Holding her hand in mine felt good as we walked into the station towards my cabin where Andrea was explaining everything to them. Opening the door, I got shocked by the view in front of me. Aiden, Jack, Steven, Diana, Noah, Sira, and her wife were all in the room, along with that girlâChloeâand Andrea.
"So, the one you love and tried to kill was a Vampire, and that's why you suspected that she was killing," Sira said. Goddammit. "Andrea, everyone knows," I groaned, screaming.
"Hey, not my fault. She called her wife the moment we stepped in the cabin and told. Sira just can't keep her mouth shut. While she was talking and I tried to calm her down, not to tell her wife, the guys entered, and I had to explain it to everyone. Chloe was no help when she just showed her fangs," Andrea explained.
I turned to look at Chloe who was just sitting on top of the side table and showed her fangs again.
"Damm those look sharp can I touch them" Sira questioned.
"Sit down Sira, don't behave like a child." Lydia said holding onto her hand tightly so she doesn't run off.
"But you don't see a Vampire everytime, right now I have a chance to touch her fang." Sira said looking at Lydia with her puppy eyes.
Lydia groans and glares at Sira which makes her sit down quietly. Seeing this interaction Ava laughs standing beside me.
A big sigh left my mouth. This was not going well; everyone knew when they shouldn't have.
"So, it's actually a Vampire's doing, and the person you love is a Vampire too," Aiden said, looking at Ava. I nodded also stepping in front of Ava, not leaving her hand in mine and holding it tightly, protectiveness filling my body to shield her from them. I put my hand on my gun, ready to take charge if any of them made a move towards her.
"Woah, woah, woah, stop! We aren't going to hurt her. Dammit, Aiden, stop scaring her. We trust you, and now I understand everything. When you explained to us that night, I had a hunch you weren't saying the full truth. But now I understand, and I am sorry for Sira; she just can't keep things in her stomach," Lydia said.
"What?" Sira exclaimed. "You get mad at me when I lie to you."
"Babe, you should know the borderline on which ones I will get mad and which ones I won't," Lydia said, kissing her forehead.
I smiled and looked back at Ava, smiling at her. "So are you guys okay now? I mean, is everything okay between the two of you?" Andrea asked. I smiled towards her and nodded my head.
"Phew, now that this is done, only one problem is there on our hands."
"And that is?" Diana asked.
"The Rougues," Ava said.
"Hey, I am Sira, although we have met before, but this is my wife, Lydia," Sira introduced Ava and Lydia, shaking their hands, and one by one, everyone introduced themselves.
"I never imagined I would be shaking a hand with a Vampire. This is so cool, I can brag this too." Sira said with a flicker and enjoyment in her eyes and body language as if she had just met the God himself.
"No Sira, you cannot utter a word about this to anyone, you will be putting Ava's life in danger by doing this." Lydia said making her understand.
"Okay, so like, can we know how are you guys planning to stop the Rougues? We all want to help too," Noah said.
.................
After spending two hours explaining everything, more like Ava explaining to them what their goal and motive were towards the killings and kidnapping.
"That is insane," Steven said, getting more angry. "Now that we know where they are, why can't we just kill them? Why wait?"
"Because we don't know how powerful they are," Ava said.
"Bullshit, you are what you say, Elder, the OG vamps. They should be scared of you," Jack said in frustration.
"Reminding you, I am adopted, and my brother, so not Elders by blood, except my parents," Ava stated the fact.
"What about the other girls who were kidnapped? What about them? Are they alive or dead?"
"I don't know; some would be dead if they aren't useful to them," Ava replied.
"What are we supposed to do now then?"
"Well, I have a plan," I turned my head, looking at her, wondering when she thought of it, and if she did have a plan, why didn't she suggest it before.
"We can probably invade their place during the nighttimeâ"
"Wait, at night? Don't you think they would be out hunting?" Aiden interrupted.
"Not the boss. The plan is to ambush their place. Now or never. Our New Year is supposed to start with no Rougues, no killing, and no kidnapping. We end it now. Straight-up attack, no plans."
I was shocked to hear her say this. She just wanted to dive in it, without any protection. But then again, why does she need protection from anything? She is a Vampire, I would be the one needing protection.
"And when do you plan to invade their place?" Noah questions. Ava smiles. "Tomorrow."
"What?" Andrea says.
"No," I say, matter of fact. No way in hell am I letting her or anyone go there without any plan. We don't even know exactly how many people are there. What if, in a matter of days, he might have doubled the number of people? He is stronger. The man is not even scared of the Elder Vamps. That does mean something, right? He is not scared, and going into his territory without any plan is straight-up stupidity.
"Liv, we don't want any more girls to be kidnapped, and having innocent men's bodies in the alley, right?"
"That doesn't mean we go on a suicide mission with no plan, Ava."
"I know, but we do have a good number of people, right, to be with us? Look at us, we are strongâhuman FBI, hunters, and don't forget the important people here, the Vamps. I do think we can save the girls who are there, waiting for someone to help them go home. Isn't that your motive, helping others?"
"Ava, help others by not putting your life in danger."
"And what do you do, Liv? You are an officer yourself; you put your life in danger. For God's sake, you are a hunter too."
"That's different, Ava. I chose this life to protect others' lives, not you. You didn't choose, but you are choosing it now and not thinking clearly."
"When did I ever want to be a Vampire, Liv? I don't recall choosing to be an orphan at an early age, but I was. I don't remember being a daughter of the Elder or falling in love with a human, did I? Nothing in life goes according to plan or what you choose."
I looked back at the people who can back me up, but with the looks on their faces, it was clear that I was the only one who was opposed to this idea.
"I guess all of you agree with her?" I asked.
"I don't know about others, but then I think the earlier we attack and save the girls, the better. What if the girls are alive, and we aren't too late for it?" Diana chimed in.
I nodded my head. "Okay then, as you all wish, we will go tomorrow night," I said and walked out of the cabin, clearly needing a minute to think. Why am I the only one thinking differently than others? Do they really want to go on a suicide mission?
Not realizing I was thinking too deeply, Lydia was standing beside me. "Wanna walk and talk?" she asked. I nodded my head and started walking.
"What happened?" she questioned.
I let out a deep sigh. "I don't know. I am starting to think that I have become a selfish person who doesn't want to save the girls and is against everyone. I mean, everyone agreed, but not me. I thought everyone would put some sense into Ava and tell her that the plan is a good thing to do, but nope."
"What if you are not a selfish person? You are just thinking for people's safety. I mean, anything can happen; it's an operation against Vampires. Don't you think I am scared for Sira? Every single time she goes out for a mission, I make her promise me that she will come back to me, no matter what. She will come back to me and her kids. Many times I don't sleep at night, not until I hear her say that she is in her bed in the hotel and wishing me good night. But those are just deadly humans she was going against, but these are Vampires. I am scared as shit too, but I will make sure she promises me again that she will come back to me. Why? Because she chose this job to save people, I cannot stop what she likes to do. In her words, she gets the thrill" Lydia said, laughing.
I smiled too. "It does."
"See, something I will never understand because I am just a teacher. But I hope now you know what I am trying to say is all you gotta do is be positive and know nothing will happen," she said.
I nodded my head, understanding it. "But I don't wanna lose her; I just got her."
"Then you will be there with her tomorrow. You make sure nothing happens to her. Be happy that you have this opportunity. Many times, I feel like I am not keeping up my promise by being there and protecting Sira while she is outâher life in danger and I am at home," Lydia said.
I nodded my head. Before I could say something, we were interrupted by Chloe. I rolled my eyes, looking at her.
"Woah, that was fast," Lydia said. Chloe smirked. "I am a Vampire too." She nodded her head. "Why do I get a sense you hate me?" Chloe asked.
"I don't," I said. She doesn't need to know the truth. Although now I don't hate her, I just don't trust her at all.
"Anyways, I was sent here to call the both of you inside; there are more people inside. I think it's the wives and the kids of the officers," she said and left.
"What the fuck, why are they here?" Lydia said and ran inside the station, with me behind her.
