Mrs. Miriam went to kitchen with the empty plates. Zachariah wiped his mouth with a clean napkin and said, âHurry up, and Iâll drive you to work.â
Ophelia looked at him with a flickering smile and said, âNow you finally realize the responsibility as a husband?â
âNo more talking. Just eat.â
Zachariah said pointing the milk behind Ophelia while she was eating a piece of bread, âYouâre a mother-to-be. Drink more milk. Itâs good for the baby.â
Ophelia hesitated a second, glanced at him, and nodded.
The atmosphere was intimate and sweet. She thought the breakfast today was much more delicious than ever.
After dinner, she put on her clothes, took a bag and asked him, âMr. Chambers, shall we go now?â
He nodded in agreement.
She held his arm and smiled, âThen letâs go.â
As they stepped out of the house, Zachariahâs phone rang. Glancing at Ophelia out of subconscious, he took out the phone. It was from Cora Fletcher.
Zachariah frowned slightly at the call. Obviously, Ophelia has seen the name and her smile faded a bit. She sneered, âMr. Zachariah, your lover is calling you. Pick it up quickly, or she will blame me if there is something wrong with her.â
He glanced at her with unpleased eyes. When he picked up the phone, he softened his tone.
âCora, whatâs up?â
âZach, are you working?â
âNo, Iâm off to work.â
âMy car was broken yesterday and I donât want to take a taxi. Can you pick me up? Both I and our baby miss you very much.â Cora was acting cute on the other end of the phone.
He kept frowning.
âYou donât want to come? Iâm having your baby now. How could you be so indifferent to me? You donât love me anymore, do you?â
âIâll see you at noon. Now just behave yourself, will you?â he said patiently.
âZach, our baby and I miss you so much. Iâll come back to Europe if you donât come over now. As for the baby, Iâll abandon it since you donât love it.â
Unexpectedly, Cora lost her temper.
His brows were knotted.
âDonât be silly, Cora. Iâll pick you up now.â He fought down his impatience.
âJust be quick. We miss you.â Cora left a word obediently before she hung up.
Putting the phone in his pocket, he said to Ophelia, âDarling, can you go to work by yourself? I have to see Cora, just in case.â
âOK, Mr. Zachariah. Donât worry. Just go.â She put on a decent smile.
Kissing her on the forehead, he said, âDrive safe. Call me any time you need me.â
With an indifferent smile, she said, âDonât be so such a mother hen. Iâm just going to work by myself. Itâs not a big deal.â
He urged once again before he left by car. A haunted sadness took the place of her smile after he left.
She got on the car, took a deep breath and drove away.
On the way to work, she received a call from Madeleine. She picked it up and talked to her, pretending nothing had happened. âHow come you call me so early?â
âI didnât sleep last night because I have been writing for the whole night. I was calling to ask if you are free tonight for a dinner. I miss the baby.â
âHow could I refuse you since you have asked me? We havenât had dinner for days, then letâs meet tonight.â
âOK. Then Iâm off to bed. Iâll see you tonight.â
âHave a good rest. Donât exhaust yourself. Iâll call to wake you up for lunch.â
âDonât, sweetie. Itâs near the due dates, so my editor has been urging me for several days. It almost drives me crazy. My brain is full of the scenes of the story now. I need a good sleep and Iâll call you after Iâve got enough sleep.â

The Vixen's Man ï¤15 Unobstructed, Ophelia drove the car to the company after the call.
After parking the car, she entered the company with her bag. On the hall, she ran across Tassach, who had been waiting for her. At the sight of him, she stopped because it occurred to her that when Tassach called her last night when she was making love with Zachariah and he heard all of it by chance. She was so embarrassed.
Her cheeks were about to burn. While she was hesitating if she should go up or leave, Tassach walked up to her. She forced herself to be calm and was about to say hello to him, he unexpectedly caught her hand and pulled her out of the hall.
He pulled her so hard that she couldnât struggle. She sensed the gazes from the staffs around, so she said in a low voice, âMr. Conduibh, let me go.
People are watching us.â
Ignoring her words, Tassach pulled her out of the company in a sulk.
She came to be angry and said, âMr. Conduibh, whatâs wrong with you? Many people are watching us.â
He stopped finally and turned to look at her, saying, âIâll take you to a place. I have to talk to you.â
