It's been a week hasn't it?
I think it's been a week if I can recall, I wouldn't know.
I'm currently still stuck to my monitor, doing the last few bits I needed for this video.
After this, I'm off for the next few weeks since apparently the girls are taking a break for the meantime before they get back to working on a new EP.
But it won't stop me from working in other departments apparently, so technically it's a semi-break?
He told me he would just call me a day before in advance to say edit for another group, could be for Division 2 where uh- what's the group's name again?
ITZY?
And or for Division 3 where Twice and the big man himself Park Jin-Young are.
Though he did tell me I can't work for Division 1 or for Studio J, something to do with contracts or limitations but hey, I just edit and use the money to get by.
Scratching the back of my head, kicking my feet off the wall below me where my legs laid all the time.
I spun around in my chair, sighing as I realised I was done.
Putting my arms up in the air, before taking a big breath and silently screamed
Victory dancing and saluting myself for the hard, long, 4 hours of work.
Before realising how undoubtedly stupid it would look if someone walked in, so I stopped.
Flying back to my desk, my phone was face down.
Still exactly where I left it be.
Grabbing it and now face side up, turned on my phone to be met with a bright screen that I forgot to turn down earlier, flashbanging me.
Y/N - OH MOTHER-
Turning down the brightness on my phone, I was now able to see that I was met with both the time and texts from Haewon.
With texts such as:
'How are youuuuuuuu'
'How do you get Jinae to calm down again?'
'Nvm got her to calm down'
'It's kind of late, it's like almost 9'
'Still working huh?'
Laughing softly at each of them on how they progressed, I texted back.
Y/N
My work is done here so I'm coming over to get her I'll be there in like idk 30 minutes or smth?
Closing my phone, it occurred to me it was ten o'clock at night.
Why do they make me go into work at like six?
But I shouldn't complain since I do want to pick up Jinae from school when I get the chance too if I'm not still sleeping by the time she's finished.
I should really fix my sleep schedule for these next few weeks.
Looking at my monitor, I did my usual routine.
Save the project, export it. Watch it over and look for any mistakes that are either big or small which fortunately it didn't have any. Then, send the final cut with the file named to what it's supposed to be and send it to the Social Media team.
Then finally, I get ready and get the hell out of here.
So when I was done with everything, I'm already looking down the road in my car.
Then give it a couple of more minutes and some singing along to some music all by my lonesome.
I was now in front of their dorm building.
Killing the engine and unbuckling my seatbelt from me, I opened the car door wide open before stepping right outside.
Leaving my satchel in the passenger seat.
Groaning a bit, stepping out, quickly cracking my back in the process with a little twist and turn there before closing the car door and locking it.
Looking up at the building, it's quite weird that I've been inside there once.
And that was about a few days ago when I brought her over when Yoona told me about the idea last week when I first met all of them.
Not a bad idea, I did bring her everyday since then which they didn't mind.
Walking towards the building, pressing their apartment number on the intercom.
I waited around for an answer until it answered.
Kyujin - hello?
Y/N - Kyujin, it's Y/N. I'm here for Jinae
Kyujin - oh hi Y/N-ssi! Come in!
Y/N - thanks.
The door opened and I let myself inside. Walking up the flights of stairs while my eyes looked around.
Every one of these apartments holds either an idol or actor/actress.
Meaning that all of them came from different companies and agencies and whatnot.
I am curious who does live in these apartments, just for curiosity sake but I do not want to be here longer than I have to since you know. Dispatch and stuff.
Walking on the same floor where they lived, stepping towards their apartment before being greeted by it.
Knocking on it, while I waited for someone to answer.
To pass the very short time I had to wait, I just whistled.
And just then, it opened.
Opening fully to reveal a pyjama wearing Jiwoo
Jiwoo - oh Y/N! Hello!
Y/N - hello Jiwoo
Jiwoo - come in!
She opened the door for me, letting me go inside while listening her close the door behind
Jiwoo - Jinae's asleep but she's been good
Y/N - that's great to hear, where's everyone else?
Jiwoo - in the living room
We were in the hallway, the both of us walking together
Y/N - how are you? Haven't seen you in a while
Jiwoo - I'm alright, we've just been practising and shooting stuff
Y/N - you all rested?
Jiwoo - mmhm I just took a nap earlier so I'll be awake for a while since we are off for the next few weeks
Y/N - yeah
Stepping into the living room, they were scattered on the couch before their heads turned to me.
Though they were missing one Jinsol
Lily - hi Y/N-ssi
They all silently greeted me, seeing as it was all dark inside with only the tv screen blaring light surrounding them as Jinae was asleep on Yoona's lap.
I stood there as Jiwoo joined Kyujin on the couch where Haewon gestured to come near which I did.
Sitting down on the floor where I looked at all of them on both sides, turning side to side to look at them, talking to me in a quiet voice
Hae - you're a bit late
Y/N - sorry, I just had to finish up everything
Responding to her with a quiet voice too, where Yoona taps my shoulder, making me look at her.
Sully - sorry about this, we put on a movie that we could watch with her, and well- she fell asleep.
Y/N - it's alright. How are you guys? Did she give you trouble today?
Lily - no no, she was excellent. The usual
Y/N - thanks for taking care of her again, but we are free after all of this for a while
Kyujin - thank you sajangnim for this, did he pay you already though?
Y/N - he did, quite a hefty check. He added in a bonus since I worked overtime a few nights last month.
Jiwoo - you gonna spend it on something nice?
Y/N - not really, just groceries, bills, probably some materials for the shower since the shower head started leaking.
Lily - that sounds awful, you done any work like that before?
Y/N - once but for a month. So I'm used to it.
Hae - are you hungry? We got takeout in the kitchen.
Y/N - a little, do you mind if I spend time here having dinner?
They all shook their heads, softly smiling.
Hae - it's okay oppa. You're tired and hungry just like everyone.
Y/N - thank you
Kyujin - uhh- we can't really get up since we're in a bit of a pickle except Lily-unnie so she can grab you a plate
Lily - oh ye- yeah.
Even though Jinae was sleeping on Yoona's lap. Her head was on Haewon, her body on Yoona's and her small legs were on Kyujin's.
She wasn't long or anything, but they just didn't want to risk waking her up but Lily was on the really far side of the couch so she was the only one who could get up.
Y/N - cool cool
Lily - here, I'll be back girls.
'Ne'
Standing up halfway, I silently got out from the floor and out of their vision to not block the movie where Lily walked along beside me but slightly in front so I could follow her.
Y/N - where's Jinsol?
Lily - sleeping, she's like that usually after a long day.
Y/N - oh right.
Stopping on the edge of the kitchen, standing around as Lily made her way over to the cabinet, opening it and grabbing a bowl or two for me.
She turned around, sitting them on the kitchen island which I admired since the company treats them pretty well despite the amount of successful groups we have.
Y/N - thanks
Lily - no problem
Handing my chopsticks too, putting myself on one of the stools that was up to the island's height where she also put the food in front of me.
Y/N - thanks for that too
Lily - no problem, again.
Leaving me to dig in, I didn't notice that Lily had walked away. Hearing her steps before it came to a stop
Lily - Y/N-ssi?
Turning my head, nodding at her with my chopsticks almost reaching my mouth with the mouthful of rice on it.
Y/N - yes, Lily?
Lily - d- do you want to have a talk? I've seen the movie they've been watching a million times and I- I just you know, conversation for the time being.
Y/N - sure
Softly laughing with a smile on her face, she sat beside me while I began to eat.
Lily - so- uhm-
Swallowing my piece of food, I turned my neck to her slightly, giving her a listening expression
Y/N - yeah?
Lily - I heard from Yoona about how you had Jinae when you were 18?
Y/N - in American age?
Lily - I think it's more universal
Y/N - but yeah, I did. Pretty rough stuff to be honest
Lily - how come?
Y/N - because I didn't plan to be a father, I made a mistake during you know- the process. You're old enough to know about that right?
Lily - I'm well aware.
Y/N - well, let's just say. I was the tortoise in the situation, you know. The story of the race between the tortoise and the hare?
Lily - oh yeah- oh......
Y/N - one led thing to another, a little inappropriate to tell you actually
Lily - I'm grown up enough to listen
Y/N - then, to continue on. A few pregnancy tests later because we couldn't believe it after about a week or two.
Lily - must've been nerve wracking
Y/N - very. But then again, there's just a lot I wouldn't go on about.
Stuffing another bite into my mouth, I glanced at her, a curious look on her face.
Y/N - you alright there?
Lily - yeah. It's just, so where's your wife then? Or girlfriend right?
Y/N - oh right, you don't know.
Lily - don't know what? I assume she's busy right?
Y/N - she left me and Jinae right after she was born.
Lily - oh.
Tucking my lips and making a sort of half sigh, half laugh. Wiping my nose that didn't have anything on it before inhaling loudly.
Y/N - it's just the way it was. I wouldn't blame her. Who would want to be a parent that early? I could've given her up for adoption, maybe left her to my relatives to raise instead because I wasn't ready either. But- she's my blood. She's my daughter. If my parents had to take care of me no matter how hard it was, then I should be the same as them.
Lily - t- that- I'm so sorry.
Y/N - don't be, that was a long time ago. Not that long, but five years can go by just as fast as one.
Lily - I understand.
Y/N - let's get out of that talk. Haewon told me you're the Aussie of the group, so I wouldn't put on me that you're quite fluent in English
Lily - I am, been here a long time
Y/N - that's great, I ain't gonna ask you like corny questions or whatever. But, I mean. How does it feel being an idol? Must be amazing ain't it?
Her face lit up, brightening the room a bit making me softly smile before grabbing another bite into my mouth.
Lily - it's great really. I like what we're doing and being able to travel around the world. Hopefully we get to actually travel around around, you know what I mean?
Y/N - yeah I get you, me too because of everything.
Lily - have you ever thought about going to Australia?
Y/N - yeah I have. I've worked with an Australian guy, who came from Melbourne to just crash in Korea for an internship in the same company I was working at as a freelancer. Nice guy, told me stories and stuff.
Lily - did he tell you everything about Australia?
Y/N - yeah a bit, Kookaburras and all. Told me a story about how he squared up against a kangaroo, and had a nasty scar to show too.
Lily - they are ferocious after all
Y/N - yeah haha
Seeing how she's warmed up to me, and I think I've warmed up to her too.
Y/N - got any plans for the break while we're at it here?
Lily - I don't really know. Maybe record a cover, which you'll probably edit when we get back
Y/N - yep.
Lily - maybe read some books, then I'm not sure.
Y/N - well you've got enough time to figure it out. I've still got to work during the meantime
Lily - sajangnim gave you work?
Y/N - more so, working in the other divisions when they need an extra editor or something.
Lily - sounds rough, means you'll be bringing Jinae over here again?
Y/N - why? Not liking it?
She waved her hands around, laughing it off. I felt content being able to mess with her.
Lily - ani! Not at all! She's really lovely to be with and everything
Y/N - I'm just joking, I'm glad you like being with my daughter. I try to be there for her but since the company got me working late late so it's great having someone or some people fill in for me.
Lily - but you've been with her since she was a baby right?
Y/N - yep. I remember the days of trying to figure out how to change a diaper to trying to make friends with the other parents only to get shot down since, single parents aren't still necessarily beloved by everyone.
Lily - it's sort of stupid if you ask me
Y/N - mmhm, at least a child still has a parent at the end of the day. It's better to have one or two than none at all.
Lily - that's a pretty nice way to put it
Y/N - I wasn't necessarily the smartest out of the bunch but I get right and wrong.
Lily - you seem pretty smart to me, it takes a lot of time how to edit especially like you
Y/N - but there's always someone who's put in more hours than me. I'd say I'm alright for the most part.
Lily - I'm not necessarily the greatest singer ever but I wouldn't put myself like that
Y/N - you sort of are, the greatest singer of this generation
Lily - oh stop
She blushed a bit from my not supposed to be compliment, I was just being honest.
Y/N - either way, you're still pretty amazing
Lily - thank you.
Softly smiling, I finished up the last of the food. Neatly tucking the chopsticks on top of the bowl.
Y/N - thanks for the meal.
Lily - you're finished already?
Y/N - yeah, uhm- I'll just put these in the dishes-
Lily - no no, it's alright. We can deal with these later.
She stood up, grabbing the bowls by the edges and brought them over to the sink.
Watching her, waiting patiently where she walked back to me.
Lily - that was a nice talk
Y/N - yeah, it was.
Checking my watch at the time, it was almost quarter to 10 and even though I don't have work tomorrow. Jinae has school so, gotta get going.
Y/N - oh, right. It's almost a quarter past.
Lily - already?
Y/N - yeah.
Looking up at her, I gently nodded at her
Y/N - I have to get going, Jinae still has school tomorrow and I got to catch up on some Z's.
Lily - no no I understand, got any plans for tomorrow?
Y/N - probably stop by a hardware store. I still haven't fixed the shower head and I forgot to buy something else.
Lily - oh okay okay, want to say goodbye to the girls?
Y/N - of course, I still have to get Jinae haha
We both softly laugh, myself getting up from the stool.
Walking back to the living room where we stood in front of them, Haewon paused the movie.
Hae - hm?
Lily - Y/N-ssi has to leave, Jinae still has school tomorrow
Haewon jokingly hits her head in realisation, making them laugh quietly.
Hae - ah right
Y/N - yup, so I gotta bring this little lady to her bed and I gotta go sleep
Sully - long night Y/N?
Y/N - was. But hey, at least I get to go sleep and actually pick her up for the next few weeks
Kyujin - you gonna come by with her any time soon?
Jiwoo - Kyujin-ah, what if he's busy?
Jiwoo slaps Kyujin on the arm, with Kyujin reacting to it with a pout.
Giving me a slight chuckle, putting a hand down a pocket in my jeans.
Y/N - probably, it's a break after all but I have to work for some of the other groups in the meantime so I won't be fully on vacation
Hae - you told me didn't you?
Y/N - like, earlier right?
Hae - yeah.
Sully - we'll still be happy to take her in, we don't plan to do much since we have to get our creativity going before we get back
Jiwoo - actually, I'm going to Busan with my mom in like a couple of days so I won't be here
Kyujin - I forgot about that
Lily - I forgot too, I'm going back to Australia on the same day
Hae - why do we keep forgetting these again?
Sully - you're our leader, you tell us
The girls laugh as Haewon just side eyed all of them while carefully getting Jinae off.
Stepping forward, leaning in to hold Jinae.
Lifting her up into my arm, her head on my shoulder.
Y/N - is it just the two of you?
Jiwoo - I think so
Lily - yeah I think
Hae - we'll still be around, just missing those two but I wouldn't say no
Y/N - I know that, and hey. You know where my key is, you still have that copy?
Kyujin - you have a copy of Y/N-ssi's place?
Nodding her head confidently, crossing her arms as if to feel special about being the only one who has an extra key to my place except for my sister.
Hae - yep. That's the benefits
Kyujin - we should come over sometime, you've always come here. We should come to yours
Y/N - I wouldn't be opposed, just give me time to clean up the place and we're bingo.
Jiwoo - that would be pretty fun
Sully - do you have any games that you would have there Y/N-ssi?
Y/N - believe me, I do have some. I have a PS5 in my living room, so you're alright there.
Hae - hehe it's pretty fun, right oppa?
Y/N - we're not playing together again
Hae - it was one time
Y/N - and that one time has already broken my trust in us playing games like that again
Lily - what was the game?
Y/N - overcooked
Jiwoo - what's that?
Y/N - you ever played uno?
JIwoo - yeah
Y/N - think of it as the cooking version of uno except without cards and it's just utter chaos
Hae - it was fun except for us shouting at each other, being stressed and stuff
Y/N - yeah.
Softly laughing to myself, I briefly glanced at the door before turning back around to them.
Y/N - look, we really gotta go. So I'll see myself out alright?
They all nodded, understanding with Haewon getting up from the couch.
Hae - I'll see you out too
Y/N - okay, bye girls

Waving at me goodbye, I waved at them back while walking to the front door with Haewon beside me.
She opened the door for me, the both of us stepping outside together before closing the door behind her, leaving us together.
Y/N - well. Haewon.
Hae - oppa.
Y/N - this is the part where we step away for the night.
Hae - yeah.
Her cheeks puffed up, smiling to herself while swaying side to side.
I let out a soft laugh, smirking.
Hae - what?
Y/N - nothing. It's been a bit more nice. You know, being able to work without having to worry about my noona having to call me and say she's going off early or worry about leaving Jinae all alone.
Hae - she's a strong girl so I don't think you have to worry that much
Her arm lifted to lay a hand on Jinae's hair, gently stroking it before she leaned in and kissing her on the back of her head.
Y/N - hehe yeah.
We both smiled at each other, a bit quiet for a moment there.
Hae - are you free tomorrow right?
Y/N - I am.
Hae - can I come over?
Y/N - I wouldn't say no would I?
Hae - heh alright
Y/N - how does it feel being Jinae's mom?
Hae - surprisingly she hasn't called me it since then, a bit odd.
Y/N - maybe she's shy to call you it.
Hae - she's still a bit shy around the girls but she's still lively.
Y/N - that's good.
Without a beat, she leaned in towards me.
Giving me a soft kiss on my lips,
I indulged in it more than I should but at this point, why not?
As that moment was over, her hand rested on my arm, gently caressing it.
Hae - you get home safe okay?
Y/N - I will, I'll see you tomorrow then.
Hae - before you leave
Quickly fixing the position of Jinae on my arm, looking at Haewon with a nod
Y/N - yeah?
Hae - if I'm her mom, and we didn't talk about this ever
Y/N - yeah?
Hae - can I be called by a pet name?
Y/N - oooo right, but we aren't dating?
Hae - I know that, but it would be nice when we're alone.
Y/N - sure.
Hae - I already call you oppa in general so it evens us out

Opening the front door, we were greeted by the four of them, standing around and trying to make it seem like they weren't listening.
Me and Haewon looked at each other, an unimpressed expression formed on her face while I just shrugged with one shoulder.
Hae - how long have you been standing there. All of you?
Peering my head into the doorway, Kyujin whistled while looking on her phone, the rest just really badly playing it off
Sully - hm what? We were just waiting for th- the bathroom-
Hae - the lights aren't even on.
Lily quickly turns on the lights before resuming to play the part, making me soft laugh to myself. Holding it in as quickly as I laughed with Haewon's head snapping to look at me before at them.
Jiwoo - Jinsol-unnie i- is in the bathroom
Hae - wow how original. Alright, we're talking about this now.
Y/N - well.... I'll see you then
Hae - oh right bye oppa
She quickly tries to shove them back in, trying to close the door as I faintly hear
Sully - BYE OPPPAAAA
Hae - YOONA!
The door finally closed as I turned to the hallway, turning my neck to look at Jinae.
Proudly smiling while fixing her hair to the side, hearing her snore.
Y/N - come on munchkin, let's get home.
Stepping forward and made our way back home

I was freshly out of the shower.
Not a care in the world, Jinae sitting beside me reading in her book that I was helping her sound out as she read

I was surprised I was doing good at the same time while talking to Jinae, my head glancing over to her and the tv every few seconds.
Given I was playing Soulcalibur 6 which thankfully Sony had ported over to the PS5 and it's a fighting game, my muscle memory and trust in myself to even play the game while teaching Jinae has to be some sort of superpower
With the match quickly ending and myself victorious. I quickly patted Jinae's head, leaning in to kiss her on her hair.
Y/N - Jinae?
Jinae - yes papa?
Y/N - how do you feel about mommy?
Jinae - she's very nice and takes care of me well
Y/N - anything else?
Jinae - hmmmm why does mommy not stay with us?
Y/N - oh- well she's an idol Jinae.
Jinae - like the ones I like?
Y/N - yeah like Wonyoung or Minji
Jinae - I didn't know that
Y/N - she's wonderful and she can be busy that's why, like how your auntie Somin is an actress, it's a big job

Turning back to look at the TV, the doorbell rang unexpectedly.
Y/N - hm? This late in the afternoon?
Haewon said she would be coming but she said she would be here like an hour ago. Is it her? But I would've just thought that something came up for her.
Y/N - sweetie?
Jinae - yes papa?
Y/N - do you remember how to play this game?
Jinae - yes!
Y/N - cool want to take over for papa while I answer the door?
Jinae - yay! Sure!
Quickly going into a match for her to play against a bot on easy, I gave her the controller letting her pick her character and stage and whatnot.
Ruffling her hair standing up, she giggled to herself

Walking over to the front door, I opened the door expecting a delivery man or something since I did order a new keyboard for my setup.
Kyujin - hi Y/N-SSI!
Being greeted with a loud wave from Kyujin, in front of me were all 6 of them. Haewon looked,
As if she was dead inside. Just staring at the ground into oblivion.
Y/N - hell- o?
Lily - sorry we didn't tell you in advance, they practically forced Haewon to bring us since last night.
Sully - and we are all free as you can see
Y/N - yeah. I see.
Standing there, Jinsol waved at me as I waved back
Bae - I didn't see you last night! I was asleep!
Y/N - that's alright Jinsol, uhm- come in. please.
Opening the door widely for them to enter, I stepped to the side letting them come in.
Watching them walk in, they all branched out around the place. Kyujin and Jiwoo went over to Jinae with Yoona following after seeing the game on screen.
Jinsol looked around the kitchen, just eyeing everything.
Lily just scanned around the place and Haewon, well.
She just stood in front of me, her hands on my shoulders. Her head dropping low as she sobbed jokingly
Hae - I fought hard with valiant and honour just for them to take my phone....
Y/N - there there
Patting the back of her head as she hugged me, Lily turned around to look at me before nodding and looking back to where she was looking.
Y/N - they took your phone?
Hae - I tried to stop them from coming oppa...
Y/N - it's alright, the more the merrier right?
Hae - I guess....
Looking up at me, she quickly looked around before kissing me, catching me off guard.
Y/N - Aein, relax. Your members are here
Hae - can I not? It's been all day and I'm tired
Y/N - you c- can. But it- it's a bit- I thought they don't know?
Hae - they don't.
Y/N - just- when we're alone okay?
Hae - okay.
The both of us understood, she let go from my shoulders. Turning around to face the girls still doing their own thing.
Hae - not even a second in and they're already invading.
Y/N - mmhm. I did clean up the place and organised some things around
Hae - I've noticed, you moved the bookshelf again?
Y/N - I need space for that statue collection
Hae - did you buy another?
Y/N - oh yeah. I got a Spawn statue and telling you *whistles* it is big and cost way too much
Hae - how much?
Y/N - you don't wanna know
She lit up, laughing softly with a cute smile on her face, before putting her head on my shoulder.
Hae - you're such a nerd
Y/N - well, you gotta have interests you know
Hae - it's cute.

Hae - should I round them up and get their attention for just forgetting that this is your home?
Y/N - eh, I think it's fine.
They both walked over to the couch, joining Kyujin, Yoona and Jiwoo while our eyes glued to the screen.
Y/N - who's winning?
Jinae - me!
Kyujin - you gave your controller to Jinae?
Y/N - she knows how to play the game, she's pretty good all things considered
Jiwoo - did you teach her or?
Y/N - weirdly enough, she figured it all out. I wouldn't be surprised if she made it to EVO when she's older
Hae - what's EVO?
Y/N - fighting game tournament, just like Worlds you know, for League.
Kyujin - you play League?
Y/N - no. and I don't want to.
Sully - I do
Y/N - no offence Yoona
Sully - none taken.
Y/N - but it's like you fight in your category, if you play Smash, you play against other smash players otherwise it wouldn't be fair if you get a Tekken player to play Smash when he's never played that game
Hae - I get that, so do you win money?
Y/N - oh yeah. A lot of it.
Kyujin - does she play other games?
Y/N - funny enough, Tekken. She plays Lili, I thought she would pick Alisa but oh well.
Jiwoo - I do not know any of those
Hae - me neither
Sully - I didn't know you were really into games Y/N-ssi

Y/N - given I am your own and only one in the entire department, yeah I get paid pretty well.

Y/N - they came out ages ago and I never snagged one since I didn't have money at the time, so actually. That is a Korean set technically?

Lily - yeah. It's just any other normal room except there's just big display cases and a big computer and desk where your closet is supposed to be.
Y/N - that's why the closet is on the side of the room. I did my work here when the pandemic hit and I just got used to it

Y/N - yeah. I know we shouldn't have done that. But she was still a baby turning into a toddler during those two-three ish years we were inside most of the time. And it was just the two of us mainly. So it was a bit hard but hey, now we're here
