XG 186 - To use the power for good or evil

["That power of yours belonged to the devil, but the power itself is not evil in nature. The user themselves is the one that decides whether to use the power for good or evil,"] the shaman surprisingly explained.

It does ease the stinging from her earlier words.

["But the power will still hurt you?"]

["Yes. My power comes from another source that clashes with your energy. It will cause turbulence to my core if I accept your energy."]

["Then is there a way to help you get better?"]

Shaman Ji's fingers twitched. ["Those methods are forbidden. It's forbidden to go against the law of nature."]

["Will you accept it if I transfer the energy from plants to you?"]

["It will still be your energy even if you do that."]

["I think Shaman Ji will get better if injected with a nutrient solution,"] Chen Yibo said.

Bel Eum was puzzled when Chen Yibo and Wong Xue Guo kept on staring at her grandmother without speaking. What was even stranger was her grandmother was also looking at them, seemingly holding a serious conversation with their eyes.

Could it be a demonic power that they have?

Once Bel Eum heard that the nutrient solution could likely improve Shaman Ji's health, she immediately ignored her grandmother's protest.

They had to go to Musihada Laboratory!

"Grandmother, I'm willing to listen to your last wish when I believe there's nothing to help you. Now, how can I still leave you to die if there's a way to save you? Don't make me a murderer for killing you, grandmother!"

Shaman Ji closed her eyes, letting her granddaughter do what she wanted. If whatever solution they said could really make her better, she could protect her granddaughter longer.

But if she became a burden, she would not hesitate to meet her maker before she took her last breath naturally.

The duo stepped out of the temple to wait for the rest to finish packing, while L.L. and Max went to find another working car. The car they came with was not enough to hold eleven additional people.

There was no zombie around, so they were reassured that Max and L.L. would be fine.

There were a total of eight survivors, excluding Shaman Ji and her granddaughter. Spending more effort, Chen Yibo confirms that they have no problem. Even if he was unable to read Shaman Ji and her granddaughter's minds, he was sure they were good people with how they selflessly provided shelter for the eight people.

The other reason for them to wait outside was for Chen Yibo to read the minds of people that were still eying the temple.

To his surprise, some of them actually knew the attacker's habits. In their mind, the enemy was a young-looking foreigner man, who punctually stopped attacking when mealtime arrived. He would take two hours for his meals, before coming back to 'work' right on time.

Dinner had already passed, and now was the time for late supper. A very late supper.

Shaman Ji was truly strong enough to resist the attack for so long, even if the attacker would sleep for eight hours.

Other than those important details, Chen Yibo was disappointed with other things that he found.

Just how cruel and indifferent they were towards other people's plight?

Not only that, they were even using the shaman to clean up the zombies for them without even offering their help. Even if they do not know the shaman risked her own life to defend the temple, that does not give them an excuse for doing so.

"We only found one car with enough petrol to last until we reached the base," L.L. reported bad news.

"Do we need to go further to search...?" Max's expression was hoping they say he would not need to.

Wong Xue Guo arched an eyebrow. "Unless you no longer mind having them stay behind?"

"Definitely not! I will look for another car!"

"I have a car," Duck Hwan, the middle-aged man, said. His house was just a street behind the temple, so it was not difficult to reach there.

Chen Yibo's expression changed after knowing which house. It was a big house, only affordable to a family with a decent income. That size alone was enough to tempt other people. "There's a group of people inside."

And they do want to share what they got, even if it was the owner that returned.

"Wow, Uncle Duck Hwan, not only are you rich, but you are also good at finding a powerful backer," Max expressed his adoration.

Duck Hwan was a picture of humbleness. "A coincidence."

Duck Hwan was the first that sought shelter in the temple after the outbreak, as he often visited the temple whenever he had the time. The temple always helped him in clearing his mind and calm his anxious heart. Perhaps because of his dedication and generous donation to the temple, God blessed him with his protection through Shaman Ji.

As expected, the negotiation failed.

Except for Wong Xue Guo from the Musihada group, the other two had barged into Duck Hwan's home.

It would be fun to join in to add more mess, but someone needs to keep an eye on the survivors and Shaman Ji.

They got the rightful owner's permission, while the intruders did not and refused to give in. In every sense, they were the right party!

If the intruders allowed them to take the car, it would have ended peacefully. Since the intruders refused to do the right thing, L.L. did not bother being 'polite' and grabbed everything important in the house, and of course, the cars.

No matter how good the intruders were, they were just normal civilians before the outbreak and could not be compared to the professionally trained L.L. and Chen Yibo.

From the fight, Chen Yibo also found out that his mind reading was not so useful in a fight, especially with people that use instinct and reflexes to fight. Only those that take time to strategize and think would find Chen Yibo a tough opponent.

After they finished clearing out the intruders, the others went in to help move useful things.

"Mercedes!"

Duck Hwan has two Mercedes cars, one white and one black. Naturally, they take both, along with the car that they found earlier.

L.L. would be driving their car, Duck Hwan drove his own Mercedes, Max happily drove the second one, and the last car would be driven by Eun Kyung. As a mother, driving was essential, while the university couple does not have a license yet. Chung Cha does not have one either, preferred to use a bicycle as her mode of transport, as well as a way to maintain her legs' strength as an office clerk.

It was a good choice, for Chung Cha depended on the strength of her legs to run away in low heels during the outbreak.

The others separated into different cars, while the shaman and her granddaughter would be following L.L.'s car. Their priority was the shaman's safety after all.

"Oh no. He came back early!" Chen Yibo yelled anxiously, nearly hitting the back of his head against the car roof. Thanks to the onlookers hiding inside the building who were still spying on them, they also acted as his watch guards.

Chung Cha's expression changed. "Impossible. Did he get tipped off that we are leaving?"

"Continue what you are doing." Wong Xue Guo stepped out of the car, facing the direction where the enemy would be coming.

Chung Cha hesitantly glanced at Shaman Ji resting her head on her granddaughter's shoulder in the backseat of the car before turning to Max and asking in a whisper, "Max, are they reliable?"

"Well... I had only ever seen one of them fight before. But it should be fine, or else they won't only let three people rescue us?"

"... Let's clear the road. Grab any tools and help shove those dead bodies aside!" Chung Cha was not overly optimistic about the Musihada Group's strength and preferred to have no blockage when they ran away if things did not go well.

This housing area only has one shared exit, so they had to drive to the main road to leave. Unfortunately, the temple was built beside the main road and it was heavily littered with corpses.
