After hearing Royâs response, Casper grunted. âYou have indeed helped me a lot by not calling the police. No one can stop me from taking him away now.â
âAre you telling me that you want to abduct Mr. Lingham in front of me?â Royâs hands flew to Sawyerâs arm almost immediately. He looked like he was ready to fight Casper.
Afraid that her boss might madden Casper, the secretary tugged one of Royâs arms and whispered, âMr. Johnson, are you courting your death?â
âYour boss is not crazy, but he is just trying to test me. Donât worry. Although I almost killed someone here today, I have held myself back.â Casper bitterly chuckled. âI can draw the line and will not kill your client. All I wanted to do is to talk to him about something.â
âYou can talk to him here!â Roy did not budge.
âYou are a daring one, arenât you?â
Casper looked irritated, but Roy still stood his ground. âIf you killed Mr. Lingham in the room earlier, I have nothing to say. Unfortunately, you are trying to drag my client out in front of me, and I canât allow that to happen.â
âWhat logic is this? Canât you pretend not to see me?â Casper joked.
âIâm afraid not!â Roy pulled Sawyer over to his side before leading Casper out the door.
It caught Casper off-guard. As soon as the two of them went out, Royâs expression changed. His lips curled upwards into a smile, and he lightheartedly laughed. âHey, I had to put up a show for Sawyer earlier though I know that you will not kill him. After all, when he returns to the Lingham Residence, he might blame me for the lack of protection.â He shrugged and sighed. âWell, I have to prove to act like I did everything I could. Here, you can pretend to knock me out and take him away.â
âNot bad.â Casper was stumped for a moment because he did not expect Roy to act that way. Grinning, he patted Royâs shoulder. âYou are planning this well. Tell me, what can you help me with?â
âMy colleagues and I could pretend to have collective amnesia. All we know is that someone came by to abduct Sawyer. As for the rest of the story, they are irrelevant.â Roy answered in record time, as though he had already made up his mind.
Although Casper thought he looked like a woman, the way Roy acted decisively made him come across as more dominating than an average man. In particular, when he broke into the security room earlier, Roy stood in front of him to protect his secretary.
âWe can do something else. I did act out of a whim today, and I only want to minimize the impact of this whole situation.â
A pained smile appeared on Casperâs face. It was not reliable to act this way. He flared up and allowed his emotions to take control of his actions, probably because he was overwhelmed when he saw Giselle crying.
âYou were so impulsive that you directly took things to the son of the richest man in Horington. You even budged into his room in the middle of his spa session.â Roy reminded. âWhy were you so angry?â
Since Casper remained silent, Roy studied his expression. âLooking at you, I donât think you would come here for the money. Itâs probably because of a woman then.â
Roy was the first man Casper came across who did not judge someone by their appearance. He came here in cheap clothing, yet this spa owner knew that he was not here for the money.
Casperâs silence translated into an acknowledgement.
âYou are hopelessly in love. Do you think we are living in ancient times? Who even seeks out to kill someone because of love these days?â
âWell, thatâs not the only reason. We have plenty of history between us, and I have tolerated that man for too long.â Unknowingly, he revealed his true feelings to Roy.
With a frown on his face, Roy looked like he was deep in thought. After a short pause, he asked, âMay I know whatâs your name.â
âCasper Simpson.â
Roy muttered his name a few times. âThatâs a good name. Anyway, the heart gets what it wants, although this is not going to be easy to clean up after.â
Sensing that Roy seemed willing to help him out, Casper grabbed the manâs hands. âPlease give me some advice.â
âI can assure you that the people in my spa are tight-lipped and can prevent the news from spreading,â
Roy whispered after scanning their surroundings. âDespite that, I will not be able to control Sawyerâs men. If they mention it to their boss, what do you think will happen?â
âAre you telling me to think of a way to ensure that Sawyer never speaks of this again? That will be difficult because if I let him go, he will surely go out of his way to get back at me.â Casper deliberated over it.
Unexpectedly, Roy chuckled. âDidnât you already decide not to kill him? You have no other choice but to let him go. The only thing that makes a difference now is how he is in your hands. You can do anything to make sure he shuts up about it. Scare him or threaten him for all I care. It is most important to leave a strong enough impact on him, such that he will never engage in a crossfire with you again.â
The suggestion gave Casper an idea, although he was still baffled by Royâs behaviour. âIf I may ask, why are you helping me?â
Roy shook his head. âI donât know either. What I do know is that Sawyer is not a good man anyway. I only serve him to make money. On the other hand, you give me a strange hunch that we will cross paths again in the future. Who knows, we might meet again.â He paused before joking, âAh, forget it.
You are way too fierce!â
Moments later, Casper returned to the room with Roy. With one hand, the poor heir to the Lingham family was clutching onto the rope he was tied to while grabbing onto Roy with the other.
âMr. Johnson, please donât leave me in the lurch. If you help me, I will ask my dad to pay you ten million! Otherwise, a hundred million is possible too!â
Pretentiously, Roy patted Sawyerâs hand and assured him, âDonât worry, Mr. Lingham. I will not let you leave with this hooligan. If he wants to take you, he will have to get through me first!â
âAre you kidding? Mr. Johnson, you have decided to be nosy in the end. Do you want me to kill you?â
Casper sneered.
At the speed of light, he sent a punch to Royâs stomach and also kicked him. The man collapsed onto the ground as though he was dead.
The female secretary who was fiercely loyal to Roy threw herself over her boss, crying at the thought of him dying.
Unexpectedly, she noticed Roy winking at her while still pretending to be unconscious. It took her a while before she realized that it was all an act.
âYour boss canât die. I aimed at his kidney, and I want him to live with a urine bag for the rest of his life.â
Without a crack in his acting, he grabbed the womanâs hair and taunted, âWith this punch, you will only be able to see with one eye. I will not spare your mouth, nose, and ears!â
With that, his fist met with the female secretaryâs forehead, and it made a loud sound. Yet, it did not hurt her at all. Taking the hint, she continued to play along and fell beside Roy after shrieking in pain.
Satisfied, Casper inwardly laughed. They are quite the actor.
