"What is that?" I asked and pointed to the paper in his hand. "Uh..." Jeremy shifted uncomfortably, looking at Will.
"You're including me in this whether you like it or not." I said then clenched my jaw.
"You've been spending too much time with Colby." Will said as I shook my head.
"I'm my own person and I'm sick of people underestimating me." I said then reached my hand out for the paper.
"There's no stopping you is there?" He asked as I shook my head. "Nope." I said then watched as he sighed and handed me the paper.
4567 Waterleaf Way. Come before noon or he's dead. Bring the girl.
"What time is it?" I asked and snapped my head up to look at them. "Eleven thirty, why?" Will asked as I stood up.
"We have to go." I said and handed Will the letter.
I watched as he read it, his eyes narrowing slightly. "There's no way." He said then put the paper down.
"You just want him to die so you can take over!" I yelled, feeling hysteria building up.
"Julia, that's not how this works and you know it." Will said as I shook my head angrily.
"Why do you even care? You hate him." Jeremy asked as my eyes watered.
I didn't know why I cared so much. Colby and I's relationship has been tense but it didn't mean I wanted him to be killed.
"It doesn't matter. We don't have time for this." I said and stood up. "He's going to kill us if we bring you anyways." Will said as I shook my head.
"Not if he's dead first." I said then left the room. I didn't care to be told no this time. I wasn't a little girl and could do whatever I needed to do.
It wasn't like I had anything to really live for anyways.
"Julia! You can't just walk around down here!" Will hissed as he chased after me.
"I can and I will." I snapped and looked around. I needed to find some sort of weapon that I could bring with me to this place.
I walked until I saw the door to Colby's office. There was a keypad lock on it so I had to guess what the passcode would be to get in.
I decided to try his birthday first since that was the most obvious thing he could put.
When the door opened I rolled my eyes.
"Fucking idiot." I mumbled then walked into the room. "You can't go in there." Will said as he grabbed my arm.
"No. You can't." I said then pulled my arm back and closed the door. Once I was in his office I started going through stuff, looking for a gun of some sort.
I hated the violent parts of this life but if I was going head on into the danger I would need something to fight with.
After a couple minutes of searching I found a hand gun, and a couple discreet knives. One was in the shape of a comb and the other was a pen.
"Perfect." I mumbled as the phone in my pocket buzzed.
"Hello?" I answered, seeing it was Jake's phone calling. "What's going on, Julia?" Sam asked as I shoved the weapons I have found in my pockets.
"I'm coming out now, go to the alley." I said then hung up. I knew it was probably frowned upon to go against the most powerful gang in the country but I didn't care.
They weren't taking this seriously enough.
I stormed down the hallway until reached the elevator. I needed a badge to open it but I clearly didn't have one.
"Son of a fucking bitch." I grumbled and pulled the gun out of my pocket and undid the safety.
"Open the door." I said to the guy sitting next to the door behind a desk. "Woah." He said and held his hands up.
"Now!" I snapped as he stood up. I hated that I was being like this but I knew we needed to hurry.
We didn't have time for this.
I watched as he walked around the desk and towards the elevator.
"Julia, stop." Jeremy said from behind me. "If you guys aren't gonna do something, then I will." I said and turned around, pointing the gun at him.
"Why are you doing this?" He asked and held his hands up.
I didn't know why. I despised Colby for what he did to me.
I resented him for taking everything from me and for making my life a living Hell.
I hated that he broke me but he also saved me time and time again. After everything we had been through I wanted him to stay far away from me, but now that it was a reality I found myself freaking out.
I needed him whether I liked to admit it or not.
"Don't test me." I said then turned and walked into the elevator, holding the gun up until the doors closed.
Once the door was closed I put the safety on and put it in my jacket pocket.
When the doors opened I made my way down the alley quickly, not wanting anyone to stop me.
By the time I got to the end of the alleyway, Corey's car was waiting for me.
"What's going on?" Sam asked as I got in the car. "Drive to 4567 Waterleaf Way. We don't have time." I said as Corey typed it into his phone.
"That's an hour away." He said as my eyes watered. "Then fucking speed." I said as Sam reached over and put his hand on my shoulder.
"What's going on, Julia?" He asked calmly. "They're gonna kill him if I don't go." I said quietly.
"Explain." Sam said as Corey started driving. "The secret society got a note and all it said was the address and that they were killing him if I didn't go there by noon." I said and looked at the time.
11:56
"We aren't gonna make it." I said quietly, my voice cracking.
"You're not doing this." Sam said as I clenched my jaw and looked over at him.
"What happened to our plan? You were on my side with it." I said as he nodded. "Yeah, but this a trap. If they wanted to take you, they would have taken you when the accident happened." He said with a sigh.
"What if Colby didn't let them? He could have sacrificed himself." I said causing him to sigh.
"He was probably knocked unconscious, Jules." He said as anger swelled within me.
"Why is nobody taking this seriously!? They're gonna kill him!" I said as he put his hand on mine.
"I'm taking this seriously but I'm not putting you in the line of fire." He explained. "They asked for me, Sam. They'll keep him alive if they know I'm coming." I said and took his phone out of my pocket.
"What are you doing?" Sam asked as I pulled up Colby's contact on his phone. "Telling them I'm coming." I said and dialed the number, putting the phone to my ear.
The phone rang a couple times before it went to voice mail.
"No answer." I said and swallowed hard. I had a bad feeling that I was sacrificing myself for nothing and that they would kill him anyways.
It would be all my fault.
We drove for what felt like forever. It was an hour drive but Corey was able to speed and get us there in fourty minutes.
"What's our plan?" Jake asked as I shook my head. "I have to go in. Do you still have the mic that Nate sent you?" I asked and looked at Sam.
"Yeah, you're not going in alone though." He said as I nodded.
"I'm going in with the mic attached to me. You'll be backup. If things get messy that's when you come." I said and looked at the house that was in front of us.
It looked like a normal house. Not like somewhere that someone would be holding a crime lord hostage.
"I don't like this." Sam said as I nodded. "Why don't you two go in with the mic and Corey and I will be backup." Jake suggested.
"They'll never see us coming, and we'll be able to see if anyone leaves." He said as I nodded. "That's a good plan. Let's do it." I said and looked at Sam.
"There's no convincing you to stay behind, is there?" He asked as I shook my head. "You know better than to think any other way." I said then got out of the car.
Once we were out of the car, Sam went to grab the mic. "Are you sure you're ready for this? He might be gone." Sam said as I nodded.
"I'm as ready as I can be." I said quietly as he nodded.
"Then let's kick some ass." He said then looked at the house that held our fate in it.
