Chapter 10 Unexpected Encounter
Just as Amelia had done with her preparation, Kevin sent his assistant, Mark, to pick her up.
Sitting in that Maybach, she thought Mark would drive her to Kevinâs place, but she was taken to a mall.
Stylists and makeup artists surrounded her, curling up her waist-length hair and applying exquisite makeup to her face.
She was dressed in an expensive evening gown, tailored to fit her perfectly.
A diamond necklace that worthed millions was put on her neck.
Amelia looked at herself in the mirror. Noble, elegant, and refined. But she didnât feel like herself. She looked more like Emily.
If James had seen her like this, he might have thought she was trying to mimick Emily.
She smiled bitterly.
Finally, Amelia was all dressed up, and Mark sent her to the Nightshade.
It was the largest entertainment club in Arcadia. People who came here were either rich or powerful.
The place could guarantee these people their privacy. There was virtually no security cameras around here. And even if there were, it would be difficult to obtain any footage.
Rich kids loved to do their nasty things at the Nightshade. Kevin probably also chose to bring Amelia here for the same reasons. Thinking about what she was about to go through, Amelia felt her heart was going to explode in her chest. She followed Mark out of the elevator at the top floor and came at the door to a private room. Mark swiped a card at it, and the luxurious door opened slowly. The dim light and soothing music spilled out from inside, and the decorations in the room were elegant and refined.
Amelia was a bit surprised, as she thought Kevin would have a more vulgar taste than this. Just then, a strong arm suddenly wrapped around her waist. Kevin pulled her close and leaned down to kiss her.
âYou look stunning today, babe.â
Amelia fought back her urge to throw up. She turned to avoid Kevinâs touch, but then she saw the man sitting on the sofa.
He wore a wh ite shirt, slightly open at the collar, revealing his charming collarbones, and his sleeves were rolled-up. He held a wine glass with his strong fingers.
The wine was shining like blood under the dim lighting, as intimidating as the gaze he was casting upon her. Amelia didnât expect James to be here. She thought he would not be in the same circle as Kevin.
The Evans Group controlled the economic lifeline of the entire northern hemisphere, while the Harris Group was only influential in Arcadia.
Amelia didnât know that these two would also meet up in private. Suddenly, she was glad that she didnât make that call to James the other day.
Otherwiseâ¦not only would she lose her dignity, she would also be outright rejected.
After all, how would James displease his friend for her?
Butâ¦why was he looking at her like that?
Was he angry because he saw someone else kissed her?
Yet James had already withdrawn his gaze, as if he didnât know
her.
Ameliaâs heart skipped a beat.
Of course. He wouldnât care who kissed her.
She looked away and turned to Kevin, âMr. Harris, why did you bring me here?â
Kevin caressed her face affectionately, âSo you can meet some of my friends! Then we can make things more exciting.â
A chill ran through Ameliaâs heart. She had to get away, as soon
as possible.
But just then, Kevin suddenly brought her to James.
