Wang Qing kept walking back and forth in his room thinking how can he find Dayu's whereabouts. Ever since he encountered that mysterious man,his mind kept on thinking about him. It's like there is some force of attraction. Wang Qing has to find out more about Dayu but he can't just suddenly show up in front of that man for no reason.
He sat at the edge of his bed for a while before he got up. He repeated the same action over an over again for the past an hour. He finally gave up when his stomach started rumbling. It's already past lunch time but he lost track of time thanks to Dayu.
Wang Qing locked his door before he took an elevator to the ground floor. On his way down,he received a call from his co-worker,Chengyu. Right!I could just ask him to investigate about Dayu. But that would be illegal! Wang Qing sometimes forgot that he is an officer.
"Yes,what?" asked Wang Qing the moment he picked up the call.
"Are you free later on?Let's go and have some fun," invited Chengyu.
"No,i am busy" replied Wang Qing. He got off once the elevator reached ground floor.
"What?You have plenty of free time now.See you at the same bar we used to go alright," pursued Chengyu.
"Fine," agreed Wang Qing before he ended the call. He took  small step at a time,walking toward 24-hours store right across the street.
Wang Qing wandered around the store,walking from one lane to another,not knowing exactly what to buy. He stopped in front of cup noodles area for a while and walked off,not picking any. He then stopped in front of cold drink section,scanning over drinks inside the huge refrigerator. His eyes maybe looking at all those neatly arranged cans and bottles of drink but his mind was elsewhere.
"Urgh!Dayu!" he groaned. He kept telling himself not to think of that man but failed to do so.
"Yes?" A sudden voice was heard right beside him.
"Huh?" Wang Qing turned his head,searching for the source of the voice he just heard. To his surprise,Dayu was seen standing beside him while looking at him with a puzzled look. Wang Qing raised his brows,thinking if he started seeing things.
"You look like as if you are seeing a ghost," said Dayu as he softly chuckled.
"No..I mean..What are you doing here?" Wang Qing was a little nervous.
"I am running out of juice," said Dayu while pointing at few bottles of juice in his basket.
"Oh,me too." Wang Qing nodded."Do you live around here?," asked Wang Qing,trying to dig in some information from Dayu.
"Yes.At that building over there,across the street," said Dayu in cheerful tone of voice.
"Eh?Me too.Building C." Jackpot!
"Really?Mine is building D.Wow,we are neighbors all this time," said Dayu while smiling."Are you having a day off?" asked Dayu.
"Yes yes,i am.What about you?" Wang Qing actually happy knowing that Dayu lives nearby. His happiness showed up on his face as he unconsciously smiling.
"I am working from home today,finishing my design.Oh,i should get going now," said Dayu as he politely excused himself.
"Dayu!Are you perhaps..free tonight?My friends and i are going to the bar later on,do you want to join us?" invited Wang Qing right before Dayu walks away.
"I am not sure about that.Can you give me your number instead?So i can give you a call if i want to go along." Dayu took out his cellphone.
Wang Qing gladly exchanged his number with Dayu. If he knew this would happen,he won't waste his time on thinking earlier. They exchanged greetings and part ways soon. Wang Qing came out from the store with nothing in his hands. As result,he had to cook a simple dish for himself using left over ingredients he had at home.
That night Wang Qing kept on looking at his cellphone,waiting for a call or perhaps text from Dayu,but he received none. Instead,he kept on receiving texts from Chengyu urging him to go to the bar. Feeling slightly annoyed,Wang Qing went down and started the car engine. Just when he's about to take a right turn,he spotted Dayu standing beside guard post. He honked his car,hoping that Dayu will notice him.
"DAYU" shouted Wang Qing once he rolled down his window.
Dayu  looked around and saw Wang Qing in a car. He walked over with a smile on his face.
"Hey- Sorry,i forgot about your invitation earlier," Dayu apologized.
"It's fine.What are you doing here?" Wang Qing looked around.
"I was waiting for a client but he suddenly has an urgent matter.Are you going out now?"
"Yes,i am.Come on in," Wang Qing invited Dayu,yet again.
Dayu hesitated for a moment but Wang Qing kept urging him. He gave in and got into the car,causing Wang Qing to smile in satisfaction.
It took only 15 minutes from their apartments to the bar by car. Along the way Dayu and Wang Qing talked a lot about their jobs. Wang Qing did not mention about the dream he had to Dayu. He was afraid that he might scare Dayu with that story.
They entered the bar soon after Wang Qing parked his car. Unlike any other bar,it was more reserved and calm. The air was filled with sound of soft jazz instrumental music and smell of mixed alcohols. The light was dim but they still manage to see few people sitting on the table and counter,having fun with their family and friends.
Wang Qing fasten his speed once he spotted his friend and Dayu followed closely behind.
"You know,you should stop asking me being a third wheel whenever you have date outside," greeted Wang Qing as he placed his hand on Chengyu's back before took a sit next to him at the counter. Dayu took a sit next to Wang Qing.
"Took you long enough," said Chengyu. His date smiled and greeted Wang Qing.
"Oh,right!Guys,this is Dayu," Wang Qing introduced those strangers to themselves."Dayu,this is my co-worker Chengyu and the other one is Qiushi."
They cheerfully exchanged greetings among themselves.
"What would you like to drink gentlemen?," asked the bartender.
"I would have the usual please.What about you?" Wang Qing turned to Dayu.
"Beer please." The bartender smile and went to prepare the drinks.
"So Dayu..what do you do for living?" asked Chengyu before sipping his drink.
"I am an interior designer," said Dayu while smiling.
"I have no idea what that is,but that sound like a cool job," Chengyu chuckled for a bit.
"Then what do you think of this bar interior?" interrupted Qiushi.
"I think it's good.Well actually,i am the one designing this interior." Dayu giggled.
"Ohhhhhhhhhhh-" all the other 3 said that at the same time.
Qiushi mentioned that he once dreaming of being a designer too but due to lack of creativity,he turned into a chef instead. Chengyu patted his tummy while smiling,indicated that he is well fed. Three of them had conversation while Wang Qing just silently sipping his drink while listening to their talk.
"Qing dear,you should've told me that you are coming," a woman appeared and gave a light peck on Wang Qing's cheek. Dayu diverted his gaze.
"It was last minute decision," said Wang Qing as he gave a light peck on the woman's cheek.
"Who is this fine gentleman beside you,is he with you guys?," she asked once she spotted Dayu presence.
"Wang Qing's new acquaintance,Dayu." Chengyu cut in before Wang Qing could properly introduce Dayu.
"Nice name.I am A Lin,a hostess here" she said while smiling seductively. They both shook hand."You guys have fun alright,and call me if you need anything," A Lin said in cheerful voice before she leans in and whispered to Wang Qing ear. Wang Qing nodded. A Lin waved as she walked away and continued her job.
"She is pretty," exclaimed Dayu.
"You can't have her,she is Wang Qing's woman," said Qiushi,causing Dayu to giggle.
"I only compliment her look.I have no interest in her" explained Dayu.
"Then are you interested in me?" Chengyu said as he wriggled his brows. Qiushi pinched Chengyu tight causing him to scream in pain. Both Dayu and Wang Qing laughed.
"No thanks.I have a girlfriend," Dayu said once he stopped laughing.
Wang Qing quickly turned his head and asked for confirmation "You have a girlfriend?"
Dayu nodded.Both Chengyu and Qiushi looked at each other. Â Suddenly the atmosphere turned awkward. Â Wang Qing loss of word to say. They spent another hour before parted ways.
On the way home,Wang Qing and Dayu were both quite.
"Thank you for tonight" Dayu said once they arrived at their apartment buildings. Wang Qing faintly nodded. He silently watched Dayu from afar as he slowly disappeared in the dark. On their way up,they both had the same thought.
"Why do i feel heartache knowing that he has girlfriend?"
