A bright light emitting from my monitor, I could turn it down if I wanted to but I need to perfect this scene.
Putting my arm over the other, pulling it back.
Stretching and yawning at the same time, I looked up at the ceiling before yawning again before letting go of my arms and smacked my lips.
Seeing the 2 empty cups of coffee on my desk alongside a half opened bag of a snack which I don't even know the name of, I don't even think I got it before.
Leaning into my chair, grabbing my phone off the table.
Opening it and seeing the time.
Y/N - two...... two thirty seven?
Oh I've been here a long time, I'm pretty sure I started at like 6 yesterday night.
Putting my phone down screen first on the table.
I wonder about this job.
It's been uhm-

Almost a year now?
Since I came here to JYPe.
I mean, it sounded great at first.
You know I get paid well, I don't listen to Kpop at all since I rather dip my toes into different territory but I'm sort of liking it now since all I do is listen to the new song while editing their music videos or stuff like that.
I'm pretty sure they called me first and said they needed a new editor since their usual in-house guy retired for personal reasons, family or something like that.
They've been following my work that I've done online and the time I worked for another company which was completely opposite to what I'm doing now.
I did films, well. Short films mainly, a few tv shows here and there, sometimes comedy variety shows, Dramas, and rarely a full length film but I had to work with a group.
But it ain't so bad, chucking down energy drinks or coffees late into the night working on them, getting it down to perfection.
Trying to adhere towards the director's concept for the video.
Nowadays, I just edit for their content.
Mainly for this one group and one group only.

Wincing at how loud she was, annoyed by her loud voice.
Y/N - yeoboseyo.
Speaking to her in a low, disgruntled tone.
? - you're a bit grumpy aren't you?
Y/N - it's two o'clock in the morning.
? - so? I'm still practising.
Y/N - hey, you're not the one having to look at a bright screen for 6 hours.
? - okay fine. I'm just checking up on you. Hmph.
Hearing her voice pout on the phone, I rubbed my eyes, sighing.
Y/N - Miahne. Thanks for calling at least.
? - oh. So now you're sorry?
Y/N - why are you acting like we're close, you're my employer.
? - we're colleagues, technically.
Y/N - close enough, just because we're on the same floor and I work on your stuff.
? - heheheh, wanna go out to eat? I'm hungry.
Y/N - ain't it late?
? - I'm not coming in till later today so we can kill time. Hang out.
Y/N - you only hang out with me inside the editor's room.
? - because we don't have any other editors, you're the only one and I mean THE only one on our floor, in our department, for MY group.
Y/N - surprising for a company that's made millions and yet they hired one person for editing.
? - maybe because you're really talented? You ever thought about that?
Y/N - no, you're a bit more talented than I am.
? - just because I'm an idol? You're the one who has the guts to stay up till even 6 in the morning just to make sure our music videos or content looks and sounds cool.
Y/N - thank you but remember, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you or your group.
? - Why do you keep saying 'your group' ? We have a name you know.
Y/N - come to my room and tell me your name again.
? - way ahead of you.
*knock knock*
Looking at the door, I can see her shadow peeking through the window.
Her face now smushed against it as she waves.
Waving back at her, I hung up the call and got out of my seat.
Grabbing the door handle and opening it. Revealing her in all of her supposed glory she usually says.
? - hello!
Y/N - hi.
? - such a sad hi.
Y/N - I'm tired.
? - I know. So, what's our name then?
Y/N - what?
? - group name.
Sighing out loud, she was clearly egging me on, poking me in the stomach continuously.

Y/N - I already see it enough while I'm editing
? - only at the credits or whatever, just say it oppa
Y/N - no.

She suddenly sang it out loud, covering my ears since my ears hurt from wearing my earphones the entire time.
Y/N - okay okay, jeez.
Mumbling it to myself, I sort of forgot at the moment since my brain isn't really working right now.
? - hm? What was that?
Y/N - Nmixx....*sighs*
Putting up some finger guns, she had a big smirk on her face before breaking into a full smile, showing her shiny teeth at me.
? - oh yeah
Y/N - Oh Haewon please stop annoying me.
Hae - ani, you like it when I come by to annoy you.
Y/N - no I don't.
Laughing out loud, it's also been a year since I met my closest and sort of annoying friend, Oh Haewon.
She's the leader of the group I've been editing their content for this entire time.
I didn't know who they were at first, they debuted about 2 years ago now?
From what I remember, I hope I'm right.
Anyways, meeting her on the first day was sort of odd.
You don't usually have people like her on the higher level side of the company considering they're the money makers talking with normal staff like me but,
I don't know.
Apparently she was attracted to me like a moth to a flame.
Not in any way romantic of course but, sort of a different friendship compared to her members.
And now, a year later.
She's just as annoying and somewhat bearable now.
Well, she's not that annoying but considering how late I work into the morning, it's pretty irritable to someone who's stuck to a screen most of the time with constant headaches and trying to stay awake.
Looking over my shoulder, she whistled before looking at me
Hae - busy night?
Y/N - always is. You?
Hae - not really, guess you're not really having fun when it's our content huh?
Y/N - it's always yours, I'm YOUR editor.
Hae - hehe that's right. At least we don't have another comeback till next year.
Y/N - it's good for the most part, you know it took me long time to edit 'Dash' and 'See that' for you and your performance videos too.
Hae - you did the trailers too remember?
Y/N - yeah yeah and the teasers, and you kept me up the whole time since you wanted to lounge around here.
Hae - hey, I was bored. Can you blame me? I didn't want to practise, especially when Kyujin and Jiwoo were busy trying to cause havoc in the practice room.
Y/N - and you wonder why Lily reads in the room beside me all the time
Hae - deserves her peace and quiet.
Y/N - now, are you here to collect me or stay in this room with me?
Hae - collect, literally just told you I wanna go eat.
Y/N - fine. Then come in while I grab my stuff then.
Hae - yes!
Moving to the side, letting her in. closing the door, I turned around to walk along with her before changing course to my seat, sitting down and saving the project.
Hearing a plop on the couch, she's settled down like usual.
Hae - how's it going though?
Y/N - what? Me or?
Hae - both.
Y/N - I'm alright for the most part. But it's almost done.
Hae - ahhh, I just remembered. Remember when you used to edit my episodes of Workdol?
Y/N - you mean all of them?
Hae - the only time their studio let someone else take over their work, shows how good you are.
Y/N - I had to skim through Shuhua's episodes to see what it was like, fair to say I picked it up pretty well.
Hae - it's not that complicated right? Editing out parts, transitions and all that techy stuff.
Y/N - well, shouldn't you know those techy parts too? You're Gen Z after all
Hae - so are you. Did you even check your phone too? I sent you some memes
Y/N - no, I haven't. Later though.
Hae - awwww come on, now? Please?
Y/N - don't beg me, I'm too tired to deal with all of that- whatever you always do.
Sighing, looking at my screen as the program finally closes after saving everything. I hear her getting up, probably to annoy me.
Spinning around in my chair fully to face her, we meet face to face where she accidentally kisses me on the cheek, surprising the both of us.
Y/N - okay, now what are you doing?
Taken aback, she stepped back a bit, covering her mouth and her eyes wide open in shock and surprise but yet, silently laughing.
Hae - Miahne! I tho-
Y/N - I know. I'm not overreacting over it Haewon-ah.
Hae - It's a big deal you know!
Y/N - not for me it isn't right now.
Getting up from my chair, turning back around to my desk. I continued on grabbing my hard drive, mouse, et cetera but oddly enough, it got quiet but little mumbles from her were still coherent.
Y/N - are you still thinking about it?
Hae - no!
Y/N - relax. That's the tamest thing you could do.
Hae - it's not tame!
Y/N - yeah yeah.
Stuffing them all into my satchel, and with everything all packed up and stored away. I put it on and faced her, putting on my baseball cap.
Y/N - come on, let's go
Pointing with my head to the door, she was still utterly speechless but I'm too tired to care so I went on first going to the door
Hae - Y- YAH! Wait for me!
Y/N - I'm gonna lock you in here if you don't hurry up
Going out first outside, she turned off the lights for me and joined me in the hallway where I closed up the door.
Hae - so why do you get your own office and also editing room again?
Y/N - because I do good at my job, don't you guys get your own practice room?
Hae - not really.
Y/N - oh yeah, right.
Hae - I still accidentally kissed you, you know.
Y/N - it wasn't a kiss on the lips, relax I said.

Looking at her after closing the door, she looked up to the ceiling, making a joking thinking face while putting her finger on her chin, tapping on it.
Hae - a year?
Y/N - almost a year, it's been 11 months now.
Hae - right, it's almost Christmas
Y/N - so, don't worry about it. I ain't reporting you to HR
Hae - that would be horrible press for me and the group.
Y/N - I know, and we're buds.

I gave her a high five, making her forget about what had happened a minute ago.

Walking down the halls, it was mostly dim since it was the early morning after all. Anyone crazy enough to stay was you were either an idol getting some late practice in or an employee getting put to work.
Though, I consider myself a 3rd option. Doing it so I can get a vacation after it's all over.
Her usual cheery happy self, somewhat confuses me sometimes. Considering it is early morning, she's got a whole lot of energy despite being an introvert.
But eh, it'll calm down eventually. She probably drank coffee or is happy over something.
Hae - lalala we get to go eat!
Y/N - why couldn't you ask any other person to eat with you?
Hae - they're all at the dorm! You know I had to stay behind to record some stuff here!

Sighing loudly, she pats my back. Making me look at her, giving a thumbs up to my face

The both of us took the elevator down where going outside of the building, we see someone waiting for something

The person looks at us, a hood over their head and not really a facemask in sight. But given they were in clothes more casual than normal, just late night practice I guess.

Taking out my phone while we were walking, we stood by a nearby place where we could hang out for a bit as she waited for me.
Scrolling through my phone, she popped her nosy self into the mix, checking in with me

Looking for the nearest place near us, I finally stumbled upon one. Just a few blocks up

With her excitement on full blast, I suddenly came with a thought in my head.
I need to get presents this year.

I looked into it to see how many notes I had left.

Mumbling to myself, Haewon looked at me. Seeing my wallet in hand.
Hae - hm? Don't have enough for it?

Hae - ohhhhh, right it's almost Christmas. You gonna get a present for her?
Y/N - yeah. She's at an age where she'll start remembering these things you know.

Going to my car, I unlocked it. The both of us putting on our seatbelts and I started the car, driving out and waving to Ji-woo once more before we were on the road

We both walked inside of the apartment, heading up to the floor together with quiet steps not to wake up the neighbours

Y/N - yeah, you go ahead first. I'm gonna check the fridge to see what to make for breakfast for us later

Watching her walk to my room, she was probably gonna grab her clothes and head into the bathroom.
Walking to the bathroom, I put my satchel on the kitchen counter, opening the fridge and checking what I've got while whispering to myself

After checking, closing the fridge door. I see Haewon walking up to me with her clothes in hand

Y/N - yeah, medicine cabinet.

Nodding at her, she walked away as I headed into my room, grabbing my satchel on the way there.
Changing out of my clothes, I stored away everything from my satchel on to my desk because I gotta change hard drives again since the one I used today was acting weird, but I'll do it tomorrow before I leave for work again.
Putting on my t-shirt, hearing a noise from behind me.
I looked behind to see Haewon already changed
Hae - where do I put this?
Pointing at my chair, I walked over to the door
Y/N - I'll be back, just gonna brush my teeth and say goodnight

Going out, I went into the bathroom, brushed my teeth and said goodnight to the girls in the other bedroom.
Who were still asleep, but still said it nonetheless.
Back in my room, closing the door softly.
Haewon was already in bed, but was browsing through her phone.

Walking to my bed, going inside of the sheets, I joined her except my head was already on the pillow facing the other way.
But I quickly lifted myself to take off my glasses, rubbing my eyes as I put them on the nightstand

Y/N - cool, I'm actually feeling sort of restless right now. So I'll stay up with you.

Facing her, lifting myself and putting my back against the headboard. She put her phone away and looked at me

Moving a bit in the bed, she puts her head on my chest where I just looked at the ceiling, tucking herself more with the blanket over her.

Looking down at her, she nods. Her cheeks squished up against my chest

Hae - we're all here most of the time

Hae - until it's time to tour, okay right. I get it.

Smirking, she laughed to herself softly whereas I just looked at her, poker faced.

She pouts, putting her fingers together using her puppy eyes

She laughs once more, getting close to my chest before looking out the window where small droplets of rain hit against it before eventually turning bigger and louder
Hae - is it raining?
Without looking at the window, I nodded softly
Y/N - yeah.
Hae - you know, we talked about this before. But what was it like after she left?
Y/N - you mean my ex girlfriend?
Hae - yeah. I've never dated anyone before so I want to know what it felt like
Y/N - it's different you know. Both sides have different perspectives. She just didn't feel ready at all to stay with me, and I understood that. It hurt a lot, I mean- you couldn't blame her but, I was just as scared.
Hae - do you blame yourself for it?
Y/N - not at all. I do a little but, if it wasn't for that I wouldn't considered thinking of doing editing to get the money we needed to live

Y/N - you know why, I moved here so I could be closer to work

Looking over to the nightstand, tapping on my phone screen to see the time before turning back to her
Y/N - three forty nine
Hae - oh, it's only been a while then since we ate

Hae - yeah.
Y/N - well, what should we do to pass the time?
Hae - I really don't want to get up.
Y/N - me neither. You got any idea then?
Hae - talking seems to help

Hae - actually, it came to my mind all of a sudden

Hae - I've never had a boyfriend right?

Hae - neither have I gotten my first kiss

Hae - but we can stay friends after, it's not like you're gonna fall for me
Y/N - trust me, I can fall in love easily. And aren't you the one complimenting me earlier?

Our eyes looked at each other, seeing she had an uncertain look.
Glinting like the stars were misaligned, as if she were to watch the whole world fall apart.
Y/N - yeah- but- *sighs*
Rubbing my eyes with my fingers, avoiding my eyes so I wouldn't have to deal with stinging eyes

Hae - hm?
Y/N - you're important. We're not simply in the same boat of careers you know.
Hae - that won't stop me.
Y/N - but what happens when it does? Sure we're friends, we mess around after this and then what happens when dispatch or some picture or video gets out? What will you do?

Y/N - listen, we know the consequences. I hear it a lot. Especially after I heard about with one of your former member.

Hae - c- can we try though? Maybe just for tonight?
Running through my head, I knew it would be a mistake if I did knowing who I am. She's not just annoying to me, there are such better and good parts about her that I won't try to admit for myself so I can't try getting those emotions I feared before.
But in all honesty, we all know we need something to keep us going in our lives.
I already have my reason to live, she's what keeps me alive and well for the both of us.
But who knows what could happen.
If I let my fear take over, who knows what I might become or even, if I'd stay the same.
Looking at her, the uncertainty in our eyes.
What lies for the future ahead, we won't know until we try, for better or for worse.
Sighing, my unoccupied arms now wrapped around her shoulder with the other one holding onto her other shoulder, cupping them gently.
Y/N - yeah. For tonight, I'm yours.
Hae - I'm sorry if you fall in love with me after this.
Y/N - it wouldn't be a bad thing after all.
A gentle soft smile plastered across her face, it softened up.
Closing both of our eyes, leaning into each other's faces.
Feeling the tenderness of her lips, delving into our wants.
My hand lifted from her shoulder, now caressing her bare face.
Her hands on my chest had cupped against it, softly holding onto me.
With nothing more or less,
I'd only blame the absence of genuine given love for our actions.

Rubbing my eyes awake, before opening them fully.
I was met with my ceiling
Y/N - mmhm.
Groaning as I sat up, feeling some resistance on me when I turned to my side seeing Haewon attached to me.
Y/N - hm.
Turning to the other side, I turned on my phone to see the time.
It's late into the afternoon, so that means my sister had brought her to school.
And it's almost time for her to come home.
Seeing a notification as well, it was my sister saying she'll be dropping her off but can't stay due to work.
Y/N - I'm in at 6 today so, enough time.
Stretching my arms out after putting down my phone.
I yawned quietly as I could, before turning to Haewon, lying back down with her.
Seeing her sleeping face in front of me, wanting to make a move.
From last night, those intimate moments we had.
It made me yearn for it even more.
But I shouldn't let my desires get ahead of me.
So instead, I got up again. This time taking the blanket off of me and getting up on my two feet.
Y/N - I'll just make.. *sighs* breakfast.
Scratching the back of my neck, I walked out of the room quietly so as not to disturb her.
Going over to the kitchen and got started with breakfast, but maybe it's brunch since it's the afternoon already.

I still have to tidy up the place.
Looking behind me with the eggs in the pan, it's still a mess from last night.
I guess my sister didn't have time.
Gotta thank her though for spending the night again.

Whistling to myself while cooking, it was a while until I heard something behind me.
Turning back around, I see Haewon up and about

Hae - please no dad stuff in the morning

She goes up to me, putting her hand on the back of my shoulder where she leaned in, giving me a kiss on the check which throws me off a bit but I kept my composure.
Y/N - hm? What happened with one time only last night?
Hae - we did it more than just once
Y/N - kissing not necessarily you know
Hae - hey, I'm saving myself up for marriage
Y/N - understandable
Putting her head on my shoulder, she watches me flip the eggs in the pan given I was making a sunny side up
Hae - got one more for me?
Y/N - oh yeah, and I'm making a lot more than this
Hae - cool.
Y/N - how was your sleep?
Stretching her arms and yawning, she softly smiled.
Hae - good actually, since all we did was make out
Y/N - it did get a little heated if I had to say
Hae - didn't know I could be a little like that
We both giggle in each other faces, just reminiscing on last night
Y/N - well, I would say I wouldn't like it but it was- nice.
Hae - yeah.
Like last night, we looked into each other's eyes for a moment, the same feeling rushing over me.
Y/N - I-
She blushed a little, swaying side to side
Hae - yeah?
Leaning into her, she closed her eyes before even saying another word.
*knock knock*
The both of us turned our heads, interrupting our moment
Y/N - oh who's that?
Hae - hm?
Y/N - take over for me or uhm- shit- please?
Hae - no no, of course.
Giving her the handle of the pan, I wiped my hands with a towel before walking over to the front door.
Y/N - who is it?!
Putting my ear closer to the door to hear some faint giggling,
My face immediately lit up, knowing who it was
Opening the door suddenly and putting my face away from the door,
I kneeled down, feeling her small hands wrap around me.
? - Hi papa!
And I never knew, because of one thing that gave me more to breathe.
She would be the sunshine of my life.
