I'm making this because there are a lot of characters and a lot of questions I get about who's who and what's what. If you ever forget, simply go to this portion of the book. The only reason I'm adding Silvia and Dakota because there are some background information about them that I think some people might not remember because it was mentioned early on in the first book.
All right, so people don't get confused. Here are all of things that *have* been revealed about Segg; This doesn't mean this is all you'll ever learn about Segg. There's still a lot to learn in the second book:
Segg (or SeGG) stands for Seniors Gag Group. The creator of this group is unknown, but it was Jonah Ellington that made it notorious when he was in high school. He was the leader of Segg. Something awful happened that year which caused them to stop doing Segg for a couple of decades. It wasn't until Dakota's Junior year when Segg finally made a reappearance (that was around the same time Diana committed suicide and Heath's sister went missing). The only way you can be a part of Segg is if you are the selected few boys in a sports team, typically Lacrosse. If an outside party wants to join, they have to be related to a current member or dating a current member. This rule does not apply to the maestro--a.k.a. leader of Segg. Because of the whole incident back in the 80s, maestro's can not invite members.
Excerpt: "Segg is something that hasn't been done in Crescent Height since my mom was going to school. It's where certain senior boys partake in pranks, competitions, games, and other stupid things. A lot of it revolved around humiliation. The pranks and humiliation was thrown toward the teachers and rarely ever the students. It wasn't until the late 80s when it shifted more towards student humiliation. Your dad is kind of a legend for pulling the stunt he did during his senior year." Dakota retorted. "Something happened during our parents senior year that made them banned this type of senior tradition."
"If it's really back, then we're all screwed." Heath announced. "Its pretty secretive on who is a part of the selected few who do it. And not ever member inside knows who's all apart of it unless they're the leader. They do this to insure there won't be lots of names a snitch can give out." (chapter 41)
Seconds Excerpt:"If it was so bad that it became banned to join Segg then whatever my dad did must've been really, really bad." I said, taking the first bite of my pizza. "What does Segg even stand for?"
"Seniors Gag Group. You know, a gag like a joke." Heath informed. "It's a idiotic name to match a stupid group of people. Most of the things they did was way too messed up to even be considered a prank. I think there's a fine line between pulling a practical joke and being cruel. You can't justify being an asshole by calling it prank."
I straightened my back in the booth as a new thought occurred to me. "Wait, if Beth and Xander were talking about there being a Segg group this year, then who's to say there wasn't one last year? Chase could've been a part of it. It all links up to whatever they could've done with either of your sisters."
"Unless they did like a competition or something brutal held under wraps, that would be the only possible case scenario. If it was a prank, everyone on campus would've known about it." Dakota answered.
I picked up my cold glass of soda and sipped it out of the straw. "Do you think this has any connection to who might've impregnated Diana? We should really start at least thinking of possible suspects." (chapter 42)
Maestro's job: To make sure everyone's identity is kept under wraps, holds the bidding, revoke privilege to prank if it is too extravagant or not up to standards, and moderates the prank to make sure everything goes as planned. He can override a prank (like how he has now made Silvia's prank worse because she didn't get him back with Ronnie). Lastly, the maestro is the only one who knows every member in Segg. Not ever member in Segg knows who's involved.
Excerpt: "Because Finn is the head member of Segg and he would have access to that kind of information." Ronnie exhaled painfully slow. She didn't look at me when she said this. "The main reason why we broke up is because I found out about him being the Segg head member. I had curiously gone through his phone one night and found loads of message of operations against students. They kept calling him Maestro, which is the title you use for the head member. He conducts the pranks, says what is acceptable and what isn't. Knows who's involved and who isn't. He organizes it so nothing gets messy and everything is under wraps."
Crescent Heights- is a town with the population of 1,000+ *originally, it was about 6,000, but I changed it. I'll probably change it back* THIS IS NOT THE SAME CITY IN CANADA. This town is located in California.
Boulder Valley- Boulder Valley is not a small town. The high school is an old rival with Crescent High. It's where the all-age club, the Smell, is located. This is also where Dion's apartment is located. Most of Dakota's friends go to Boulder Valley High, including Heath Slater.

NOTE: The images I use are based on how I personally see the characters. You don't have to see them this way. You can imagine them however you want.
Silvia Ellington- She moved to California from Maine to live with her father. Months before leaving, she got a lot of threats from people, was bullied at school, and the tires of her mother's car got slashed. This resulted in her getting a restraining order. She has still not admitted what caused her to flee Maine.
Excerpt: Something happened. I did some things. I did some things I probably shouldn't admit without an attorney at my side. I became a "handful" and my mom didn't want to deal with drama any longer.
Dakota Ridgewood- He is the school outcast, well known for having a shut-in of a mother. Carmen is his ex-girlfriend. They broke up because of infidelity. He used to be friends with Maven Price, Pierson Redmond, and Hunter Price. Their friendship really ended because of sexual advances from Maven. Maven set out to ruin his life. He spread rumors about Dakota after the end of their friendship. His father, Ethan Ridgewood, is currently in jail and has been there for three years. His father was the reason behind a car accident involving Dakota, leaving him with numerous scars when he was 7. He's a virgin.
Bethany Giller-She used to be acquainted with Silvia when she first arrived to Crescent Heights. She has had crush on Pierson Redmond for the past four years. She even went as far as to dress up as Silvia so she could catch Pierson's attention. This lead to her having sex with Pierson, but he thought he was with Silvia the entire time. Beth was accused of stealing from Dakota, taking his laptop and cell phone. She also lied about attending Franklin Simms party. She's been avoiding Silvia since.
Pierson Redmond- He is the cocky captain of the soccer team. He transferred to Crescent High during his Freshman year. He's originally from Sligo, Ireland. Him and his mother moved to California to take care of his ill grandfather who is battling cancer. He comes from a wealthy family and is determined to get with Silvia. He is the one who was behind the video presentation on the last day of school. This is revealed in the Epilogue. On thanksgiving, Silvia notices he is beaten up pretty bad. His mother is Siobhan.
Ronnie Suzuki-She is Silvia's best friend. They share an honors English class together. She was formally Finn's girlfriend. Then she kind of had this thing with Heath. She's witty and makes jokes about everything and everyone. Her mother died, and because of that tragic death, she works at the supermarket to make ends meet. Her biggest enemy is Xander. It isn't clear why she hates him. Readers are given a slight hint when Ronnie punches Xander in the face.
Excerpt: "Oooh, aren't you a saucy little thing?" Xander flashed his eyes over to Ronnie. "I like your taste in men."
"Hate to break it to you, but you're not his type." She snapped.
"That's what you said about your last boyfriend, but I changed that pretty quickly." He gave her a wink. It was all it took for her go for him a second time. She reeled back and sailed a punch right into his nose. Xander's hand clasped around his face, crying out in pain as rivers of crimson crept out of his pale white fingers.
Alexander 'Xander' Iverson- He is Beth's best friend of many years. (He isn't related to Beth). He really wants to be popular and is constantly trying to find new ways to get high in the social ladder. He has a bad history with Ronnie Suzuki. Heath shows a video of a Dakota lookalike leaving a car that Xander has been spotted driving in the past. No one knows if that was really Dakota or not (until you read chapter 1). They also know that he tried to prank Silvia but the check he used bounced, which caused Silvia's spot to go to Dakota.
Heath Slater- He is Dakota's best friend and is the drum in their band 'Dakota and the Pull-Out Methods'. He goes to Boulder Valley High. His sister Sherri has been missing for a few months now. She was friends with Diana Ridgewood and Chase Bennett. He has a crush on Ronnie Suzuki, but then again, he has a crush on everyone. (Ashton Irwin as Heath)
Diana Ridgewood- She is Dakota's little sister. She is younger by one year. She committed suicide during the summer before Silvia arrived in town. People don't know this, but she left a child named Ophelia. No one knows who the father is. She also left behind a diary that has information of what she was doing before she died, but Dakota doesn't know how to encrypt her hidden messages. She won't specify on names or locations, so he's confused on who she's talking about. [ I don't really know who would fit her. Imagine her as a plus sized blonde girl.]
Excerpt: "It's not that easy to figure out. I love my sister, but she involved herself with a lot of guys during her year last year on earth-guys I personally don't like. There's a lot of missing puzzle pieces on what she did during that time that I still haven't figured out. I've tried to narrow it down by using this diary she left behind, talking about her experiences, but she never wrote out names. She just wrote what she did with them or where they hung out. She'd add one small quality about the guy, but that's all. I even went as far as going to some parties to see if I could spot out who she's talking about." Dakota went on to say. "If she was still alive, she'd want the dad to be involved in the kids' life. That's what she was trying to do before she died."
Finn Washington- He is Ronnie's ex-boyfriend and is the current leader of Segg. He will do anything to get Ronnie back and was infuriated when Silvia couldn't keep up with the deal.
Chase Bennett- possibly a former leader of Segg from when Dakota was a Junior. They believe that he may have something to do with Diana's death and Sherri's missing-persons case. He's currently studying at UCLA.
Ethan Ridgewood - Dakota's Father and is currently in prison. Jonah Ellington, Silvia's Father, is the lawyer who helped get him behind bars. *there will be more information about him in this book*
Carrie Hyland- Silvia's grandmother and also the CEO of a chain of hotels named 'Hyland Hotel.' She tried to send money and birthday cards over to Silvia when she lived in Maine, but she never got a response. When Silvia's dad tried to send stuff over, it was only mailed right back.
Excerpt: "I never saw any of that money." I dropped her hand and got up to my feet. I needed to breathe. I began pacing. "Either you're lying to me or--"
"Your mother could've hidden it from you." She filled in for me. "It's no surprise. Who do you think paid for her bail money for when she got arrested? I nearly killed your father for not taking you and your brother out of there any sooner. He tried, but with no luck. Your mother convinced him that you didn't want him in your life. She shut him out. She said he'd ruined their marriage, she didn't want him to ruin her kids and desert them like he deserted her."
Carmen Gomez- She is Dakota's Ex-Girlfriend. They were together for 2 years and they broke up because she was cheating on him with Hunter Price. She was nice to Silvia at first, but that suddenly changed after Hunter got attacked at the Smell. She has disliked her ever since and blames Silvia on why Hunter broke up with her. Rosemary is her best friend and her hype-woman. Carmen always refers to Silvia as Canada. Her mother left her father for another women and her dad lost his job. At the moment, her family isn't doing well financially.
Hunter Price- He is the nice twin. He used to date Carmen. On thanksgiving, Silvia noticed he had bruised and battered knuckles. He has been defending Silvia since she arrived in California for unknown reasons. His mother is Evelyn Price. His father is Lucas Harper. They took their mother's last name, not their father's. His father IS NOT Jonah Ellington.
Maven Price-He is the not-so-nice twin. He is dating Faye Daniels, even though he's still in the closet and is actually attracted to guys. One of those guys being Dakota Ridgewood.
Dion Ridgewood- He is Dakota's older brother and he is taking care of Ophelia as if she was his own daughter. He has an on and off relationship with Olivia Giller. Olivia Giller is Beth's older sister. (Jesse Rutherford as Dion)
Franklin Simms- He's well known for being a little too touchy-feely with the ladies. He was the guy who groped Silvia on her first day in California. He is also the one who was talking to Pierson on those messages found on his laptop, trying to convince him to prank Silvia.
Doug Lewis- He is best friends with Hunter Price and Pierson Redmond. He has a crush on Beth and took her out on a date to the Smell in the first book, but she brought along Silvia and Xander.
Gabriel "Gabe" Feldman- He is good friends with Ronnie. He met Silvia through her last semester. He is a Junior and he works on the sets for play productions. He has a big crush on her that he doesn't keep quiet.

Lenard Ellington- He is Silvia's older brother. He has a mental illness and has a hard time dealing with his emotions and thoughts after what happened a couple of years ago. He witnessed his sister getting raped one night, which lead to him murdering one of the rapists. One of them went to jail and the other went missing. While getting help for his mental illness, he met a girl named Karenna Patel.
Jasmine Jama - She is Silvia's mother. She's been sober for about a while now but used to be addicted to pain killers when she was married to her husband, but after the divorce, she got worse and got addicted to illegal drugs. Their failed marriage ruined her.
Excerpt: You don't get it, Kota. There was nearly zero trust by the end. What really messed my mom up wasn't the fact that he was cheating. I think she'd be a lot better if that was all. He'd cheated before Evelyn when I was a kid. I didn't see it then-I was only nine. But now looking back, I could tell that it wasn't even the first time with that woman either. But what was so different with Evelyn was that my mom could see my dad changing, becoming more responsive, listening to her. At first, she thought it was of her own doing, but after Evelyn stepped in the picture, mom knew that it wasn't because of her at all. He was changing for another woman. She'd tried so hard to tame him, I guess. But with no luck. Dad didn't like going to family outings, but now he does. He didn't like taking vacations, but now he flew Evelyn to all sorts of different countries and states. I know I'd be crushed if I found out someone was changing for another person, but after all of my own failed attempts
Ian Prescott- Silvia's former best friend from Middle School. She told him about the life she had at home and he went behind her back and told the most popular people about it. He has now enrolled into Crescent High.
Laura Prescott - The new girl that has already hates Dakota for being unreasonably mean to her. She's the half-sister to Ian Prescott.
