Earlier that morning Wang Qing drove Dayu to his workplace before he went to the station,reporting back to duty. His chief handed back his gun along with his batch.
"Brother,it's good to see you back," greeted Chengyu as soon as Wang Qing entered the station,followed by a loud cheer from his co-worker.
"Things are good?" asked Wang Qing the moment he took a sit.
"Like usual,if things are good we would be jobless" said the person next to him,followed by laughter.
"Our section is fine but crime section is restless nowadays" said Chengyu as he walked over to Wang Qing desk along with files on his hand.
"Restless?" asked Wang Qing. It's nothing unusual about crime section working overtime and having more work than their section.What unusual was the fact that Chengyu mentioned it.
"Series of murder occurred for the past couple of weeks,haven't you heard about it?The murderer is still free on the street and superintendent is urging them to catch whoever that is as soon as possible," explained another officer. Wang Qing simply nodded his head as he went through files on his table.
"What were you been doing for the past couple of weeks to miss such a hot news?" teased Chengyu. Wang Qing placed his finger on his lips,telling Chengyu to shut up. If they know that he been chasing after a guy for the past couple of weeks,they would probably laugh on his face.
"Do you know what's weird about those cases?" whispered another officer.Everyone suddenly gathered around,lending their ears and waiting to know.Wang Qing glanced over and pretended as if he has no interest.He wondered what could be weird about murder cases.
"I heard that all the bodies found are still breathing but their hearts are not beating.Their eyes turned pitch black.They still keep those bodies at the morgue,not knowing if they should marked them as dead or alive," explained the officer. Everyone gasped at the new information.
"Ayeeee- How can that be possible.You are making things up " said Wang Qing,expressing his doubt on what he just heard.
"What are you guys doing here?Is this free time?" a stern voice of a man caused them all to jump from their position.
"Salute sir" said everyone while standing upright when they realized it was their chief.
"Go back to your work.Wang Qing why are you still here?You are on patrolling duty today along with that newbie" ordered the chief as he pointed at a female sitting far at the corner.
Everyone went back to their seats. Wang Qing did not noticed that female earlier until just now. She stood up and showed a car key in her hand. Wang Qing nodded his head as he understood the signal. They both walked out,heading toward parking lot where police cars were neatly parked.Wang Qing in charge of driving and the female acted as his assistant.They left the station and drove to their assigned area.
"Sorry I did not noticed you earlier.When did you started working?" asked Wang Qing on their way.
"It's only been 10 days" she answered. Wang Qing nodded his head.
"They treat you well right," Wang Qing expressed his concern for the new employee as she was the only female staff in their unit.
"Of course.How can they not when I am this beautiful," she chuckled,followed by Wang Qing. It's undeniable that she was indeed beautiful. A slim model like figure,fair white skin,red plump lips and glamorous curves.Anyone who laid their eyes on her would be dazzled by her beauty.
"Your name,what should I call you?" asked Wang Qing .His eyes were scanning for suspicious activities on the road.
"Xiaohui and you" she replied before asking "Do you have a girlfriend?"
Wang Qing was taken aback by the sudden personal question in their first meeting.He rotated the steering wheel as he took a left turn.
"Just call me senior and I have a lover" he answered. Xiaohui nodded her head. They proceed with their patrolling for another 2 hours before driving back to the station. Wang Qing kept quiet along the way though the female tried to have conversation with him. He dropped her by the gate as per her request. Wang Qing then drove off to Dayu's workplace. They made a promise to have lunch together.
When he arrived,Dayu was already waiting at the nearby bus station. Wang Qing immediately apologized for being a little late. Dayu just replied with a smile as he got into the car. He looked around,from the front seat to the back seat of the car before placing his brief case near his feet. Wang Qing turned his body and moved in closer as he helped Dayu put on his seat-belt. Dayu was holding his breath for a short while,thinking that Wang Qing wanted to kiss him. Wang Qing glanced before returning to his position and shifting the gear.
"Ohhh" Dayu exclaimed when he heard voice over the radio. It was his first time riding a police car.Everything look fascinating to him. Wang Qing could not help but to let out a small laugh over his lover behavior. Though the era changed but his lover still has the same attitude.
After sitting in the car for a while,a sudden thought hit Dayu's mind. "Is it fine to go around in this car?" asked Dayu,turning his head looking at Wang Qing.
"Don't worry.I am helping a citizen from starving so it's fine" answered Wang Qing with a smile on his face. Dayu cringed from hearing that answer.
They had take away lunch and parked the car at nearby riverside,enjoying their food in the car.Wang Qing helped Dayu cleaned up his hands with a wet tissue before they started eating. He also helped Dayu opened up a water bottle. He sure spoiled his lover a lot. Dayu just let Wang Qing had his way with things.After all,they waited hundreds of years to be together.
"How's work?" asked Wang Qing while unwrapping his burger.
"The client that I suppose to meet today did not show up.Weird.This is the second time,I am starting to think that I got cheated.How's yours?" Dayu took a sip before continue eating.
"Did you call them?I was with a new female officer patrolling the area until just now."
"New officer?" Dayu paused.He set his food aside and looked at Wang Qing who enjoyed his meal.He thought for a while and opened his mouth "Listen,never tell your name to strangers"
"Hmmm?" Wang Qing took a final bite of his burger.He lifted his head,looking back at Dayu with a confused expression.
"Understand?" asked Dayu. Wang Qing nodded his head as he gulped down his food.Though he understand nothing from that warning but he figured that Dayu probably had his own reason.
Wang Qing reached out his hand,wiping off bread crumb from the corner of Dayu's lips and flashed his smile. "Finish your food,lunch time almost over" he said.
They headed back to Dayu's workplace after lunch. An hour and half just not enough for them but since they lived together,they can continue their conversation later at night.
"Work well.Call me when you are done,I will come and pick you up," said Wang Qing. He held Dayu's hand and brought it close to his face. He kissed the back of Dayu's hand while looking at his lover with a longing gaze. Dayu frowned his brows and looked around. Dayu still awkward with affection shown by his lover. He quickly let go of his hand and got down from the car.
Driving back to the station,Wang Qing was all smiley. His co-workers teased him when they saw him suddenly smiling to himself. They said people in love are sometimes crazy.Well,Wang Qing probably one of them. While Wang Qing was flipping files on his table,a note fell down to his feet. He bent down and picked it up. His eyes carefully followed words written on that piece of paper. He looked around,searching for the owner of that handwriting. He asked the officer next to him and learnt that Xiaohui went patrolling with another officer. Wang Qing sat down thinking why would Xiaohui sent him note with her number and address written on it but soon forgot about it as he was busy with his reports.
That evening he went to pick Dayu from work as promised.They had dinner outside before headed back to Wang Qing's apartment. Dayu was not allowed to stay at his apartment until they know for sure who broke in the other night. Dayu still continue his work at home.Wang Qing pretended as if he was watching the television when he actually kept glancing over to see if Dayu still working. Wang Qing ended up going to bed. He plopped his body on the soft mattress while running his arm on the other side. Wang Qing took another look at the door,hoping Dayu will show up. He sighed.
"Are you asleep?"
Wang Qing opened his eyes. He blinked few times,trying to have a closer look at the person. It was Dayu,laying down just beside him.
"Done with your work?" he asked,extending his arm so Dayu can place his head on top of it. Dayu nodded as he moved in closer. Wang Qing turned his body facing Dayu,placing his other arm on Dayu body and pulled him closer into his embrace. His nose instantly caught a fresh fragrant of Dayu shampoo.
"No matter what happen,you will always protect me right?" asked Dayu as he lifted his face,looking at the sleepy face of Wang Qing.
"Always" answered Wang Qing half asleep.
"No matter what i do,you will not get mad at me right?"
Wang Qing nodded his head before moved his face down and kissed Dayu's forehead. Dayu smiled.He moved his face closer to Wang Qing chest. They had to wait over centuries to finally be together. Dayu refused to let Wang Qing go by any mean. Dayu exhaled an amount of air as he wrapped his arm around Wang Qing's body. Dayu was not busy with his work earlier but he was planning something. A plan that out of Wang Qing thinking,a dangerous plan but he willing to take the risk as long as he can be with his fated person.
