Nisha had seen Nihal disappear onto the terrace a few minutes earlier. Wondering what he was doing for so long out there she had followed. Though her reasons had been very different. Apart from the few people she knew, the rest were all strangers and she didn't like the whispers or the looks that were coming her way. She was bored to death and infuriated beyond measure at the way she was being treated. And it was all the more disturbing considering who she was. She had been a beauty queen, and was still a model, a celebrity in her own steam and right about now she was probably the most beautiful person in the room and yet people were not falling over their feet to meet her or flock around her to talk to her. Simpletons from a small city what could be expected from them and Nihal will have to join here for a few days if the transfer didn't stop. She wasn't coming. She had already decided that for sure. Once outside she had been startled to find Nihal with Arnab and then she had heard what Arnab had said to Nihal . It had angered her the way he had spoken. And Nihal had just stood there listening to him. Not a word from him in their defense. So she had decided to take matters into her own hands. She didn't need Nihal 's assistance."How dare you speak to my husband like that?" she said and announced her presence. She watched Nihal 's face turn to ashen color and Arnab 's expression change to one of bare tolerance. It was Arnab 's reaction that irked her more than anything else."Just because he is not saying anything doesn't mean you are going to use foul words," she screeched, "wow Arnab , I had never known you to use harsh words where did you learn them from?" she asked sarcastically, "Oh, I forgot it must be your new wife's influence," she jeered and watched with satisfaction as Arnab 's eyes flickered with anger. So he liked her that much. She smiled coldly. "Did she teach you that kind of language?" she asked again."You leave Mowri out of this okay," Arnab warned just as coldly, "your husband sought me out to talk not the other way around. If you have issues take up with him, I am not interested in either his reasons for doing what he did neither your theatrics," he told her firmly and decided to leave before things got ugly. Only Nisha wasn't in the mood to give in that easily."I will talk to him later," she said as she crossed her arms over her chest, "but tell me Arnab Malhotra how come you married someone like Mowri ?" she said and at the dangerous glint Arnab passed her she went on in her sweet voice, "I mean she is so not your taste. Did your loving mother push you into this marriage? She has no class, no etiquettes not even beauty to her credit. Or in order to forget me you chose her who is nowhere in resemblance to me, in fact a complete opposite," she said and gave a half smile. Before Arnab could respond Nihal intervened."What are you talking about?" he said astounded at the way Nisha was behaving. "Let us go inside Nisha ," he told her and moved forward to take her elbow so they could go."In a minute honey," she said, "I am not done talking to my ex," she said, "tell me Arnab . I am curious. Were you so much in love with me that you couldn't stand anybody disturbing my memories so you chose her," she asked and Arnab tightened his jaw. "I guess that should be the answer. Poor you, had you been nice to me, not put all those restrictions on me, and agreed to what I wanted maybe I would have given you a second chance," she said unapologetically and heard Nihal gasp, "but you didn't. So here you are feeling miserable as it should be," she said feeling superior, "you know I was fascinated by you, by your adoration for me that was the only reason I agreed to marry you but you dashed my hopes of a good future with you when like every other male you tried to change me," she said aggressively, "you were always a mama's boy, God knows how I missed that trait in you," she said as if disgusted by him, "a loser and a loser could never deserve someone like me," she said caustically, "get it," she said with pride. She watched as she saw hurt in Arnab 's eyes at her words. Did it make her feel bad? No. His wife had tried to be smart with her it was only payback. She felt better letting her steam off making a dent in his confidence."What the hell Nisha ," Nihal said tightly, "I said let it go and come inside," he barked, "now," he told her."And you," she said turning her fury onto her husband, "what husband listens to his wife being slandered by another man and still doesn't say a word in defense. I would have slapped this man's face had I been you," she said angrily."Would you have?" Arnab said in quiet disdain. He scoffed as he saw the two of them together, "You need guts to do something like that. And that is something both of you are lacking. You husband here was telling me why he broke my trust. Giving me excuses I don't need. Just as I don't need to talk to you anymore," he said looking at Nisha who was glaring at him."Why you..." she started again."Enough," a voice said firmly and as they all turned they watched Mowri descend the steps slowly as she wobbled towards them. One look at her face and Arnab knew she had heard everything. He saw her anger flare in her eyes as she kept her gaze locked on him. He swallowed hard. Just seeing her here was a balm on his raw wounds. And then he tried to mask his emotions lest she decided to gouge Nisha 's eyes out. He saw Jassi hurry behind her but she was late. This was going to get downright ugly. The last time someone had insulted him Mowri had slapped the girl he wasn't sure what she would do this time round. She walked all the way up to him then stood next to him and crossed her arms over her chest."I think you have said enough," she said firmly and before anyone could say anything she smiled. It was cold and Arnab could feel the chills through his jacket. This was going to get nasty he tried to get Mowri 's attention but she ignored his hand on her arm completely. "You know I don't know whether I should sympathize with you or feel pity or should I be angry," she said as she put a finger on her cheek as if thinking, "I remain undecided," she said in a bored tone.Nisha was astounded. Not sure what Mowri meant. She hadn't been expecting to meet her again let alone talk to her. She looked at Arnab who was looking at Mowri and Nihal of course stared clueless at her too. She looked back at Mowri and saw not just anger and displeasure she also saw scorn."How dare you talk to me like that?" she said finally unable to come up with anything else."Is it that you don't understand or you like being insulted," Mowri asked sweetly."Mowri ," Arnab said warning her to keep quiet but she was livid beyond measure and come what may she will say her piece. She had warned the husband wife duo to stay away they didn't heed her it wasn't her fault if they were dumb. She ignored Arnab 's warning."How could you..." Nisha started again only to be stopped by Mowri again."'How could you', 'how dare you' 'what'," she quoted, "is this all the vocabulary you have?" she asked as if wondering if that was true. "You really should come up with something new," she said dramatically keeping her voice sweet as sugar. She refused to raise her volume she didn't have to. Her acid tongue and her wit were a deadly force. She watched as Nisha 's eyes go all round in her small delicate face and her mouth opened and closed shut before she found her voice."I have never been insulted in this manner before," Nisha said screeching, "how could you let her insult me in such a manner Arnab ?" she asked. "You have married a hellion here," she said."You know I have been called worse names than that and just to let you know I don't care," Mowri answered on Arnab 's behalf, "you said a lot of things to my husband I take it upon myself as my duty as Arnab Malhotra's wife to answer a few and make you see your true self," she said sweetly. She didn't care if her foot was killing her or she had a swelling the size of a melon she wouldn't let anybody open Arnab 's wounds and hurt him again. "Why he married me? How he married me? They are irrelevant questions the point is he did marry me and of his own will," she started, "you of all the people have no right to question him about his choices because you belong in the past and that is where you should be just as he should be yours. I don't know how your husband feels you asking these questions to Arnab but I don't like them and it makes me think if you purposely wanted him to stay single and be miserable," she said shrewdly and as she watched all color drain from Nisha 's face she knew she was bang on. What had she thought that Arnab should spend his life repenting she had left him? He would have repented, only for another reason. "But not casting any aspersions on your person I should answer your other query. Arnab was miserable and it is true," she said and paused as she saw some color return and Nisha felt glorious at what she had just said when she decided to bring her back to earth, "but he was miserable because he couldn't comprehend what sin he had committed to have fallen for a creature like you," she said and smiled with satisfaction as her words hit the target again. She did hear Arnab suck in his breath but he kept quiet, "who wouldn't be. 'Poor thing' you had called Arnab ," she said as anger rose again at the words but she clamped it down, "he was that but because he had married you. I think I can safely use the same term for your current husband but I don't want to, because he hurt his best friend and I can't even feel pity for him," she said and shrugged, "he did what he did with his eyes open," she said. "So if anyone should be miserable it should be you," she said taking a step towards Nisha closing the distance between them, "if anyone should repent it should be you," she said threateningly taking another step till she absolutely stood in front of the other woman dwarfing her completely in height, size and stature, "if anyone should ponder over what they have lost it should be you Mrs. Nisha Raheja," she said angrily and let the other woman see fury flare her eyes and face. There was absolute silence around them. All Mowri could hear was the breathing sounds around her. She knew she had crossed the line and she knew she had done so when Arnab had asked her to stop but she couldn't help herself. Nisha was begging to get a taste of her own medicine. And who was she to stop the girl from what she wanted. But as she watched Nisha 's face contort with disbelief and anger she knew this was far from over.**********
