Colby's POV
"I'm sorry you guys are here and away from your gang and girlfriends." I said to Sam and Corey as we walked through Target, grabbing some stuff for Julia.
"Kat wants to kill you but I think she'll be happy to hear about you and Julia." Sam said as I grinned.
"Yeah, I kinda fucked them all up by leaving. I just really thought it was good for everyone." I said with a sigh.
"It's okay. You're allowed to make mistakes, man." Sam said as I put a pack of canvases in our cart.
"I appreciate you guys." I said quietly. "We love you, man. Even when you're a huge dick." Corey said causing me to laugh.
"I was only being a dick because I was numb." I said with a sigh. "You were missing something." Sam said as I chuckled. "Yeah. I guess you could say that." I said then looked at the cart full of stuff I got Julia.
I couldn't quite wrap my mind around how much I loved Julia. No matter how dangerous it was to have her around or how desperately I wanted her to be away from this life, I was glad she was here.
I was better with her by my side.
We payed for the stuff then made our way back to my apartment. "If you guys want to come up, you can." I said and parked the car.
"Nah, just send Jake down." Sam said as I nodded. "I'll text you about tomorrow." I said as we got out of the car.
"Alright, man. See you tomorrow." Sam said with a grin and handed me the bag of stuff I just bought.
"See ya." I said then went inside.
When I got upstairs, I went to my apartment to see Julia giggling on the couch and Jake cleaning something up.
"What's going on in here?" I asked causing Julia to look up.
"Colbyyyy!" She sang and stood up, stumbling over to me. "Hi, beautiful." I said and set the stuff I was holding on the floor so I could wrap my arms around her.
"I missed you." She slurred, causing me to laugh. "Are you drunk?" I asked then looked at Jake.
"She's wasted." He said as I nodded. "Got into my good stuff, huh?" I asked as Julia wrapped her arms around me and rested her cheek on my chest.
"I told her not to." Jake said with an almost nervous tone.
"It's alright. The guys are waiting for you downstairs." I said as Jake stood up.
"She dropped a bottle on the ground, I think she cut her foot but I haven't been able to check." Jake said as I nodded.
"I'll take care of it. Thanks for everything, man." I said as Jake chuckled. "You're nice when you're in love." He said as I nodded.
"Yeah. I guess." I said then jutted my head towards the door. "Out." I said as he chuckled.
"There it is. See you tomorrow." He said then left the apartment.
"I missed you." Julia mumbled and looked up at me, her eyes glassy. "I missed you, too." I said then gave her a gentle kiss.
"Can I see your foot?" I asked as she giggled. "Not for free." She said and pulled away from me and started walking towards the shattered glass.
"Wait!" I said and wrapped my arms around her waist, lifting her up.
Julia giggled then leaned her head back against my chest.
"Come on." I said and carried her towards my room and away from the glass. "Are we allowed to fuck now?" Julia asked as I chuckled.
"As much as I would love to, I'm not going to fuck you while you're drunk." I said then sat her on the bed.
"Good, I'm sore." She said as I frowned and pulled her bloody sock off. "I know, sweetheart." I mumbled and looked at the cut on her foot.
It wasn't serious so I wasn't worried about it but I had to make sure there was no glass in there.
"That hurts." Julia mumbled as she sat up, a pained look on her face.
"I know, darling. Just let me patch this up then we can get something to eat." I said and stood up to get some stuff to clean her foot up.
When I got to the bathroom I grabbed a couple bandaids and a wet towel.
"You came baaaaack." Julia hummed happily as she opened her arms. "I was only gone for a second." I said with a laugh.
"Felt like forever." She said as I sat down, wiping the dried blood from her foot. "Yeah. Did you do anything fun today?" I asked and focused on what I was doing.
"Tequila." She said with a giggle. "Ah, that explains the giggles." I said with a grin and put a bandaid on her foot.
"Alright. Just sit tight, I'm gonna clean up the glass." I said then stood up straight.
"Are you mad at me?" She asked quietly. "No, sweetheart. Not mad." I said then leaned down and kissed her forehead.
I then made my way out to the living room so I could clean up the broken tequila bottle.
I wasn't the happiest that she turned to alcohol to get through the day but I couldn't exactly blame her.
Life has been hard on Julia but no matter what she always got back up and acted so strong.
It was okay to want to numb herself a little bit but I wouldn't let it happen more than once.
Once the glass was all cleaned up I went back into the bedroom to see Julia fast asleep on top of the covers.
I grinned and walked over to her, laying a blanket on top of her.
I then leaned down and kissed her head before turning to go into the bathroom so I could shower.
I was glad that Julia was sleeping because as much as I loved her, I needed just a moment to decompress.
Usually I wouldn't admit to being stressed out but right now I was about to hit my limit. This Adam guy was bringing me too much pain and stress and I didn't know what to do about it.
It seemed like he was always ahead and ready to escape to God knows where.
I had to find out who he was working for and where he was always running off to.
There was something missing from this puzzle and I needed to figure out what it was.
I wasn't completely convinced that Will had nothing to do with it but I was going to have to keep an eye on him.
I showered and tried to decompress a little bit from today, then made my way back to the bedroom to see that Julia was still asleep on my bed.
"Adorable." I mumbled then went over and brushed her hair back since she had turned and it was now in her face.
I smiled then turned and left the room so I could get something to eat. I could see that Jake and Julia ordered some pizzas so I decided to just eat some of that.
It was actually kinda nice to be by myself right now since it had been a long week of being on my A game.
Life was always moving so fast and I couldn't seem to catch my footing.
Before Julia was back in my life I was so sure of everything. Every move I made had a purpose and I always felt ahead of the game.
Now I felt like I was slipping behind.
I sat in silence for a while, eating my pizza before I decided to go outside and have a cigarette. I haven't been having the urge to smoke as much but it really did relieve some of my stress.
"Colby?" Julia asked, opening the door to the patio door. "Yes, sweetheart?" I asked and looked over at her.
"I don't feel good and you weren't inside." She said causing me to chuckle. "Come here then." I said and patted my knee so she would come sit on my lap.
"What are you doing out here?" She asked and sat down, shivering against the cold night air.
"Smoking and thinking." I said and gently ran my hand up and down her arm to warm her up.
"Hm." She hummed and rested her head on my shoulder. "You seem to have sobered up." I said as she nodded.
"I feel sick." She mumbled as I nodded. "A lot of alcohol will do that." I said then kissed her head, putting my cigarette out.
"Let's go inside. Maybe something to eat will settle that stomach." I said then stood up, helping her to her feet.
"No." She said and put her hand on her mouth. "Okay, then maybe some water." I said then led the way back inside.
It honestly felt weird to jump back into this life with Julia. It was as if we were never apart and we never hated eachother.
It was really nice to have her back.
