XG 90 - Sinnyeom Hospital

"Why do you let me join when it's an important mission?" Wong Xue Guo asked, uneasy.

"Not enough help. Your skills are also better than beginners not used to killing zombies, so it's better than nothing," Kang Xunsu said.

"Is that why Mr. Vihaan joined us?"

With no L.L in the team, Vihaan took over the driving but Kang Xunsu was still the one reading the map. Does he have some sort of liking towards map reading?

"The research met a bottleneck so I'm not needed for now. There's also Mr. Song and Yuna if they need to test something," Vihaan said.

Wong Xue Guo was assured the scientists were not conducting evil research, as Vihaan was not a fool or that self-sacrificing to undergo inhuman torturous experiments if it was. He also looked fine and was not acting like an imprisoned person that will seek the chance to escape.

But he looked very thin and unhealthy.

"Could you talk about the research to us?" Wong Xue Guo asked guardedly.

"As long as it's only with our trusted people, it's fine. It's not exactly a secret," Vihaan assured, but she was still doubtful.

The scientist had finally discovered how to identify who has the gene and who does not have it. After solving that issue, they proceed to research on how to activate and deactivate the gene, but their result was fruitless even with the help of Miu's prediction ability. Their testing was too broad and far away from their goal to check the result with her ability.

Perhaps God pitied them because it was at such a right moment that they fished out a spy hiding among them and got some useful news.

"Today's mission is to find whether the spy's words are true or not," Kang Xunsu said.

"What did that spy say?"

"That spy had sold one of the gene samples to the Sinnyeom hospital, where we are going to.”

With such a large vast area of land occupied by Musihada Laboratory, it would be hard to believe if no one was curious about what they were researching. They had expected there would be some people infiltrating their lab to spy on them and no matter how good their security was, it was difficult to guard against everyone.

Wong Xue Guo had seen a few movies where it was the spy that caused the experiment to let loose and thus, the virus broke out.

“the transaction is before the breakout happens. From his mouth, they are researching the gene in a different direction than our scientists, so their findings might be useful. Our objective today is to retrieve the research results, that's why we need Jackson. Choi Yerim will be collecting medicine and drugs we are running low."

Vihaan sighed as he dodged the cars parked randomly on the road. "The spy does not know which floor the files would be but he knew it was the east building. We might need to go through every floor to search for the laboratory."

So they would definitely be cleaning up most of the zombies in the hospital while searching. Just thinking about the number of patients, visitors, doctors, and nurses that had turned into zombies were already stressful.

Like always, the drive was peaceful with no zombies bothering them. Till now, Wong Xue Guo still does not understand why. Could it be that the winter also made them feel it was a hassle to break down a car to get to the humans?

The zombies had also evolved into a new look, and till now, she could not decide if it looked better or worse. They no longer have much flesh left on them, as they were rotting so quickly that winter was useless in delaying the process and gradually revealed more of their pristine white bone. The smell could make one faint from it if it was summer, but luckily it was winter and by the time the season changed, most of their flesh might have already rotten away.

Perhaps the most disturbing sight was their heart residing between their ribcage, beating rather healthy like a weird demonic bright red fruit from the movies.

They stopped their car at the east side of the hospital, where Do Eunhyuk had said there would be survivors. They were also the ones that chased their group out after Do Eunhyuk was bitten.

It would have been preferable if they were able to enter the building without alerting the survivors, but they still wanted to warn them of what they were about to do. With most of their team members using guns, their movement will definitely be big and noisy. It would be especially so if Vihaan used his ability and had some walls or floors crumble away.

It was still morning and without electricity, they could hardly see into the hospital with the tinted glass. The survivors should have locked the door, but strangely, the entrance of the hospital was wide open, with a large amount of blood spilled on the floor.

“Is that a gun?” Wong Xue Guo pointed at a spot close to the spilled blood.

“We don’t know what’s going on inside. In any case, get ready for anything.” Kang Xunsu connected the walkie-talkie to Team B. “Team B, ready?”

“Ready. Just say the word.” Beom Seok’s voice echoed from the other line.

“Everyone clear about our mission?” Kang Xunsu asked.

“Clear.”

Wong Xue Guo wore a face mask, followed by Chen Yibo doing the same and they got out of the car with weapons out.

"Little miss, you stay behind me." Hong Yan rolled his tongue around his lollipop, causing his words to slur slightly. His bandaged hand was gripping steadily over his metal bat and his red hair was as passionate as his thirst for violence.

At first, she pondered over how to get her father’s gang members not to call her ‘young miss’, as it was rather attention-catching to call her that. But seeing how they easily call her father ‘Boss’ and her mother ‘Madam’ and her parents not minding it, with the attitude that they should be called so, she decided to let the matter go.

It was the first time she was in the same team as Hong Yan, so she was not sure how he would kill zombies with a metal bat with no sharp ends. But seeing his confidence radiating from him, she assumes he has his own way.

“Thank you.” Since you don’t mind, I will happily accept your shetler~

Choi Yerim was signaled to join Team A, so the couple had to be momentarily separated. The other coupleless chose to ignore such an eyesore display of affection and the Captain of Team B urged Jackson to get moving. The couple shared a passionate kiss, treating it as their last before they joined their group.

Team A with Choi Yerim will search for the medicines, which they knew the location from the building map. Team B with Jackson will search for the secret experiment records. Team A will likely finish their mission first, and will immediately reunite with Team B to help out.

Both teams prefered using Vihaan than wasting their bullets, who specialize in breaking down any locks or doors that stopped them from getting what they want. Alas, the only downside to having no doors meant that there would not be a secure hideout if they needed to hide.

Vihaan will also be leading the way, as even if he was bitten, he will only get terribly sick and not dead as his gene had already completed its activation. It was a cruel lineup, but he volunteered and the others gave in with lighter hearts.

Kang Xunsu picked up the gun from the floor that Wong Xue Guo had spotted, checked that it was empty of bullets, and tossed it away.

Wong Xue Guo walked around the blood stains as they made their way into the building.

Lee Su-Hwa had told them the hospital had survivors occupying the first and second floor of the east side, but strangely, there was no sign of them. The candles were half-burned as if they were extinguished by the wind.

"The blood is quite fresh. Everyone, on guard." His lazy state no longer in view, Kang Xunsu removed his gun's safety pin and equipped his other hand with a knife.

They found two zombies crouching at the corner, clearly eating something, which they quickly killed. After checking there were no more zombies on the ground floor, they concluded the survivor had either died or been forced to relocate. Either way, it saved them from needing to communicate with the survivors.

It also means they could go wild and even destroy the entire building. However, knowing that this was a hospital with medical equipment and supplies, it was best to restrain their destruction.

“The supplies are on the fifth floor. Team A will go straight to that floor. Team B will go over every floor. Communicate if anything happens. We will join you after we are done,” Kang Xunsu went over the plan with the group before splitting up. “Questions?”

“No!”

“Then move out."
