Chapter 471 Beautiful Handwriting William swiftly had dinner served in the living room.
Professor Turner was already seated. He made no secret about it as he asked Jeffrey and Melanie, who had just entered the living room, âDone washing up?â
Melanieâs face turned a bright red. Professor Turnerâs suggestive choice of words embarrassed her thoroughly.
âWhat are you doing just standing there? Come over for dinner, quick!â Professor Turner urged.
Melanie looked down, not wanting to have dinner in such an awkward atmosphere. âIâm still not hungry. You two go ahead.â
âIf it werenât for your pregnancy, I wouldnât have needed to accompany you for your regular meals. I wouldnât have gotten hungry so easily,â Professor Turner said, displeased. âJust ask him: who would dare to rush me to eat when I was busy?â
Jeffrey said with a smile, âHeâs not exaggerating. Professor never called anyone to eat. He himself didnât have regular meals.â
âQuick, eat it while itâs hot.â
Professor Turner saw how embarrassed Melanie still was, and helped by changing the subject.â Youâve improved by leaps and bounds in just two short months. Iâm very glad to see that!â
Melanie walked over slowly to her seat and sat down, with Jeffreyâs help to steady her. Silence fell upon the three of them as they started eating.
Professor Turner was the first to have his fill, and he slowed down his pace as he surveyed the couple seated before him..
He asked, âWhy are you two not talking?â
âThereâs nothing to talk about,â Melanie said.
âFine, thatâs all right. Itâs better than missing each other to death.â Professor Turner said wisely.
âCough...â
Jeffrey choked on his food as he turned his head sharply to the woman seated next to him.
Did that mean she missed him very much during this period as well?
Upon seeing Melanie look down and deliberately avoiding his gaze, Jeffrey spooned some food.
+15 BONOS âEat more. Itâs very strenuous reading through those convoluted and nearly Incomprehensible medical notes of Professor Turnerâs.â
âHow do you know theyâre convoluted and incomprehensible?â Professor Turner asked.
âMelanie told me that your medical notes.â Jeffrey said slowly as he glanced at Melanie.
She once told him that she would learn medicine from Professor Turner over her dead body. His handwriting was too ugly, and certainly didnât look like It came from a person!
Melanie immediately cut Jeffrey off before he blurted out her true thoughts, and said, âI said your medical notes are mysterious and show how highlyâskilled you are.â
âIndeed!â
Jeffrey smirked. He had never seen a woman as articulate and eloquent as her!
However, Professor Turner seemed to have picked up something from their conversation. He put down his spoon, and asked, âHow is my handwriting, then?â
âBrilliant!â Melanie was filled with praises for him. âProfessor Turner, your handwriting is sharp and strong, and youâre just like it...â
Professor Turner couldnât stand her praises, and lifted his hand to cut her off. âI am as unpredictable and capricious as my handwriting. I know.â
Melanie held back her laughter, and kept silent.
Jeffrey couldnât bring himself to laugh. He glanced at Melanie and asked, âI didnât expect you to really learn medicine.â
âMedical skills are used to save lives. Concocting fragrances is just the icing on top. Whatâs more, I canât concoct fragrances that can make people happy right now,â Melanie said as she tried to hide the darkness in her eyes.
Jeffrey, however, noticed the subtle changes in her eyes. His heart ached badly for her.
Over the past 67 days, he bugged the professor daily about Melanie and her motherâs condition. He knew Melanieâs mood would only improve when her motherâs condition improved.
It was getting late by the time they were done with dinner, and Professor Turner was ready to return to his base. Melanie wanted to follow him, but Jeffrey couldnât bear to see her leave.
âIâm heading back to see my mom,â Melanie insisted.
Jeffrey had no choice but to say, âIâll go see you tomorrow, then,â
#15 BGNOS âNo need. Iâm busy studying every day and have no time to entertain you.â Melanie said, rejecting him.
Jeffrey sighed as he turned to look at Professor Turner in hopes of finding support. âI can go visit the professor.â
âCough! Iâm very busy during this period. Donât bother visiting me if nothing is up.â Professor Turner said coldly.
Jeffreyâs face turned dark with displeasure.
