SEAN The red light turns green.
Iâm about to start the car again, but my body suddenly stiffens. my wolf rumbles menacingly sensing another wolfâa very very powerful wolfâin the vicinity.
âWho is thatââ
The figure of the man who was called the most powerful Alpha in a century appears in my mind.
And this man. On the street corner with Grace.
This man's figure looks very much Alpha Reed!
However, thatâs impossible. How could Jason possibly be by Grace's side? What a joke!
The driver in the car behind me honks his horn and I hit the gas quickly. But at this moment, the man standing beside Grace looks in my direction. His face contorting aggressively.
My whole body, even my wolf freezes.
"Jason?!"
Is it really him? Even if his current outfit and hairstyle are different from my impression of him, that face looks so similar to Jason Reedâs!
And the powerâ¦
It permeates the distance like a warning for any wolf to see.
My body stiffens as I drive through the light.
I debate pulling over or turning around. Every cell in his body wants me to whip a U-turn and go back for a second look. Because this canât be happening. I must be hallucinating.
The similarities, I can write off. But that signature Alpha presence? Thatâs not something physical, itâs metaphysical.
I rub my eyes, then my chest.
Doubting all my senses.
If this is Alpha Reed. With Grace.
I stagger as the possibilities take shape.
All of themâ¦will be disastrous for me.
Grace laughs up at me.
We ran a good half mile and sheâs been laughing and daring me to catch her. For a small female and a human, sheâs quick.
My wolf relished in the game.
Everything was going fine until we rounded the corner and I sensed the presence of another wolf.
I grabbed Grace reflexively.
Sheâd thought it all part of the game until sheâd seen my expression. âWhatâs wrong?â she asks worriedly.
âNothing.â
She tries to position herself in front of me which is just comical. Iâm practically twice her size and she pales in strength.
And a human against a wolf⦠itâs no contest.
I physically lift her up entirely and place her behind me.
âWhat is it?â
The Maybach rolled by and I watch the street, waiting to see if it will circle back. I donât think Sean is dumb enough to test his luck with me. But Iâve been wrong about people before.
âPlease,â she whispers. âYouâre scaring me. Whatâs going on?â
âItâs nothing,â I say.
âJay.â
"It's nothing. It's just that... I seemed to have seen a familiar face just now.â
âWas he your friend?"
"No, he and I aren't friends.â
We just might be enemies.

SEAN By the time I reach our lands, Iâm on the verge of shifting and it has nothing to do with the full moon rising and everything to do with the sight of Alpha Jason Reed standing hand-in-hand with my ex-
fiancee.
I rake a hand through my hair and whip the car around the circular drive in front of the mansion.
Dozens of cars line the driveway.
I need to calm the fuck down before I get out of this car because if I have to explain myself or what Iâve seen tonight, Iâm pretty sure itâll spark drama the likes of which my pack has never before seen.
Surely, I must be mistaken, or perhaps the person standing beside Grace was someone who looked similar to Alpha Jason. Of course, that was it. Wasnât it said that everyone had a doppelganger out there somewhere?
After all, how could a man like Jason, who was so powerful and wealthy, be with Grace?
Furthermoreâ¦vehicular manslaughter.
That alone would make the very notion of them being connected in some way completely improbably.
In what world would Jason Reed ever find himself with the woman who murdered his true love?
No one would believe me even if I were to say this out loud.
I get out of the car and slam the door.
I rub my eyes. I must really be tired. Or stressed.
My eyes were playing tricks on me.
My wolf Theo gives a rumble. I strip out of my shirt and toss it on the hood of my car. Next go my pants and shoes, my watch and socks and underwear.
When Iâm naked, I walk along the mansion toward the back of the grand house where close to a hundred of my pack mates are lined up, waiting for me.
Lily stands beside my father.
Her body is lean and strong. Sheâs flawless as far as I can see.
âYouâre late,â she tells me.
I smirk. âMy deepest apologies to keep you waiting.â
She bats her eyes at me. âYouâre always worth the wait, Sean.â
My father steps away now that Iâve arrived.
I take Lilyâs hand and we face the many men and women of my pack who have turned out for this fist run of the new season.
âMy friends,â I say, addressing them, one and all.
We are a proud pack. A strong one.
âThis night marks the first of many. Our strength shall only grow.â I hold up my and Lilyâs joined hands.
âOur families shall grow larger.â
My pack cheers.
âOur combined resources will ensure the future of Pack Stevens!â
There are roars and shouts of approval.
Lily looks at me then she walks proudly in front of my pack. Sheâs not the least bit shy nor should she be. My pack stares at her naked body and as she shifts into a stunning white wolf before their eyes, they cheer uproariously.
Iâm proud.
My wolf barks appreciatively.
I let him take over, shifting into my true form.
Iâm going to run hard tonight. Then Iâm going to fuck Lily senseless.
But my last thoughts before my wolf takes over arenât of feeling free or the pleasures to come.
My last thoughts are of Grace Cummins and Jason Reedâ¦
