XG 148 - Both of them were daughters of Moretti
Surprisingly, the number of survivors in Zinnia country was only slightly more than in other countries. Zinnia country reportedly has the most people with weapons as the rule of civilians not allowed carrying firearms was rather lax, which means most of them have the ability to protect themselves.
However, reality proved that not everyone knew how to use their deadly weapon well.
But that sentence does not include the large mafia clans in Zinnia. There were many large clans that survived well, with a good chain of command and plentiful weapons to protect themselves.
It was only half an hour ago that the previously prestigious and noble mansion that belonged to one of the most influential clans was completely wrecked with metal poles the size of streetlights impaled all over the place. Guns and a large number of men could never hold up against a man with a powerful supernatural ability.
Ta Kei pushed up his glasses as he stared fixedly at his laptop screen, which was displaying the live session of what was going on inside Moretti's mansion with his flying drone. As the situation had more or less calmed down and reaching the climax, he finally released his grip on the drone controller to massage his aching fingers.
His family's boss was truly fierce with his ability, controlling every metal he could reach, twisting their shape into sharp poles and ruthlessly damaging the Moretti's property into shambles. It would have been an enjoyable scene if Ta Kei was not forced to focus all his attention on controlling his drone to dodge every incoming metal pole.
With a gun pointing at her forehead, the woman in a revealing black dress holds up her hands to show she was unarmed. "My mother was told to attack your laboratory, to stop you from messing with their plans. You have already killed her and everyone involved in this place. I have no plans to get your way and there's no need to kill me."
"I prefer having no loose ends."
Suzie Yap's half-sister backed up until her naked back hit the bloody wall when the gun continue to apply pressure on her forehead. "I gave my word that I will not do anything to you."
"Does your word mean anything?" Suzie Yap mocked. "Tell me everything you know about those people that your dearest mother colluded with."
"How could I possibly know anything about them? It's only my mother that deals with them, not allowing me to meet them at all. Their arrival is always done secretly and without anyone knowing other than my mother and her secretary. You killed them, the people that know those people."
"You don't know?" Suzie Yap shot her left leg and watched indifferently as her half-sister crumbled to the floor, clutching her bleeding leg with a twisted expression. "You are really good with pillow talk, so your lover should have told you many things."
Alice Moretti clenched her teeth so that no scream would escape her mouth, which was the only thing she could do to preserve her remaining dignity. Towards this half-sister that was nine years older than her, there was no familial love, as her mother had long told her that Suzanne Moretti was only a hindrance to them for getting what they deserved.
Both of them were daughters of Moretti, with an equal chance to compete for leadership. So why would Suzanne Moretti be favoured by their father to be the next head? Just because she was older? Or being his child with his first wife?
It was only after Suzanne fled from Zinnia country did Alice was exposed to the pressure of being the next head without much time to bask in the glory. Her mother may be helping her, but she was not knowledgeable in controlling a large mafia clan or able to take lead in forming successful dealings with slippery people. They were just cheated by Diego, her father's trusted partner, who viewed the mother and daughter as an easy target than Suzanne when it comes to taking over the Moretti clan from their hands.
"Diego never tells me anything. He only views me as a fool to look pretty in his arms."
Suzie Yap smirked. "True that. You are nothing more than a gullible fool. Good thing you had finally realised that before your death."
Alice could not hide the spark of relief that flashed in her eyes. "Do you believe me?"
Suzie Yap cocked her head to a side. "Maybe? But I never liked to gamble."
From the screen, Ta Kei watched Suzie Yap shoot Alice Moretti's forehead, instantly ending her life. Based on the brief knowledge of his lady boss' character, he had thought she would not let her half sister die so quickly.
His musing was interrupted when his communication earpiece crackled with an incoming voice.
"Did you find it?"
"On it, boss." Getting caught for slacking off, Ta Kei swiftly controlled the drone to fly around to search for any hidden area, not that there were many anymore with how their boss wrecked every corner of the house. But it was also troublesome when the wall collapsed and hid any hidden area. "Ah, Brother Lam, I think I saw a spot-!"
Crack!
The screen was instantly blackened out, as something too fast had smashed onto the drone.
"Something, Ta Kei?" Brother Lam asked when Ta Kei stopped his sentence.
"Yeah, go to this location. My drone got destroyed. There should be something there. Be careful." Ta Kei hoped that place would have some useful information, or else whatever it was did not need to destroy his drone. If destroying his drone was an accident, that must be a really impactful coincidence.
Unfortunately, he only got one drone, so he would have to join others to scout around now.
Just when Ta Kei was about to turn off his laptop, his right eyelid suddenly twitched erratically, giving him a bad feeling.
He quickly slammed his laptop lid shut without his usual careful and loving movements. Stuffing his equipment into his luggage, he informed those connected to his communication line, "I'm coming to you guys now."
When he started to hear something coming above him, he hastened his speed with the packing and rushed to the exit when something sleek and cold wrapped around him, trapping his arms as well.
The luggage dropped to the ground, getting the attention of those that were still connected with the communication line.
"Ta Kei?"
What they heard from the other end of the line raised the hairs on their skin and Brother Lam told others to continue searching while he and Luo Si immediately dashed to Ta Kei's hideout.
"Ta Kei! We are coming!"
Ta Kei's scream along with the sound suspiciously like bones being crushed continued torturously, with the listeners feeling something was crawling up their scalp. They were just about to reach Ta Kei's location when the scream abruptly stopped after a loud crack. That uneasy silence boosted their running speed.
"Shit! Ta Kei!"
When they finally broke into the hideout, what they saw was the dead Ta Kei, whose bones were crushed from the waist up under the dark red skin.
"What in the fucking hell is going on?!"
From the crime scene, they concluded that Ta Kei had to feel his bones being crushed without a chance to save himself. Whoever did this made sure to leave before the backup arrived. Ta Kei was only released from the pain when that murderer broke his neck.
"Which sick bastard is it!" Brother Lam cursed angrily, especially when there was no hint of who that person was. That person was not an ordinary person but an Awaken, to be able to cause this sort of injury!
Alone in an underground cellar, Fortune Teller Shang's eyelashes trembled fiercely before parting open, revealing completely black eyes and sclera.
The yellow paper in his hands caught onto flame that started out of thin air, eating up the entire paper in just mere seconds. "That noble person finally appeared."
There were still many names on the list that had not been crossed out yet, but he already knew who was the one. Fortunately, his gamble was right and had the foresight to make appropriate plans to divert the Lord's attention away from that person.
With the fake enemy, that person would be safe and have the time to completely master their ability.
Then... Fortune Teller Shang would bring that noble person to end the Lord's life.
