...............
The grand royal hall of Rana echoed with tension as Varun stepped in , his voice laced with authority.
"We signed a bond, Princess! If Princess Indu dares to back off now, the kingdom of Virata will take this as an act of war!" his voice boomed, sending murmurs through the assembled nobles and ministers.
Anya, standing tall in her regal attire, barely flinched. Her lips curled into a sad smile, her dark eyes gleaming with defiance. "Ofcourse the treaty you would bring up that," she mocked, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "you speak of treaty our kingdoms signed But werenât you the ones who broke it first?"
Ivaan, who had been watching , raised an eyebrow he looked at Indu who refused to look up to his eyes.
He sat languidly, letting Varun take over one leg draped over the other, his fingers tracing the hilt of his sword. His presence alone commanded fear, but Anya remained unshaken.
Indu hated it how easy it all seemed to him forcing people to adhere to his wishes, she looked away unable to hide her disgust.
"According to the treaty, this wedding was only supposed to take place after my marriage to Prince Nayan of Nanda. But................... Prince Nayan is dead, isnât he? And with no legal heir to the Nanda's throne, your claim to this treaty is void. It was you who violated the agreement first. I am merely correcting the course."
A collective gasp rippled through the hall. Ministers exchanged glances, whispers slithered between noblemen, and even the guards stiffened.
Anya took a step forward, her voice unwavering. "So tell me, Your Highness, why should my sister be bound to a treaty that no longer holds? Or do you expect us to honor an oath something that only benefits you?"
The words struck hard. Varunâs jaw clenched. Ivaanâs knuckles tightened around his sword. And thenâa slow, eerie chuckle escaped his lips. He rose from his seat, the jewels on his robe catching the candlelight as he strode toward Anya.
The air shifted.
"You are right, Princess," Ivaan admitted, his voice dangerously soft. "The elder princess was to marry Prince Nayan. But nowâ¦" He tilted his head, his dark gaze unwavering. "Prince Nayan is dead, and his poor fiancée remains stranded here, alone, bound by nothing but grief."
Anya's eyes widened with fear as she took a step back. "You, you don't have to care about me Prince Ivaan."
Ivaan's lips curled into a sinister smile. " No, Princess Anya let me care for you after all you are my future sister in law. This is justice. The prince's death was a tragedy, but it has given me an opportunity to correct the wrongs of this world."
Indu, trembling, asked finding it disturbing even now he was smirking. "Prince Ivaan, What ...do you mean by correcting the wrong?"
Ivaan's gaze shifted to Indu, his expression cold and unfeeling. "Oh, Indu, finally you are looking at me."
Anya's voice quivered as she spoke. "Ivaan, please don't do this. Leave my sister alone."
Ivaan laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the chamber. "Leave her? There is way that is happening. And as for the issue haunting us all ..........If I cannot bring the prince of Nanda back to life, then surely I can reunite these lovers... in heaven."
Before anyone could react, he unsheathed his sword in one swift motion. The blade gleamed ominously, catching the horrified reflection of Induâs wide eyes. A single heartbeat of silence passedâ
Thenâa sharp, merciless slash.
A crimson arc painted the air.
Anyaâs head tilted back unnaturally, a spray of blood bursting forth, warm and glistening, spattering across Induâs pale cheeks, across the polished marble floor, across the very treaty they once honored. The silence that followed was deafening. The scent of iron filled the chamber.
Indu screamed.
It was not a cry of mere sorrowâit was raw, broken, animalistic. She lunged forward just in time to catch Anyaâs limp body as it collapsed, her sisterâs weight sinking into her arms.
Blood. So much blood. It gushed from Anyaâs neck, pooling beneath them, spreading like an omen of doom across the hall. Induâs trembling hands pressed desperately against the wound, as if she could force the life back into her sister.
"No. No, no, no!" her voice cracked as her hands, slick with Anyaâs blood, shook violently. "Please, Didi, stay with me! God, please! Please donât leave me!" Her sobs racked her body, her forehead pressing against her sisterâs,
"In..du....... I'm sor...huhh .....ah..run awa..hh." Anya took her last sigh broken words barely audible with her breath heavy and itched her body stopped moving anymore her body went limp.
warm tears mixing with the blood smeared across Indu's face. "No.....
No......No.... please....
Open your eyes! Please.....Say somethi...ng! Anything!......didi pleas...e.stay with me" Indu whispered so softly it was hardly audible over her sobs.
But there was no response.
Anya was gone.
The court stood in shock, the nobles frozen in horror, unable to comprehend what had just happened. A queen had fallen. A princess had been slaughtered. And at the center of it all, Indu cradled her sisterâs lifeless body, rocking back and forth, her wails piercing through the suffocating silence.
Ivaan, his blade still dripping with blood, watched with cold, detached amusement. He took a step forward, his voice chillingly casual.
"Well, that settles the matter, doesnât it? The elder princess is finally reunited with her prince. And nowâ¦" His gaze flickered to Indu, a slow smirk curling his lips. "Shall we discuss your wedding, dear princess?"
Induâs breath hitched. Her grief-stricken sobs turned into a ragged, shuddering inhale. Her hands clenched Anyaâs cold body tighter, as if holding on could somehow bring her back.
"Anya, please⦠donât go. Please! Donât leave me alone! Anya please.... I'll listen to your every order....i..i..ill never complain or ..or not listen to you.... please... please please..... Anya don't leave me alone.here...." Her voice cracked, the weight of her heartbreak tearing through her chest.
"I canât live without you! You promised...... me youu promised......âwe were supposed to be together! You were supposed to protect me!" Her nails dug into Anyaâs lifeless arms as her vision blurred with endless tears.
"Come back! Come back, please!......"
Her cries turned into heaving sobs, her body shaking violently. She pressed her forehead against Anyaâs bloodied one, her entire being consumed with despair.
"Iâll do anything! Anything! Just open your eyes! Please, Didi!"
Her wails echoed through the chamber, louder than any decree, more powerful than any army. The entire kingdom bore witness to a love so deep, so raw, that even death itself felt cruel in its finality.
The silence of the court, the blood on the floor, the weight of her broken voiceâit was a requiem for a sister lost.
Indu let out a final, soul-wrenching scream, one that shook the heavens themselves. And in that moment, something inside her shattered.
