IT WAS SO MUCH more smoother in her head.
Ryan's heart was thrashing around in her rib cage unable to comprehend how to continue what she just started. In her head, this all went quite smoothly, but now she realized the flaws of her plan.
Who was she kidding? He was Tate Sutton and considering the amount of praise he gets on a daily basis, she was surprised his head wasn't as big as his best friends'.
She contemplated trying Emma Roberts' "oh this is my favorite song do you wanna dance?"
thing that she had focused on during her reruns of Wild Child but she found it to be quite unrealistic.
Oh why wasn't it as easy as it seemed?
Deciding that there was no other way to it, she broke her lingering gaze on Tate's emerald eyes, bobbing her head ever so slightly in order to pretend to notice the change in the song that was playing in the background.
Ryan inwardly glared. It had to be a song she didn't know.
She forced out a giggle, turning her head to meet a slightly confused Tate, "oh my god this is my favorite song! Do you wanna dance?"
Okay that was horrible let me crawl inside a hole and die.
Without waiting for his reply she grabbed his hand and dragged him over to where the dance floor was, mixing in between the crowds of teenagers belting out to the lyrics of whatever song was playing.
She didn't care if he thought she was stupid, he wouldn't be thinking that after a few minutes anyways.
All Ryan wanted was to mix Tate in with the crowd. If they were within a crowd chances were, that anyone wouldn't hear what Ryan had to say to Tate and the sheer size of the crowd would prevent Tate from running away. A place like the punch table would definitely allow him a straight path if he wanted to run but moving amongst heavily adrenaline induced teenagers would prove to be heavily impossible.
She grinned at him like a madman while she moved (rather awkwardly) to the music. She crossed her fingers slightly, praying to God that the next song would be something that would give her an excuse to close the distance between them.
She waited until the beat dropped. One. Two. Three.
Ryan's smile grew wider as her wish came true, a slow song crescendoing from the speakers attached to the hall. She watched from the corner of her eyes as the people around her stopped, momentarily confused before scrambling to hold on to someone in order to dance.
She took a step closer to Tate, who flashed her a charming smile. Ryan didn't understand the level Tate went in order to be nice as she snaked her arms around his neck. If she was Tate in this situation, she would've already run the opposite way in complete horror.
She forced out another giggle, trying to hide the goosebumps prickling her bare arms as soon as she felt Tate's hot breath fanning her face.
Ryan narrowed her eyes, put on a confident smile and leaned towards his ear and whispered, "I know your secret."

ARCHER GIOVANNI WAS slightly annoyed. He had already danced for more than half an hour, nonstop with Nora and despite being adept at having stamina, dancing like a maniac drove him to be more tired than he wanted to be.
He collapsed on a seat that probably wasn't his but, it was vacant so who cares?
After pushing a few strands of hair away from his face he looked at the dance floor, spotting Carter dancing with a girl he didn't know the name of, surrounded by the rest of the football team sans Tate and of course Lucas.
Intrigued, he looked around a bit, finding Tate by one of the punch tables, surrounded by a group of women.
Wow Ryan has competition.
Thinking about Ryan made him even more annoyed. His cheeks heated up as he replayed his last conversation with her, sighing. He took out his phone, sending her a text asking if she was here yet.
It was stupid, the whole "rite of passage" thing and then Arch knew how bad Ryan's flirting skills were. He had obviously made the deduction after taking that into account.
He didn't want to dwell on it so he settled for finding his teammates, to find most of them were dancing and some of them were cuddled up in the corners with their respective girlfriends.
Arch spotted Lucas Grayson then, secluded near the tables where he was sitting, behind the luxurious staircase that led them to a level above. Arch could see that what was going on with his current date was more than enough to make kids cry in public, his hand roaming under her skirt in intense lust.
He was more than sure most of the teachers had noticed but Arch was unsurprised to say the least at the lack of intervention. Mostly everyone knew, including their teachers about Lucas Grayson's mood swings. And no one wanted to be on the receiving end of it.
Sighing heavily he got up, craving a drink. Archer spotted Carter walking over to the punch table, the same girl he was dancing with on his arm.
Arch approached Carter, hitting him in the back. "Any sign of Ryan and Aanya? It's been ages?" Carter coughed. "Uhm, no," he replied, handing his drink over to the girl that was attached to his arm. She looked up at him flirtatiously and tipped the drink up to her lips.
"Where's Nora?" Carter asked, searching. "Dancing," the blonde replied as he enclosed his hand around the cup and brought it to his lips. He took a sip, the liquid a bit too sweet for him. "Apparently she can't believe summer is over so she wanted to get some moves in before going back to her books."
Carter let out a small laugh, and his entourage, feeling left out of the conversation winked at him before leaving the punch table and joining the people at the dance floor, swaying her hips. Carter waved his hand, "That's got to be the biggest lie ever. Everyone knows parties at ALH happen almost every two weeks. So basically it's summertime but with a little bit more activities included except for dancing. The only difference is that there's no beach."
Arch nodded his head in agreement. "Alright it's true I guess. But unlike the most of us, I think Nora takes her calculus exams pretty seriously."
"That's for sure."
Archer looked around before landing his eyes on the entrance, waiting for Ryan to enter. To say that he was curious was an understatement and with all the bullshit he spewed towards her face this afternoon, he was more than determined to prove that it was more than just bullshit.
Tate Sutton wasn't a dangerous person, not necessarily. So Archer wasn't really worried about that. What he didn't like (which he begrudgingly admitted) was Ryan touching another man. It wasn't fair for him to feel this way, considering his never-ending line of girls he's dated. But he did, feel that way and he hated himself for it.
"Are you worried?" Carter questioned, raising an eyebrow. "It's all over your face." He shook his head. "I'm not, as long as she doesn't hurt himself. I just really hope she doesn't go through with it."
"You know you really dug your grave when you commented on her appearance." His friend commented lazily. Arch glared at him, "and why is that?
Carter raised his forefinger, pointing towards the entrance. "You're dead meat man."
Arch frowned, the space between his eyebrows decreasing as he turned, his eyes landing on his best friend who was at the entrance, her eyes searching for someone.
His eyes trailed down her figure, her white dress fitting her figure perfectly. He momentarily thought he saw fear flicker in her eyes but it went as soon as it came, replaced by determination. Archer winced visibly and he wanted slap himself. Fuck. Why the fuck was she this gorgeous?
"Look I told you, you're dead meat. Ryan's in the track and field club, with you. Did you really think a woman that is fit wouldn't have a perfectly shaped body? Where did all that dating experience go man?" Arch could feel Carter's smug smile burning a hole through his jacket and he glared.
"I hate you." Archer ignored his heart pulsating in his chest and tipped the drink to his lips, downing the whole thing in one go before smashing it down on he punch table.
He definitely knew he needed another drink.
