Bradwen took Gwylan into his arms and helped her ease down. "Gwylan, settle down a little."
Gwylan tried to free herself from his arms. "How can you ask me to settle down after what happened to Cora? If you donât want to fall out with them for your friendship with them, let me play the villain."
Helena took a deep breath. "Weâre in hospital now, and weâll embarrass ourselves if we make a scene here. You havenât had lunch yet, have you?
How about we get a box, sit down, eat some food and have a talk there?"
Gwylan nodded after some consideration.
The four of them went to the restaurant closest to the hospital, got a private room and ordered some dishes. After that, silence hung heavily in the room.
Arms crossed, Gwylan said, "Helena, I know I went too far in the hospital, but I was worried about Cora. If the same thing happened to your daughter, Iâm afraid youâd be more anxious than I was."
Suppressing her anger, Helena almost blurted out, "Even if my daughter was being unruly and reckless, she wouldnât disgrace herself by being the other woman. She wouldnât get pregnant and show it off in front of the wife. If Savannah did something so shameless, I would definitely drive her away from our family."
Helena faked a smile and replied, "I feel sorry for what happened to Cora, but Savannah is different. I donât think she will get pregnant before marriage, so you donât have to worry about her."
Gwylanâs face darkened. "Helena, what do you mean by that?"
Helena said, "Iâm just saying. Itâs you who keep mentioning Savannah, so I just play along. Savannah is a refined girl. Itâs true that sheâs headstrong, but she wonât destroy othersâ family. If she became the other woman, I would break her leg and keep her at home. Itâs not that the Chambers family couldnât afford to support a woman."
Both Gwylan and Bradwen turned livid.
Bradwen stared at Helena in disbelief. "Helena, you..."
Helena simply smiled, saying nothing.
Gwylan snapped, "Helena, youâve gone too far. Even if my daughter is the other woman, much of the blame rightly attaches to your son. If he was able to keep it in his pants, my daughter could do nothing about it, even if sheâs the most beautiful woman in the world! Besides, you canât tell who started all this in this love. When you accuse my daughter of being the other woman, donât you get your son involved too?"
Helena argued, "Zachariah just made a mistake that every man in this world will make. As long as he makes amends and returns to his family, itâll be fine. In my opinion, Zachariah is doing great in terms of this."
Gwylanâs face was distorted with fury.
Brad also couldnât believe what he just heard. "Helena, I didnât expect you to be so mean."
Regret flashed across Helenaâs eyes, but she wouldnât back down in order to save Zachariah and Opheliaâs family.
"Iâll accept Cora as my goddaughter, but sheâs not the right girl to marry Zachariah. Therefore, no matter she loses the baby or not, I wonât have her marrying into the Chambers family anyway. Please be understanding. Once is quite enough for our family to be humiliated. I donât want our family to be laughed at by the high society for the same woman again."
Gwylan said, "Helena, weâre sorry for what Cora did back then, but you canât just reject her. She has become better after she came back this time, and was willing to give birth to Zachariahâs baby. To err is human, to forgive divine. Why wouldnât you give her another chance?"
Helena found what Gwylan said ridiculous.
"Zachariah is already married, and the baby will be born soon. Weâll try our best to make up for Coraâs loss, but I will never have Zachariah marrying her."
Gwylan rose to her feet in anger and snapped, "Helena, what do you take Cora for? A beggar? Do you want to buy her off? We Fletcher family is also rich and powerful. If you push us too far, we wonât necessarily lose to you."
"I didnât mean that way. If you must take me wrong, I have nothing to say, but again, I wonât have Cora marrying into the Chambers family." In terms of Zachariahâs marriage, Helena stuck to her guns and wouldnât compromise.
Bradwen pulled at Gwylan, who was on the edge of flaring up, and said in a calm tone, "Helena, weâve been friends for years. I thought you would like Cora to marry Zachariah. Is there any misunderstanding between us?"
"Iâm sorry." This was all Helena could say.
Gwylan was about to lose her temper; meanwhile, Bradwen grabbed her by the arm, trying to prevent her from shouting abuse.
Zachariah faked a cough and chimed in, "Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher, please believe me. Iâll handle this situation properly and give you a satisfactory reply."
Bradwen and Gwylan exchanged a glance.

The Vixen's Man ï¤15 Zachariah went on, "I never said that I wouldnât be responsible for Cora. Just as what I said, I already asked an Italian designer to customize a wedding dress for her, and it will be finished in a month. I didnât expect she would have a miscarriage, but since I love her, I donât care if sheâs able to give birth."
Amazement gleamed in Gwylanâs eyes.
"Such being the case, why didnât you say that?"
