Chapter 339 She Didnât Die âMelanie? Why are you alone here?â
The voice was of someone who was graceful and lived a pampered life. Melanie turned around and was unsurprised to see Isla walking over.
âYouâre here alone, too?â Melanie asked.
âMy dad took me here.â Isla replied.
Malanie blinked. Looks like Luis and Leo both were very close as well.
âDid you just cry? Are your eyes swollen?â Isla asked her carefully.
âI didnât sleep well last night.â
Melanie answered. Looks like sheâd disguised herself pretty well. âIs my makeup ruined? Iâm sorry, Iâll go to the washroom.â
âLet me go with you,â Isla said and followed her.
The Mr. Price that Jeffrey had just met outside the Yorkâs entrance was someone that had just signed a business deal with Morgan Group. They had agreed to come together to the Yorks tonight so that they could take a look at the first draft of the contract. However, William didnât bring the contract with him at all.
That was why Jeffrey yelled at him in fury in front of everyone just now.
William was feeling quite pitiful. He didnât receive any notice from the sales department at all, so he didnât know he even needed to take the contract with him. However, there was nothing to be said, so all he could do was to make a call and ask someone from the department to deliver the contract as soon as possible.
Twenty minutes later, a car belonging to someone from the sales department also parked at the foot of the mountain. The door opened, and a female employee wearing a professional uniform quickly arrived. She quickly put the contract in Williamâs hands.
William looked at her and said, âItâs you?â
âMr... William, the manager asked me to come over... Iâm not late, am I? Iâm so sorry...â Janeâs head hung low. She had never personally seen such a grand party, and she couldnât help but become timid.
William took the contract and gave it a look before handing it to Jeffrey. Jeffrey then said to Mr. Price sincerely and said, âThe contractâs here. You can give it a read and we can talk about any problems later.â
âDonât worry about it, Mr. Morgan.â
Mr. Price left together with his secretary after taking the contract.
Jeffrey turned around as well and walked toward the Yorkâs courtyard, but the servant that was responsible for the registration stopped him. âIâm sorry, but youâll need a female partner before you can come in.â
+15 BONUS âThis is Mr. Jeffrey Morgan!â
William warned him unhappily.
âMaster Leo asked for this, saying that itâs a small rule for the party. Please donât make it difficult for us,â the servant explained with a bow.
William still wanted to ask something when Jeffrey cut him off. All he needed to do was to find a fernale partner, right?
He looked around and narrowed his eyes at Jane who had come with the contract. He could see her eyes that were filled with timidness and anticipation.
âYou. Come over here.â
Jeffrey waved his hand.
Jane didnât dare to delay and jogged to his side.
Jeffrey bent his arm. When he saw that Jane was still standing there like a statue, he frowned. Hold my arm.â
âMr... Morgan?â Jane was scared.
âHelp me here. I need a female partner before I can enter,â Jeffrey explained in a peaceful tone.
âBut Mr. Morgan, I still have work to do... My manager...â Jane said in hesitation.
William looked at the hesitant woman before saying, âEven if you delayed your work, itâs because youâre acting as the female partner for the boss. Do you think your managerâs going to punish you for that?â
âOf course...â
Only then did Jane carefully put her hand around Jeffreyâs arm.
The servant at the entrance then invited them to enter, and everyone looked at them in shock.
There were two kinds of shock. One of them was that Jeffrey had brought a partner along, and she looked so plain, and was wearing a professional outfit...
The other kind of shock was from the veterans of the business world. They had all more or less heard about Jeffreyâs romantic history, and all of those that had some recollection of how the daughter of the Quinn family looked all had their eyes fixed on Janeâs face.
Some of them even whispered in a volume as low as possible and in shock, âDonât tell me... That she didnât die?â
