tyler smiled as he thought about the little things that could bring happiness on Amelia's face. A sandwich. That's all. Who says you need to built a castle to impress a girl? The girl sitting right next to him couldn't stop smiling after having a simple tomato sandwich.
Tyler admired the love of his life Jack and his best friend Amelia as the two sat in front of them looking out of the window, discussing about the latest political issue.
Jack loved talking to Amelia about thing, from politics to fashion magazines, from business to journalism, the girl knew it all and so did he.
Amelia was thankful to the both of them for lighting her day with their presence. What she was thankful for was also the little meeting she had with Shawn a few minutes ago.
She had no idea why, but every time Shawn would be around her, she felt happy, like something nice would happen with her. She felt the thrill and the warmth. She was confused at the alway she felt around him, because it was so different than the one she would feel around Tyler or Jack or even Marco.
She was smiling thinking about him when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
She looked in front of her to see Jack who had a raised eyebrow at her.
"Nothing", she said as she got off the couch and went near the bed post to drink water from the bottle of water.
"Don't think much", Tyler said.
"About?", she asked in between drinking water.
"Shawn", he said playfully.
Amelia choked on water listening to that. She couldn't breath for a few minutes feeling sore in the throat due to the shock chocking as jack moved next to her in an instant rubbing the back of her neck. She sat down on the bed side and tried to calm herself.
"What?", she looked at Tyler as she spoke in a muffled voice between coughing due to the soreness.
"I was kidding, Jeez", Tyler said laughing at her.
"Who is Shawn?", Jack asked.
"Shawn Whitman", Tyler said.
"Ohh the Womaniser", Jack said as he moved back to the couch he was sitting earlier on near the window.
Amelia looked at both of them. Was he a womaniser? She thought to herself analysing every talk that she had with him till now.
"Don't think much", Tyler said again.
Amelia looked at him. How did he know she thinking about him?
"I'm not thinking about him", she said in defence.
"I never said you were", Tyler said and raised an eyebrow at her.
She glared at him giving him a last warning.
"Fine", he said throwing his hands up in the air showing his defeat.
"I meant Bella, don't think much about her", he said.
"She has a loud mouth, doesn't think before she speaks", Jack said comforting her.
Amelia knew that. She knew Bella was clear at heart. That is what kept her close to Bella even when she acted all annoying.
She took a heavy breath and looked at them.
"Right?", Jack asked and Amelia nodded.
