Chapter 429 Elimination âWhat makes you so sure?â
+15 BONOS Lindaâs rightâhand man was puzzled.
Melanie saw the curious look on Lindaâs face, and explained, âWhen Adam lost his temper last night and you scolded Mr. Wright in front of everyone, he smelled only of tobacco. Not this brand of cologne that he was wearing just now.
âI suppose itâs because he must have been very busy preparing for the show over the past few days, and didnât bother with his usual luxuries.
âWhen you called him and Kelly over to explain themselves, I paid close attention and noticed that he hadnât applied any cologne at that time. However, I also noticed a faint smell of cologne after he queued up. Heâs smarter than Kelly, and used only a little to create the impression that he had applied the cologne much earlier on.
âBut no matter how faint the scent is, a professional will be able to pick up the top note mixed with a bit of the middle note instead of the base note, which should be present had he applied the cologne much earlier on.â
âImpressive!â
Lindaâs rightâhand man couldnât hold back his praise. âSo when you deliberately declared that the smell lingering on the safe was not just that of perfume but also tobacco, you already suspected him at that point?â
Melanie nodded.
Linda looked relieved. âHeâs certainly a prime suspect. He always looks so timid working for me over the years, but now he decided to go all out in betraying me!â
After a momentâs pause, Linda instructed her rightâhand man, âMake sure your men are alert enough! Follow Mr. Wright to find Sun and Moon. Donât alert him to our movements!â
âYes, Miss!â
Lindaâs rightâhand man took on the task and turned to look at Melanie with newfound respect in his eyes. âMiss Melanie, do you need to sniff out the rest of the crowd?â
âWeâll continue,â Melanie said.
âHavenât we already confirmed that itâs Mr. Wright?â the rightâhand man said, confused.
+15 BONOS âMs. Yancey said earlier that Mr. Wright worked for her for so many years. Although it looks like he betrayed her, Iâm sure he planted some spies in Ms. Yanceyâs team. Itâll be good for us to take this chance to identify all of them,â Melanie explained.
Linda nodded with a smile. âItâs tough on you.â
Melanie shook her head with a smile.
After checking through over a hundred staff members, Melanie identified a few key suspects. All of them recently applied perfume, of which three of them used the same brand of fragrance and even applied similar amounts. It was likely that none of them had perfume with them, and they borrowed from the same person to help cover things up.
âGo and take a rest. I asked someone to prepare a room for you,â Linda said to Melanie.
Melanie stood up, and suddenly felt a wave of nausea. She covered her mouth with her hand, and started to dryâheave.
Annie hurriedly walked over to her to hold her steady. âHow are you feeling?â
Linda sighed. âSeems like youâre really exhausted. Bring her to the room. Iâll have someone stew some soup for her and will send it over to her soon.â
Annie nodded, and helped Melanie to the room to lie down. Worried, she complained, âI saw you pushing yourself just now. I knew that there was no use trying to talk you out of it, but there really was no need for you to sniff out so many people! What if something untoward happened to you?â
âThe theft of a jewelry collection meant for the finale of this show is a huge blow to Ms. Yancey. I must help her. Whatâs more, she suddenly wanted to collaborate with me. It is critical for partners to be evenly matched. I must seize this chance to prove my worth,â Melanie explained.
She went on to comfort Annie with a smile, âI know my limits. I wonât bite off more than I can chew.â
Very soon, one of Lindaâs subordinates came in with two bowls of nutritious soup, accompanied with a slip of paper indicating the list of ingredients used in the soup.
Annie looked through it, and said to Melanie, âThey are all ingredients suitable for pregnant ladies to consume...â.
Melanie sipped on the refreshing and tasty soup, unsurprised. âI could sense her taking care of me when we chatted yesterday.â
She told Annie softly about her suspicionsâthat Linda was the mother of that little boy.
Annie exclaimed in hushed tones, âMs. Yancey is such an amazing woman. How could she 2/3 +15 BONOS âThe possibility of Harlow forcing himself upon Ms. Yancey is as low as her fancying him,â Melanie corrected. âSomething unknown must have happened between them back then, thereby resulting in a child between themâan intellectually challenged child, to boot...â
One hour later. Lindaâs rightâhand man came to Melanieâs room and knocked softly on the door.
âMiss Melanie, Miss Snow. Ms. Yancey is asking if youâve rested enough. She wants you to come over.â
âWeâll head over soon,â Melanie said as she sat up on the bed.
