🌹Cassandra's POV🌹

Today was Wednesday, usually Xavier didn't go to work on Wednesdays. He used his home office.

I walked to his office, making sure not to make a sound on the wooden floor. I thought about turning back a couple of times but this was something I needed to do.

I knocked on his door softly. I heard as he muttered "Come in,"

I walked inside his office slowly.

The room was dark, the only light was from his phone screen and laptop.

"It's dark in here," I said.

"I like it this way." He said, his voice suddenly deeper than usual.

I like the way his features where outlined in the dark.

I walked to his desk, nearly tripping on a few things along the way.

He stood up from his desk then opened his curtains the sun light beaming through the room.

I turned my head away blocking the sun with my hand, it was too bright.

He took a seat and so did I. He continued texting ignoring my presence. I cleared my throat a couple of times but it didn't seem to have any effect.

After ten minutes of being ignored, I grabbed his phone out of his hand.

"What was that for?" He said eyebrow raised.

"I've been trying to talk to you, are you finally going to pay attention to me?" I asked.

"What do you want?" He asked. I could tell he was pissed. The way he looked at me was so intimidating, his eyes never leaving my face.

I took a deep breath. I knew we had already started on the wrong foot, the chances of getting what I wanted were slim.

"I have another antenatal class today. I need a partner. There is no one else I can ask." I said.

"No," he answered.

"No?" I questioned.

"I refuse to attend that stuff." He said diverting his attention to his laptop.

"I'm asking you Xavier. I wouldn't have if I had another option!" I yelled.

"And I said no, why don't you ask your stupid driver to accompany you."

"You got me pregnant, not Benjamin. This is as much your responsibility as it is mine!" I yelled.

"How are you so sure of that? After all, you've been whoring around every chance you got."

I slapped him across the face.

I have had it with his insults. It's like he took every opportunity he got to insult me

"Stop being a sissy and meet me outside in ten minutes." I said before storming out.

Today I wasn't in the mood. I'd burn this house down if I have to.

As I suspected, Xavier was already waiting for me by the car.

Sometimes he just needs a little push.

He opened the car door for me to get in.

Throughout the drive neither one of us spoke.

He just kept glancing at me. I couldn't help but place a smile on my face knowing I've won.

"We here," he said stepping out of the car.

He must have taken a short cut because today the drive was shorter than the day before's.

I stepped out of the car breathing in the fresh air.

We were a few minutes early, the doors were still closed.

A few couples were standing outside.

I saw Elizabeth waving at me as she signaled for me to come to her.

"I'll get the bag," Xavier said.

I gave him a small smile. I walked towards Elizabeth and Charles.

"Where were you yesterday, I missed you." Elizabeth said giving me a hug.

"I was really tired," I lied.

"Morning Charles," I said giving him a small wave.

"Morning," he replied. He was busy typing on his phone.

"When does this thing start?" A voice whispered in my ear. I nearly jumped out of my skin. I turned around to see Xavier standing behind me. He was so close I could feel his breath against my skin.

"You scared me," I said slapping him on the chest.

After I had fully relaxed I turned to Elizabeth.

"Elizabeth this is Xavier, my..." I said looking for a word to best describe our relationship.

"I'm her husband." He interrupted. "Nice to meet you," Xavier said.

They both exchanged greetings.

"This is my husband..." Elizabeth said but was interrupted by Xavier.

"Charles?" Xavier said.

"I thought you were dead " Charles said with a smirk on his face looking up from his phone.

"You two know each other?" I asked.

"Yes, he tried to steal a business deal from me." Charles replied.

Xavier chuckled.

I could feel the tension between the two men.

"She's your wife?" Charles asked. "I heard she left you."

Xavier's expression turned cold as his hands formed into a fist.

"I think the class is about to start." Elizabeth said.

She must have felt the tension too.

I looked at my watch to see there were still twenty more minutes.

"Xavier, I'm thirsty," I said tapping him in the shoulder.

"There is juice in the bag." He answered.

"So you not going to get it for her?" Charles asked in a tone that sounded more like he was challenging him.

Xavier exhaled deeply. "Fine, I'll get it." He said.

"No, I want a smoothie." I said.

There was a restaurant near the entrance five minutes away.

While Xavier went to get me a smoothie, we went to take a seat by the bench.

"So, do you guys have any names for the baby yet." I asked.

"Maybe Cora, if it's a girl." Charles answered.

"Don't be stupid, we not naming our child after a tampon brand." Elizabeth said.

I felt I was in between a couples fight. They kept arguing about baby names. They couldn't seem to come to an agreement.

Xavier finally came back, for the first time I was glad to see him.

"Here you go," he said handing me the smoothie.

I took one look at it and shook my head.

"I don't want this, I change my mind. I want water." I said.

"I had to wait in line for ten minutes." He said.

Elizabeth and Charles turned to look at us.

"I don't want this, I want water." I insisted.

He took the smoothie from my hand exhaling deeply trying to calm himself down.

"Breath in, and out." The instructor said.

I took a deep breath in and out. Xavier was sitting behind me massaging my shoulders.

Today's lesson was breathing and relaxation exercises during labour.

Xavier and Charles kept glaring at each other.

Xavier was all of a sudden nice to me. Never complaining when I asked him to do something. He even helped me sit and kept asking me if I needed anything every five minutes.

It was almost like there was a bottle between the two, of who the better husband is.

I can't say I wasn't enjoying it.

"That is it for today's lesson." The instructor announced.

I felt so relaxed. I didn't want the class to end.

Xavier helped pack away my things.

"Thanks for coming," I whispered to him.

He didn't reply, instead he pretended like he heard nothing.

We walked out in Silence.

"That was fun," Elizabeth said.

"Yah," Charles said sarcastically. He then turned to Xavier. "Why don't you come over to dinner tommorow?" He asked.

"Saturday?" Xavier questioned.

"Yes, I'm sure Cassandra would love that." He said. "Unless..."

"Fine, see you tommorow. Email me the address." Xavier said pulling my hand.

I waved Elizabeth and Charles goodbye while trying to catch up with Xavier.

Xavier placed the bag in the boot while I waited for him to unlock the car.

"Mr Kingsley!" A voice yelled.

It was Roxanne and her husband Walt coming towards us.

"I'm so glad to see you." Walt said.

Walt extended his hand to Xavier but Xavier placed him hands away into his pocket ignoring his gesture.

I felt embarrassed for Walt, Xavier could be so rude.

"Is this your husband?" Roxanne asked me.

I nodded.

"I'm having my baby shower next weekend. You should come." She said smiling at me.

The last time she couldn't stand me now all of a sudden she's being nice.

"We have to go now." Xavier said.

I waved the two of them goodbye as I got into the car.

"Is she always a kiss-up?" Xavier asked.

"Only when she wants something." I answered.

We stopped for lunch on our way home since I wouldn't stop nagging Xavier about how hungry I was. I'm surprised he didn't lose it, today my emotions were high.

I nearly had a heart attack as my eyes met with Layla's after opening the door.

She was glaring at me, her cheeks red and hand in a fist.

"F**k," Xavier muttered as he walked in after me. He must have noticed how angry she was.

"I waited for you for five hours! You didn't even bother texting me that you weren't coming. Do you have any idea how big of a fool I looked?" She yelled. Her voice echoing.

"I'm sorry, I forgot. I had to take Cassie somewhere." He said.

"Even more pathetic than I thought. You blow me off for this gold digger!"

Xavier didn't answer.

She got up from the table then walked towards us.

As she stood in front of me she slapped me across the face. I lost my balance, if not for Xavier who caught me on time I would have fallen over the large vase behind me.

"I'm sick of this!" Xavier yelled. "I'm sick of you and your attitude. I can't do this anymore, it's over between us!"

"What? You breaking up with me because of this bitch?" She yelled.

"Yes, now get out!" He yelled.

"You'll regret this." She said pointing a finger at me before storming out.
