When Madeline went back to the living room, she spotted Naomi. She was grinning as she walked toward Jeremy. She even imitated her voice to call out to Jeremy softly, “Jeremy, you’re back. Oh, why is Quinny back at the same time as you?”

Madeline did not hesitate before retorting, “Mr. Whitman is a nice man. He purposely went to where I did my business to fetch me back.”

While she was feeling nervous, she saw Jeremy glancing over at her. This made Naomi even more nervous.

“Jeremy, I-I did mean to remove Quinny’s mask. It’s because she fell into the water and I was worried that her wounds might get infected, so that’s why I did that.” Naomi quickly found an excuse for herself.

When she heard that, Madeline burst out laughing.

“Mrs. Whitman, do you know what self-induced confession is? It’s what you’re doing now.”

“Nobody captured the video of you ripping my mask off. I lied to you, but your confession is even more convincing than any evidence now.”

Naomi’s face turned one shade paler.

Karen was confused after hearing that. “W-What do you mean?”
