Colby's POV
"Where was he spotted?" Will asked as we walked down the hallway.
"Still posing as a cop. He went to Julia's mom's house." I explained, making sure I had my gun on me.
I always had it but I couldn't trust Julia to not take it from me. She has really become a piece of work.
She was much more submissive when we were dating. I guess that's what happens when you are in charge of four kids all by yourself.
Julia was always strong and defiant though, so I guess that didn't change at all.
"What were you doing there?" He asked as I sighed.
"Julia wanted to go. I don't know what happened but her mom took the kids from her. She wanted to just see them." I explained as we got to the car.
"Jeremy and Logan are going to follow us for back up." Will explained as we got there. "Great." I said then started the car.
"What's the plan?" Will asked. "If he's still there we capture and bring him in for questioning. I don't know what the governor wants from him so we will hold him captive until I get word." I said as he nodded.
"And if he's not there?" Will asked as I shrugged. "We find him. No more questions." I said simply.
I was done with the questioning. I was done with people not trusting me and my abilities.
I sped down the road, being careful to take paths that I knew cops wouldn't be on.
Even if I were to get pulled over, I would get out of it. It was just that it would waste my time.
I didn't really realize how crucial the crime world was to the political world.
Gangs were crucial for elections and for politicians to keep their name as clear as possible.
I was basically untouchable as long as I wasn't killing random people and causing issues.
When we got to the house, I parked the car exactly where we were not even an hour ago. I let out a sigh of relief, seeing the cop car still sitting in front of the house.
"He's still here." I said then texted Jeremy, giving him instructions.
"Do you think he's expecting us?" Will asked as I shrugged. "I don't know. Are you still in contact with Julia's mom?" I asked, focusing on my phone.
"I've given her a few updates since Quill died. Why?" He asked as I nodded.
"I need you to go and check on the family. Make sure none of them were murdered by him." I explained as he nodded.
"Got it." He said as I looked up at the house. It felt like forever before the door was opening and Adam was standing there. He was talking to Julia's younger brothers.
Fuck, they had gotten old.
The last time I saw them they were kids but now they were basically teens. I shook my head, needing to regain focus.
"At least the two boys are safe." I said as they hugged him. The thought of them being close to this guy made me feel sick.
They had no idea who he was.
"Wait here." I said then grabbed a cloth and drenched it in chloroform before getting out of the car.
I snuck carefully to the side of Adam's car so I could catch him by surprise.
I listened carefully for his footsteps then sprung out at the right moment, covering his mouth and nose with the cloth.
He struggled for a second before he went unconscious.
Jeremy and Logan came around and helped me tie him up and throw him in their car.
"Bring him to the pit not to base. Tie him up and don't do anything until I get there." I instructed as they nodded.
I then turned and went back to the car. "Go." I said as Will scrunched his brow with confusion. "Now?" He asked as I rolled my eyes.
"No, in five to ten business days. Yes, now." I snapped as he held his hands up in defense.
"Alright, sure." He said then got out of the car and made his way to the house.
I knew it might have not been the wisest to send him now but I needed to make sure those kids were okay. It was the least I could do for holding Julia hostage again.
It wasn't like I wanted to, but it had to be this way for now.
I sat in silence, watching the house as I played with my bottom lip.
I was trying to formulate what I was going to do next. I didn't want to immediately call the governor in case there was something we didn't know.
I wanted to pick his brain a little bit.
There was really no information on him other than that he was dangerous.
He must have been part of some gang and I needed to make sure that they weren't a danger to me and the secret society.
I assumed they would be but I needed to make sure.
After a while of waiting, Will was leaving the house and joining me back in the car.
"Well?" I asked as he shrugged. "Kids are alive and well. So is Susan." He said as I nodded. "Couldn't care less about that bitch." I mumbled and started the car.
"Where is Adam?" Will asked as I started driving. "The pit. Don't want him inside our base." I explained as he nodded.
The pit was a place a couple miles from base that we would hold people hostage.
It was where I did a lot of my questioning since I didn't want random people in our base if I could help it.
When we got to the pit, I looked at Will. "You don't have to stay for this if you don't want to." I said blandly.
"This is the fun part." He said with a grin. "Maybe not this time." I said and got out of the car.
We walked down the dirt road until we reached the rundown shack that we called the pit.
"If you knew what was good for you, you'd let me go. Brock is a moron." Adam seethed as he fought against the restraints.
"Aww, glad you think so highly of me." I said with fake flattery. "Shut the fuck up." He growled as I shook my head.
"Let's get things straight as soon as possible. I'm in fucking charge and you're the little bitch that got caught." I hummed condescendingly. "Not for fucking long, pussy." Adam said as I squinted.
"What's with the name calling? I haven't done anything to you yet." I said and pulled my knife out.
"Your reputation is pathetic. Pussy whipped by a girl who you plucked off the streets. She's not even good in bed. I don't know what you saw in her." Adam said as I squinted at him.
I tried to not let his words anger me because it would just prove the point. I wasn't pussy whipped by Julia anymore but in the past I was.
I still had a respect for her after everything she did though so hearing him disrespect her like that was pissing me off.
"Enough about her. What are you up to, Adam?" I asked and walked over slowly, pressing my knife to his cheek.
He flinched back at the coldness of the metal, but kept glaring at me.
"Why would I tell you anything?" He asked angrily. "Because you're tied up like a little bitch and I'm holding the knife. Now speak." I said coldly.
"You really are dumb aren't you?" He asked as I shook my head. "Not even close." I said and dug the knife in, cutting him.
"I'm not afraid of a little knife." He said and glared harder. "Yeah, I'm starting off slow. It's been a while for you." I said with a laugh.
"We can escalate things though, if you want." I said and put the knife down, grabbing my signature blow torch.
"What are you gonna do with that?" He asked with a hint of fear. "Fuck around and find out." I said as he squinted.
"Where should I start? Let's go back to you being the laughing stock of the crime world." Adam said condescendingly.
"Stop talking before you piss me off." I said and lit the torch. "No, no. It's important to the story." He said with a grin.
"My gang members have a little bet. Whoever could find the girl who made you into the little girl you are, would get to take over secret society when you were dead." He said as I controlled my anger.
"Before I could really do what I wanted with her, your whipped ass got in the way." He explained.
"Thus, proving my point to begin with." He hummed. "Now that we're here, we moved onto our next step." He said with a sigh.
"Which is?" I asked as he laughed. "Stop interrupting, it's making the story less dramatic." He said as I rolled my eyes.
This guy was really pissing me off.
"Our gang leader wants to meet Julia." He said and watched my reaction carefully. I had to make sure my reactions weren't showing how pissed off I was.
"There it is." He said with an annoying laugh. "That glint of anger in your eyes. Once a pussy whipped bitch, always a pussy whipped bitch." He said as I shook my head.
"Julia means nothing to me." I said as he tilted his head to the side.
"So you won't care that I take her and let our leader have his way with her?" He asked causing me to clench my jaw.
"She'd be worth a lot of money. We'd have to teach a little more about how to be a good fuck, but I think that could be fun." He said as I leaned forwards and grabbed his neck, choking him.
I knew it was a bad idea to show this kind of anger, but I couldn't help it.
Nobody deserved to go through what he was talking about, but Julia especially didn't.
Right before he could pass out, I let go. "Still....whipped..." He choke out with an eat shit grin.
"Let's get one thing fucking straight. Julia means nothing to me, and I'm not whipped. I just hate your fucking guts." I seethed as he nodded.
"You're gonna rot in here, so get comfortable." I said then blew out the flame of the blow torch.
As much as I wanted to hurt and torture him, I had to leave so I didn't actually kill him.
He was lucky I didn't kill him for the shit he was saying.
