The next couple days were horrible. I was getting annoyed with the lack of action and wanted to just go back home.
The only perk to this week was that Colby was actually leaving me alone.
It was a good thing because I was trying desperately to not fall into his lies again. I wasn't going to let his sweet gestures fool me this time.
I had already made a mistake by sharing a few kisses with him, I needed to be more careful.
Right now I was in the living room, sitting on the couch and looking out the window.
I didn't have much to do here but it had been snowing here so I would just watch it as it peacefully fell.
"Bored?" Sam asked as he came into the room. "Is it obvious?" I asked and looked over at him.
"You hardly move from that spot." He hummed and handed me a mug.
"What's this?" I asked and looked into the cup. "Hot chocolate with a splash of liquor." He said causing me to laugh.
"Thanks, Sam." I said then took a sip. "Where's Colby?" I asked as he sighed. "Working on something." He said as I rolled my eyes.
"What's his fucking problem?" I asked as he shrugged.
"He's got some sort of plan working. He's a lot more calculated than you think." He said as I shook my head.
"I think he thinks he's calculated. We've been sitting on our asses for too long. I don't see why we can't just try our plan." I said causing him to sigh.
"Do you really think it would be a good idea? You know they can kill you, right?" He asked as I nodded.
"It's a risk I'm willing to take." I said and took a sip of my drink.
"You really hate him that much?" He asked as I sighed. "I don't hate him, but I don't want to be near him. He hurt me, Sam. I'm not forgiving him any time soon for it." I said and looked out the window.
"I just want to get home so I can get back to my life." I said quietly. I didn't want to necessarily get back to my life because I knew my siblings weren't going to be with me and that I was alone.
I would rather be alone than torture my heart by being around Colby.
"Sam, have you- oh." Colby said as he walked into the room to see Sam and I. "Have I what?" Sam asked and crossed his arms.
"Have you heard from Jake or Corey today?" He asked as Sam grabbed his phone. "Yeah, they lost the guys." Sam said as Colby shook his head.
"This is ridiculous." Colby said as I raised my hand. "Is it time we do my plan?" I asked as he rolled his eyes.
"Could be a good idea. I had Nate send me some trackers and mics." Sam said as Colby groaned. "We aren't doing it!" He snapped.
"Funny how you trust Sam with your gang but not with me." I said and put my hot chocolate down.
"You don't have to be a part of it. Sam and I have it under control." I said and raised my brows at him.
"Jules. Please." Colby said as I shook my head. "Sam." I said and looked at him. "It will be safe, Colby. Well..as safe as it can be." Sam said with a nod.
"I know you wanted to find another way, but it's been days and we have nothing. This way we can at least know where they would take her. It's give us a step ahead." Sam explained.
"And what happens when she gets captured? What are you gonna do?" Colby and and looked at me. "Take whatever they do to me until you guys get there." I said with a shrug.
"I can't let you do that, Jules." Colby said with a sigh. "I can't come after you. They know I love you and they know that I would come rescue you. I would be falling into their trap." He explained.
It made sense in a way but I was seriously sick of waiting. I was sick of being in hiding and I was sick of being surrounded by the crime world.
"What if we just go looking for them ourselves. Hiding makes us look weak." I said causing Colby to grin.
"Who taught you that?" He asked and sat down next to Sam. "Some asshole I know." I said causing Sam to laugh.
"Burn." He said as Colby chuckled. "Okay. You've got a point. It might be time to go back to Seattle to deal with this head on." Colby said as I nodded.
"Great! I'll go pack." I said and stood up so I could leave the room.
I wasn't the most excited about going back to Seattle because I would still be held prisoner with Colby but it would be good to be closer to home.
Maybe I could check on my siblings while we were there.
"Jules. Can I just talk to you for a minute?" Colby asked as I finished packing my stuff up. "If this is about the plan Sam and I made, I'm giving up on it. I just want to go home." I said and looked up at him.
"I get that. I just wanted to apologize." Colby said causing me to scrunch my brow with confusion.
"For what?" I asked as he scratched the back of his head. "For uh...well for everything. You don't deserve any of this, and if things could be different they would be." He said quietly.
"I'll get you home as soon as it's safe." He said with a sigh. "Did you hit your head or something?" I asked causing him to laugh.
"What?" He asked as I walked over and put my hand on his forehead.
"You usually are pretty headstrong when I comes to holding me hostage." I said as he chuckled. "Yeah, well I guess I feel bad." He said then looked at my bag.
"All packed?" He asked as I nodded. "Yep. Ready to be one step closer to freedom." I said then turned again grabbed my bag.
"Awesome. Let's go." He said then gestured for me to follow him.
I was actually kinda proud of him for not bothering me so much and for suppressing the love he thought he had for me.
Part of me wondered if he meant it or if he was just reliving old feelings. The way he reacted to our kisses had me feeling he was serious.
He would have to get over it though.
When we got to the car I put my stuff in the trunk then slid into the back seat.
"Can we get some food, I'm fucking starving." Sam said as Colby started the car.
"You couldn't have made food before we left?" Colby asked with a laugh. "Didn't think we were leaving." Sam said as he typed something into his phone.
"Fine. You hungry, sweetheart?" Colby asked as I shrugged. "Not really." I said as he started driving.
"Alright then we're gonna wait until Julia is hungry." He said as Sam chuckled. "Then we're never eating." He said and looked back at me.
"Give me a couple hours. I just wanna get on the road." I said then looked out the window.
"Sounds good." Sam said then looked straight ahead.
We ended up driving for a couple hours before we stopped and got some food.
I didn't know how far away we were from Seattle but it felt like we were driving for forever.
About halfway through the drive Sam and Colby switched so Colby could rest.
"Where are we staying?" I asked and looked out the window. "My apartment. It's safe enough." Colbh said as I nodded.
"Sounds-" I started but was interrupted by the sound of the tires screeching.
"Shit." San hissed as he swerved out of control. "What's happening?!" I asked and braced myself against the seat.
"Someone blew out our-" Colby started. I couldn't hear him finish the sentence before someone was slamming their car into ours, causing us to flip.
I screamed, but nothing came out before my head cracked against the window, knocking me out.
"Julia. Julia!" A voice yelled from the distance. It felt like this person was so far away.
"Come on!" The voice yelled sending an annoying chill down my spine. I was sleeping. What was so fucking important that this person had to wake me up.
"WAKE. UP." The voice yelled as a burning sensation filled my cheek and my head started aching.
"Julia." Sam said as my eyes fluttered open. I could smell something burning as I slowly came back to it.
Oh, fuck. We were in an accident.
"What happened?" I asked and sat up. "Doesn't matter. We have a bigger issue." Sam said with intensity.
"What?" I mumbled and brought my hand to my aching head.
I was so flustered from the accident that I couldn't comprehend what was happening or where we were.
It was all so fuzzy until Sam said the words I never thought would leave his mouth.
"Someone took Colby."
