Chapter 43:
Leon stared blankly at the sky among the people.
âI should have killed them all.â
No wonder I didnât feel good. I couldnât figure out why I was here.
âElleâ¦â
I missed you so much that I couldnât wait to see you. It was so sad that I only saw her sleeping.
Elle must have got up in the morning to find me.
The two resentful eyes came to mind clearly.
However, from Leonâs point of view, it was inevitable.
All he could do was pack the gift that Elle had prepared.
Besides, he replied.
I thought it would take some time to get there. Maybe even more than I thought.
Iâll go find you when itâs all over.
But Leon never dreamed of it.
He didnât know that the war would break out so soon and come straight to the battlefield.
He expected he wouldnât be able to say goodbye anymore, but it wasnât like this.
He closed his eyes then looked at the bracelet on his wrist.
âHuhâ¦â¦? Sir Leon?â
The familiar voice opened his eyes.
The person he didnât want to meet was smiling broadly at him.
He didnât remember anyone other than Elle. Because he thought he didnât have to.
However, there is only one person except for Elle.
Janice could not be forgotten.
A pattern on her wrist. And it remained in his head as if an unknown vortex of emotion was imprinted.
Leon frowned as he saw Janice approaching him.
âWhy is that woman?â
I knew I applied for the announcement, but I didnât expect to be assigned to the same place.
Every time Janice came up to me, my heart was pounding.
It wasnât an unpleasant stir, but it was not pleasant.
âI didnât expect to see you here.â
Isnât she staying at the countâs residence?
Leon wanted to ask but closed his mouth.
Judging from the fact that Delther was invisible, it was clear that Janice had come without reason
She was a princess, but she didnât really know anything.
âI was surprised too. Besides, itâs war.â
He recognized me at once today.
Janice was in a good mood inside.
This time, she was thinking about what to do if he mistook her for someone else or if he didnât know her.
âYou know who I am, donât you?â
She asked just in case. Maybe heâs pretending to know.
âArenât you Princess Janice Abel Bonita?â
Leon frowned to take a closer look at her.
He doesnât remember correctly, but she was definitely right.
Elle was the only one he could recognize.
âYes, thatâs right. You remembered.â
Janice clapped her hands and smiled brightly again.
Leon felt like someone who really didnât fit in with this place.
âBut Iâm glad I know someone.â
She approached Leon with a sigh of relief.
It was unexpected.
In order to be recognized, Janice also participated in this announcement by invitation rather than by her own will.
She needs to be recognized for her power so that others wonât criticize her.
There was a divine power to heal in her body.
The emperor thought it would be a perfect excuse to be in the royal family.
However, contrary to his intention, the war broke out and she was forced to be transferred.
Because those with healing powers were extremely rare.
ââ¦â¦You were very flustered, right?â
I didnât know that others would come to the battlefield immediately, so I thought he would be the same as me.
Contrary to expectations, however, Leon seemed calm.
Rather, he has a boring face.
âIs that right? War can always happen.â
Peopleâs greed was endless. In addition, the current emperor was not a great man who showed sensibility.
I remembered Elleâs anger and laughed
.
âOh, my God.â
I had to refrain from laughing in front of others.
Janiceâs eyes, which were looking at me, stood in awe.
His eyes sparkled like a baby bird.
âDonât you have to go back?â
It may be inconvenient to be together.
Iâm not sure if sheâs my companion yet, so itâs too early to remove it.
âIf Elle knew this, she would have talked about fate.â
Tsk.
My tongue clicked automatically.
I thought it would be refreshing to catch and eliminate the inventor who created the word fate.
Leon responded calmly. She was only concerned about the Elle she had left behind.
âI canât see the Crown Prince, did you come alone?â
I canât believe heâs taken that bothersome creature off the hook. The emperor may have break it down.
Because Delther was not willing to accept Janiceâs existence.
There was a pity in my heart.
âOh, yes⦠If he knew, he wouldnât have sent me.â
I didnât expect that, but I guess she came secretly.
âYou two seemed quite close, but I guess not.â
âDid we?â
Janice smiled awkwardly.
Unlike his crooked words, Delther cared for me quite a bit.
It was true that he bothered me, but it wasnât unbearable.
âBut are you sure weâre going to be okay?â
âWhat are you talking about?â
Leon was slowly becoming annoyed by Zenith.
I thought it would be okay to answer one or two times, but it doesnât seem to be like that.
Are you ignorant or pretending not to know?
Leonâs eyes narrowed.
âI canât figure it out. I donât even want to know.â
He touched the bracelet on his wrist.
He had no choice but to see Elle as soon as possible.
âIâm actually a little scared. I feel more at ease because I met someone I know.â
Leonâs eyes were shaken by Janiceâs clear smile.
âWhy?â
He floated a question mark in his head.
I didnât understand.
Why is my heart reacting to her smile?
I canât do this.
He turned his head hastily.
âWell, Iâll get going now.â
The more we stay together, the worse it will work for me.
Leonâs body was not interested.
However, it is a problem that his heart is moved by his pattern.
âHey there!â
Janice hastily called Leon.
She glanced around and walked up to Leon and grabbed his wrist.
âCan you stay with me for a while?â
ââ¦â¦why should I?â
Leon saw Janiceâs hand shaking.
She felt like a herbivore frightened by scary things.
Slender and infinitely weak.
âIâll just be by your side.â
Janice said pathetically.
The eyes of the crowd who have been staring at her since before have approached her more blatantly.
It wasnât that Leon didnât feel the gaze either.
I just decided that there was no need for us to be together.
It wasnât for me.
âDidnât Elle tell you to be well.â
It may have been for the Velois, but Leon hesitated for a moment.
Isnât it Elleâs request, not anyone else.
If you speak well here, they may have a good view of the Belois family in the royal family.
I didnât know exactly what she was worried about, but I vaguely expected it.
âDeath, yes, Elle was afraid of it.â
She always had a fear that she might die because of someone.
It seemed to get heavier when she met Delther among them.
âDonât you have any company?â
âThere is. Sheâs away for a while. I meanâ¦.â
âI see.â
Before Janiceâs words were finished, Leon said.
Janiceâs eyes opened wide with astonishment at his reaction.
âIâm glad you said youâd stay.â
She relaxed and leaned her head against Leon.
Leon looked down at Janice, who was leaning on him quietly.
What appears to overlap with Elle is probably a delusion created by my emotions.
He suddenly bit his teeth.
âI have to finish it sooner rather than later.â
The longer he was apart from Elle, the more time she had to run away from him.
Leon recalled the letter in his arms.
[Have a safe trip.]
Apparently Elle told me to go.
I didnât remember anything else above. It was okay to remember only the important things.
The letter with âCome backâ rather than âGoodbyeâ was meaningful to Leon.
He judged that it also implies the word come back.
It didnât matter what Elle was thinking.
âI can stay with you, but this is difficult.â
Leon pushed Janiceâs head back.
âThere is only one person who can lean on me.â
Elle Natasia.
The owner of Leon and a member of the Velois family.
Janice did not forget the appearance of the two of them in the garden that day.
She had nothing to do with me, but she kept stepping in on me.
I was curious about Leon, and I wanted to get a little closer.
But he kept pushing me away.
No, he was so insensitive that I couldnât even say he was pushing me away.
âSo stay away.â
Janice fluttered with embarrassment at his subdued voice.
âOh, Iâm sorry.â
Tears rolled out without realizing it. Janice turned and wiped away the tears.
âI think itâs all right now, so Iâll go.â
Leon did not respond to her watery voice.
ââ¦â¦Ugh.â
Leon groaned briefly.
I felt pain in my heart and had a hard time breathing.
