Chapter 329 Lover Boy Isla started chuckling inwardly as she leaned over Melanie. âSnit mying to deny it?â
Quincy asked rather awkwardly. âDid I say something wrong?â
âDo whatever you want,â Melanie said with a wave of her hand, hoping that would shut him up.
âCough, cough.â
Jeffreyâs voice, laced with thinly-veiled frustration, sounded from behind. He cleared his throat, and said, âAre we taking the group photo or not?â
âOf course, we are!â
Melanie stood right in the middle, and Jeffrey stood on her right side. Everyone else around them automatically made space for him.
Quincy seized the chance to stand to the left of Melanie. Isla saw what was happening, and swiftly took her spot on Jeffreyâs right side.
All four of them had something up their sleeves.
Snap!
The group photo was finally taken.
With the first day of the exhibition drawing to a close, as the main organizers, Melanie and Jeffrey personally bade goodbye to all their guests.
When the last guest finally stepped out of the exhibition hall, Jeffrey immediately grabbed Melanieâs wrist and pulled her in his embrace.
âIâll warn Leo York to keep his distance from you. As for that fool Quincy, tell him yourself,â Jeffrey said, clearly bothered by what he heard from Isla.
âTell him what?â Melanieâs brow arched as she questioned him back. âWhat about Ms. Romero? Come to think of it, where did you put the health supplements she lovingly prepared for you?â
âI didnât accept it.â
Jeffreyâs eyes twinkled as he indulged in Melanieâs cheeky expression.
âDid you not accept it, or did you actually eat them all in secret?â
Melanie felt his arms drawing her in tighter. âDo you want to test it out and see if Iâve become stronger from taking the supplements?â
âCut it out.â
Melanie pushed him away, realizing that the clean-up crew was still around.
Jeffrey held himself back, but his eyes were still ablaze. âIâve walked through the entire exhibition, but still +15 BONUS Melanie didnât expect Jeffrey to be looking for the perfume. She evaded his gaze, but Jeffrey saw through her right away.
While trying to hold back his laughter, he said, âIt belongs exclusively to me, right? Thatâs why you donât want to share it with others, right?â
âYouâre really confident about yourself now, arenât you, President Morgan?â
âWhen can I use the perfume that belongs exclusively to me?â He ignored her stubborn insistence, and asked her when she was planning to officially present it to him. âWhy not tonight? Weâll go horne right now...â
Their close proximity made Melanie blush. âI have something to attend to tonight, and wonât be going home. You go on ahead.â
âWhat else do you have to attend to after being busy for an entire day?â Jeffrey said in disbelief.
âIâm going to Elder Gibsonâs studio. Itâs too far for me to go home tonight,â Melanie said. She felt uneasy over his reaction, and wanted to look him up at his studio in Flora Ocean in Willowfort.
âMust you go?â he asked.
âYes,â she said.
âFine. Iâll have the driver send you there,â Jeffrey said helplessly as he walked her to the door. He opened the door for her, and reminded, âTomorrow night. Iâll wait for you.â
The driver seated in front straightened his back. The presidentâs words were so suggestive, he didnât want to look as if he were reading too much into it.
Melanie blushed, and hurriedly closed the door. âLetâs go, sir.â
Melanie arrived at Elder Gibsonâs studio in no time.
Elder Gibsonâs assistant had guessed it right. Elder Gibson did close himself up in his perfume blending room. When Melanie entered the room, he was staring at the perfume concocted with emerald vine in a daze.
âHeartless is the one who departs first, her mesmerizing figure vanishing without a trace. Heartbroken is the one who remains, chasing after a shadow that is long gone!â he mumbled to himself in anguish.
âDevoted lovers really do exist in this world.â
Elder Gibson realized that Melanie was here when she spoke. He turned around, and walked over to her with his hands behind his back. âWhat are you doing here at such a late hour?â
âTrying to get free accommodation,â Melanie said teasingly.
Elder Gibson glared jokingly at her, and she added, âPeople asked the heavens why regrets exist in life. The heavens reply: this world is full of regrets. People wouldnât know what happiness is without regrets.â
âHmph,â Elder Gibson sneered as he mocked, âYou know very much for your tender age!â
âYouâre right, Master. I might be young, but Iâve had multiple near-death experiences. Each time I thought Iâd 23 #15 BONUS been through such traumatic experiences,â Melanie said with her chest puffed up.
Elder Gibsonâs eyes dimmed. Thatâs true, he thought. Yelena used to say the exact same thing.
âAre you very curious about Yelena?â Elder Gibson asked.
Melanie nodded without any hesitation.
In the past, everyone around Elder Gibson shunned the topic to protect him, not wanting him to dwell on the pain of the past.
Melanie thought otherwise-perhaps they should help release him from the pain in another way. Deliberately avoiding the topic seemed to be making things worse.
âI know sheâs from the Yorks, and that she died young. Other than that, Iâve never heard anything else about her.â Melanie said.
Elder Gibson said with a wave of his hand, âForget it! Itâs all in the past, and I donât want to dwell on it. If youâre curious, go ask Cece about it. They were good friends, and she knows everything about her.â
âCece?â That name wasnât familiar to Melanie.
âJeffreyâs grandmother!â Elder Gibson snapped irritably.
