Chapter 664:
Carrie froze, her confidence crumbling. She glanced down at her bare feet and tugged at the hem of her bathrobe nervously.
Before she could finish, Kristopher leaned down and scooped her up effortlessly.
âHey!â she yelped, her legs flailing as she tried to wriggle free. âPut me down!â
Kristopherâs eyes flicked downward, the hint of a smirk playing at his lips. âIf you want everyone to see whatâs under your bathrobe, keep kicking. I donât mind.â
Upon hearing this, Carrie quickly crossed her legs and held her robe tightly closed, stopping her struggle.
Yet, she retorted with indignation, âDo you actually think everyone acts like you, constantly staring at women? I never realized you were such a creep.â
Kristopher paid no mind to her harsh words, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly in a smirk, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. He lifted Carrie effortlessly, carrying her from the side entrance to a room that was tastefully decorated in a simple yet elegant style, lacking the lavishness of the previous one but equipped with all the necessary amenities.
Curiously, Carrie inquired, âWhere are we?â
After setting Carrie down on the bed, Kristopher shut the door and said, âThis is the Webster familyâs guest lounge. I overheard a servant mention it when I arrived.â
While he made a phone call, Kristopher said, âOliver, could you send a womanâs suit to the Webster familyâs guest room? Something similar to what Carrie was wearing would be ideal.â
After ending the call, silence enveloped the room, punctuated only by the distant sounds outside. Kristopher and Carrie, now seated by the bed and standing by the door respectively, did not speak.
Approaching the bed with casual interest, Kristopher asked, âHow did you end up entangled with the Morrison family?â
With a sharp glance, Carrie responded, âWhat business is it of yours? Shouldnât you keep the distance appropriate for an ex?â
Ignoring her suggestion, Kristopher sat beside her, supporting himself with his hands behind him as he looked at her curiously. âIâll find out either way.â
Carrieâs demeanor chilled. âKristopher, when will you start respecting others?â
With sincerity in his voice, Kristopher replied, âI do respect you. Iâm just trying to protect you from these corporate sharks.â
Carrie retorted with a sneer, âIsnât that exactly what you are, a capitalist?â
At that moment, a series of knocks disrupted their conversation.noveldrama
Oliverâs voice filtered through the door, saying, âMr. Norris, are you there?â
âYes,â Kristopher responded as he rose and moved toward the door.
He cracked the door open just enough to shield Oliver from seeing inside. Without raising his gaze, Oliver handed over two bags, saying, âThese are the same as Mrs. Norrisâs suit, freshly picked up from the boutique.â
Relieved, Oliver was glad the boutique was right across the street from the Webster residence; otherwise, he would have been at a loss.
Accepting the bags, Kristopher murmured, âKeep watch at the door.â After thinking for a moment, he added, âMaybe step back a bit.â
